EUL_EXP_ID constraint (Discoverer v3.1)
Recently I have troubles with adding or copying new folders/joins into the End User Layer. The DBMS gives a ORA-00001 violation error, because Discoverer tries to insert a record with a key that already exists. Is someone familiar with this bug?
For Your Interest. The cause of this problem is a known bug in the administration edition version 3.1.26. The bug appears in rare occasions and affects the main sequence which will be adjusted by a lower value. The solution is to find out the highest value which depends on the sequence (alfa) and re-adjust the sequence by a value higher than alfa.

ORA-00001 - unique constraint violation when upgrading 10g EUL
Hi,
I am trying to upgrade my Discoverer 4i to Discoverer 10g.
When I log into 10g, it prompts me to upgrade the EUL. After making the right back up of my 4i EUL, I continue with the upgrade.
During the upgrade, I am hit with this error:
Database error: ORA-00001 unique constraint (EUL_HRMS.EUL5_FOL_UK_1) violated.
I understand that this happens when user tries to insert an already existing value into a column defined as unique. However, I am not sure on how to resolve it.
Can anyone please advice.
Thanks in advance!

Passing Parameters to a discoverer folder using Note 282249.1
I am creating reports for a multi-lingual environment. My problem is trying to present the headings in the reports in the language required. Since I am creating all the code for the reports in custom folders, I thought I would just hide my column headings using color on color and add a row to my report that is a headings row.
In order for the headings row to display, it must have the value for the parameter I am using...a type of id. I followed the instructions in Note:282249.1 for passing a parameter to a discoverer folder. It works perfectly...sometimes. I think the 'sometimes' has something to do with caching.
As the Note says, I created a function 'setparam' and then I created a condition in the report which is 1=SETPARAM(:my_parameter). Here's how I ran the report and the results:
1. Condition in the report, heading row doesn't display
2. Remove the condition, use the same parameter, heading row displays
3. Condition still not in, use new parameter value, heading row doesn't display
4. Add Condition back in, same parameter value as #3, heading row displays
5. Remove condition, same parameter value as #3 & #4, heading row displays
6. Add Condition back in, same parameter value as #3, #4 & #5, heading row displays
7. Condition in the report, new parameter value, heading row doesn't display
8. Results same as #2
and so forth. Which is why I decided it has to do with caching.
So then I ran the sql in SQL Developer and got this error. "SQL Error: Missing IN or OUT parameter at index:: 1". I googled the error, but the results are outside my scope of knowledge.
Anyone?
Thanks so much,
TriciaHi,
It is difficult to use this technique with the /BATCH command because you cannot specify the order in which the worksheets will be processed.
My suggestion is that you change you set_context function so that the value is stored in a table and then create a logon trigger so that the users' contexts are reloaded when the user connects. Your contexts will then effectively be permanent and reset from session to session.
You will need to create a table to store the contexts:
CREATE TABLE disco_user_context
(username VARCHAR2(30), attribute VARCHAR2(30), value VARCHAR2(4000),
CONSTRAINT disco_user_context_pk PRIMARY KEY (username, attribute));And modify your set context function to store the contexts:
FUNCTION set_context(p_name VARCHAR2,
p_value VARCHAR2) RETURN VARCHAR2
IS
PRAGMA AUTONOMOUS_TRANSACTION;
BEGIN
dbms_session.set_context('EUL_DISCO', p_name, p_value);
INSERT INTO disco_user_context (username, attribute, value)
VALUES (user, p_name, p_value);
COMMIT;
RETURN p_value;
EXCEPTION WHEN DUP_VAL_ON_INDEX THEN
UPDATE disco_user_context
SET value = p_value
WHERE username = user AND attribute = p_name;
COMMIT;
RETURN p_value;
END set_context;Then create an initialization procedure in your package:
PROCEDURE initialize
IS
result VARCHAR2(4000);
BEGIN
FOR contexts IN (SELECT attribute, value FROM disco_user_context WHERE username=user)
LOOP
result := set_context(contexts.attribute, contexts.value);
END LOOP;
END initialize;And create a logon trigger to call the initialization procedure:
CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER rodwest.disco_logon_trigger AFTER logon ON rodwest.SCHEMA
BEGIN disco_pkg.initialize; END;
/Hope that helps,

