Events Affect Availability

Hi,
What does this option do on the information window for iCal server calendars? Mine is unchecked but my availability is as before the upgrade (i.e blocks me out when it should for making appointments).
I've searched all about but can find no references to this new option.

For a user having this problem, can you use Safari to browse to the following URL:
https://<<yourserver>>:8443/calendars/users/<<uid>>/inbox/
Substituting your server's hostname for <<yourserver>> and the user id for <<<uid>>.
You will be prompted to authenticate - do so as that user.
In the resulting page of information search for 'calendar-free-busy-set'. Attach the property value to your reply.
Then get the user to toggle the availability option for the calendar. Refresh the Safari webpage and attach the new property value.

ICal Delegates are all set to "events affect availability"

I am using iCal to view my personal calendars and also several "delegates" calendars. These calendars were added using the "Accounts I can access" under the "Delegation" tab of the account pane. This is all working fine, except for one major problem. All the calendars that I can view but aren't my own have the "events affect availability" box checked and it cannot be unchecked. This means that when I try to schedule an event it looks like I am busier than I really am. For instance, one of the calendars is for a conference room, so I look busy whenever the room is busy. Also, I look busy whenever my wife is busy. I can tell iCal to not use my personal calendars when determining my free/busy time, but I am forced to be busy whenever someone else is busy. This seems very backwards to me. Can this be fixed or is it a bug?
Some calendars are through exchange and others are through google. They all have this problem.

All-Day-Events Not affecting Availability

Hi All,
We have iCal server setup on 10.5.4 and I've come across a bug in the iCal client (3.05).
If someone has created an event and checked it as All-Day, that event will not affect that users availability if someone else tries to add them as an attendee.
I have checked the option on for each calendar (Get Info) that "Events Affect Availability". Other events do affect availability, just not events flagged as "All Day".
Any ideas? Or is it still a bug in 10.5.5 (also happened in 10.5.4)?

In the iCalendar data format used to represent the event information, there is a TRANSP property that can indicate whether a specific event contributes to freebusy or not. By default iCal makes timed events appear as busy, and all-day events appear as free (transparent). There is no way in iCal itself to change that. The only workaround when using iCal is to create a timed event that blocks out 24 hours.

Is socket's Event.OutputProgressEvent available in FP11 beta?

We're working to extend the as3httpclient library to support the new outputProgress event in flash.net.socket. However, I have received the following error:
VerifyError: Error #1014: Class flash.events::OutputProgressEvent could not be found.
The documentation for flash.net.socket suggests that outputProgress will be available in both FP11 and Air.

Looks like a typo in the documentation. This API is available on the flash.net.Socket API available for both Flash Player and Adobe AIR.
You may get this runtime error cause you are not using the proper SWF version, so the APIs are not enabled, make sure you add the -swf-version=13 argument to the compiler. It should unlock the FP11/AIR3 APIs.

Does Print driver type (XPS V GDI) affect availability of "Color Mode Model" in Publisher 2013 to get CMYK colours

Trying to export a Publisher 2013 file to Commercial Printer standard for our printers. They require CMYK.
In the Publisher 2013 stand alone software - it is possible to change from RGB to CMYK in the "Choose Color Model" area in Info.
But in the server based Publisher 2013 - in Info, the Choose Color Model is not offered :(
Anyone know how to change RGB to CMYK in the server version of Publisher 2013? Thanks

Since Publisher 2013, you no longer have to choose a color model for your publication. In prior versions of Publisher, several different color modes were supported, with RGB mode for screen and desktop printers, and single, process, and spot color modes
for more specialized, commercial printing cases. We have simplified this in the new version, and now use RGB mode for all cases, enhanced to export additional color information when saving the publication.

Just as a quick update, Melon-
Using Office 2010 I went into "Choose Color Mode" and changed to CMYK. Used the pack and go and packed it onto a stick. The Office Administrator then walked it round to the printers, who took a look. Printers are happy as the CMYK and quality (DPI,
etc) is all to what they want.
Based on the high number of posts and threads about the failings of Publisher 2013, and especially the CMYK issues - I guess someone needs to address that as a service pack ;)

What affects available memory/how do I recover it?

What things affect my computer's available memory, and more importantly, how do I recover memory that HAS been used and is logically no longer being used?
When I opened Google Earth, my "Available" (as displayed in the "Macintosh HD Info" window) went from roughly 1.3 GB to 613.2 MB...and long after I closed it, it's still down to 613.2 MB. Does memory work such that it becomes available when the memory-hogging program is closed, or is it different? I had a similar pair of incidents last week; I used LimeWire once and when I quit, the available memory increased, but the second time I opened it, used it, and quit it, the available memory remained low.
I do have an external hard drive that I use mainly for pictures, but I'm having a hard time easily finding all the other things that take up gigabytes on my 55.89-gig internal hard drive. Is there a program that lists every single entity on my computer by size, so I can go through it and delete the big stuff I don't use?

