Excel spreadsheet formatting

I'm looking at an indesign document with a fully formatted table that has come from excel.  All cell styles and colours are correct and each cell is editable.  I did this 2 years probably in ID CS4 (or2).  I'm now in CS5.
I go to place - choose the xls doc, choose "show import options" choose the sheet and import as formatted table, and I get a table view but no cell styles - borders, colours ets.
SO thats a bust.  i tried copying the cells from excel, and chosing to keep all formatting in prefs, and I get some of the formatting, but with text missing from cells (its a mess).
THe original spreadsheet is not linked, so it must've been placed or pasted.
Any ideas what I did 2 years ago ??

If you want to use table styles you have to choose unformatted table.

  • Download SAP Report in Spreadsheet Format with automatic Save As selection

    Hi All,
I'm using an Excel sheet that links up to SAP to grab some data off of QE03. Due to the nature of my data, I have to save the data into Excel/Spreadsheet format (aka this button )
BUT, when you click that button it stops the script for a "Save As" screen, since it isn't a part of SAP. Since I have a macro immediately after the save that cuts the data, I need this to be fully automated and uninterrupted.
Here is the script I have in excel:
    Dim SapGuiAuto
    Dim Apps
    Dim Connection
    Dim session
    Dim WScript
    Sub Master()
            With Sheets("Graphs")
            Call SAP
            Call QE03
            End With
    End Sub
    Sub SAP()
    If Not IsObject(Apps) Then
       Set SapGuiAuto = GetObject("SAPGUI")
       Set Apps = SapGuiAuto.GetScriptingEngine
    End If
    If Not IsObject(Connection) Then
       Set Connection = Apps.Children(0)
    End If
    If Not IsObject(session) Then
       Set session = Connection.Children(0)
    End If
    If IsObject(WScript) Then
       WScript.ConnectObject session, "on"
       WScript.ConnectObject Application, "on"
    End If
    End Sub
    Sub QE03()
    session.findById("wnd[0]").maximize
    session.findById("wnd[0]/tbar[0]/okcd").Text = "/nqe03"

    Hi,
Why are you trying to use  that button?
It's much easier to use simple its called "Local file" u can grab it by shortcut CTRL+SHIFT+f9...
Another option is to use SAP functions:: put "%PC" to command field then enter, and you will get the window with option to save data in excel.
Please find below some examples to download data to excel:
    'For STANDARD T-CODES like MB52
    'export to excel button
    Session.FindById("wnd[0]/tbar[1]/btn[45]").Press
    Session.FindById("wnd[1]/usr/subSUBSCREEN_STEPLOOP:SAPLSPO5:0150/sub:SAPLSPO5:0150/radSPOPLI-SELFLAG[1,0]").Select
    Session.FindById("wnd[1]/tbar[0]/btn[0]").Press
    Uname = CreateObject("WScript.Network").UserName
    Session.FindById("wnd[1]/usr/ctxtDY_PATH").Text = "C:\Users\" & uname & "\Desktop\"
    Session.FindById("wnd[1]/usr/ctxtDY_FILENAME").Text = "TEMP.xls"
    'rewrite
    Session.FindById("wnd[1]/tbar[0]/btn[11]").Press
    OPTION WITH "%PC"
    'save to TEMP
    session.findById("wnd[0]/tbar[0]/okcd").Text = "%pc"
    session.findById("wnd[0]").sendVKey 0
    session.findById("wnd[1]/usr/subSUBSCREEN_STEPLOOP:SAPLSPO5:0150/sub:SAPLSPO5:0150/radSPOPLI-SELFLAG[1,0]").Select
    session.findById("wnd[1]/tbar[0]/btn[0]").press
    session.findById("wnd[1]/usr/ctxtDY_PATH").Text = "C:\Users\" & Uname & "\Desktop\"
    session.findById("wnd[1]/usr/ctxtDY_FILENAME").Text = "TEMP.xls"

  • SSIS 2008 R2 Excel Destination Error, "An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E21.", cannot export to the new Excel (.xlsx) format

