Evaluating an XML expression within from within an XML node

I would like to pass in an E4X expression from a node and
evaluate that expression.
For example, let's say the XML looks like this:
quote:

<value>3.1</value>

<value>2.2</value>

<value
calculated="true">{section.(@id=="a").item.(@id=="1").value +
section.(@id=="a").item.(@id=="1").value}</value>

I would then like to evaluate this from within Flex,
displaying each of the values from the three items and evaluating
the expression that lies in the third item.
Note: this doesn't work... (but it's the idea... that is, to
retrieve the expression from the XML and evaluate it)...
quote:
<mx:Script>

[Bindable]
public var xmlHUD:XML;

</mx:Script>
<mx:Label
text="{myXML.section.item.(@id=='3').value}"/>
If successful, the label would then display the result from
the express in item 3, which would be 5.3 (the result of 3.1 +
2.2).
Any ideas?
David

Your prayer is answered! :)
Check out the DAS.eval() Library; it is designed just for
this purpose. You can pass in a string of any AS3 expression
(including E4X) and even algorithms and get a value back. Check it
out at
Adobe | Communities | Exchange | Flex | Libraries
or simply go to

• Dynamic value binding for InputTextField - Expression within an expression

Hi,
I have this requirement where I have to use an EL expression's output as a bean's property in the value attribute of a InputTextField. E.g.
<h:dataTable value="#{entity.formats}" var="field">
<h:column>
<h:outputLabel value="#{field.shortDesr}"/>
</h:column>
<h:column>
<h:inputText value="#{*entity."+#{field.shortDesr}+*"}"/>
</h:column>
</h:dataTable>
The JSF page will be a generic one so the fields within a form will be dynamic and will be formed at run-time. Since the exact bean property(entity in the code above) for a particular field is not known before, it needs to be dynamicaly built
To give more clarity. In the following snippet, i know that entity is the bean to be used but which property(XXX) the text field has to be bound is not known and needs to be assigned at run-time.
<h:inputText value="#{entity.*XXX*"/>
Is this possible? Are there any direct JSF solution or work arounds for it? Appreciate your inputs.
Thanks
Ranjith

A: Dynamic value binding for InputTextField - Expression within an expression

Hi BaluSC,
Your solution is totally acceptable. But I was also looking for something that can make possible direct binding to the bean properties without going through a Map.
In the meantime, I worked around the problem by not using the DataTable. Instead I loop the collection and add the Form elements programatically (code given below). With this I am able to achieve the desired effect of binding directly to the bean's property. But I am hitting another problem now, On submit the form Seam throws up 'No active conversational context" error while binding the #{sdmManager.grid} attribute. Now, I am trying to figure out how to come across it.
JSF
<h:panelGrid columns="2" binding="#{sdmManager.grid}">
</h:panelGrid>
Bean code
public HtmlPanelGrid getGrid(){
grid = new HtmlPanelGrid();
List<UIComponent> children = grid.getChildren();
Collection<FieldFormatData> formats = dataManager.getFieldFormatData();
for(FieldFormatData format:formats){
HtmlOutputLabel outputLabel = new HtmlOutputLabel();
outputLabel.setValue(format.getShortDesr());
children.add(outputLabel);
HtmlInputText inputText = new HtmlInputText();
inputText.setSize(10);
inputText.setMaxlength(10);
System.out.println("Binding ................................... " + format.getEntityField());
inputText.setValueBinding("value", FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getApplication().createValueBinding("#{entity."+format.getEntityField()+"}"));
children.add(inputText);
return grid;

• Copy SQL Express DB from one server to another

backup, copy to new machine and restore; fix up user securities on new machine; set up maintenance plans; set up applications to point to new database (or if use DNS, no change..) step and repeat - of course during non-use time frame - my 2 cents

Looking for a good way to move a SQL express DB from an instance on one server to a SQL express instance on another server. I have the ability to connect to both through SSMS. Because these are express instances, I don't have the option to just copy the DB. Any help is appreciated.

