Shahab Ahmed Khan

Hello All,
I was able to upload files but when downloading file from DB how do I know I'm downloading a PDF file or Excel File. I like to know how to get the File Type when uploading to the server so that I can view file based on that information.
Ex: File Type and Name
Thanks

  • Best way to do an Excel data file load

    Hi
    I need to load Excel file’s data into an ORACLE table (on a frequent basis). While loading it, I need to validate each column's contents (using PL SQL code). Are there any packages/procs/APIs provided by ORACLE to do this kind of activity? What would be the best way to do an Excel file load within ORACLE ? FYI, I have Visual Basic code that reads data from Excel file and loads it into a temporary ORACLE table, then I validate data in this temporary table using a PL-SQL code in stored procedure. I am trying to avoid the "front end" process of this effort in VB and want to do the whole thing within ORACLE itself. Please let me know if you have any ideas.
    Your help is greatly appreciated!!
    Thanks in advance,
    Ram

    If you are running on Windows, you could try COM Automation which means moving your VB process into a stored procedure. I've never tried this myself, having been quite satisfied with Heterogeneous Connectivity.

  • Docs with prompts can schedule to WebI, not Excel, pdf or CSV

    I have built Custom Access levels but am having problems with scheduling.
    I believe I have given the correct rights in the CAL, but even the standard "Schedule" access level gives this error:
    Sorry, you do not have the right to 'Add objects to the folder' (ID: 1) for 'reportname' (ID: 86429). Please contact your administrator if you require this right.
    This happens for Excel, PDF and CSV formats. WebIntelligence is fine.
    I have checked half a dozen reports in different folders a number of times and results are the same.
    - Users with Schedule rights can refresh reports to webi format
    - Users with Schedule rights can refresh reports WITHOUT prompts to excel / pdf /csv
    - Users with Schedule rights can NOT refresh reports WITH prompts to excel / pdf /csv
    To get Excel, PDF and CSV files created, I have to give "Add objects to folder" access which allows users to save documents which is not wanted for this role.
    It is also not a right granted in the standard "Schedule" role.
    Have added user group with Full Control at root level over all applications and all other folder trees including Temporary Storage, no change.

  • Opening word, excel, pdf, jpeg files as attachments on iphones

    I've always been able to open word, excel, pdf & jpeg files as attachments on my iphone 5.  But recently, everytime I tried to open one of these, the file image turned up all grey, and in the case of jpeg files, it just kept on loading, loading & loading, but never finished loading ...  It seems like this happened after I updated to IOS 6.1.4 recently...  This is just a guess.  Could anyone help me with this?  Thank you.

    Srinivas,
    Thank you for your reply. It helped me get to a solution. In essence I needed to copy the Unix file to an internal table and then save it to the end user's PC file. Then I am able to open the document / attachment.
    I created a new function to:
    1) call method cl_gui_frontend_services=>directory_browse,  to ask the end user to pick a PC directory to copy the Unix file attachment to.
    2) Then  using the following code, copy the Unix file (as determined by application or user) to an internal table. Note that the line is not limited by a certain length.
      types: begin of t_tab,
              line type string,
             end of t_tab.
      data: k_wa_itab type t_tab,
            t_it_itab type standard table of t_tab.
    open dataset v_unixfilename for input in binary mode.
      if sy-subrc <> 0.
        raise unix_filename_read_error.
      endif.
      do.
        read dataset v_unixfilename into k_wa_itab-line.
        if sy-subrc <> 0.
          exit.
        endif.
        append k_wa_itab to t_it_itab.
      enddo.
      close dataset v_unixfilename.
    3) Using call method cl_gui_frontend_services=>gui_download, save the contents of the internal table to the PC directory from step 1 above.
    4) Open the Attachment from the end users PC via:
    call method cl_gui_frontend_services=>execute
    It seems like a long way to get this to work, but it is working. If there is a better way maybe someone else can fill in the blanks. Ideally a tool to read and open from a file from Unix without using the cl_gui_frontend_services would be ideal.

