Every time I restart my computer, the contents of iTunes clear!!!!!

When my Dell computer is restarted, the iTunes clears out and that shouldn't be happening. It is terribly annoying and I am in need of help.
Thank you.

I reinstalled again and I tried to drag the Spotify icon from my dock into applications. That didn't work. (I know I'm probably telling you what you already know, but I wanted to share for other less advanced users like myself).
I searched in Finder and could not find Spotify.
I quit Spotify without rebooting and it disappeared from my dock. I was worried.
I then went to finder, chose Go and Computer, then I searched spotify on my hard drive, and Spotify was there. When I looked at its path, it appeared to be in Apps, but it wasn't appearing in the Apps folder. So, I dragged the Spotify icon from my search results into Apps, and now, my problem is solved.
I'm not sure what was going on, but I'm happy to have it fixed, and I appreciate your help.

  • Every time I restart my computer, the spotify app disappears and I have to reinstall it.

I just reformatted my MacBook Pro and I've re-downloaded and re-installed Spotify every day since because a reboot makes the app disappear from my dock and from the apps list. I cannot find any trace on my computer. It is very odd. Any thoughts?
    Thanks

  • Must reseat My x-fi express card every time I restart my computer

AMust reseat My x-fi express card every time I restart my computerW I am forced to reseat my x-fi express notebook card every time I turn my computer on in order for it to work which is very frustrating since I do a lot of video recording by Firewire and need the card to work reliably. Once i reseat it into the express slot, it works fine, but not before then.
    I have a Dell XPS M730 running XP sp3.
It is apparently a driver problem because if I forget to reseat during bootup, both Sony Sound Forge and Adobe Premiere Pro .5 freeze up when I try to load them at they are scanning for audio devices.
    So far I've tried:
    1) disabling the on-board sound card hoping to eliminate a possbile confilct.
    2. Downloading the latest drivers, etc.
Does anyone have an idea of how to solve the problem?
    Thanks

    1. If you log in automatically, a bug in some versions of OS X will cause the desktop picture to revert to the default image at every startup. The only known workaround is to disable automatic login in the Users & Groups preference pane.
    2. If the selected Desktop picture is stored in an iPhoto library on an external drive, export it from iPhoto and move it to a folder on the startup volume. (Credit for this solution to ASC member janay.)
    3. If the desktop picture always reverts to a plain blue background, one of your login items may be causing the problem. The "TeamViewer" application can have this effect; see this thread. If it's not that in your case, rule out all other third-party login items as possible causes.
    4. If you have a MacBook Pro with automatic graphics switching, disable it temporarily in the Energy Saver preference pane, set the Desktop picture, then restart the computer and re-enable graphics switching.
    5. If none of the above applies to you, proceed as follows.
    Back up all data.
In the Finder, hold down the option key and select
              Go ▹ Library
from the menu bar. From the Library folder, delete the following item, if it exists:
              Caches/com.apple.systempreferences
and move the following items to the Desktop, if they exist:
              Application Support/Dock/desktoppicture.db
              Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
Launch System Preferences and test. If you still have the issue, put the items you moved to the Desktop back where they came from and post again. Otherwise, delete the items.

  • Font Book disables fonts every time I restart my computer

First, some info on my computer:
    - OS X 10.9.3
    - Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 version 7.5
    - Office 2011 14.4.3
    - Suitcase Fusion 5 16.2.0
As a graphic designer, I've accumulated thousands of fonts. In an attempt to clean this up, I recently purchased Suitcase Fusion 5. I transferred the fonts by going into Font Book and selecting "Restore Standard Fonts." I then took the Macintosh HD; Library; "Fonts (Removed)" folder and added those to Suitcase Fusion 5.
Then I went back, and added about five of the removed fonts back into Macintosh HD; Library; Fonts — just because they are fonts I use frequently — as well as the Microsoft folder of fonts.
Now, for some reason, every time I start my computer (I shut down every night before leaving my office) about half of the Microsoft fonts are disabled by font book. The next day I enable them and everything works well and they all show up in both my Adobe and Office programs, but I'd really rather not play that game every morning. Again, almost all of the fonts being disabled are in the Macintosh HD; Library; Fonts; Microsoft folder, but only until the Ms or so, after which point they all show up as enabled and work just fine. And then there are a couple of outliers I've marked with an asterisk, that are just in the typical Macintosh HD; Library; Fonts folder that are also being disabled, the most confusing one being ThirstyRoughTextures.ttf, because the rest of the Thirsty Rough family is working just fine. (This single Thirsty Rough file is the only of the five-or-so fonts that I added back into my library after restoring it to standard fonts that is acting up. The others show up in all programs just fine.)
Anyhow, does anyone know why this might be happening, or how to resolve the issue? Any input would be great, thanks!