Is Discoverer 4.1 section 508 compliant
I would like to get any documentation if any that states that Discoverer 4.1 or the Oracle Discoverer 9iAS version is section 508 compliant. Section 508 requirements describe the design features and constraints needed to support persons with disabilities.
Meyers,
You will need to chat with either Oracle Support or PWC should have a Oracle Sales channel or something that can get you this information. I remember reading that they where heading in that direction... other than that it was not an issue for me.

Capturing present and future-dated transactions in Discoverer
Hello,
I'm building a report to capture all terminations processed in Oracle Human Resources. I'm keying terminations (using the End Employment Form in the HR application) to a test environment. I've entered historical terminations, terminations effective today (sysdate), and future-dated terminations.
Using Discoverer Plus, I'm able to build a report (simple row/column) that captures historical terminations that have occurred prior to today. However, I can't seem to pull in today's terminations and future dated terminations.
Any advice on how to capture these? Keep in mind I'm using Plus, I do not have access to Discoverer Admin so I do I have constraints especially in regards to joins and SQL manipulation (which is nil).
Thank you everyone and do let me know if you need more information.
Edited by: Nick Stoll on Jun 25, 2010 10:53 AMHi Nick
Is this a table that you created? If so, then it sounds like you may have to adjust the conditions in your report. The one area that we don't have control over is what the Discoverer administrator is doing behind the scenes. If there is a mandatory condition filtering to only past terminations then the only way to resolve this is in the Administrator tool. Also, if a database view is being used to make the data available and within the view there is a similar filter you will also be stuck.
Try creating a report in Discoverer that has no conditions at all and see if you can see the records. If you can then you just need to create appropriate filters to display the records you are concerned about.
If you still cannot see the data then you need to speak with your administrator, bearing in mind that the block could be within the database itself.
Best wishes

Oracle discoverer Administration - Business Areas
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to install the Oracle discoverer Administration edition for a user, but only with query/view rights on Business Areas ?.
The user should not be able do make changes , but only to view certain BA : eg : folder links, custom folder queries, properties etc.
Or is there another way of getting the information regarding the setup for a certain Business Area ?Hi,
It depends what version of Discoverer you are using. If you are using a later version (10g) then you can give the user administration privilege but no privilege to change the EUL (e.g. format business area). Then when the user connects to Disco Administrator they get read only access to the EUL.
If you are using a previous version then you will have to either write a report off the EUL tables that gives them all the information they need (The Oracle provided EUL Definition Business gives most of this information), or implement your own read only constraints using database triggers.
Hope that helps,

Open Pages from Discoverer Report
Hi,
Is there a way to invoke a webpage or even better, an oracle function (that links to forms or self-service) from a discoverer report row ?
for example, I want a report for employees where the person looking at the report will click on the employee name and is taken straight to the person details page for that employee.
Regards.Hi,
You can create a link to a form function using fnd_run_function.get_run_function_url. You can create a calculation either in a view or using a calculated item in the EUL (you will have to map the get_run_function_url in the EUL to do this). You then set the content type property of the EUL item to FILE so that when the item is selected in the workbook it appears as a hyperlink.
Most forms in apps except parameters so that you can pass the employee id to the form and the form will open up with the employee record. For example, if you are using a seed HR person form you create a calculation,
fnd_run_function.get_run_function_url(3494 -- PERWSHRG-404
,800 -- HR
,fnd_global.RESP_ID -- caller's responsibility
,0 -- Business Group
, -- Parameters
'P_PERSON_ID='||TO_CHAR(person_id, 'fm9999999999999')||
' P_EFFECTIVE_DATE='||TO_CHAR(SYSDATE, 'YYYY/MM/DD'))Rod West -