  • A working method to load local PDF and HTML files on iOS

    I had a lot of trouble getting this to work, and I'm hoping this post saves someone time. Some of the information that's been posted in other locations is either wrong, incomplete, or might only work on Android. By the time you read this message the information here may no longer be accurate, so here's the testing environment:
    Window 7
    Flash CS 5.5.0
    AIR 2.7.0.19530, which was compiled on June 28, 2011
    iPad 1, version 4.3.5 of iOS
    Let's get started.
    On iOS, you load external PDF and HTML files using the StageWebView class.
    On Windows, StageWebView works but the HTMLLoader class is a better choice if you're creating a desktop app.
    You can also load HTML files by reading in the file's text. The information in this post is only for loading external HTML files.
    StageWebView will not load a file that's in File.applicationDirectory. All files bundled in your app are placed in File.applicationDirectory, which means you'll have to copy any external file you wish to load with StageWebView to another directory.
    So where can you copy your file? File.applicationStorageDirectory won't work. File.documentsDirectory does work.
    Several people have recommended copying to a temporary file using File.createTempFile(). This works, but there's a catch: it seems that, like Windows, StageWebView relies on a file's extension when determining how to load it. When you create a temporary file on iOS using File.createTempFile(), the file will have no extension (and on Windows, File.createTempFile() creates a file with the extension .tmp, which is equally problematic).
    The solution to the file extension problem is to rename the temporary file by appending the original file's extension. AIR currently does not have a <file>.rename() function, so you'll have to do it using <tempFile>.moveTo().
    Here's some code I've successfully tested several times on both iOS and Windows. The file is copied to the temp directory. The file's extension is restored by just slapping the original file name to the end of the temp file.
            private function loadExternalFile():void
                var webView = new StageWebView();
                webView.stage = this.stage;
                webView.viewPort = new Rectangle( 0, 0, 1024, 555 );
                // Works with either html or pdf files.
                // These are stored in the root of the application directory.
                var fileName:String = "euei.pdf";
                //var fileName:String = "euei.htm";
                var sourceFile = File.applicationDirectory.resolvePath( fileName );
                var workingFile = File.createTempFile();
                try
                    sourceFile.copyTo( workingFile, true );
                    // You have to rename the temp file
                    var renamedTempFile:File = workingFile.resolvePath(workingFile.nativePath + fileName);
                    workingFile.moveTo(renamedTempFile, true);
                    webView.loadURL( renamedTempFile.url );
                catch (err:Error) { }

    I tried this with Flash CS5.5 and AIR 4.0 SDK. Any pdf loaded simply fills the viewPort with black. Also tested with a png version of the pdf and that displayed just fine.
    What's the purpose of copying to a temp work file? I found that webView.loadURL( sourceFile.url ); gave me the exact same results.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

  • How can I open excel pdf files

    How can I open excel pdf files

    Hi mmart1957,
    Do you have Excel files, PDF files, or PDF files that have been converted to Excel? If you're working with PDF files, you'll need either Reader or Acrobat to open the files. If you have a converted Excel file, then you'll need Excel to open it.
    Best,

  • Saving a PDF or DOC file into Oracle 9i using Developer Forms 10g

    Hi guys,
    I want to save a pdf or doc file into oracle 9i. I am using Developer 10 g. Please help me;
    1. What datatype field should be in database table to store such file.
    2. Which code should I use in Forms 10g to display open file dialog, get the name and save that into database table.
    Thanks in advance

    WEBUTIL is a library used with forms to interact with the client. With Forms10G the library comes shipped with the developer suite, for forms 9i i'm not sure, check the forms-page at otn if there is any download available. For documentation about how to do a file-upload, simply search the forum, there are lots of examples.

    Hi Mubarak,
    Please firstly make sure you installed SharePoint Foundation 2010 with SP2 in a Windows Server 2012 R2. Since only SP2 slipstream installations are supported on Windows Server 2012 R2

  • Could not load file or assembly 'Oracle.DataAccess error on server

    I have been building a.NET application on my local Machine Windows 7 and have the 32-bit ODT installed on my machine which works nicely with VS 2010.