    Hello.
I've been attempting to do a very simple task that just isn't working.  For a Data Flow Task action in SSIS, I am trying to export data from a single SQL Server (2008 R2) database table to an Excel spreadsheet (.xlsx).  No matter what I do, it
just keeps failing.  The columns in the table match the column header names (in the first row) in the tab I select.  Here is the output I get.
    SSIS package "Package.dtsx" starting.
Information: 0x4004300A at Data Flow Task, SSIS.Pipeline: Validation phase is beginning.
Warning: 0x80049304 at Data Flow Task, SSIS.Pipeline: Warning: Could not open global shared memory to communicate with performance DLL; data flow performance counters are not available.  To resolve, run this package as an administrator, or on the system's
    console.

Information: 0x40043009 at Data Flow Task, SSIS.Pipeline: Cleanup phase is beginning.
    Task failed: Data Flow Task
    SSIS package "Package.dtsx" finished: Success.
I kick-off the action and sometimes is hangs for a few seconds (20+ seconds) and sometimes it doesn't, but either way it fails.  I tried this on a 32-bit machine, 64-bit machine, and still it fails.  I tried an OLE DB connection to Excel and
that doesn't work either.  I made sure that the connection string for the Excel spreadsheet is Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=[filepath\excelfile].xlsx;Extended Properties="EXCEL 12.0 XML;HDR=YES"; and still it doesn't work.
Now, when I switch it over to export to an Excel 2003 spreadsheet (.xls) it works!  But I don't want it to go to the old Excel spreadsheet format, my requirement is to export the data to the new format.  Is there a bug in the Access 2010 Database
Engine that won't allow me to export to the new Excel format?  Otherwise, what can I be doing wrong?  I set the Run64BitRuntime property to False and it still doesn't work.
My solution (so far) is to export it to Excel 2003 and then via the Script Task action use the Excel COM API (Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.dll) for 2010, open the file and save it in the new format (.xlsx) and that works great!  However, the client
doesn't want to install Excel on the database server!  So what can I do when the Excel Destination or OLE DB Destination (to connect to Excel) actions don't work!?  Please help!!!
Like I mentioned, if this is a bug, that would be great to know so I can stop wasting my time.  Thanks again.

Alright, so you mean to say is that the driver is not installed.  Isn't version 12 the 2010 Access Database Engine Driver?  I did install that, and I also tried the 2007 Access DB Engine driver, and both don't work.  What driver am I missing?
The connection string is correctly formatted, yes?
Also, when setting up the OLE DB Destination action and I have it point to the Excel spreadsheet, and I specify as the provider "Microsoft Office 12.0 Access Database Engine OLE DB Provider" and click on Test Connection, the connection is
successful.  Wouldn't that mean the 12.0 version driver is installed?
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to Format Microsoft Excel spreadsheet generated using RFC

    Hi Portal Experts,
Currently, I've managed to generate a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet using a customized RFC. The spreadsheet was initiated when submitting data from Portal.
But, the data generated in Microsoft Excel was not formatted according to my specification. How could I format the data, alignment and to inset image file in Microsoft Excel automatically when this RFC is being called?
    Cheers.

    Hi Jithu,
If you tried to write the the template the proper (textual) datatypes and the column is and it does not work then
I only can suggest to write a macro that does the Text Column conversion and have the macro triggered from within the package perhaps better off using a separate process (e.g. a console app that is done using Office interop libraries) as doing it right in
    the package is quite laborious.

  • Call Excel SpreadSheet using OLE and set format = text

    Hi All,
I am working on an object, where I need to call Excel SpreadSheet using OLE.
In SpreadSheet, I need to show data as text (Without Excel Internal Modifications).
    i.e
if i pass 03/2007 as month in excel, it should show  01/2007 not jan-07.
I am trying to use the code as below.
call method of cell 'SET_FORMAT' = text.
set property of text 'CATEGORY' = 4.
this code is not giving me desired output.
Is there any other method i can call? or property I can set?
can somebody pls send me a document with list of all formattiong methods and properties. I will really appreciate the help.
    Regards,
    Hardik

Hi, you should concatenate the character ( ' ) into your text, example
    CONCATENATE '''' text INTO text.
Then print the variable Text into excel and you will see the format as Text,
    Thanks and regards.