We are running Oracle BI Discoverer Viewer version 11.1.1.4.0. When we upgraded to this version we lost some functionality. In the previous version the report displayed the number of rows the query returned. Now the row totals display only under certain conditions. For instance, I have a inventory report name INV-REP-120 and it prompts the user for 6 parameters & displays 6 columns of data. One of the parameters is named ‘Keyword' and I’ll use this one in the problem description. When I set the keyword parameter to ‘HINGE’ The bar at the top of the results sheet it displays:
‘Rows 1-25 of 81, Columns 1-6 of 9’
When I change the keyword to ‘TUBE’ the viewer displays:
‘Rows 1-25, Columns 1-6 of 9’
The total rows are not displayed but the number of pages. It appears that if the total number of rows is less than 200 then the row total is displayed. I changed the rows displayed from 25 to 100 and scrolled down to the last page and now the reports displays:
‘451 – 458 of 458, Columns 1-6 of 9’
When I use the key word TEE I get :
‘Rows 1-50, Columns 1-6 of 9’
There are 596 tees, which would be about 12 pages of 50 rows. I noticed that at the top of table there is a field ‘Page 1 of 5.’ It looks like if there are more than 5 pages it does not display the total number of rows.
There seems to be some interaction between the total number of rows the number of rows per page and perhaps a setup on the back-end that determines whether or not the row total is displayed. How can I configure the viewer at the front-end and/or back-end to consistently display the row total for a report? Is there a Discoverer preference located in the pref.txt in the apps server that controls this?Hi,
You can inform to your SP to edit the table EUL4_documents
and ask him to modify the name of the report that is stored in the column DOC_NAME .There is absolutely no necessary to open the work book that is stored in the database and change the work book name

Discoverer report not working on R12 !
We have just migrated to R12 from 11i and some of the discoverer query is not working, but the same is working fine when we ran thru SQL Developer or TOAD.
Is there any context (mo_global.set_policy_context) needs to be set in Discoverer report to get the data?
ThanksThanks Srini,
There is no any specific error message, the strange thing is if I run the Discoverer report is not returning any data, but if I set the mo_global.set_policy_context ('S',111) in SQL Developer or TOAD and then run the discoverer report it return data...
Any pointers? -

i need to have sysdate as parameter in my report. I want data based on the date i provide.
how can i make this as an parameter?Hi Prashant,
Subqueries are not Supported in Conditions..As of Disco Plus Rel 10.1.2.54.25
A plausible workaround can be:
1. Create a View with foll. Query
create or replace view TEST_VIEW as
select hpah.EMPLOYEE_NUMBER emp_no,hpah.FIRST_NAME,hpah.LAST_NAME,hpah.PERSON_NAME,
--hpah.JOB_NAME,hpah.ASSIGNMENT_ORGANIZATION_NAME,
hpah.ASSIGNMENT_TYPE,hpah.USER_ASSIGNMENT_STATUS,
SUBSTR(pj.name, 1, instr(pj.name, '.', 1, 2) -1) job_code,
SUBSTR(pj.name, instr(pj.name, '.', 1, 2) + 1) job_title,
(select haou.ATTRIBUTE1 from hr_all_organization_units haou
where haou.ORGANIZATION_ID = hpah.ASSIGNMENT_ORGANIZATION_ID ) Function,
(select haou.ATTRIBUTE2 from hr_all_organization_units haou
where haou.ORGANIZATION_ID = hpah.ASSIGNMENT_ORGANIZATION_ID ) org_desc,
SUBSTR(hpah.ASSIGNMENT_ORGANIZATION_NAME, 1, 6) dept_code,
SUBSTR(hpah.ASSIGNMENT_ORGANIZATION_NAME, 7, LENGTH(hpah.ASSIGNMENT_ORGANIZATION_NAME)) dept_title,
hpah.GRADE_NAME,hpah.LOCATION_NAME,hpah.SUPERVISOR_NAME,
hpah.PERSON_START_DATE,hpah.ORIGINAL_DATE_OF_HIRE ,
hpah.SALARY_BASIS,hpah.BUSINESS_GROUP_ID,hpah.ASSIGNMENT_ID,
decode( hpah.SALARY_BASIS, 'ANNUAL', ppp.proposed_salary_n,
'HOURLY', (ppp.proposed_salary_n *2080),
ppp.proposed_salary_n
) salary,
sysdate run_date
from
hrfg_person_assignment_history hpah ,
per_pay_proposals ppp,
per_pay_bases ppb,
per_grades pg,
per_jobs pj
where hpah.ASSIGNMENT_ID = ppp.ASSIGNMENT_ID
and hpah.SALARY_BASIS = ppb.PAY_BASIS
and hpah.BUSINESS_GROUP_ID = ppb.BUSINESS_GROUP_ID
and hpah.GRADE_ID = pg.GRADE_ID(+)
and hpah.JOB_ID = pj.JOB_ID (+)
--and hpah.EMPLOYEE_NUMBER = 100779
order by hpah.EMPLOYEE_NUMBER
2. Create another table say TEST_TAB
create table TEST_TAB (emp_no, start_dt) as
SELECT hpah2.EMPLOYEE_NUMBER , MAX(hpah2.PERSON_START_DATE) PERSON_START_DATE
FROM hrfg_person_assignment_history hpah2
GROUP BY hpah2.EMPLOYEE_NUMBER
3. Add both of them in Disco Admin and create a join between TEST_VIEW.emp_no and TEST_TAB.emp_no
4. Bring both these Objects in a new report in Disco Plus
5. Create a New Parameter (Base it on PERSON_START_DATE Col of TEST_TAB)
6. Choose Option Create Condition with operator <=
7. Checkmark "Require User to Enter a Value
8. Execute Report
I believe this should work. Either ways let me know if it helps or u get another workaround. (This scenario looks quite interesting)
Thanks,

