Exception starting server when using wlserver Ant task

Hello All:
When attempting to start my server using the wlserver Ant task, i receive the following error:
[wlserver] java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: weblogic/Server
[wlserver] Exception in thread "main"
[wlserver] Error in server execution
my snippet is as follows:
<target name="start-server">
<wlserver beahome="C:\bea" weblogichome="c:\bea\weblogic81" host="localhost"
                    port="7001" username="weblogic" domainname="mydomain" password="weblogic"
                    servername="myserver" action="start"/>
</target>
It seems as if it should work fine. Anybody have any solutions? Thanks in advance.
Ricky

Ricky,
You have to add the weblogic JARs to the classpath of the wlserver task.
add something similar to the following (bold text are additions):
<path id="classpath.weblogic">
<fileset dir="c:/bea/weblogic81/server/lib">
<include name="weblogic_sp.jar" />
<include name="weblogic.jar" />
<include name="webserviceclient.jar" />
</fileset>
</path>
<target name="start-server">
<wlserver beahome="C:\bea" weblogichome="c:\bea\weblogic81" host="localhost"
port="7001" username="weblogic" domainname="mydomain" password="weblogic"
servername="myserver" action="start" classpathref="classpath.weblogic"/>
</target>

  • How to start weblogic instance using wlserv ant task

    Hi,
    Iam using weblogic 8.1
    Iam trying to write build script which starts remote weblogic instance and does deploy using wldeploy and restarts the instance.
    First iam trying with starting weblogic.

              </wlserver>
    ==============================
    Iam getting an issue here , it starts the weblogic but automatically it stops the weblogic , without any exception.
    as per their documentation
    "When you use the wlserver task in an Ant script, the task does not return control until the specified server is available and listening for connections. If you start up a server instance using wlserver, the server process automatically terminates after the Ant VM terminates. If you only connect to a currently-running server using the wlserver task, the server process keeps running after Ant completes."
    I understand what they are saying , but what is the remedy to it , how to rectify it. I tried starting default server it gives NPE.
    ITs kinda very urgent for me any help , or available scripts will be very use ful.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Properties file not found by classloader when using wlappc ant task

    I have encountered a problem with the WebLogic Ant task "wlappc". When this task compiles a webmodule that uses the struts 1.1 framework I get the below error. This struts based web module deploys and runs fine on BEA Weblogic 8.1 SP2 as an exploded EAR structure. But when I attempt to precompile all the J2EE modules the struts web module will not compile with wlappc. The project is strutured correctly in a split directory structure. The problem area seems to be that we are using the struts-el (struts-el.jar) classes which need the properties files located in the struts.jar. The classloader seems to space out when running via the wlappc ant task. I tried adjusting the classpath via the "classpath" wlappc ant task attribute - but no success. Has anyone had this or a similiar problem?
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance,
    Scott

    I've looked at the source code ant it is actually using the current thread's classloader.
    The fact is that it works fine when deployed to tomcat 4.1.30, but it fails when deploying on our weblogic managed servers.

    Help
    ==================================================================================== -->
    The 3 errors shown above correspond to the 3 tags at the same level in the session.xml file. I have tested this validation process with a session.xml file generated from the workbench and that failed too. Since its a NoSuchMethodException it looks like my ant process isn't finding the oracle.toplink.tools.sessionconfiguration.XMLLoader class, but that is in toplink.jar which is in the class path.
    Any help appreciated

    Dear Arun,
    The WLS server is the same for (integrated WLS and Production) . For JRF template I'm sure it is the same. I have deploy another application that used BC, and it work fine in production.

  • Problems with wlserver ant task for WL 8.1

    hi
    i have a problem with using wlserver ant task for Weblogic 8.1
    basically i want to start the server that is already preconfigured and deploy
    one ear.
    here's what i do:
    <taskdef name="wlserver" classname="weblogic.ant.taskdefs.management.WLServer">
    <classpath refid="lib.classpath"/>
    </taskdef>
    <wlserver action="start" dir="D:/BEA/user_projects/domains/mydomain"
    output="wls81.log"/>
    (and then the deployment task - irrelevant here)
    the classpath is generated automatically and includes all jars in the specific
    project directory:
         <path id="lib.classpath">
         <fileset dir="${proj.lib.dir}">
              <include name="**/*.jar"/>
         </fileset>
         </path>
    (weblogic.jar is there as well)
    the problem is when i run it, the following happens:
    - if i have action="start" (or no action attribute at all), i get the following
    exception:
    java.lang.NullPointerException
    at weblogic.Home.<init>(Home.java:29)