I want to include a PL*SQL code on a button and this button to run the spreadsheet open save for the User. This functionality is already available in the application (File > Export) and you do not need to write a code to do that.

  • Can't paste copied entries from online CSV file into Excel spreadsheet (chatted with zzxc on 5/3/10 at around 2.30 CST but got disconnected. did not get an answer ...)

Here is the transcript of a chat with Firefox community member zzxcon May 3/10
You are now chatting with Firefox community member zzxc
    zzxc: Hello
zzxc: What happens when you attempt to download a .csv file?
    seegal: hello
    seegal: it doesn't copy
zzxc: how are you trying to copy?
seegal: pls bear with me I'm a slow typist. Just copy selected text
    Biolizard has joined the conversation.
zzxc: ok - which text are you selecting?
seegal: I reconcile my checkbook (spreadsheet this way). I copy the items in my online bank acc and paste it to the spreadsheet
seegal: I'm using Firefox /2.0.0.19. Have no problem to do this.
zzxc: Which version of OS X?
seegal: In all newer version nothing happens when trying to paste- just doesn't paste
zzxc: Firefox 2.0.0.x is no longer supported, and hasn't been supported in over a year
zzxc: Paste into Excel, from Firefox?
    seegal: Sorry, I'm ahead... /2.0.0.19
seegal: Yes. I open my bank acc in Firefox
    zzxc: Which version of Excel?
zzxc: It would really help if you could tell me step by step what you're doing.
seegal: First re: your previous question: it's OS 10.4.11
seegal: About Excell: it'as 2004 version - the lasat one produced for Macs. The specific version is 11.3.7
seegal: So I open my bank acc online in Firfox (my primary browser). I copy the latest entry in the account and paste it into my Excel spreadsheet.
zzxc: so, you copy direct from the web page without downloading a CSV file?
seegal: What do you mean by downloading to CSV file? I could export from the https://chat-support.mozilla.com:9091/webchat/getimage?image=sendmessage&workgroup=support%40workgroup.chat-support.mozilla.comFirefox to the CSV file, but the other way around?
zzxc: Are you copying your bank statement directly from the web site to Excel using the clipboard?
seegal: sI don't use the clipboard. This is a mac. There is no need to do that. In PC it would be yes.
zzxc: I need to know the exact steps you're taking to get them into excel
zzxc: And I need to know what exactly goes wrong in the latest version of Firefox.
seegal: Do you have a mac there with Firefox and Excel? It would be very easy to reproduce. Imagine you open an online bank acc, select some entries , click "copy", than proceed to your already open Excel spreadsheet and click' paste". That's it!
zzxc: When this happens, do you get cryptic code pasted into Excel?
seegal: As I said before: in all newer versions starting with 3.0 when I go to Excel to "paste" from my bank acc nothing happens. It does not paste. No, I don't get a cryptic code pasted, just NOTHING.
zzxc: what if you paste into MS Word instead?
seegal: haven't tried that, the formatting most likely would be lost. Tried that with an other Exc el spreadsheet- it lost all the formating and pasted as continous text.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== Pls. see copy of the chat above. THIS A MAC OS X. In older versions, prior to 3.0 I could copy from CSV file on the website Ibank acc) and paste directly to my Excel spreadheet to reconcile my account.

  • Excel spreadsheets with macro's

    Good day
Excel spreadsheets with macro's created in Windows does not work on my Macbook (excel for mac 2011), even if I enable macro's. I do not create these spreadsheets myself. Cn anyone assist please? Thank you for your time.

