Excel-layout to Smartforms

Dear development team,
I have a requirement to the smartforms with a lot of information (such as article data, info record data, vendor, etc.). For this there is a template in Excel format.
To reduce the effort to design the smartforms Iu2019m looking for an approach to import the excel layout to the smartformsu2019 table structure.
Is there any possibility to import the excel-format (the format is fully reassessed) to the smartforms?

Is there setting that i am supposed. I did not try this on a custom report but i used SE16 to display data.

Try this. A simple sample Smart Form.
SAP Smartforms can be used for creating and maintaining forms for mass printing in SAP Systems. The output medium for Smartforms support printer, fax, e-mail, or the Internet (by using the generated XML output).
According to SAP, you need neither have any programming knowledge nor use a Script language to adapt standard forms. However, basic ABAP programming skills are required only in special cases (for example, to call a function module you created or for complex and extensive conditions).
1. Create a new smartforms
Transaction code SMARTFORMS
Create new smartforms call ZSMART
2. Define looping process for internal table
Pages and windows
First Page -> Header Window (Cursor at First Page then click Edit -> Node -> Create)
Here, you can specify your title and page numbering
&SFSY-PAGE& (Page 1) of &SFSY-FORMPAGES(Z4.0)& (Total Page)
Main windows -> TABLE -> DATA
In the Loop section, tick Internal table and fill in

SMARTFORMS GENERATION: (calling internal table fields)
 Open a smartform using the tcode smartforms.
 Usually form attributes shows admn data.
 In the form interface declare import/export parameters if any. Else declare the tables in tables tab button.
 In the windows and pages expand and create a table. It automatically generates header, main area and footer for the table.
 In data tab button in the table we usually declare a work area to bring the data from se38. Like: ktab into wa. ( The purpose of declaring the wa is , to get the data of the ktab in to header from the body area of the internal table).
 And in the tablepainter pushbutton in table we can have any no of line types. Depending on the requirement. ( for ex: If we want to devide a row in to 4 columns, we can devide it as 4,4,4,4cm as line type 1, And usually for the footer we dont need no of columns, So, we declare it as one column with 16cm measure with the name line type 2.). We can use these line types in the tables.
 In the header right click>>create>>tableline. It asks for line type. Select one line type which is appropriate.
 Like same create a row2 in main area using right click. If we select the line type 1, it automatically generates 4 cells. We can create text in each cell as per requirement.
 We can generate general attributes using general attributes tab button in the text. Or in the other way. We can switch on the field list on/off button from the application tool bar. It displays all the attributes in the left down corner of the screen. We can drag and drop the required fields in the general attributes tab button of the text.
 We continue the same procedure for all the texts. The texts should be displayed in the gray color. Then only it can collects the data from the abap editor fields.
 If it wont turns gray, we can check the fields in the editor by changing it to the line editor. The best thing is to drag the fields from the list, rather than declaring like &wa-matnr&
 In the footer also we create a line type and in that table line we create text.

In the method I we are calling the amartform dynamically using the function module 'SSF_FUNCTION_MODULE_NAME'.
Here we are exporting form name and importing fm_name.
So we need to declare the variable fm_name as

We can have the type of the fm_name in the function module 'SSF_FUNCTION_MODULE_NAME' (in the export tab button).
Since we are passin the name of the Function module generated by the smart form in to the fm_name variable. We run the function module with the name fm_name, but not the FM generated by the smartform(like /1BCDWB/SF00000199)¬¬¬¬¬¬.
In the method II we directly call the smartform generated function module (i.e, /1BCDWB/SF00000199).
But the method I is recommended. In the method I, The fm_name is a variable we dont put it in the quotes while calling.
In the both methods we declare the internal table using the like option, but not begin of. end of. And in select statement we select *, But not individual fields.

Cost center planning with excel layout on office 2010

Hi all,
I work with excel intergration on transaction KP06 (Release office 2010). I want to save the excel layout as a template for a later upload. In office 2003 I had in the SAP integrated excel menu a function "copy save as".
In Office 2010 I don't find this or a similar function.
Can anyone help me.

Validate mandatory field in BPS Excel layout

Hi Sdner
In my BPS Excel layout i want to have some characteristic as mandatory.If i don't put any value for them system will put a # by default which i don't want. system should prompt a error message that particular field is mandatory and enter some value. I can check this thru planning function(FOX) but the problem is all characteristics in that row will greyed out after function execution and hence can't be changed by user.
Does somebdy know if there is any workaround to solve this ?

Hi Tarun
Use XL macros to validate data in a column.
When macro executes it first unprotect the worksheet,then we have our custom code for validation and error message, after that it is followed by a protect sheet command.
My Prob is that if error is there in any field raised by macro, user should be able to edit those fields but as we are protecting our worksheet in macro, editing is not possible.
I can't unprotect the worksheet because then user can change anything.
+Use a read function module on planning layout. While you are in layout change mode use lbexit_fm as a transaction code. You can read data from planning layout and write validation code and error message in ABAP function module.+_
I used this Tcode and FM, but they are ment to read Non SAP area of Excel sheet. The actual layout(Data Record)(SAP Area) which we want to read is not coming in internal table while executing FM.
On Execution it is saying that reading and writing on SAP protected data is not allowed.
If you have done any of these workaround then can you please put some more lights on this ?