    I tried to attach the PDF into my Workflow.
    I can see the file is attached (attach.pdf), but it cannot be opened.
    The Adobe shows : 'A drawing error occured.' each time I open the attachment.
    I compare the original.pdf and the attach.pdf
    However, there is one specific difference
    - in original.pdf, the line started with '.' (single period)
    in attach.pdf, the line is started with '..' (two periods)
    Thus the attachment cannot be opened.
    After I delete the period, it can be opened.
    Question:
    - Has someone ever succeed in attaching the PDF created from Report?
    - Are the codes above is wrong?
    - Or perhaps the DBMS_LOB.LOADBLOBFROMFILE always double the single period on front of the line?
    - Is there any solution on this?
    Note:
    I have succeed in attaching PDF files unless the PDF created by the Report.
    Sorry for the long post.
    Please help. It is very urgent.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Many thanks,

    The code looks absolutely good. I have the same code working in my system. Only difference is I use TRUE and DBMS_LOB.Session for the BLOB I use to read from the BFILE.
    I can suggest one more way to handle to binary attachments if you are on Oracle 9i DB are later versions.
    procedure attach_document (p_document_id   in varchar2,
                               p_display_type  in varchar2,
                               p_document      in out nocopy clob,
                               p_document_type in out nocopy varchar2)
    is
      l_nid        number;
      l_directory  varchar2(100);
      l_filename   varchar2(100);
      l_content_type varchar2(100);
      l_src_offset binary_integer := 1;
      l_dst_offset binary_integer := 1;
      l_err_msg    varchar2(100);
      l_amount     number;
      l_bfile BFILE;
      l_blob  BLOB;
      l_clob  CLOB;
      file_not_found exception;
      pragma EXCEPTION_INIT(file_not_found, -22288);
    begin
      l_nid := to_number(p_document_id);
      l_directory := trim(wf_notification.GetAttrText(l_nid, 'ATTR_DIRECTORY'));
      l_filename := trim(wf_notification.GetAttrText(l_nid, 'ATTR_FILENAME'));
      l_content_type := trim(wf_notification.GetAttrText(l_nid, 'ATTR_CONTENT_TYPE'));
      l_bfile := BFILENAME(l_directory, l_filename);
      dbms_lob.createtemporary(l_blob, true, dbms_lob.Session);
      dbms_lob.createtemporary(l_clob, true, dbms_lob.Session);
      begin
        dbms_lob.FileOpen(l_bfile, dbms_lob.File_Readonly);
      exception
        when file_not_found then
          l_err_msg := to_char(sqlcode)||' - Attachment File "'||l_filename||'" is not found.';
          raise_application_error(-20002, l_err_msg);
      end;
      dbms_lob.LoadBLOBFromFile(l_blob, l_bfile, dbms_lob.LobMaxSize, l_src_offset, l_dst_offset);
      dbms_lob.FileClose(l_bfile);
      -- Encode the BLOB content to BASE64 and attach to notification
      wf_mail_util.EncodeBLOB(l_blob, l_clob);
      l_amount := dbms_lob.GetLength(l_clob);
      dbms_lob.Copy(p_document, l_clob, l_amount, 1, 1);
      -- Mention an appropriate Content Type so that Notification System
      -- understands the attachment content
      p_document_type := l_content_type||'; encoding=base64; name='||l_filename;
    end attach_document;Here I read the BLOB from the filesystem and base64 encode it before giving it to the Mailer. Please note that this is a PLSQLCLOB based attachment as against PLSQLBLOB that you are using.
    Thanks - Vijay

  • I need format for data in excel file load into info cube to planning area.

    Hi gurus,
    I need format for data in excel file load into info cube to planning area.
    can you send me what should i maintain header
    i have knowledge on like
    plant,location,customer,product,history qty,calander
    100,delhi,suresh,nokia,250,2011211
    if it is  right or wrong can u explain  and send me about excel file format.
    babu

    Hi Babu,
    The file format should be same as you want to upload. The sequence of File format should be same communication structure.
    Like,
    Initial columns with Characteristics (ex: plant,location,customer,product)
    date column (check for data format) (ex: calander)
    Last columsn with Key figures (history qty)
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Nawanit
