Event in Sub Chain

Hello,
i have a master process chain which contains several sub process chains.
The master process chain ist triggered from an event.
My question know is:
Is it possible to start a sub chain from another event?

Hi Oliver,
what do mean by an other event?
All chains are started via a start process. There you define when the chain is triggered. Sub chains are triggered by an event (successfull or not). You can find this event in the table RSPCCHAIN to your master chain.
If the process chain is exceuted a BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER job is scheduled and executed. Each step in the chain is a new job which will be scheduled and executed according to the entries in the RSPCCHAIN. So the steps wait for an event to be fired. You can start a subchain by ABAP via function module RSPC_API_CHAIN_START and schedule this ABAP.

Process Chain - triggering sub chains at set time interval

Hi all,
Scenario:
I want to setup multiple process chains during the day (hourly intervals). I would like to have a main chain which would then trigger subsequent chains. the problem is that when i tried to setup the sub-chains to run at say, 10am. 11am etc, they don't fire off at those specified times (because they are part of the meta chain?). I currently have the individual chains running independently (i.e. first chain at 10am, 2nd chain at 11am...) - but i need to be able to stop the 2nd chain from running if there is a problem on the 1st chain (which is why i want to run them as part of a Meta chain).

Do you know how long 1st PC will run ? will it finish before 11 am ?
If so, try following proess
Add Abap Program process(under General Services) to the end of the 1st PC and use program BTC_EVENT_RAISE and Enter Program variant = event and activate the PC
Now go to 2nd PC and schedule at 11 am periodically
Add another step Interrupt Process (u can find under General Services ) just after start process and enter event and schedule the pc
When 1st Pc completes sucessfully it will activate the event to trigger 2nd PC , though the event is activated the 2nd pc will start at 11am

Need to skip the data load for one of the sub chain.

In our project, we have one meta chain and have many sub chains inside that. Today we don't want to run one of the sub chain. As we are in BW7.0, Skip options are not available. Can you please help how to stop the data load for the particular sub-chain.Please suggest.

If this is a frequent request then you can create a custom ABAP Program and then use the below simple logic to skip/run the meta chain, but you will also have to change the link between the sub chains as "Always" instead of "Successful" so that no matter if the dependent chain is successful OR not the nex chain will proceed. If you are comfortable with event then you can also use event to achieve this
Program Logic- Create a new table where you maintain meaningful values (indicator/description) in it and the program should read the data from the table, Based on the values in the table the program will be successful/fail

How to create event based process chains

2. How to link created event to the process chain in the same BI or BW system and as well as from
    externel BI system.

1). Doubt regarding first question.
For example, i would like to create time based event (it should be trigger daily at specified time),
where we have to maintain scheduling options while creating event.
When i checked SM62 there i found only two options a). Event name and b). Description.
Could please send any doucument link if you have.
Ans : You can use function modules like "BP_EVENT_RAISE" in a program and schedule the program to trigger.
2). For externel BIW system also same procedure we need to follow or any difference.
Ans : Externally you need to trigger the same event.
3). i found dependent process chain also had scheduling options as direct scheduling insted of start using meta chain or API. As you said dependent process chain should be mata chain. it seems dependent process chain may be Meta chain or Direct scheduilg.
Ans : Its your choice how you want to schedule it.You can either make that dependent chain a metachain or schedule it separately.
I found at the end of first process chain they kept one process like Raise event and second process chain connected with the help of raise event process event name. If you have any idea about this process could explain a bit more.
Ans : May be they are raising the event in the main chain and triggering the dependent chain using this event.
But Metachain is preferred for such thing.Though it does similar thing.

Hi,
Suppose your process chain needs to be started after certain activity is finished, then you can create an event to be triggered when that activity is done. The process chain will start once it gets that triggered event.
This is one use in using events in Process Chains.

Query on using EVENTS in process chains.

Hi,
Process Chain A on completion posts a Trigger using FM - BP_EVENT_RAISE.
Is there an ABAP program to check for the specific event completion from process chain A. Basically , we need an FM or program that reads the event status ( whether event raised or not ) and accordingly triggers another process chain.
We need this fuctionality in process chain B coz we would be using an AND condition that checks for the event trigger from process chain A as well as Step 1 in chain B.

1) Let us say ,Process Chain A, will triggger an event EVENT_A for an example.
instead of one evnt use 2 events, EVENT_A on success and EVENT_B on failure.
2) Link Program A to EVENT_A and Program B o EVENT_B

Using events in Process chain

Hi All,
I have below scenario:
Now we are using event collecter and subsequent event in event collector .
I am going to convert my loads into Process chain from Infopackage groups. My problem is I can use event1 directly in Start of process chain but how to trigger event2 using this chain. I need to trigger event2 once my PC is completed successfully. The even2 will trigger a background job to execute one ABAP program. This ABAP program triggers event1 again if it meets certain requirement.