    Hi,
As far as I known, the macro/Active X control can be used well with both of the Office 2013 and Office 365.
Would you like to share us a sample file that created in Office 2013? I'd like to test it. You can send it via Email ([email protected]).
If you have any update, please feel free let us know.
    ===========
    Update:
I have received your mail and
attachment. Then, I tested it, I found the probably reason.
You were using ActiveX controls in the sample file, and them displayed 4 tabs in Format control dialog box. Next, you created a new Form control, it displayed 7 tabs.
You were using the two type of controls. ActiveX controls and Form controls
    are different.
    Form controls
Form controls are the original controls that are compatible with earlier versions of Excel, starting with Excel version 5.0. Form controls are also designed for use on XLM macro sheets.
    ActiveX controls
ActiveX controls can be used on worksheet forms, with or without the use of VBA code, and on VBA UserForms. In general, use ActiveX controls when you need more flexible design requirements than those provided by Form controls. ActiveX controls have extensive
properties that you can use to customize their appearance, behavior, fonts, and other characteristics.
For more detail information, please refer to the following link:

  • Issue while downloading the alv report output in spreadsheet format .

    Hi,
I have a report output, whenever I try to download it in the spreadsheet format to my desktop,
    I get the following issue:
Say the correct material number is 10833340001218999 or 10030000063207001
(This appears in the report output)
But in the excel file the number is displayed as 10833340001218900 and 10030000063207000.
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Sucharita.

    Hi Sucharita,
The reason for your problem could be that in excel 2007, characters more that 15 are replaced with 0.
Or you can try downloading the data using FM 'GUI_DOWNLOAD' , if currently you are using stadard SAP functionality of data downloading.
    Best Regards,
    Vishal.

  • Extracting a Report from SAP Spool into a Useful Excel 2010 Format

    Hi All,
Extracting a Report from SAP Spool into a Useful Excel 2010 Format.  I'm currently running the following report in SAP  and would like the
ability to set this report up as a recurring report running weekly and
subsequently access this report in a useable Excel 2010 format without
much data manipulation.  Can you please assist me.  Below, I've tried to
provide an example of what I'm encountering.   Thanks, beforehand for
    your assistance.
    Here goes:
Step one: Run 62 Report in SAP S_P99_41000062- Material List Price and
    Inventory
Step 2. Select stored Variant "Weekly KPI", ok. Enter the enter  the
desired company code and period I want thre report to run for and update
the currency, if necessary. Having input my desired criteria, I believe
I can either execute immediately, run in the background, preset to run
at date in the future. For this example let's just execute, immediately.
This is where the difference originates. Given, I run this report
immediately, I'm able to simply extract the result to Excel via the list
selection noted in the tool bar below.  The result is a data friendly
excel 2007  report is automatically generated.
    Export to Excel via list:
Select save and Excel 2007 opens automatically:
That said, the method outlined above works perfectly fine if you want
the report immediately.  Now let go back and run the exact same report
with exceptoin of running it in the background and having to retrieve it
from the Spool (SP01) uisng my user ID.  Given the report generated in
the background,  I would now access the report via the spool and make
    the following selections:
SP01 + execute to see my report
I would hit the sunglasses to see the actual report, then want to
extract this report to Excel by selecting the export option.
I would at this point select spreadsheet and be given an option to save
the spreadsheet to local file. However, upon trying to open the
spreadsheet I will receive an error messageindicating that the format is
different than that which the file I am currently trying to open it
with.  I'm currently running Excel 2010 on my computer.  The currency
format and other issues arrise with this extract.  Please help.
    Thanks,
    Chowadary.

    Update to Latest GUI.
Use   List -> Export -> Spreadsheet  to get the output to excel.
I remember in ALV max length allowed is 1023 characters and the max no of columns supported is 90. Issue occurs when row size of exported data gets more than 1023 character. (This includes if Long/Medium Header Text used ) If it exceed 1023 character the columns splits and moves to next row.
Check your fieldcatog for header lengths.