You'll need to free up enugh space using cosmichobo's tip first before you can safely download and run Whatsize to help you find and remove enough unnecessary files to keep at least 5 GB free on the boot drive. It goes without saying, don't delete anything you're not certain of! Files in the /Users path are generally safe to trash; anything in the /System, /Library, /private, or other operating system paths should only be trashed if you're certain it's an unnecessary temp or scratch file.
As for why free hard drive space dropped when you opened Google Earth, the program likely needed more RAM than was available and so created a new swap file in /private/var/vm (swap files should be cleared when the computer restarts).

How can I use ONE Text search iView to event/affect mutliple Result Sets?

hello everyone,
i have a special situation in which i have 6 flat tables in my repository which all have a common field called Location ID (which is a lookup flat to the Locations table).
i am trying to build a page with a free-form text search iView on Table #1 (search field = Location ID). when I execute the search, the result set for Table #1 is properly updated, but how do I also get Result Set iViews for Tables #2-6 to also react to the event from Text Search for Table #1 so that they are updated?
i don't want to have to build 6 different text search iViews (one for each table). i just want to use ONE text search iView for all the different result set tables. but, in the documentation and iView properties, the text search iView doesn't have any eventing.
if you have any suggestions, please help.

that should not be a problem, since you are detailw with result sets and detail iviews because custom eventing can be defined for those iviews.
Yes, it says "no records" found because an active search and record selection havent' been performed for it (only your main table does).
So, yes, define a custom event, and pass the appropriate parameters and you should be fine.
Creating a custom event between a Result Set iView and an Item Details iView is easy and works. I have done it.
See page 35 of the Portal Content Development Guide for a step-by-step example, which is what I used.
For my particular situation, the problem I'm having is that I want the Search Text iView's event (i.e., when the Submit button is pressed) to be published to multiple iViews, all with different tables. Those tables all share some common fields, which is what the Search iView has, so I'd like to pass the search critera to all of the iViews.

Once the order is booked, i would like to sync up this order into the 3rd party System. I was looking for the business events provided by oracle.
Show/Change Sales Order - A business event (oracle.apps.ont.oi.show_so.create) can be raised to trigger generation of a SHOW SO or CHANGE SO XML message. The value of one of the event parameters determines which of the two messages will be generated. The SHOW SO message contains status information about an order and can be generated on demand or as a result of changes to an existing sales order. The CHANGE SO message is used to notify the buyer of changes to a sales order and can be raised as a result of status or attribute changes on a sales order.
Can we use the above business event for my case. Please suggest.

You cannot use that as that event is specifically raised when you have used order import (OI) for the XML integration. If you are entering the order from the front end then you have two options:
1. Have a node in header level workflow that raises the integration message the way you want it.
2. Or use ASO order feedback concept. I like this one as this gives you what ever even you need to send to the third party systems. It has information about entire order (all tables information). I have some information in this link , but you can find lot more in documentation and support site.

Create Event Not Available

I flagged a bunch of photos in my grandsons faces whatever you call those. I want to slect them and make a new album or event. I can't do it. The create events selections under event are all greyed out. If I try to create a new folder or album I can't do just the flagged photos. Why isn't it possible to go to edit and select just flagged photos and then create an folder or album?

How about:
Events Menu -> Create Event from FLagged Photos?
Folders don't hold photos, Folders can only contain Albums or nested folders. Albums contain photos.
To create an Album from Flagged Photos:
Click on the Faces item on the left. Then Command-a to select all. Then command-n
That will give you a new album with the flagged photos.

Z 30 software problems affecting availability in uk

I am a tmobile user who would like to upgrade to the z30...
Tmobile inform me that the z 30 availability was knocked back on a software issue..
They say they can only make the z30 available once the software issue has passed thier quality controle..
Please can you verify this and provide me with a time frame update as to when I might be able to get my hands on one...
there are hundreds of folks like me who need to know...The lack of info on this is most disappointing indeed....

Is there a way to stop iCal moving address info from event text into 'location'??

Hi, I've just come back to the forum after a long time away, so sorry if this has already been covered, but...
When I create a new event in iCal and type in text which includes an address, the address segnment is automatically moved into 'location'. I find this infuriating as for work reasons I later need to copy and paste all the event text into another app, and the address is now in a different place! As an additional irritation, iCal also screws with the address text and switches the postal code into upper and lower case, so I have to re-type part of it when I move it back into the main event text. Any way to stop this happening? Thanks!

Since I migrated to iCloud and re-shared my calendars, my wife gets an email every time I add, delete, or modify an event in a shared calendar. I can't find the setting to shut this off. Where do I look?

ICal entry/event e-mails

How do I turn off the e-mail alerts to new entries in shared calendars? I had this issue a year ago when it first surfaced in OSX, and now it has suddenly happening again. "Events affect availability" is turned off on all shared calendars, so that is not causing it. Any ideas from anyone? These e-mails are annoying.

She needs to be in your address book with an email address. Edit the event you want to send. Click on Add Invitees. Enter name. Done!