Event1(Start) --> Sequence of PC steps --> ABAP Program Process Type (To trigger Event2) --> Event2 triggers again Event1( If meets requirement)
What is your End of the Process Chain if it triggers again Event1?
Why do you want to trigger events in a cyclic way?

How to trigger Process event in Process Chain

We have a Process chain in which the Event is seen in Yellow ,but it is finished. Down the below Event is not trigerring. How to do that. Please suggest.

Goto SE38 run the function module RSPC_PROCESS_FINISH by providing the entries in LOGID, TYPE, VARIENT, INSTANCE and STATE.
These entries can be get in the table RSPCPROCESSLOG. To execute the table entries go to SE16 and give table name RSPCPROCESSLOG and press enter. Then in the processchain where the chain got stuck, double click on the varient and goto chain tab and you will get VARIENT and INSTANCE.
Copy and paste these in the table RSPCPROCESSLOG selection screen and execute. Here you will get LOGID, TYPE, VARIENT, INSTANCE.
Enter all these field in function module RSPC_PROCESS_FINISH by providing the STATE as G and execute.
Your stuck process chain will move further.

PBO Event at Sub screen as Selection-Screen

Hello
I would like to do the following: in a function group I have a main screen which includes a sub screen
1300 as selection screen defined with the following command:
SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF SCREEN 1300 AS SUBSCREEN.
SELECTION-SCREEN END OF SCREEN 1300.
Now, I would like to process within the PBO of this sub screen 1300 to manipulate some fields (such as deactivate or set a default value using
LOOP AT SCREEN ENDLOOP.). I need an event like INITIALIZATION in a report, but here Im not in a report context.
Is it possible to take the PBO event to process the PBO by own functions?

On the selection screen some fields shall be displayed only if they are needed. These fields shall be deactivated using:
Loop at screen.
case XXX.
      when T1.
               screen-invisible = 1.
               screen-active    = 0.
endcase.
modify screen.
endloop.
I need the PBO event. Where can I set this code?

Handling User Events in sub panel vis and main vis with same Event reference Number.

Hi All, Iam trying to work to handle events in both subpanel vi and main vi.
I have a main program, and 2 sub vi. I will load the sub VI in 2 sub panels in main vi. Each sub pael vi has controls on it.
I have created 2 User events for 2 sub panels vi. One user event consits of a Cluster with 2 Booleans (x & Y) and Other User Event consists of cluster of 2 unsigned 8 Numbers (a & b). These are created and registered in the main Vi and event register refnum is passed to the subpanel vi from the main panel vi.
I have Event structure in main panel and sub panel vis.
In one sub panel vi, When the value of one boolean(i.e. X) in the clusters changes, the Events structure in sub panel vi should perform some operation in sub panel vi only. When the value of other boolean (i.e. Y) changes it should perform some operation in main vi. I will try to Generate user event with the x value and Y value changed based on the control clicks in the sub panel vi.
The OTher panel vi should behave in the smae way when the a & b value changes.
The "Generate User Event" is working fine some times and sometimes there in no event triggered in the sub panel vi or main vi.
Please let me know what is the problem Ramesh.

There is a lot of talking, but not much understanding. It'd be better if you posted some example VI's of what you are trying to do so that the words will make sense.
One thing I can tell you is that you don't want to have two event structures handle the same event reference number. You want to have two event registrations with each one going to its own event structure.

Event in meta chain

Hi All,
I have a requirement like ,the last local process chain(L) in the metachain should trigger only after the completion of all local chains above it and the other process chain(A) which is not included in this meta chain.For this I have created a metachain like ,
1.it has 4 local chains in it
2.AND process type
3.Last local chain(L)
In this last local chain(L) ,I have included event(this event is included at the end of the other process chain(A) which is not in this meta chain) in its direct scheduling.
When I tested this process chain,in a way that, first I scheduled the other process chain(A), and the metachain.so the last loacal chain(L) waited for all its above local chains to complete even though the other process chain(A) which has event programme completed first.
But when I tested vice versa, that is,first I scheduled the metachain,then this last loacal chain(L) didn't wait for that the other process chain(A) to complete.
Can you please let me know how to meet this condition using event.

Hi,
As mentioned above, an event is used to trigger the process chain.
Just to give you an example,
Suppose that you dont want your daily process chain to get triggered on saturday.
In that case, you can write a program to check which day of the week it is, and return an event id through the program.
This program can be used in a new process chain, which will execute everyday.
This event id can then be used in the start variant of your process chain, using the option After Event.
Hence, your daily process chain will get triggered only if the Event id returns the day as Sunday to Friday.
It will not get triggered on Saturdays.
