Sounded familiar on GW7 and I had this in my notes--worth a try:
Symptom: Open and existing Excel document with GW and Excel2003,
a blank screen is returned.
Fix:
Copy the files GWXLUS.XLA and GWXL97.XLA from C:\Novell\Groupwise
to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\XLSTART folder.
Restart GW and Excel.
Also,
Click Help/About Microsoft Excel and check the diabled items to make sure
GWXL97 is not disabled.

    THE APPLICATION IS NAMED "Master Control". When I open a document it shows blank and the name is always "version-#.pdf". No matter what the size of any file shows to be around 5kB. I am using Linux Ubuntu 10.04.

    A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
    If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.

    Murray is right. Padding (and margins) is added to the width. However, when using percentages, you should never use figures that add up to exactly 100%.
    Browsers need to convert the percentages to pixels. Because pixels must be whole numbers, some percentages are rounded up, which results in the final element dropping down below its neighbours. With percentages, it's much safer to use values that add up to 98% (99% often works, but 98% is safer).

    There are cells in the excel document that have formula's in them.  The formulas are pulling data from other blank cells, so that is why they are blank in the formulated cells.  So in Excel, they are just a dash.  When I create the PDF, the document gets opened in Acrobat and the once blank cells have data in them.  Not sure why there is data in those fields on the PDF if its blank on Excel.

    Not really sure that I fixed the problem, but I did find a work around and wanted to post it if someone else runs across the same issue. Apparently the document creator used lots of custom rules and shading. If I pulled up the custom rules and shading palette and just unchecked both the custom ruling and shading boxes, it allowed me to create the print file correctly--the disappearing part numbers were on the new PDF. I didn't have to update the whole book which I didn't want to do because I feared it would mess up the rules and shading. Just unchecking the box before creating the PDF solved that issue for my purposes.

    We are uisng BOXI 3.1. When user login to infoview and see the report instance (Crystal report) for first time it shows blank and it opens in the same infoview page. Once they log off and logback in then they open report instance they are able to see the data.
    We are using excel 2003. Is this bug or something we need to configure on server side.

    I observed one more thing.
    it is opening Excel within a Frame in their Infoview Browser.
    We are using IE 7 and excel 2003.
    On some workstation its opening in new windows it looks like its working fine there. So if its opening in same infoview browser it giving trouble.
    Is there any setting i need to do on client machin to open in new window.

    Try and make a copy to see if you get a blank page.
    Were you trying to scan from the ADF or the glass?
    Make sure there isn't a paper on the ADF and the glass at the same time.
    Try scanning from the other one to see if you have the same results.
    I would do a hard reset if you are still having issues.
    Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
    Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
    This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
    The scanner mechanism bulb might not turn on when trying to scan, copy, or fax.
    There are two main causes for this issue:
    It could be the scanner bulb temperature is too low or there is an internal or external electrical malfunction.
    Please keep the scanner lid open and then press the copy button.
    Check if the scanner bulb glows.
    Also to see if the scanner moves freely across the glass.

  • Finder not showing icon thumbnail for some excel documents

    I have two MS Excel documents that are, except for the data contained within, virtually identical. One was created as an offshoot of the other.
    In the Finder, the original displays a thumbnail for the icon, but the offshoot copy displays the standard Excel icon with the (XLSX) "button" in the lower left corner.
    I've tried doing a "Save As" and giving the file a different name. That didn't work.
    I've checked Get Info on both, and the only anomaly I see is that the offshoot is a larger file, despite containing fewer tabs and less data. (Curiouser and curiouser.)
    Would appreciate any ideas, as I'm stumped.
    (Off-topic: Strange, isn't it, that the form on discussions.apple.com for submitting questions doesn't allow Safari to do it's on as-you-type spellcheck? Instead you have to click a spellcheck button on the form itself! ***, Apple?)

    Try deleting the Finder .plist file.
    Go to ~/Library/Preferences. Move the com.apple.finder.plist file to the Trash. Restart your Mac.

    i tried to open an excel document downloaded from my email, the document opened just fine but none of the images were there.  is there an add on that i need to intall or perhaps a better version of quickoffice or excel?

  • Why does a document filtered by attribute show blank pages?