Hi All,
I have a problem wherein some specific users are saying that the report is slow at their end.
The exact issue is...we have Discoverer Report present at the US server. Now we have 2 sites CANADA and US from where this report is run. Both sites refer the same server i.e. the US server.
Canadian users are reporting performance problems with this report, but when I run the report at my end there is no such problem.
Please advice what can be the probable reason for this.
Regards,
AnkurHi Ankur
Further to what has been said, if you are running Discoverer Plus across a long time it will take longer to run. Typically the query runs within the database but everything else, formatting, layout, page items and so on is done locally by the Java applet in your local cache. What happens if you run a CANADA report from the US site? Does it run ok? If so, then therein lies the answer. The machines in Canada need to therefore be as powerful as you can make them plus your network needs to be as fast as you can too.
Another way way I have seen this solved is by providing something like a Citrix server in the US for the Canadian customers to log into.
Best wishes

Hi guys,
I have created a link to Discoverer report in applications that works beautifully but there is one downside in it. When we invoike the report to launch in Discoverer Viewer it opens in the same browser window. Does anyone know how to make it open in a new browser window? I have looked into ICX: Discoverer parameters and other profile options but could not find anything pertaining to that. Also looked into Function parameters but seems to be missing it. Help, anybody!

Assuming your initialization matches your discoverer login, it is pretty weird that you get no data.
I am not sure how you got the SQL but i suggest you trace the session to get the exact SQL ran by the discoverer.
You may find another condition or join that limits your data.
Also another thing that you should try is to initial the session by using all the parameters (including the security group as you have in your discoverer login):
begin
fnd_global.APPS_INITIALIZE(user_id =>, resp_id =>, resp_appl_id =>, security_group_id =>);

Discoverer report with PO_RELEASES in R12
Hi all,
I'm migrating a Discoverer report from 11i to R12. The query of the folder uses the po_releases and this join condition "and rcv_transactions.po_release_id = po_releases.po_release_id(+)". When I run the report I get the error "invalid number" but when I tried the same query but using the po_releases_all it seems to work. Is this ok? I saw that in R12 po_releases is just a synonym, is this correct? I would appreciate your comments.
Thanks in advance.
GabrielaThanks Hussein. Yes, I've checked the document you recomend, but the problem seems to be when I try to use po_releases, the synomy) and I don't know why it work with the _all table but not work with the synonym.
