You could always drop a property node to get the values from the chart and then write to a csv file.  Or, you can also always right click on a chart in LabVIEW and choose to export to Excel.

Ok, first -- do you have excel installed? Sorry, had to ask.
It seems a little odd that you say the vi has a broken arrow and also gives
you an error message. Does that mean that the vi will try to run even
though it has a broken arrow but then it gives an error message, or do you
mean that even without running it it gives an error message?
I once had a vi with a broken arrow but no error in the error list window.
I clicked the box to show warnings and it turned out that it was a warning
    that caused the broken arrow.

  • Excel save

I have an application with a lot of excel functions going on using ActiveX. When I create a line to be added to the excel file it stays in memory but is not written immediately. When the LV app closes and uses close /save the file is written. I want to save each addition in the files in case the program crashes and does not exit gracefully. So that no data is lost.
Here is my function that adds each update to the excel file.
I thought the last activeX function would save the file each time I add something to the workbook.
It needs to update automatically without operator intervention.
Can someone tell me what I have wrong?
    Thanks

    Dear Judd,
You are using the correct function/method for save (Excel Workbook - Save).
    Probably you check,
    1. The sequence of the functions you are using
    2. Error conditions,
    3. Write Permission of the file
    4. Write Protection/Properties of the Excel Cells
    5. The Range you are using (Range of Cells)
Also I am suggesting to save the file before closing it (PFA).
Note that while debugging you can launch Excel Application with 'Visible' and put breakpoint before closing the excel file/or where you want.
So that you can cross-check that the write function is working properly.

  • Excel save as pdf hangs when launched through a watch folder

    Hi there,
I've configured a watch folder to launch a batch file which launch a .exe file I've written in C++
In this application I launch Excel which open a .XLS document which contains macros.
At the end of the computations there is a macro which save as pdf.
At this point everything hangs and I have to cancel the job I've created for the watch folder.
If I disable the watch folder and I place the starting file inside the watch folder
and I manually launch the .bat file (which usually is launched by the watch folder) everything works perfectly.
I really really hope there will be someone here coming with a solution for me.
By the way on the windows forum I've got a very disappointing answer where they stated it was probably a fault of my application.
Well fortunately that was not the problem because
I can reproduce the problem even removing my application from the equation so now we have cleared
the issue is not casued by my application.
So if you want to try it yourself just follow the steps below:
    1) create an excel document so that after you open it it automatically run a save as pdf operation and close excel. (let's call this document "PRINT_TEST.xls")
    2) create a batch file named "Excel_launcher.bat" and write the command
    ""C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15\EXCEL.EXE" "C:\teststampapdf\PRINT_TEST.xls""
    3) Now create a watch folder job that execute that batch file.
    something like "C:\watchfolderX\Excel_launcher.bat"
    4) now create a watch folder that uses that job and for file filter use "*.txt" enable it and start it
    5) now launch manually the batch file and you'll see that it print the pdf and closes itself
    6) drop a txt file inside the watch folder you've created and you'll see it hangs at the save as pdf operation.
This is something that have to be fixed and it's due to excel.
I can launch and save documents with all the application I want but excel so that's the problem.
Please take a look and keep me updated I badly need to find a solution for this issue.
    THANK YOU in advance,
    Davide

  • Excel Save As dialog not appearing for one user

    Hi,
My company uses a payroll application called Cintra.
It's possible to run a report in this application and
    export it to Excel.
When one of the users exports a report and clicks File > Save As > Browse nothing happens. All other users get the Save as dialog.
Is there any setting that may be preventing this? She does not appear to have this trouble when saving any other
    Excel
    files.
We all use Excel 2013 on Windows 7 in Citrix.
    Cheers

Here is an article for troubleshooting errors when save Excel files you can refer to
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/271513
Based on your description, it's most likely that a Third-party add-in causes this issue, you can try to start excel in safe mode to test it.  excel.exe /safe

  • Excel save as txt

    Experts,
I have a client who wants to save reports to Excel. This works from SBO, the report is auto opened by Excel. If they close this it is saved to TXT. They want this to save to Excel instead of TXT format without them having to 'save as'.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks,
    Marli

    Hi Marli,
Export to Excel function is always export file as text file. Only the macro in Autoopen.xls make it open and displayed in Excel worksheet. It has to be saved as Excel file before it closed.
    Thanks,
    Gordon

  • Can any version of Excel save to a CSV file that is either UTF-8 or UTF-16 encoded (unicode)?