    Unless someone can offer an explanation or a fix, this seems like another reason not to use filtering by attribute.
    I have an 8 page document, which when filtered by attribute has content on only two pages. I have set the document to have an even number of pages. When I save the filtered document, the blank pages are not deleted, as they are with conditional text. If I delete the blank pages, save the file, and open it again, the six blank pages reappear. Even if I do not reopen the file, but print it from a book, the blank pages are reinserted.
    So, what is the good of filtering by attribute if one is left with many blank pages?
    Am I doing something wrong? Or need to set some flag somewhere?

    Even more information...
    If the filters are applied to each document in a book and saved, when I open the files from the book, the blank pages display. When I update the book, the extra blank pages disappear, as I think they should. I can then create a PDF of the book and the extra blank pages are not there. Saving and closing the documents and then printing the book causes the extra blank pages to appear in the print/PDF.
    In other words, updating the book causes the extra blank pages to disappear but only if the documents are open. This appears to one of those all-documents-in-the-book-need-to-be-open-to-work operation, which I thought we got rid of several versions ago.
    I hope someone from Adobe is reading this and can explain what I need to do to make this work as desired and whether this is indeed a bug.

  • Import Word/Excel document option greyed out

    For a class assignment I am instructed to import a Word document using Import -> Word Document.  The problem is that the option to import Word & Excel documents is greyed out.  Yes, I have the destination file open when I try to import the document.  This does not change even if I create a new, blank HTML file and try to import the document into that file.
    My system:
    Dreamweaver CS5
    Microsoft Office 10
    Windows 7
    64-bit processor
    Could this be an incompatability with 64-bit system?  That's the only thing that's out of the norm on my computer.  Is there something that I can change to make this option work on my system?

    I have just created a test document in Word 2010, and saved it on my desktop. I then opened Dreamweaver CS5, made sure the focus was in Design view, and then selected File > Import > Word Document. The file was correctly imported.
    As I said before, it's important for the focus to be in Design view. The following screenshot shows an attempt to access Import > Word Document when the focus is out of Design view. The option is greyed out.
    I then clicked inside Design view to ensure the focus was in the correct place. As the following screenshot shows, the options for Word and Excel are no longer greyed out.
    Importing Word documents in Dreamweaver CS5 on Windows 7 64-bit definitely works with Word 2010. If it's not working on your system, there's a problem with your installation. It's not a bug in Dreamweaver or lack of support for Office 2010.

    sites in IE. I reset the browser and deleted history with all options selected.

    The file will open in Chrome but I am wondering if that's because Chrome downloads the file as if I choose to save the file opens fine. I am going to run the OffCAT will post my findings.

    I am trying to get an excel document I exported from Wufoo into numbers on my mac. It works but I cannot read the data.

    I got it to work!! Just had to select Commas (.csv) instead of excel for the export. What happened before was that I chose .xls to export the data and when I tried to open the file in Numbers, it showed an error.
    Import Warning - This is a tab delimited document, not a valid Excel document. The data might look different.
    the data was all symbols etc..

    That extension identifies the most current Excel file format, a format that can be opened by Numbers '09 (and by Numbers '08).
    A check with Numbers '09 shows it capable of opening .xlsx files when right-clicked (and Numbers chose as the application to open, when double-clicked (if Numbers has been set as the default application to open this type of file, or when dragged to the Numbers icon in the dock.
    I see two possibilities for Numbers inability to open it and the message you receive:
    1. The file is not actually an Excel file, and the sender has added the .xlsx extension to the filename manually.
    2. The file is an Excel file, but has somehow been corrupted.
    Have you tried opening the file with a different application? The open source Office suites, OpenOffice.org, LibreOffice and NeoOffice can also open .xlsx files. If they're unable to open this one, that would point toward the file itself being faulty. You can download these applications from their rspective websites, linked in the names above. All request a donation to support future development, but only Neo requires one to have been made recently, and that only for the current release (which won't be necessary to open .xlsx files).

    Within Excel, we've set Application.ScreenUpdating = False, which hides the document from the user. When launching the document directly from the local drive (not from SAP), it doesn't get displayed.
    However, calling it from SAP seems to bring up Excel, and it shows the processing of the macro as well as the automatic printing and only then will Excel close.
    My question is, is there anyway we'd be able to run the Excel macro and print the spreadsheet without Excel ever opening at all?
