  • Behaviour of AXIS with Spring and Java, in response to bad webservice call

This is a stretch, but I wonder if you can help me - I'm new to this, and working in a project that has already been configured to work with Axis.
We have a Java project built with the Spring framework, in order to provide webservices for access via SOAP. As I understand it (ie not very well!) Axis works to accept these SOAP messages from the client and transform them into calls on our Java methods, and do the reverse with the responses - cool! Which is excellent, and it works well with the config files we have already set up.
But I have two problems/questions, which may well be related
    2) In trying to test what exactly happens in which case, I sent some test messages to the service, and found that I could send incorrect parameter names, and sometimes the service still gets called! Axis seems to match the data it recieves to the parameters of the method in some clever way that I dont understand. Sometimes this works, sometimes it shows a type error. But it seems to depend what parameter I rename as to what exactly happens, so the results are (superficially, at least) unpredictable! I'm sure this behaviour is configurable in some way, but I can't seem to find out how this is done. I'd like to make it so that missing parameters are passed into the method as nulls (as is happening now), but that badly named, duplicated or extraneous parameters are refused, with a specific errormessage stating what the issue is. Similarly, I'd like to reply with an explanatory message if a parameter is passed wth an incorrect type, rather than just a message "org.xml.sax.SAXException: Bad types" that does not detail which parameter is problematic.
    1) The client can receive a "500" response, with an "Internal Server Error" message, although I'm having trouble figuring out exactly when this happens. I'd like to be able to configure what message they receive, in order to give them more information about what they got wrong.
I just don't know where to start with this - I'm sure there must be ways of configuring all this!
As much info about an example of what I'm looking at as seems sensible follows. Please forgive me if I've used incorrect terminology somewhere! :)
    Thanks a heap,
    Tracey
    ======================
So, let's say I have a Java class called DiaryService, with a method called createDiary that takes the appropriate data and returns a confirmation/error message - it starts like this :
        public String createDiary(final String library,
final BigDecimal companyCode, final Date diaryDate,  final Date actionedDate,
final String diaryMessage) throws RemoteException And another called GetDiary that returns a Diary as a SOAP bean which looks like this :
        public DiarySoapBean getDiary(final String library,
final BigDecimal companyCode, final Date diaryDate) throws RemoteExceptionAxis very helpfully lets me access the createDiary and getDiary, by sending XML messages like this example:
    <soapenv:Body xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
    <ns1:createDiary soapenc:root="1" xmlns:ns1="http://localhost:8080/morph_zta/services/DiaryService" xmlns:soapenc="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/">
    <library xsi:type="xsd:string" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/1999/XMLSchema-instance">ZRMORPHTA</library>
    <companyCode xsi:type="xsd:Decimal" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/1999/XMLSchema-instance">1</companyCode>
    <diaryDate xsi:type="xsd:date" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/1999/XMLSchema-instance">2007-01-01Z</diaryDate>
    <actionedDate xsi:type="xsd:date" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/1999/XMLSchema-instance">2007-01-01Z</actionedDate>
    <diaryMessage xsi:type="xsd:string" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/1999/XMLSchema-instance"/>Blah blah blah</diaryMessage>
    </ns1:createDiary>
</soapenv:Body>If I rename a parameter, the service may get called, with some other data in that parameter or not, or may not get called at all and the user get a "SAXException: Bad types" error message. I would like it to return a message stating that the parameter is not expected.
If I duplicate a parameter, the first occurrence appears to be used, and the next ignored. I would like it to return a message saying tnat the extra parameter is not expected.
If I add gibberish parameters, I get a "No such operation" message. I would like to be able to tell which parameters are incorrect.

    Hi,
I have solved the problem, I forgot a parameter in the select, so java tells the an error. But now I have another problem. The procedure doesn't execute the order by. I pass the couple column_name order_type in a string as ("provider_description desc") dinamically but the procedure doesn't execute the ordering. Why?
    Thanks, bye bye.

  • Download functionality in EXCEL and PDF format to the  Webdynpro iView

    Hi Expert,
I am using NW 7.0 ehp1 sp3. I developed some Webdynpro RFC model application for the product catalog of the material related data.
Now my requirement is to provide the download functionality in EXCEL and PDF format to all of these Webdynpro (java) iView.
How we can achieve this requirement? In which part of the webdynpro application we have to write the code?
Someone can help me very clearly in steps to achieve this?
    Thanks,
    Kundan

    Hi,
I don't think it is possible to redirect the html stream of the Web Dynpro iView to a PDF / Excel document, since it essentially would mean you have to call the Web Dynpro application again, maintaining the state and context of the iview itself
However, using (for instance) the JExcelApi (Excel) or iText (PDF) you could create documents using the data displayed in your Web Dynpro iView, which has the added benefit you could design and layout your PDF / Excel documents in a more suitable layout for printing (most WD applications look horrible when printed)
    Cheers,
    Robin

