  • BEx Analyzer Design 7.0 toolbar visible in Excel 2010, but not working

I use Microsoft excel 2010 in my PC. I installed patch for BI710 below. However I can not use any BI7.0 toolbar after installation.

    BI3.5 toolbar is working fine.
Does anybody know how to fix this issue?
    Many thank!
    rajatina.

    Hi Rajatina,
We move from 3.5 to 7 sometimes back. We encounter similar issue where we have 3.5 and 710 in the same mechine. What we did, we uninstall both, and only install 710. and it works fine.
But for few cases, i did see user who has 3.5 and 710 can still use the BEx analyzer. So, i guess some installation sequence on something needs to be observed. But for our case, since we move to 710, we remove the 3.5.
    Hope this helps.

  • "Numbers stored as text" error in Excel when I schedule a report

    Dear all,
When I schedule a report, I got a "Numbers stored as text" error in Excel.
But when I save as xls directly from webI, I have no error in the excel sheet.
So, is it a bug ? I have the BO XI 4.0 version.
Or is there a special option to set concerning schedule ?
    Mike.

    Hi,
First check the object data type in webi. Normally this error will come when  object/variable data type is Text in the report.
If you are getting this error with object data type number then  add 0 in the object and see.
    Like  =[Object] + 0
It will force the value to be converted in the number.

  • Repeating row texts when exporting web report to Excel

    Dear all,
When exporting a web report (including a structure/hierarchy) to Excel (via the 'export to excel button), the row texts (e.g. balance sheet texts) appear twice (column A and B)in the Excel result.
When using the web context menu 'Export to Excel' this issue does not occur.
I am using a BW 3.5 system which has been upgraded to support pack 16.
I assume it is the combination of the structure and the 'export to excel' functionality that does not match up, because when I switch off the hierarchy functionality in the web report query properties, the export to excel does not give me any problems.
Does anyone know how to solve this issue?
    Thanks in advance,
    Arjan.

Did you write that software, COTS package called Medgate?
If not then ask that company for support. No one here would know how to fix it. They are using the CR RDC report engine.
    Thank you

    Sirrick,
If I understand your question correctly, you want to programmatically set how many array elements (clusters) to show. You can do this with the Array properties: Number of Rows and Number of Columns. Please see the attached VI.

  • Validate mandatory field in BPS Excel layout

    Hi Sdner
In my BPS Excel layout i want to have some characteristic as mandatory. If i don't put any value for them system will put a # by default which i don't want. system should prompt a error message that particular field is mandatory and enter some value. I can check this thru planning function(FOX) but the problem is all characteristics in that row will greyed out after function execution and hence can't be changed by user.
Does somebdy know if there is any workaround to solve this ?
    Thanks
    Tripple k

    Hi Tarun
Use XL macros to validate data in a column.
When macro executes it first unprotect the worksheet, then we have our custom code for validation and error message, after that it is followed by a  protect sheet command.
My Prob is that if error is there in any field raised by macro, user should be able to edit those fields but as we are protecting our worksheet in macro, editing is not possible.
I can't unprotect the worksheet because then user can change anything.
+Use a read function module on planning layout. While you are in layout change mode use lbexit_fm as a transaction code. You can read data from planning layout and write validation code and error message in ABAP function module.+_
I  used this Tcode and FM, but they are ment to read Non SAP area of Excel sheet. The actual layout(Data Record)(SAP Area) which we want to read is not coming in internal table while executing FM.
On Execution it is saying that reading and writing on SAP protected data is not allowed.
If you have done any of these workaround then can you please put some more lights on this ?
    Thanks

  • Hidden report items with toggle are visible in Excel when a report is exported to Excel.

    Hi
I have  4 Bar charts and 4 text boxes in one report in SSRS Report . These charts  are hidden based on parameters. I have one visible chart and one text box when report is rendered .
When report is exported to excel  4 charts  are visible. Each Bar chart has one textbox in toggle box.  If I set toggle to None  all hidden charts  will be invisible in excel file.
    I used   iif(Globals!RenderFormat.Name=" EXCEL",False,True)
but it does not work when the chart is toggled by a text box.<v:shape alt="" id="Picture_x0020_1" o:spid="_x0000_i1025" style="width:6in;height:396pt;"
    type="#_x0000_t75"></v:shape>

    Hi Katherine
Thank you for your quick response.
I am working with three versions .(SQL SERVER 2008, 2008 R2 and  2012)
I designed all reports  in SQL Server 2008 and  uploaded them in other versions.
For example, I have a chart that it is invisible when the report is initially run.
I want to hide this chart in excel when I export  it to Excel format.
In SQL Server 2008: If  the toggleitem of a chart sets to a text box  the chart is visible in excel when it is a hidden item  in the report .
I checked in PDF and word format  it is fine and  hidden items  are not displayed.
There is  this scenario  for SQL Server 2008 R2  and  SQL Server 2012. I tested  Globals! RenderFormat  in two versions but it  does not
work. The main  issue is  toggleitem. If I remove toggleitem  from  hidden items  they are invisible in three versions when they are exported to Excel. I  am not sure if I design report in Sql Server 2008 R2  I can hide some
report items with toggle in Excel format or Not?
    Thanks