  • Automatically open excel spreadsheets with numbers

can anyone tell me is it possible to set numbers as the default application to ALWAYS open excel spreadsheets? each time i try to open an excel spreadsheet the computer starts up the trial office software. I then have to cancel and choose "open with" and then set "always open with" numbers.
Having just converted from Windows, I was able to set certain programs to always handle specific file formats, e.g. .jpg, mpeg, avi so I did not have to choose the program every single time i wanted to open a file.
thx., same goes for pages ,in lieu of word?

Select an Excel file and option-select (Right Mouse Button) and select Get "Info". See attachment below to set "Open With."

  • How to Schedule Report Output in EXCEL (.cvs) format for Planning 11.1.2.1

    Hi all,
I'm using Planning 11.1.2.1 for entering data and generating reports manually via Workspace. I wanna set up an automation process with a batch scheduler.
I've gone over the documentation. I've read about creating batches first then scheduling batches next.
However, the biggest issue I have is that I want to extract all my reports into EXCEL Spreadsheet (.cvs) format and according to the docs, it only supports output in PDF or HTML for 11.1.2.1.
Is this true? Is there a way to work around this by using Business Rules at command prompt?
    Thanks,
    N

If you have the Financial Report open there are two options:
    - in the bottom right hand corner of the report click the link: "Export In Query ready Mode"
(this opens the report so you can use it as an Excel retrieve)
    - from the Hyperion menu, select File>Export>Excel
(this exports the headers as objects and the data grid, so you can manipulate in Excel).
    Cheers, Iain

  • Linking to specific cells in an Excel spreadsheet no longer working

I use RoboHelp HTML version 7 and just upgraded to MS Office 2007.  I have project that contains hyperlinks to specific cells in an Excel spreadsheet using the following syntax: <a HREF="../file_name.xls#cell_name">  (a tip I found on Peter Grainge's website).  This worked fine with Office 2003.
With Office 2007, however, the hyperlink opens the Excel spreadsheet to the first cell on the first tab regardless of the the #cell_name suffix.  I've tried the following with no success:
delete the .xls baggage file, convert the .xls to the newer .xlsx format, add the .xlsx as a baggage file, rename the hyperlinks to .xlsx (in HTML view), generate new output
same as above but re-creating the hyperlinks (rather than just renaming)
When I preview the topic, the hyperlink is active but does not open the spreadsheet (topic cannot be found).  In the generated output, the hyperlink is not even a hyperlink (just plain old text).
Another unusual behavior (I have no idea if this is related) -- before I tried to fix this, when the original spreadsheet (.xls) opened in "compatibility mode," it was not maximized in Excel's window.  When I used to open this in Office 2003, it was always maximized.
Does anyone know if the #cell_name suffix works in Office 2007?  Is there another way to link to a specific cell?

    Hi all
As I understand it, the "X" on the 2007 stuff signifies a format similar to a zipped format. If what I understand is true, it would seem to make sense that this would also somewhat preclude linking in the manner you are speaking of. It would be akin to opening a specific document after first opening the zip archive.
    Cheers... Rick

  • How to get an effective EXCEL Spreadsheet as output for Oracle report 10g

    Hi All,
I am a newbie in Oracle reporting. I am using 10g. I have an oracle report whose output format is PDF from the user interface. User asked for Spreadsheet output. I changed the JAVA CODE "desformat" = Spreadsheet and got the report in Excel. But this report is not as expected as it has many blank cells, misplacements etc and looks really ugly. so Is there anyway to get an excellent spreadsheet as output.
If anybody needs any more information on this, please let me know.
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much Marwim. Your suggestion is very helpful. But I have some other Oracle reports which have only one .rdf file giving output in both pdf and Excel. This doubt might be silly. Almost same features were existing for the rdf what I am working now. For the remaining reports, it was given that DESFORMAT=SPREADSHEET , what this report lacks. I googled and found these links http://docs.oracle.com/html/B13895_01/orbr_paptoexcel.htm &
http://docs.oracle.com/html/B13895_01/orbr_paptoexcel.htm#CIHFDJAJ . But they are not intended for excel output. they generate only web layout in spreadsheet form. Could you please suggest any other ways to achieve this.
    Thank you in advacne.