    - if i change it to action="startup" as specified on "wlserver Ant Task Reference"
    it seems that this task is skipped completely. no error messages, no stack trace,
    nothing. i tried -verbose and -debug options on ant, but there're no logs displayed
    whatsoever. it takes less than a second to run this task so i presume it's just
    getting skipped completely.
    i run this from the standalone Ant 1.5.4 on Windows environment.
    i've followed the topic "wlserver Ant task for WebLogic 8.1" where kind of similar
    problem is described but putting weblogic.jar on the system CLASSPATH is not an
    option for this project.
    anyone has any idea about how to get this going?
    cheers

    sounds bug to me. NPE should be correctly handled with appropriate error
    message. Please contact BEA support to log the call.

    I heard that wlconfig and wlserver ant tasks do not work with Weblogic 7.0 is that
    true?

    Could you send your build file as an attachment. Also I need to know
    under which
    directory this build file is place. Is it correct that you are failing
    to run
    command:

    However I wanted to see if the wlserver tak gives me any added advantage.
    I have my own build file. I use the ant command to run the build.
    I know I am missing a class, I want to know which class I need in my

  • Weblogic 9.1 Deployment errors using the ANT task wldeploy

    I am not able to deploy applicatons using the ANT task. The same works with Weblogic 8.1. It is throwing a NoClassDefFoundError. It is looking for a class by name javax/management/InvalidAttributeValueException.
    This class file is shipped as part of jmx.jar. I tried to include it and then there was another NoClassDefFoundError that occured.
    The problem is I don't want to keep adding these different jars to make the ant deployment work. Can anyone please let me know what could be the problem.
    I am using a Windows XP OS and 1.4.2_10 as java version.
    I have added all the jars in the weblogic91\server\lib directory to the classpath.
    Also I have my apache ant tasks set in the classpath.
    Thanks
    Shankar Chandrasekaran

    Have had a bit of these CLASSPATH issues when jumping versions.
    Have had the best success when I create a different profile for each one, making sure the version you want is the only one defined. the main thing my profile sets is
    unset PATH
    unset CLASSPATH
    unset JAVA_HOME
    then
    export PATH=
    export CLASSPATH= the weblogic 9 one
    export JAVA_HOME= the one with 9
    or however they do it in windows, but make sure you CLASSPATH is only refencing the 9 jars

  • "The task sequence has been suspended" when using a conditional task sequence

    I'm getting the dreaded "The task sequence has been suspended. LiteTouch has encountered and Environment Error (Boot into WinPE!)" when using a conditional task sequence.
    I've created a "Install Application" task  right before the "Restart Computer" in the postinstall phase. The task installs a Dell Bios update.  I've added two WMI conditions on the task, to match it with the correct model and to check that the
    bios not current.  This works very well, except for a strange issue.  When the computer reboots into WinPE, I get the error above.  The message stays for about 30 second and then disappears.  After that the computer reboots into Windows
    7, runs the Bios Update and throws up a similar message but with the addition of Use the desktop shortcut to resume.  (however there is no shortcut).  The message disappears after a while and the process stops there. If I reboot
    manually, the installation will continue and finish without any error. It's as if a LTIsuspend.wsf was inserted.
    Does anyone have any clue what's happening?

    Thanks for the answers, but I finally figured it out.  The problem was due to where I had inserted it during the deployment sequence.  The bios update task sequence was attempting to run in WinPE.  I moved the sequence to the state restore
    section and now it's working perfectly.  I was trying to run the update earlier during the installation sequence, as was recommened by Dell, but that doesn't appear to be feasible.  This will have to do.

    My iPhone 3Gs has started crashing when using apps once the battery gets down to around 80%. Sometimes it will reboot on its own, and other times you have to leave it for an hour or so and then manually turn the phone on again. Any ideas?