• Signal express record from 3rd party VI driver

Hi,
Highlight - Can I record data from a 3rd party VI driver in signal express?
Detail - I am tasked with developing a 'easy to use' data logging system for both voltage and temperature. Voltage will be logged via a NI cDAQ module, no problem here, temperature however will be logged from a LakeShore temperature controller, ie from a third party driver. My first thoughts were to use Signal express rather than coding my own GUI, obviously SE is easy to use for cDAQ Voltage modules.... but has it been crippled to prevent the use of VI drivers for third party kit?
Ideally I would like multiple series plotted and recorded by Signal Express, some from the cDAQ modules and some from one or more Lakeshore temperature controller and monitors, is this fundamentally possible in Signal Express? I can see that SE seems to have the ability to run labview VI's so I am hopefull!
I am using NI 2013 - full bells and whistles.
Cheers,

Hello wonderwizard,
Yes you can use a Plug & Play Instrument driver. Some examples have already been created and mentioned in this Knowledge Base Article.

i have a new iMac but having problems installing final cut express 4 from old macbook pro ?

FCE was discontinued nearly 3 years ago and is no longer supported.
I don't know whether it's possible to install it on Mavericks and if you do it may not perform properly.
Final Cut pro X and iMovie are the only Apple apps that are supported.

• I want to transfer Logic Express 9 from my old macbook to my new retina macbook pro???

When I try and transfer Logic Express 9 from my old macbook running mt lion to my retina macbook pro running mt. lion I get the message "You can't use this version of the applicaiton "Logic Express" with this version of OSX."
The version of Logic express is 9.1.8. Both mac's are running 10.8.2. I don't get it.
Can anyone help me on this?

Hi
How did you "transfer" Express?
It might be better to re-install Express 9 from scratch, though without an Optical drive you would need to:
a) Use an external Optical drive
b) Make a disk image of the installer on another computer and then copy that image to the rMBP
c) Make use of Apple's Remote Disk

This bug was introduced in LabVIEW 2013. It is too late for me to get a fix into LabVIEW 2014, but I will file a CAR to get it fixed in a future version.
For now, you can fix the issue in LabVIEW 2013 or 2014 by following these steps:
1. Backup the following file on your system: LabVIEW 20xx\project\ExpressDev.llb
2. Replace it with the version attached to this forum post.
3. (LabVIEW 2014 only) Mass compile ExpressDev.llb.
Thanks for reporting the issue. Let me know if you have any other questions.

• Get xml node name from clob in loop

Hi,
i hv a procedure to get the xml data's(values of the xml) from a clob. in a table.it works fine the parent tags but if the same tag is there for two times then i am not able to loop it because i dont know the tag name for which the loop should be run.
to be clear.
<root>
<tag1>value1
</tag1>
<tag1>value2
</tag1>
</root>
i need to run some fns for each node value so i need to loop for each node having same value pls help me to get the node name.

You can simply alter get xml node name in loop to return a count on just the node you are looking for. Not sure why you need to know the count when you can have the logic iterate through the nodes for you, either as an XMLType or a DOMDocument (see nodelist).

• Express message from SBWP

Hi all,
I had this question from one of my users. She is trying to send an express message to another SAP user via SBWP.
Recipient = Valid SAP User ID
Recipient Type = B (SAP LOGON NAME)
Express Checkbox was checked.
However when I check from SOST, the mail is being sent out as Internet mail to the outlook email id of the recipient. How do we send an Express message from SBWP.
Regds
Thiru

What did you select at the Agent Assignment I mean User or Expression
Upto my knowledge Express mails are Client dependent
For example if you are sending a *Express mail from Client 100 to a SAP user and if the recevier is not logged into the Client 100 then he cannot see any sort of Express message saying that you got a mail
Check it
Because here in my case it is working fine Iam able to send to vairous SAP users

Hi selfdestruct80,
According to your description, you created SSIS package and it works fine. But you got the error message when the SSIS package was called from a SQL Server Agent job.
According to my knowledge, the package may not run in the following scenarios:
The current user cannot decrypt secrets from the package.
A SQL Server connection that uses integrated security fails because the current user does not have the required permissions.
File access fails because the current user does not have the required permissions to write to the file share that the connection manager accesses.
A registry-based SSIS package configuration uses the HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry keys. The HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry keys are user-specific.
A task or a connection manager requires that the current user account has correct permissions.
According to the error message, the SSIS Package ProtectionLevel property to EncryptSensitiveWithPassword as ArthurZ mentioned. To solve the problem, you need to go to Command Line tab, manually specify the paassword in SQL Agent Job with the command like below:
/FILE "\"C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\SQL Server Management Studio\SSIS\Package.dtsx\"" /DECRYPT somepassword /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING E

• Asign paragraph styles to xml nodes

Hello all,
I try to asign paragraph styles to xml nodes. I tried to autoasign the styles to tags and also to assign the styles directly to the xml tags with aid:pstyle. None of it with success. I think that this happens because there is a paragraph formating missing in my xml. I tried to change this with <aid:br/> but also no success.
This is how my xsl looks like:

<xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" version="2.0">

I want to achieve that I can pull the the following tag from the structure view in Indesign to a textframe and the text gets the different formating.