Are there any versions of Excel (chinese, japanese, russian... 2003, 2007, 2010...) that can save CSV files in Unicode (either UTF-8 or UTF-16)?
If not, is the only solution to go with tab-delimited files (save as Unicode-text option)?

    Hi Mark,
I have the same problem. Trying to save my CSV file in UTF8 encoding. After several hours in searching and trying this also in my VSTO Add-In I got nothing. Saving file as Unicode option in Excel creates file as TAB separated. Because I'd like to save the
file in my Add-In application, the best to do is (for my problem) saving file as unicode tab delimited and then replacing all tabs with commas in the file automatically.
I don't think there is a direct way to save CSV as unicode in Excel. And I don't understand why.

  • Have lost Word and Excel save, save as, quit functions since downloading OS update

downloaded the most recent OS update today (2-2-12) and now I can't save any MS Word or Excel files. I also lose the ability to close these programs when I try to save, requiring a force quit of the program. Help!

Latest Security Update is causing headache for PPC programs in 10.6 Rosetta
    Restore
Backup files off the computer (not TimeMachine) and disconnect all drives.
If you have TimeMachine, or a option key bootable clone use that to erase and restore from.
If not, c boot off the 10.6 disk, use Disk Utility to >Repair Disk and Permissions,  (do not format or erase!!) and simply re--install 10.6 from the disk.
Note: This 10.6 reinstall does not touch your files and most programs (provided you don't erase), but backup your files regardless.
Note: If Disk Repair gives a error that is not repaired, then you have to consider erasing the drive (with Zeros) and try reinstalling 10.6 fresh or replacing the drive.
Reboot and log in, update to 10.6.8, it should not include the security update at this time (second pass it might show) because it was just released and they might need to pull it. (they need to pull it)
When you reboot, make sure to reinstall any programs that installed kext files into OS X, you'll know, they won't work.
If you get gray screen, hold the shift key while booting (Safe mode) and update your installed software so it's compatible with 10.6.8.
Note: If any of this is beyond your ability, no problem, I'm no brain surgeon neither, call in a professional before you lose your data.

  • Export to excel saves to .txt

    Hi All,
When an user export any file to excel it saves as .txt,
How can I solve that and what is the reason for it.
    thanks in advance.

While it would be possible to create a true Excel format document, the processing burden would be higher, it would require that Excel be on all machines (which is recommended now), and would be more likely to fail when upgrades are done to Excel.
The alternative is to use a text-based format that is recognized by Excel.  SAP opted to use a tab-delimited file.  Unlike a comma-separated value file, which has an extension of .csv, the common extension Excel wants to see for a tab-delimited file is .txt.  You may view this yourself by opening Excel, selecting "Save As..." and examining the various formats and extensions (I tested in Excel 2007).
So the best way to present this to a customer is to point out that Excel wants to see a .txt. extension for this Excel-supported format, and that SAP uses that to give the customer the ultimate flexibility with their spreadsheet software, including not having any at all.

  • Errors in MS Office Excel save function

When saving a file the save to function opens with a number of suggested locations. When one of those clicks the save box opens, however it doesn't open to the chosen location it opens to the last used location.
When the file is saved the save box reopens (in the location the file was saved to) requiring you to close it down (or save again, then getting a question as to whether you want to overwrite the file you've just saved!)
Sort it out Microsoft, I don't pay LOTS of money to get such a shoddy product and sort out the customer support function, I should get automatic error reporting options if I pay for a professional licence.
    Running:
    Window 8
    Microsoft Office Professional 2013

    Hi,
Are we talking about the "Save" or "Save As" function?
I wonder if it's caused by an add-in, you can verify by running Excel in Safe Mode to open and save the file:
Press Win + R and type “excel /safe” in the blank box, then press Enter.
If there’s no problem in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.
If this doesn't fix the problem, is there any error message?
You can also provide some images to OneDrive and share with me so that I can have a better understanding on the issue:

  • Excel - save clipboard image to jpg?