  • Limited functionality in Win 8.1 Start Screen when using Server 2012 GPO

    I'm testing Windows 8.1 EE with Server 2012 for a school where I need to configure a common layout that users are unable to change. So, I have configured a start layout and exported it via Powershell to the server and it works fine across my various test
    user ids apart from a couple of things.
    If I create tiles on the start screen which point to specific websites such as Scratch, they only work on the user I exported the start layout from - they don't appear on other user start screens under the same GPO. I can get round this by creating a desktop
    shortcut in the GPO under User Config/Prefs/Win settings/shortcuts. It's a bit crude but it works so if there is a straightforward way of creating tiles that do this I'd prefer that..
    The other challenge is getting a documents tile on the start screen. I'm using roaming profiles and folder redirection as pupils could log onto any machine and once again, I can set this up and export the start layout to the server but only the user whose
    start screen I exported gets the documents folder on their start screen when the GPO is applied. The other users just get a blank space. I guess when I create the tile it's pointing to the specific users folder on the server which other users won't have access
    to so it needs to pick up the specific username of whoever is logged on...
    Any suggestions would be appreciated... Thanks

    Hi,
    Please make sure that the .xml file with the Start screen layout must be located on shared network storage that is available to the users’ computers when they sign in (the users must have Read-only access to the file). If the
    file is not available at sign-in, the Start screen is not customized during the session, and the user can make changes to the Start screen.
    After you use Group Policy to import a customized Start screen layout on a computer or in a domain, you can update the layout simply by replacing the .xml file that is specified in the Start Screen Layout policy settings.
    To change the Start screen layout imported by Start Screen Layout policy settings
    Customize the Start screen on your test computer the way that you want it to look for users.
    Run the Export-StartLayout cmdlet, with the following format, to export the new Start screen layout to an .xml file that overwrites the original file:
    export-startlayout –path <path><file name>.xml -as xml
    That’s all you need to do. The next time the users sign in to their computers, the GPO will import the new Start screen layout.

  • Out of memory issue when executing wlappc ant task

    I am using weblogic 8.1 sp1 and doing a compilation for a little bit large EAR file using ant task. But it always throws out of memory error when the wlappc invoked the compiler to compile the jsp files.
    According to BEA's documentation<CR104610>, I put the runtimeflags with "-J-ms256m -J-mx512m" option into the wlappc tag and Ant seems recognizing this option but it didn't work. I tried every possible memory size to get rid of this problem, but the process still failed with the error message:
    The system is out of resources.
    Consult the following stack trace for details.
    java.lang.OutOfMemoryError
    - with nested exception:
    [Compilation errors : ]
    My computer has 1G memory, so it shouldn't be the hardware problem.
    Does anyone have an idea on this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jacky

    Hi,
    Ant seems to use its own JVM and thus in the javac options during runtime,try specifying ANT java options for setting the memory parameters.
    ANT options would be memoryInitialSize and memoryMaximumSize.

    Hope this helps.

  • No contact with DHCP server when using VPN Client

    Pretty weird problem I discovered recently.
    We use the VPN Client to connect to a 1841 router. Everything works fine except for one small thing.
    The client do not send out _any_ traffic if the destination is the ip-address of the DHCP-server the client got its original ip-address from.
    This is verified by Wireshark. A ping on the client do not produce any ESP packets towards the VPN concentrator. No matter what traffic you try actually.
    Discovered this when wanting to use Remote Desktop towards the Windows Server that is the local DHCP server and was not able to connect. Then tested ping and still no response. That made me look closer and found out that I could not communicate at all with the DHCP server.
    As I said, pretty weird.
    Anyone else have seen this? Anyone have a solution? Right now I use OpenVPN instead when I need to control that server.
    - Roger

    Hi and thanks for responding.
    Nothing here apart from being unable to send any packets to the dhcp-server. No problem sending to any other system on the same subnet. The same happens when I connect my pc to another subnet that is served by another dhcp-server. Then I can not connect to _that_ dhcp-server. I can then of course connect to the previous dhcp-server.
    I mean _no_ packets are generated out the client at all if the destination are your dhcp-server. No problem with the packet being blocked by a firewall or anything like that. Ping another system on the same subnet as the dhcp-server and the client happily generates ESP packets and sends them to the vpn-concentrator.
    I do not know if it was clear enough in the first post so I am saying it here: the vpn-concentrator gives out the ip for the vpn connection. The dhcp-server I can not connect to is the server that gives the client its ip-address _before_ starting up the vpn client.
    We use this vpn system so the IT personell will be able to connect to restricted resources from their laptops anywhere in the network, also when using wireless.
    This was discovered when one admin wanted to connect from his laptop to a server that also happened to be the dhcp-server that had given his laptop his ip address before he used vpn.
    Should be easy enough for anyone else to test. Just ping your dhcp-server after starting the vpn connection. No RFC 1918 addresses of course, there must be a route from your vpn-concentrator to your dhcp-server and at least icmp echo must be open through any firewall/acl.
    The vpn version is 4.8.00.0440 on Windows XP configured to not allow local LAN access. I might test this with other versions/OS'es when I have the time.
    Regards,
    - Roger
