Exchange 2013 stops receiving external email after about 8 hours

Hello,
Just installed 2013 excahnge server 3 days ago. We noticed after the first night that we did not receive any external emails throughout the night.  I could not find anything wrong with receive connectors.  Telnet works internally when this
happens but NO access from public side testing with telnet.  After I reboot the exchange server everything functions just fine and normal for about 8 hours until it happens again.
I dont know what to check or look for at this point.  Very new to exchange 2013.  Any kind of advice would be helpful at this time.
It is not a firewall issue.  Same firewall and set of rules that we use for other/old mail servers.  We only have 1 exchange server that has all roles.

OK... Did alot of testing and spent some time with Microsoft's support on the phone.
I believe there is actually two problems going on in this thread.
1. Exchange 2013 Admins that have changed the default receive connectors are experiencing a conflict on the scope settings. Make sure that none of the receive connectors are using the same ports, and that you have not modified the security settings in anyway
unless you really know what you are doing.
If you are unsure of what the settings should be after you have change them, the only suggestion I have right now, (as I have not taken the time to do screen shots or write down all the default settings) is to install Exchange 2013 on a virtual machine and
look at them, then change back the settings that do not match.
2. The Malware Agent has a flaw that is causing the the Microsoft Exchange Transport service to endlessly wait on the Malware Agent to process a message that it just can't handle. (Two reboots of the entire server may be needed to clear this, or sometimes
you can get away with restarting the Microsoft Exchange EdgeSync service.)
The Microsoft technician had me perform a sequence of steps that highlighted this. To see if this is infact your problem you can perform the following steps.
A)  Once the Exchange server stops processing messages, figure out the rough time it stopped processing messages.
B)  Open the event viewer.
C)  Under "Windows Logs", right click "Application", select "Filter Current Log...", check "Warning" and "Error", then click "OK".
D) Scroll down the log to the rough time that your Exchange Server stopped processing messages. You are looking for a slew of errors about the same time from "MSExchange Extensibility" (1051), "MSExchange Transport" (9201), "MSExchange
Transport" (9201), "MSExchange Extensibility" (1056), "MSExchangeTransport" (10003), and "MSExchange Common" (4999).
It is the "MSExchangeTransport" (10003) that I believe is the real problem. The Microsoft technician agreed. He did not want to spectulate as to exactly what was going on, but it seems to me that since he had me disable the "Malware Agent"
for now, that it is indeed the problem.
E) So.... Open the Exchange Management Console and type "Disable-TransportAgent", followed by enter. It will prompt "Supply values for the following parameters:". Enter "Malware Agent", press enter again. Type "A",
for yes to all.
or
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj150526.aspx"
F) Go to run, enter "services.msc". On the window that opens, find "Micorosoft Exchange Transport" and restart it.
I know this is NOT a fix, but a work around that is less than desired as the Malware Agent is a filter to keep unwanted emails out. I highly recommend running some sort of 3rd party spam/Malware filter that has been fully tested to run with Exchange
2013 if you do this.
Microsoft is to contact me back once they can figure out why this is happening, and I believe in the end a patch for Exchange 2013 will be produce to correct the problem.
In the mean time.... don't waste your money on paying Micorosoft for support, as I have already done this.
For the individuals who say they are not experiencing trouble, I am going to go out on a limb here and say that either you have a 3rd party software program that is filtering the mail before it reaches the Malware Agent, you have disabled the Malware Agent,
or you are using another mail server to forward email to your Exchange 2013 server. With either of these cases you are much less likely to see this problem.
One last issue that a few people may be experiencing, is Exchange 2013, running on Server 2012 that is a VM. Several VM setups have a bug with the VM NIC management interface and Windows Server if you are using the same NIC for both. For example Xen
Server 5.6 and XEN XCP both have this bug. There is an patch for XEN Server 5.6, but so far nothing for Xen XCP.
I have spent many hours trying to figure my problems with Exchange 2013 and I will not swear that my entire post is correct, but I have gotten very much closer to a stable mail server after much work. If you feel that anything is incorrect, please reply
back and let me know why, so that we may all benifit.
P.S. Sorry for the mis-spellings and what not, I am very tired at the moment, and was forced to use explorer, because this site is not liking Chrome at the moment. (Will not let me login)

  • How to configure AD on windows 2012 server for Exchange 2013 internal and external email flow

    Dear Experts,
I have to configure exchange 2013 on Windows server 2012 STD. Company has registered Static IP addresses and can get the MX record pointing to any of this Static IP.
The registered domain name is e.g.  contoso.com.
    a. What should I use as domain name on AD? contoso.com or contoso.local
    b. Is it recommended to have two different servers  for AD and Exchange?
    c. What should be my connector settings for mail flow?
    d. how can I set 2 email servers in company for load balancing?