I'm fed up with Font Book and ready to remove it.
Just to keep it easily handy, put the Font Book app on an external drive. All other supporting system files for it will still be on the drive, so using it again rather than a third party font manager is as simple as copying FB back into the Applications folder.
It is essential after deleting Font Book to follow the steps in my article to remove the abandoned Font Book database. Even with the main Font Book app removed from the drive, if the database exists, OS X will keep trying to read and use it, and it will interfere with all other font managers.
which seemingly only activates fonts once I open up that extension
Those are extension panels Suitcase adds to apps they've written them for so you don't have to go to the main interface in order to turn fonts on or off. It's a convenience thing to speed up access to your font sets.
what will happen to programs like Microsoft Office that aren't compatible with Fusion?
If you use a panel in the Adobe apps to turn any fonts on or off, all apps system wide will see the changes in available fonts since that's how it works with any manager. Or, you can launch the main Suitcase interface to do the same thing.
MS Office has an annoying quirk I haven't seen with any other app. It will not pay attention to any fonts you've activated or deactivated after Word has been launched. That's not a Suitcase issue, it's any font manager. Office simply does not keep tabs on available fonts while in use. To see fonts you've activated after Word is already running, you have to quit Word and relaunch it. Same with turning fonts off. Doesn't matter that they're not available any more. If they were when you launched Word, they'll continue to show in the list. Attempting to use one of course doesn't work. It types in Arial, or something, but not what you chose since it can't.
Is FontBook irrelevant and Office/any other program still just utilizes the actual HD/Library/Fonts folder without it?
When font management is working as it supposed to, all apps (save Office) will change the list of fonts you can use as you turn them on or off. It used to be, way back in Tiger, 10.4 (before 10.4.3) and earlier that any fonts in the System or main Library folder were available all the time with no way to control them, other than physically deleting fonts from those folders. This is still true of the System's Fonts folder.

  • All of a sudden actions having to be reloaded in CC every time I restart my computer.

Anyone know how to fix the CC from dropping my actions everytime I restart my computer. I love CC but I will not keep the subscription if I have to go thru all the actions I have purchased every time I reopen CC. I have been dealing with it for 3 days now and about tired of it already.

Nobody can say anything without system information. In any case, presets and prefs not sticking boils down to local permissions and user privileges issues 99% of the time and has nothing to do with Adobe nor is it a flaw in the software - Adobe can't circumvent security restrictions that your admin or some security tool has imposed or else they would be pointless in the first place. So you need to check that stuff on your user profile folder and fix it.

  • Why do multiple programs open up every time I restart my computer?

Everytime I shut down or restart my computer CS5, Bridge, Mail, Safari Ical, and Icalibrate all open up upon restarting. It is SO annoying! How do I get it to stop?

First, you may not have closed all your applications, then....You didn't unclick "reopen windows when logging back in" in the shutdown dialog box.
Yes, it is a pain in the ^&$ function of Lion.
This is what I use for a quick, clean, and easy shutdown with one click. No worry about apps reopening.
Once installed in you Applications folder, copy(drag) the app icon to the dock. and you are set. One click, and you have a clean shutdown.

  • Why is Terminal opening up automatically every time I restart my computer?