  • Excel and Word 2011 crash on opening

I'm not sure if this is a more common issue from earlier versions of office, but with the combination of Lion and Office 2011 I am having repeated issues. For reference I am using a new Mac Air i5 with plenty of disk space and memory.
In summary, Excel and Word worked for a while, but once a file crashes for some reason then I cannot open either application at all - just stuck in the endless loop of crash on attempting open and then re-open to no effect.
I have tried several solutions including:
    - complete office re-install (worked for a few days until the next crash)
    - holding "shift" (no effect)
    - deleting temp files and plist files following online forum advice (no effect)
Note: I am not using complex excel files with macros (etc), just dropbox copies of simple spreadsheets.
Can anyone else offer an alternative solution?

    Hi!
I got this crash as well. followed the instructions to delete the plist file and holding the shiftkey did not work for me. The is the bit that bites...removed Office 2011 as per instructions and still only Excel does not work.
Anyone know of a solution? Seems like the latest update on my machine was a Java update from Apple.
    Here is my error log.

  • Problem with new-line-character and java.io.LineNumberReader under AIX

    Hi folks,
I got the following problem: I wrote a little parser that reads in a plain-text, tabulator-separated, line-formatted logfile (and later on safes the data to a 2-dimensional Vector). This logfile was originally generated by an AIX ksh script, however, I copied it on my Windows machine to work with it (for I'm using a Java editor that runs under Win Systems).
For any reason, Windows, and what is worse Java too, seems not to recognize correctly the new-line character (in the API it is written that this should be a newline '\n' or a carriage-return '\r' or one followed by the other) that marks the end of a line in the logfile.
Also, when I'm opening the logfile with the "Notepad"-editor, this special character does not seem to be recognized, every line is inserted right after the other.
On the other side, when I open the logfile with the built-in editor in the CMD-Shell ("Dos-shell"), the newline chars seem to be recognized correctly.
But when start my parser on the AIX-machine the newline does not seem to be recognized correctly again.
I tried to read in the logfile with MS-Excel and safe it as a plain-text, tabulator-separated, line-formatted logfile again, with such files my parser works fine both on the AIX as it does on Windows.
Any ideas? Anybody got over the same problem already?
    Greetz FK

Under windows, text files' lines are usually delimited by \r\n,
    under Unix/Linux/AIX etc. \n
    and under Mac \r.
I recommend to use the following editors, which are capable to handle files with Unix and Windows-styled line-delimiters or convert between these types:
Programmer's File Editor (PFE; available on Windows)
The Nirvana Editor (http://www.nedit.org/; available on Unix, MAcOS, Windows)
(BTW good old vim can handle that too. Transferring text files to windows in order to edit them, even using Excel for this purpose means your being a UNIX newbie, (I mean no offense by writing this) so vim is probably beyond your reach for the moment.)
Java normally assumes the platform's line delimiters where it is running, so if you transferred the file from Unix to Windows might be distrurbing.

  • Read data from Excel and write into oracle database

    Hi
I want  to know how can i read data from excel and write into oracle database using java.Kindly help me out to find a solution.
    Thanks and Regards
    Neeta

    Hai,
    I am suggesting the solution.
I will try out and let u know soon.
Make a coma separated file from your excel file.
Assuming that your requirement allows to make a csv file.
This file may be passed as an file object to be read by java.Using JDBC you must be able to populate the data base. You can also use String Tokenizer if needed.
You do not want to  go via sql Loader?
For reading the excel file itself do you want java?

  • Integrating Excel with Java

    Hi,
How can Excel be integrated with Java such that if a user is working on an Excel , my Java application should be able to capture all the events from Excel Sheet.
I have looked into POI, but it seems to me , it can read and wriite to Excel from Java, but i would like that if a user is making changes to a spredsheet then my Java Application should be notified about those changes
In short, i would like to expose front end of a web application in Execl!
Is there any open source package that can help in doing the integration
    Kindly share your views/ suggestions

    jschell wrote:
If you just want most of what is occuring in Excel only then there are probably events in the Excel API (OLE >probably) that allow you to modify and react to changes. In my experience figuring out how to do that is very >difficult even for small bits of functionality. Can u please explain a little more on this.
Can i use JNI to listen to COM server, probaly if i create some proxies for Excel that use JNI to listen to COM Server.
I found a link on the internet http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/library/j-bridge/
This Java bridge can integrate COM objects into their applications. But i am not sure if i can capture the live stuff from an Excel file when somebody is editing it.
Also i would like to know, what should be the best stratergy when i would like to expose the Front end of an application in Excel , since the application involves a lot of numbers and users are more comfortable with Excel interface, and the rest of the application you want in Java.
Kindly share your views on this!