  • Modeling BPS excel layout

    Hello,
Could anybody explain me, how can i insert into BPS excel layout excel and Visual Basic functionality (buttons, graphics, formulas)?
All my worksheet's rows are locked.
Could you send me docs about SEM BPS modeling?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Arunas Stonys

    Hello Arunas,
you can make your changes on the third screen of the layout builder; if you save the planning layout these changes will be saved in the Excel template of the planning layout.
Usually (dependind on the changes) it may be more convenient to download a copy of the master template and implement your changes there. Then you can checking the Excel file as an Excel template for the planning layout, e.g. with report UPP_LAYOUT_CHECKIN, cf. note 428092.
Be careful with data in the Excel template: In the 'SAP area' the Excel templates contains no data (the dummy data
you see in the third screen of the layout builder will be cleared when you save the layout). Data in the SAP area will be overwritten at run time with transaction data, but the size of the SAP area (e.g. the number of used rows) of course depends on the transaction data.

  • Adding rows to an existing Excel File.

    Hey,
I need to be able to add rows to an existing Excel File. I just wanted to know what are my options here.. any sample VIs already existing?
    any help is appreciated.
    Regars,
    Pete

Yes, the Report Generation Toolkit works very well for this (active x underlies).  You can use the Write to Spreadsheet File.VI to append data to an Excel file.  But keep in mind this file is text-based and not a true Excel file.  That doesn't mean much unless you want manipulate the file with Active X, in which case you will have problems (such as col width, for instance).  If you have Report Generation Toolkit, use it.  It's very easy and flexible.

  • Copy a table in Safari and paste special, as text, to an Excel worksheet

I am attempting to write Applescript code to copy a table in Safari and paste special, as text, to an Excel worksheet.
When I perform the operation manually, all the rows of the Safari table are pasted into Excel in a single column, i.e. after all of the data in a row of a table is pasted vertically into Excel, the next row is pasted in the next open cell below in the same column, as I need it.
When I use the applescript line..."paste special on worksheet format text" Excel pastes the table data in rows AND columns , like the table looks in Safari, but I do not want it pasted this way.
Any ideas on how to get my Applescript code to perform the same manual operation?
    Thanks!

I do not know what Excel you have, but to copy a table from a Safari's page, you could use the table tags of the page's source to get the table you want.
That is, use text item delimiters.

  • Tabular model. Define column description to be visible in Excel

    Hello,
I edit a Tabular Model in SQL Server Data Tools.
Then I connect to it through Excel, where I see the names of the tables, column and measures.
I would like to see descriptive names of the entities in Excel. There is "Description" field in a model, but Excel still displays the real names of the columns.
I can only do that by setting description in the field parameters in Excel for each pivot table(there are many)
Can I implement such functionality using SQL Server Data Tools fro VS2013 and Excel ?

    Hi Ruslan,
According to your description, you created a SQL Server Analysis Services Tabular model project, now you need to define column description to be visible in Excel, right?
In SSAS tabular, there is a measure property Description
that description of the measure. The description will not appear with the measure in a reporting client. Please refer to the link below to see the details.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh230824.aspx
For the tabular model table, the table description property is a text description for the table. In PowerPivot for Excel, if an end-user places the cursor over this table in the field list, the description appears as a tooltip.

  • Interactive Report - Include Non-selected Column in Row Text Search

    Hi,
We have an interactive report that contains many columns. NAME VARCHAR2(30), TYPE VARCHAR2(30) etc and DESCRIPTION VARCHAR2(4000).
Normally the DECRIPTION column would not be shown (avalilable for dispaly via 'Select Columns' but not selected), however we need the default Row Text Search (ie direct entry into the search field instead of creating a column filter) to search the DESCRIPTION field wether it is selected for display or not.
This will allow the user to enter a term that may be contained in the DESCRIPTION to find records without trying to display a 4000 character field in the report - which just looks horrible.
    We are using ApEx 4.1.1.
    Thanks,
    Martin Figg

    Hi Ray,
As I expected this has got us very close. We went with the code:
    select
    facility_id,
    facility_name,
    '<span title="' || facility_desc|| '">'||substr(facility_desc,0,50)||decode(sign(length( facility_desc)-50),1,' (More...)',NULL)||'</span>' facility_desc,
    equipment_id,
    equipment_name,
    '<span title="' || equipment_desc|| '">'||substr(equipment_desc,0,50)||decode(sign(length( equipment_desc)-50),1,' (More...)',NULL)||'</span>' equipment_desc,
    from
rf_full_item_list_vwhich works well. The only issue is that when you download to csv you get the html tags etc as well. Put I am a lot closer to a solution than we were.
    Thanks again.