</Text>
Could anyone point me to the right direction? Any help is very welcome. Thank you for your help.

Sorry, my last example was the xsl instead of the xml. Here is the xml I got. I want to pull the Root/Artikel/Text Tag to a frame and all Child tags within should be formated with the corresponding pstyles.
But it looks like as if Indesign just does not tranform the aid5 style upon xml/xlst import. The <aid:br> tags you see are just a try of myself to get the tags within the Text tag separated as paragraph.
But Indesign just interprets them as normal tags and also shows them in the structure pane.
Thank you very much for your help. I also tried to format the text with the paragraph styles by hand and export the whole thing as xml from Indesign. But Indesign just the xml the same way I imported it. The same happens when I manually create a xml structure in Indesign, assign the styles to the text within the frame. Indesign just exports the raw xml structure. But no style declarations. So I can't see how to format the tags the right way.
This is how my xml looks like when I import it with the upper xsl.

• Edit XML node using actionscript?

How would I go about editing an XML node from within
actionscript?
I load the XML from a file, and before I pass it to an
HTTPService I would like to set the field DateTime. The XML file
that I am using can be seen here:
XML Document
When I try doing something like
myXML.fiAPI.fiHeader.Service.DateTime="time here", it creates a new
fiAPI node with all new children. However, I wish to edit the
current DateTime field without creating a new one.
All help is appreciated.

Thanks to both of you.
ctzn99: I tried that as well, after realizing my mistake.
However, it still does not work. I'm certain I have the path right,
but nothing is set (or in other cases, returned). Even when I use
myXML.fiHeader..., It creates a new fiHeader node and the
corresponding nodes underneath it.
ntsiii: That's a very complex example, like you said...
almost overkill for my problem?
Thanks though!

• Xml nodes appearing in spreadsheet

Hi all,
I have another question so thought I'd better start a new thread.
If I have a number of .xml files containing the form data from a Livecycle designer form, I've found that I can merge them all into an excel spreadsheet. When I open up the spreadsheet, I noticed that the data in the first row looks like the following:
form1[0].Table2[1].Row2[0].firstname[0]
I named this field "firstname" in the bindings panel and I thought that this would be the content that would appear in that cell within Excel, but it's adding in all those xml nodes which confuses things a lot.
Is there a way to avoid this?
Appreciate any further assistance.

It doesn't have anything to do with Assignment files (the ICMA format). I said earlier that you'd see that file if you renamed the stories in the Assignments *panel.* (An unfortunate name for the panel. They should call it the InCopy Workflow panel!)
But you're right, on closer inspection, renaming the files in the panel doesn't create the StoryList.xml file (I coulda sworn it *used to*) but not in 5.5.
However as I said earlier, you do get that XML file when you reorder the stories *in the Story or Galley view in InCopy.* (not the Assignment panel) You can drag and drop the story bars in those views so they flow logically (title, byline, body, etc.) there.

• 1 XML node to many Text Frames

In indesign is it possible to map the content of a single XML node element to multiple text frames within an Indesign document?
I have data elements in my XML that I don't want to repeat but they have to appear in multiple places within my document.
Is this possible? What's the trick?
Thanks,
Gordon

I don't have it to test with, but might the Linked Stories feature in CS5.5 allow you to do this? Maybe that's worth a look. I don't know of a way to do it in CS5 or before.

• How to render image from binary property of node?

Hello!
How to put the image to the page from binary property of node in cms? How tags can i use?

Hi,
I have an additional question, regarding the images of a page. As stated above, rendering them works fine. But now I would also like to have them resized within certain boundaries. Is there a way to define the min/max width/height in the design of the page component for these images?
I tried adding a node (name='image', jcr:primaryType=nt:unstructured) to /etc/designs/<myproject>/jcr:content/<mypagecomponent>. I then added minHeight, minWidth, maxHeight, ... properties to that node, but it seems they are not being picked up by the img.png.java servlet from the libs/foundation/page component.
I created this design node based on a similar node which was added in the design of <mypagecomponent> for an 'image' in a 'par' when I changed the design of it.
So I'm wondering if it is at all possible to define a design for the image of a page and if it, how I should do it.
Kind regards,
Luc