Dynamic table layout in Smartform

Hi,
Is there a way to have a dynamic table layout in smartform?
The idea is to be able to print any kind of table with fieldsymbols without having to define the table layout/cell layout at design time, or if it's not possible choose one of the predefined line types at runtime. Please don't post how to print out a table using fieldsymbols, this is not the topic of this question.
So I guess you'd need to choose the table line type at runtime or even better, create a table line type at runtime. Is this even possible?

Row text Visible in Excel layout but missing in Web layout

Hi,
My row text is visible in Excel layout but it is missing in web layout. Only the first row is missing text while the other rows are showing
The planning layout that I am using is also used in another web layout but I don't have same issue.
I have tried to the following.
- Retransport the layout
- delete the row and recreate it
but the issue is still the same.

Hello Arunas,
you can make your changes on the third screen of the layout builder; if you save the planning layout these changes will be saved in the Excel template of the planning layout.
Usually (dependind on the changes) it may be more convenient to download a copy of the master template and implement your changes there. Then you can checking the Excel file as an Excel template for the planning layout, e.g. with report UPP_LAYOUT_CHECKIN, cf. note 428092.
Be careful with data in the Excel template: In the 'SAP area' the Excel templates contains no data (the dummy data
you see in the third screen of the layout builder will be cleared when you save the layout). Data in the SAP area will be overwritten at run time with transaction data, but the size of the SAP area (e.g. the number of used rows) of course depends on the transaction data.

Deleting lines in SEM-BPS Excel Layout

Within our BPS excel layout, if a user selects a line and deletes it, it only deletes the planned values in the key figures. It doesn't completely remove the line from the layout unless the user restarts the layout. We've tried checking and resumming, but these do not remove the line. Is there a way to delete a line and have it completely disappear without having to restart the layout?

I can delete the entire line provided I've not executed any planning funciton / saved into cube. (at this point, characteristics are not protected)
If I do execute any planning funciton / saved into planning cube, at this point I doubt if one should be able to delete the entire line (both characteristics & key figures) (at this point, characteristics are protected & doesn't allow to delete the same manually)
at this point, to delete the line including protected characteristics, we will have to use delete funciton.

Error in web interface excel Layout

Hi ,
I have an excel layout in the web interface, which is designed to enter plan data manually. It is working fine when we enter some data and save. But it is giving following error when clicked on'Refresh' button of web interface .However it is working fine with other ALV layouts in the same interface.This is the FM : API_SEMBPS_REFRESH calling from the 'refresh' button.

Column Heading in Excel layout coming to Second Line

Hi All,
I am doing an excel Layout using Report Builder 6i. There in excel layout output,
the cloumn headings are coming in two lines. I mean headings for few last columns are getting wrapped to second line, though corresponding data is coming
correctly.
Please help me over this if anyone had faced the same problem...

You need to make sure that your column headings in Reports have no 'returns' in them. The text should be all on one line and the text in the layout editor should be no 'taller' than 1 line. Your frame around the column headings should also be no 'taller' than 1 line.

The unassigned symbol # appears in web excel layouts in one specific cell

Hello all,
I've got a problem with some web excel layouts where when I open them the symbol # appears in cell F11.
It does not happen to all the layouts we have created, just to some of them.
The fact that this symbol comes up means that in order to perform their work the users have first to delete it from the excel, then once they have saved their data the symbol comes back up. It's like as if the symbol was saved in the master excel template. The thing is that it only shows on the web. If I launch the very same layout from BPS0 nothing comes up and everything works perfectly.
Has anybody come across anything like this? How can I get rid of it?

Hi,
One possible reason is '#' would be part of master data for characteristics that drive the layout and some transaction data exists.Else whenever you leave the selection for characterictic open in the level this would occr in the layout.

How to change font size in smartform and set layout of smartform

I want to change font size in smartform and also set the layout of smart form how can we do this.

Hi,
you can do it first you need to goto smartforms tcode there click on radiobutton 'Style'.
Give any name and click on create. Right sideyou can find character format right click on it and create a node .A pop will raise gve a 2 characterlike z1 or a1 etc click on font tab gve size and font style and click on save and activate. Use this style in your smartform you can apply what ever styles created in styles you can use it in your smartform by that smartstyle name.
When we create text in output options give your smart style name and click on general attributes . Select your text and apply the style what thse size it should be and what the font style it should be.
Goto smartforms tcode and select formpainter in application bar set layout according to your requirement.

dear all,
I have made 2 smartforms for checmical and mechanical print.one has to be printed in landscape and the other has to be printed in potrait format.The problem is the user wants the smartforms to be called from the same program and hence everytime he has to set the printer settings.
for exapmle
mechanical smartform is in landscape format and if the printer settings is not changed to landscape then the smartform wont get printed in landscape format, its getting printed in potrait format only and half of the data is cut off.
Please tell whether any option is there so that I can change the printer setting from landscape to potrait in the runtime only based on the layout of the smartform.

To my knowledge at runtime we cannot change printer settings.U have to desgin 2 form for each and set printer settings accordingly.