    Hi,
a, I suggest use contoso.com as domain name. It is convenient to add urls into our certificate for internal and external mail flow.
    b, Recommended that installing AD
and Exchange Server on two separate
Servers. If Exchange Server downed unfortunately, it can prevent AD server from crushing at the same time.

  • Exchange 2013 not receiving internal and external emails ..

I have a coexistence of exchange 2007 and exchange 2013 ..2013 mailboxes where able to receive and send mails (internal and external) but suddenly the mail flow has stopped.
    Mail flow status
    2013 to 2007 = OK
    2013 to internet = OK
    2013 to 2013 = OK
    2007 to 2013 = FAIL
    Internet to 2013 = FAIL
incoming internet mails return the NDR below
    Diagnostic information for administrators:
    Generating server: mydomain.com
    [email protected]
    Remote Server returned '< #4.4.7 smtp;400 4.4.7 Message delayed>'
What could be a possible reason for this?
    Cheers guys ..
..forever is just a minute away*

    Hi Richard,
    Thank you for your question.
When there is a coexistence of Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2013, external email will be sent and received by Exchange 2013.
4.4.7 means message expired, message wait time in queue exceeds limit, potentially due to remote server(your Exchange server ) being unavailable.
If your organization has correct MX record in ISP. We could refer to the following link to check if MX record is correct:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998082(v=exchg.65).aspx
If we could telnet Exchange server by the following command: telnet mail.domain.com 25
If there is a receive connector on Exchange 2013 to receive Internet emails, we could create a receive connector to receive message from the Internet by the following link:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj657447(v=exchg.150).aspx
If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

  • Exchange 2010: New Mailboxes cannot receive external email, but internal works fine. Existing Mailboxes are working properly.

    Hello,
I can't seem to figure out what the problem is, but my new mailboxes cannot receive external email. The sender receives an NDR stating the following:
The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 No such user - psmtp (state 13).
Internally, the affected mailboxes can send and receive mail, and the mailboxes have no trouble sending mail out of the organization. I do not see an anti-spam solution installed on the exchange server, and I have confirmed that DNS resolved to the WAN IP
    of this server.
Can anyone help me? The message tracker didn't appear to have recorded the NDR's that it sent, but it's possible I didn't view the logs correctly.
    Thank you!

Is your Exchange server exposed to the Internet or do you have some
3rd-party device that does spam filtering? If you have something out
in front of Exchange that only periodically refreshes its cache of
valid SMTP addresses from the AD then you need to adjust the refresh
    rate.
That "550 No such user" isn't a status code that Exchange returned.

  • Mails From Exchange 2013 are received as SPAM

    Hello,
We have Exchange 2013 configured to send and receive mails internally and externally. Everything is going great except the fact that the mails sent FROM our Exchange 2013 are received as SPAM. For example, I send an email from exchange to my gmail account
(generally to any EXTERNAL receipt). I receive the mail in the SPAM folder.
    Any ideas Please !!

    Hi,
Firstly, I’d like to recommend you find out exactly what the problem is and resolve it before bothering to delisting from the blacklist.
And based on my knowledge, there are the following reasons:
    1. Exchange Server is pumping out SPAM emails because a mailbox password was compromised:
Please figure out which mailbox user is the culprit by looking over event viewer logs and change the password. Then clear email queue and see if any new spam emails are generated, if the change of password stops the flow of SPAM email, we can remove the domain
    name from the blacklist.
    2. One of our computers are infected with a mass mailing worm virus:
We can check our firewall log
For information about removing from blacklist, you can refer to the following similar thread:

  • Exchange 2013 issues - (new send email Stuck in Drafts not send)

Exchange 2013 issues - (new send email Stuck in Drafts folder not send)

I am also having this issue.
server 2012 VM with exchange 2013. plenty of resources, more than recommended so cannot be a BAck Pressure issue especially as no clients are connected yet.
In the early stages of setup and testing, mail sent to other mailboxes worked fine in outlook 2007 and OWA but after a few issue that developed and are now resolved, any e-mail send within outlook or OWA just goes straight into the drafts folder.
I tried, DNS setting changes under roles, on the server, on DNS server, MX DNS records, increased resources, looked at received connectors, changed and even deleted send connectors as this is not required for internal mail. Tried changing authentication
types but then outlook won't connect to, staying with Basic Auth.
Have not been able to test inbound e-mail as this is going to replace a production server and is not ready, although I could probably simulate a route from another server and push e-mail to it. Will try tomorrow.
I have spent about 20 hours trying to figure this out and made probably 40 changes. Change, test, rollback etc. Been searching through loads of forums and technet sites all with no help.
All services are started, server has been rebooted several times.
It is also an AD server and has both Exchange roles installed. There is no reason why it should not work. This is so frustrating, we don't have these issues with the now end of life Scalix, or MDaemon or Zimbra. Pity the client wanted a Microsoft solution.
To be honest there are not a lot of things that cannot be changed in ECP although there is more under exchange powershell however I am not familiar with all the commands yet. I have resorted to watching training videos even though I am a seasoned IT Pro, although
not so much with exchange it seems.
I have seen many people have this issue on Exchange 2007, 2010 and 2013. Someone must know how to resolve this or find a work around?
So far I have an expensive solution the client has purchased that I cannot get running properly.
Aside from this issue, I really like the new Server 2012 and new Hyper-V.
I was about to install Exchange Server 2013 on a physical machine due to this f#ckin' issue. But a post for the DNS change has saved my life:

  • Exchange 2013 wil NOT send email, same problem as every other exchange 2013 user, typical everything.

I have a brand new dell server 2 netwrok cards. One WAN one LAN connected, each with its respective DNS server added to the card. In OWA the sent email shows in drafts, in outlook it shows in sent items, the user NEVER gets it, internally or externally.
i get all mail from the internet, exactly as expected no problem, all tests show this is working everything checks out fine, server runs great, full blown domain controller with exchange 2013 added. ONLY problem after the 9th install, is still the same, exchange
will NOT send email, everything else works perfectly event log looks great. I do see the DNS error where a DNS server on that network card is not responding crap, which is not true, internet works, al pages everything, NO firewall Bare connect while i get
it to work. I HAVE been over the forums for the last week, tried all done all. i am an MSCE, was an MCSE instructor for 10+ years, Exchange Administrator, Exchange instructor for years, so yea, i am not some newb who has no clue, this DOES NOT WORK. it
came at the CU1 level right out of the box, so i did not install and break it myself Microsoft is now selling this broken. Where do i go what do i do here. Like i said, every other aspect is in perfect order, Just email not sent, not showing in exchange tracking
logs, and that DNS error on the event log, and YES i made the send connector, and the 3 setting it asks, not like that could be wrong, i mean seriously you put in very little info, any wrong entry would be obvious to even a child. SO walk me through what is
going worng, as soon as this server sends an email, i am done building this domain, Please Help here.

The new default Firefox Start Page / homepage - '''about:home''' - doesn't give users that incorrect message.

  • Suddenly stopped receiving my emails

Getting really annoyed with this all of a sudden my 9320 has stopped receiving my emails I have tried reloading the email address but all I get is 'Activation request failed A service connection is unavailable'  I have a wifi connection and can access things like Facebook so there is no problem there!
How do I sort this, I contacted O2 but the answer from them was uselessas they say this
    Click Setup
Click on the Email Settings icon
You may need to scroll down and enter your BlackBerry User Name and Password
    Click on Email Accounts hyperlink
    You should now click on,
Edit to change the email account settings    (this does not come up on my phone!!!!!!)
Delete to delete the email account
Add An Email Account to add another email account
All I get is the same error message

Hi and Welcome to the Community!!
When you are in a place with strong carrier network signal (not WiFi only), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you indeed should try deleting and re-adding your BIS configuration for the affected email accounts. Otherwise, you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support...email is a service dependent on your plan from your carrier, and perhaps they have something mucked up with that.
    Good luck!

  • My Ipad Air and my Iphone have both stopped receiving incoming emails.   What do I do?emails.

My Ipad air and my iphone 4s stopped receiving incoming email messages.  What do I do.

Thats a tough one, I've gone through many transfers for my computers or friends computers, have only seen this one time.  I can only make a couple suggestions of what I'd do not that its the "best practice" or anything like that but my best results ended up being a TimeMachine transfer but I do need to find out more info.
What OSX is running on your former machine and whats on your new machine?
When was the last time you used your Disk Utility to Repair Disk Permissions or Repair Disk on your old machine?
Its always a good idea to do the above steps and also make sure you're running the latest version of that particular OSX whatever that may be.  I started using TimeMachine with an external USB drive which seemed to be the most productive for me but does have the same result if migrating from an older Mac.
    Hope this helps somewhat

I don't know if you've got this solved or not but I started getting this too about a month ago. I just had it happen again about 10 minutes ago. I was on a website & BAM black screen, I don't hear the usual "winding down" of the hard drive though, so the HD sounds as though it's still working properly AND there's a weird hue around the edges of the screen so it's not pitch black as though the monitor turned off. Once I force shut down then I get the true pitch black screen before it turns back on again.
Also, every time this happens & I re-start the hard drive tends to be working very hard doing something in the background for at least 2-5 minutes not sure why?