I've got an several Excel reports which are generated on a monthly basis and I need to export a selected range as an image. I've managed to get as far as selecting the range and copying it to the clipboard, and pasting it into another application would work
but is it possible to save the image directly from the clipboard as a jpg file?
I've used the following code to do it looking at this link on poshcode:
    http://poshcode.org/5184
    $excel = New-Object -COM "Excel.Application" # Create new COM object
    $excel.displayalerts = $false
    $excel.visible = $true
    $excel.usercontrol = $false # Disable user interaction with Excel
$Workbook=$excel.Workbooks.open($testfile) # Open XLS file in Excel
    $Worksheet=$Workbook.Worksheets.Item(1)
    $Worksheet.Activate() | Out-Null
    add-type -an system.windows.forms
    $rows = ($Worksheet.UsedRange.Rows.Count) # Get total used row count
    $xRow = 1
    $yRow = $rows
    $rng = $Worksheet.range("b${xRow}:j${yRow}")
    $pic = $rng.CopyPicture(2,1)
    $e=[System.Windows.Forms.Clipboard]::GetDataObject()
    $img = $e.GetImage()
    $img.save($savefile)
It all runs and copies the selection to clipboard (pastes as image if you CTRL+V) but produces an error still on the last two lines. Cannot call a method on a null-valued expression.
    Thanks in advance.

What about pasting it into Powerpoint and do SaveAs jpg?
    Here is some vba code
    ' Initialize PowerPoint Object Library
    Set PPApp = GetObject(, "Powerpoint.Application")
    ' Reference active presentation
    Set PPPres = PPApp.ActivePresentation
    PPPres.Slides(1).Shapes.Paste

  • Why does Excel save with a number added and to the desktop

I have just updated to Maverick and I love it. However, when I amend a spreadsheet in Excel 2008 and save the file it adds a number to the file name and saves it to the desktop instead ofits original location. I find this extremely irritating. Can someone help?

    MartinR
I am doing Save exactly as I used to do with Mountain Lion. I have been experimenting and have found a strange effect which is entirely down to Maverick. If I open the Excel file from the Dock and amend it will save it to the Desktop with a number added to the file name. However, If I open the file from its original location and amensd the file it will save it to its original location without changing the file name. I then dragged the original of the file on to the desktop, amended it and closed it and it saved it to the desktop without altering the file name. This is somthing that Apple needs to look into and not Microsoft.
This means that I will have to drag all Excel files that I regularly use on to the desktop and not into the Dock. I have one large and complex Excel file with 60 sheets and regularly save as I work on it. Puting it into the Dock would create a nightmare.
    Thanks for your help.

  • PDF to Excel - Save As File Type - No Options

When I am attempting to save my converted file, I do not get any options to save it as a file type...literally "Save As Type" is blank and there are no options to choose anything.
So if I save it without that to my desktop, it then won't open to anything usable. Please advise.

    Hi there,
Basically what's happening is that your browser is not recognizing the mime-type of the file.  You'll need to manually append the .xlsx (or .docx for Word) extension to your file while saving it.

  • CFCONTENT Excel---Save Formulas

    I am using <cfcontent type="application/vnd.ms-excel"> tag.
It works well as it output the values to an excel spreadsheet.
My question is instead of outputting just the values can I output the values with the formulas that were used to calculate the values.
I need my users to be able to modify values in the spreadsheet and have it calcualte without them having to add the formulas themselves.

    I am using <cfcontent type="application/vnd.ms-excel"> tag.
It works well as it output the values to an excel spreadsheet.
All CFCONTENT does is to set the MIME type of the HTTP resonse which gets sent back tot he browser.  It doesn't in any way make the text that you stream down to the browser into an XLS file: it's still just text.  All it means is the browser - if configured to understand what "application/vnd.ms-excel" means - might suggest to the user that the returned data could be opened by Excel, rather than rendering it in the browser window.  And if Excel can interpret the returned text in a way that it can convert it to its own format... it will.
However instead of horsing around with CFCONTENT and sending text to Excel... can't you use CFSPREADSHEET to create an actual XLS file?