    try this: this is simple
First You have to download the jxl.jar file. You can get this file from the Below site
    JExcelApi v2.6.4 (1747kbytes)
It will be in Compressed Fromat So Unzip it to get the Contents
After Unzipping The File You will get a Folder (jexcelapi/jxl.jar)
Now in NWDS open web dynpro explorer, Right Click Your Project, a popup menu will appear and in that click Properties
You will get window displaying your Project Properties
On Left Side of the window You Will Find "Java Build Path"
Click That "Java Build Path" and you will get 4 Tabs Showing ( Source,Projects,Libraries,Order and Export)
    Click Libraries Tab
You will find options many options buttons
In that click the Button "Add External Jars"

  • Whats is difference between Java JRE  and  Java SDK

    Hi,
what is the difference between Java JRE and Java SDK...
i think both of them have the same set of files to be installed...
I am not able to understand where they differ

The JRE (Java runtime Environment) contains just the stuff necessary to run Java and the SDK (System Development Kit) contains the extra stuff necessary (and also helpful) to develop in Java.

  • What is difference between C# Gzip and Java swing GZIPOutputStream?

    Hi All,
I have a Java swing tool where i can compress file inputs and we have C# tool.
I am using GZIPOutputStream to compress the stream .
I found the difference between C# and Java Gzip compression while a compressing a file (temp.gif ) -
After Compression of temp.gif file in C# - compressed file size increased
while in java i found a 2% percentage of compression of data.
Could you please tell me , can i achieve same output in Java as compared to C# using GZIPOutputStream ?
    Thank a lot in advance.

Does java provides a better compression than C#?no idea, i don't do c# programming. and, your question is most likely really: "does java default to a higher compression level than c#".
Btw what is faster compression vs. better compression?meaning, does the code spend more time/effort trying to compress the data (slower but better compression) or less time/effort trying to compress the data (faster but worse compression). most compression algorithms allow you to control this tradeoff depending on whether you care more about cpu time or disk/memory space.

  • What is the diffrence between package javax.sql and java.sql

    Is javax designed for J2EE?
And when to use package javax?

    Hi,
What is the diffrence between package javax.sql and java.sql? The JDBC 2.0 & above API is comprised of two packages:
    1.The java.sql package and
    2.The javax.sql package.
java.sql provides features mostly related to client
side database functionalities where as the javax.sql
    package, which adds server-side capabilities.
You automatically get both packages when you download the JavaTM 2 Platform, Standard Edition, Version 1.4 (J2SETM) or the JavaTM 2, Platform Enterprise Edition, Version 1.3 (J2EETM).
For further information on this please visit our website at http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/guide/jdbc/index.html
    Hope this helps.
    Good Luck.

  • What is the diffrence between My Runnable Interface and Java Runnable

thnxClasses and interfaces are not identified by just their "name", like Runnable. The actual "name" the compiler uses is java.lang.Runnable. So even if you duplicate the Runnable interface in your own package, it's not the same as far as the compiler is concerned, because it's in a different package.
    Try importing both java.util.* and java.awt.* (which both have a class or interface named List), and then try to compile List myList = new ArrayList();

  • Java SE and Java EE

I am a IT graduate and I still need some clarification on the relationship between Java SE and Java EE API. Does EE include SE?
For application development, I know I can use only SE without the EE, but can I use EE alone without SE?
Any good articles addressing my questions?
    Thank you very much
    R

Java EE in fact extends java SE, its primarily aim is to simplify developing multitier enterprise applications (Java SE provides all the necessary basic libraries etc.)
Because Java EE is an extension of Java SE, you cant use EE without SE - without SE there is no EE.

  • SSO between Portal and Java WD application

    Hi Experts,
I am using CE 7.2 on localhost and I am very new to SAP.
I need to know how can I get SSO between Portal and Java WD.  I have a WD application that displays the logged in user using "IUser currentUser = WDClientUser.getCurrentUser().getSAPUser()", as well I can use "IUser user = UMFactory.getAuthenticator().getLoggedInUser()".  Both work.
Q1. What is the difference in the 2 above?
Q2. My WD application is set to authenticate user.  The WD application is in URL iView.  I need SSO between Portal and WD application.   Is there a way to get this SSO without SAP Backend (ECC), for now I just need SSO between Portal and Java WD appl.
    Everything is in localhost.
    Please advice. Thanks.

Then I suggest you ask your question in the Web Dynpro Java forum instead of the Web Dynpro ABAP one.