Just recently, I've noticed that, upon re-starting my computer, Terminal would open up automatically with the same window and text content. Below is a screen capture of what is showing up. It does not seem to affect my computer, but its a little unnerving. Any help would be greatly appreciated... thanks.

    Thanks - LexSchellings for replying.
Regrettably I do not have startupitems as a directory. Perhaps I am not interpreting this correctly, however here are my Library subdirectories - if you could point to the correct section that might be related.

  • Have to create a new folio every time I restart my computer, any fix?

I'm having some major issues with updating articles. When I shut off my computer, on restart I can't open or update the articles in my folio. The only way to get them to update or even connect to source files is to create a new folio and re-import all of my articles again.
    I've tried:
-Checking for and installing all adobe updates
    -Re-installing INDD and DPS
-Logging out of Folio Builder and back in
-Making sure I'm not connected to any other user servers etc.
Would really like not to have to recreate this folio everytime I shut down. I'm on CS6, Mac OS 10.6.8.  Any ideas?

I figured it out. I have to disconnect from servers and user drives, a problem I've experienced with Bridge and Photoshop in the past. I should have thought of it sooner:

  • Every time I restart my computer, I have to log in to Microsoft Office 365 to use applications

After starting my computer, I have to sign into Microsoft 365 or enter a product key to open up Word documents, Excel sheets or Powerpoint. This is problematic because I don't always have internet wherever I go and thus, don't have access to Office. Help!

    Hi
According to your description, you want to work offline with Office 365.
Internet access is required to install and activate all Office 365 plans and to manage your subscription account. Internet connectivity is also required to access Office 365 cloud productivity services, including email, conferencing, IT management, and other
    services.
Many Office 365 plans also include the desktop version of Office, for example, Office 365 Small Business Premium and Office 365 Enterprise E3. One of the benefits of having the desktop version of Office applications is that you can work offline and have
the confidence that the next time you connect to the Internet all your work will automatically sync, so you never have to worry about your documents being up to date. Your desktop version of Office is also automatically kept up to date and upgraded when you
connect to the Internet, so you always have the latest tools to help you work.
    Compare Office 365 plans.
Office365 supports offline working in a number of ways.
SharePoint Online – Use SharePoint Workspace to synchronise Documents between your local PC and your SharePoint Online Site allowing offline working.
Use Microsoft Office Professional Plus – Subscribe and receive you can install the full install of the Microsoft Office Suite to use on your computer (and up to 4 others which you use) – this includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Onenote, Access, Lync,
    SharePoint Workspace & Infopath.

It deletes my history it acts like i just downloaded firefox it gives me the two webpages on how to use firefox and it also cleans all my saved passwords and any cookies i had. the only thing that stays safe is my bookmarks thank god! but it's quite annoying to have your history cleared and all the settings put back to default.

  • Every time I restart my computer, I need to run disk utility to repair my startup disk.

Usually it corrects volume file counts, volume directory counts, and free block counts. Fortunately, I can use the Lion recovery volume, but it is starting to get annoying, and I am worried about my data. How do I fix this?

You have to delete the corrupt back-up so iTunes can at least back-up the current data on the iPhone and then restore it. Search these forums, there a several good posts on how to delete the corrupt back-up.

  • How can I keep from having to "re-activate" my add-on's in Firefox each time I restart my computer. This is a pain in the A**

Every time I restart my computer, Firefox makes me "re-activeate" or "re-enable" my add-on's . This is a major pain, and is at the point where I am about to dump FF and move to Chrome. How can I stop the insanity.

If this is happening to all your add-ons:
Firefox stores the information about whether you've seen the prompt about add-on compatibility in a pref:
    [email protected]
What may be going on is that something is preventing Firefox from saving that preference and so it keeps triggering the prompt. Go to Help > Troubleshooting Information and click the Show Folder button next to "Profile Directory". Look for a file called prefs.js -- right click on it and select properties. Make sure it's not read-only or locked in any way.
There are other suggestions in the [[Preferences are not saved]] article if that doesn't help.
