Exchange and Mac and iPhone

I have an Exchange account for work and a MobileMe account for personal use. I am thinking of getting an iPhone. What I would like to happen is have the same information (i.e. contacts and calendar items) on all three items. Is this possible to accomplish? Is it possible that if I update on one f the three devices that it will sync to the other two? I do not need any differentiating between the three devices (i.e. personal contact & business contacts). I just want to have the same contacts and calendar items on all the devices. Please advise, my exchange is done on a PC that runs XP with outlook 2003, and mobileme is on my macbook pro via Mail and Address Book.

I use my iPhone for Exchange email and contacts, and MobileMe - no problems at all so far.
You may wish to check the pages on iPhone in Enterprise to ensure your Exchange servers are correctly configured.
I've not edited any Outlook contacts on my iPhone yet, so can't speak for that bit.

  • Recent problem syncing exchange and iPhone

Until recently I have successfully and happily synced my Exchange (work) calendar and my iPhone.  I use my Exchange calendar as my default calendar.  For the past few weeks I have not been able to. I have checked my settings, Exchange is my default calendar.  I have deleted and reinstalled my account (twice).  Events that I enter on my computer show up on my iPhone (hurrah). Events that I enter on my iPhone do NOT show up on my computer (very problematic).  This was not a problem until the past few weeks, before then everything was seamless.

Can you log in directly to your exchange account, bypassing Outlook? The first thing I would check is that the sync between iPhone and exchange is working correctly. By that I mean, making sure that when you add or delete events on your iPhone that it is also doing the same to your exchange account. It is possible that it is not synced correctly to exchange. Or it could be an issue with Outlook itself not getting the updated information. Maybe Outlook is not looking for the updates but every hour or something so it appears to not be syncing.
I would also try deleting the exchange account from your iPhone and then reset up your account. When I set up my exchange account and calendars it seemed to work fine for me. Whenever I added an event to one, the other received it. However, I was logging directly into Exchange. Give that a try. Maybe someone else might have some other advice.

  • Exchange and iPhone Calendars not separated

My iPhone 3GS is sync with the Exchange Calendar of my company. I can see the exchange and local iPhone calendar, but they are both labeled "Calendar" with color code next to each.
For some reason, my wife iPhone is on the same version and model as mine - 3.1.3 / MC132ZP, and she also sych with the same Exchange server, but her calendar list is sub-labeled into "Calendar" and My Exchange "Calendar". I prefer the way her Calendars are grouped and labeled as it is much clearer. This kinds of bother me. Even there is color code next to the Calendar list on my iPhone, but just wondering how I can get mine behave the same as my wife's phone.
    Thank you for your help.

Are you using iCloud? Go to Settings/Mail, Contacts.... and try turning off Contacts on one device and then turning it back on.

  • How to sync Mac, Exchange and iphone

I have calendars on ical. I have calendars on Entourage (in the cloud). Both show up in the iCal calendar views.
When I create a new event in ical we can chose which calendar it goes into. The events made in iCal do not Sync with my iphone. The events made in Exchange do synch wirelessly with my iPhone. How do I make BOTH calendars sync with the iPhone? I thought Snow Leopard had Exchange synch for ical?
Also, does anyone know how to control the colors of calendars on iphones? Can do on ical, but cannot figure out the phone--seems to be randomly assigned!

How are you getting events from Exchange onto your iPhone? I can get everything BUT events to my phone via IMExchange, but the only way I've been able to get my Exchange calendar events to my phone is by inviting myself (via my home email) and accepting it in iCal. Kind of a pain.

  • NHS exchange and Iphone Issues

Until recently when you added your nhs.net account to the Mail programme on your iphone it would ask you for a passkey - this was typically the same as your lock screen PIN and was used in order to make sure your emails couldnt be broken into.
Whats happened recently is that just like the exchange server on a regular basis will ask you for a new login password if you were access your email via a desktop, it has also started doing this to your iphone.
    Whats wrong with that?
It now forces you to change your iphone lock screen PIN and then wont allow you to change it back to one you remember as it has a memory of not allowing you to change it back to any of the previous 5 PINs.
This is very annoying - is apple aware that the exchange servce has this ability?
Fear not tho - simply delete and then add again your account as usual and it allows you to keep your old PIN again!

No, there is not. The iPhone's Mail app cannot handle .ics attachments.
You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.

If you have been using the mac.com Apple ID to make iTunes purchases recently, then there should be no issues continuing to use it with the new iPhone. I would abandon the new ID as you will never get Apple to merge the two IDs. I have had a mac.com ID for years and continue to use it with my iPhone 4S.
Tell us the issues that you encounter trying to set up the iPhone with the mac.com account.

As Bob says, any iMap service can do this. GMail can, iCLoud mail can too.
Both of these can be used with Mail on any device.

  • Syncing Mail Notifications Between Mac and iPhone

    Hi
I been having this problem with the mail notifications not syncing between the Mail.app on my MacBook Pro and iPhone. Let me explain:
When I get a new email, I hear the sound and see the red notification icon appear on both the MacBook and the iphone. When it comes to checking the new email, here are the two possible scenarios:
    a) If I check the new email on my phone, the red notification icon disappears from BOTH the iphone and the MacBook.
    b) If I check the new email on my MacBook, the red notification disappears from the MacBook but DOESN'T disappears from the iPhone (that is until I open the app). This happens with both cases, when the app is "running" in the background or when it is complety closed.
I don't know if I am crazy but I am pretty sure that both of the notifications used to disappear before, no matter where I checked the mail.
I tried deleting and creating the email again on my phone, and it didn't work.
Here some info that could help find a solution:
    - I'm using icloud email (@me.com)
    MacBook
    -Mountain Lion
    iPhone:
    - iOS 6 (this problem started before the upgrade)
    - Push is on.
    - Fetch (that suppodselly would be used only if push is off) is set to Manually.
    - On the "Advanced" sub-menu inside the Mail settings, Push is also selected.
Hopefully this can actually be fix and I can prove myself that I was not crazy!!
Thanks in advance for the help!!

Anyone find a fix for this problem? I've been waiting for this since notification syncing was announced a couple years ago with iOS 6. I use iCloud for my email and find it very frustrating that when I read an email on my Mac or on iCoud.com that it doesn't automatically dismiss the notifications for those emails on my iOS devices until I open the mail app on each iOS device. Notification syncing works great with other apps. With iMessages, for example, when I read a message on my Mac running Yosemite, the notifications disappear on my iOS devices without opening the messages app (badge app icon, home screen notifications and notification center). Why can't they figure this out with email? I remember at my old job, I had an exchange account that properly synced mail notifications between devices, but it has never worked with my iCloud email. I wonder if I am just missing a particular setting or if Apple just blew it here. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

  • Mail on iMac not accessing MS Exchange server but both iPhone and iPad access the same account with no problems.

I have been using an iPhone and iPad to access my work emails via our MS Exchange server for a number of years now with no problems at all.  I recently replaced my home PC with an iMac (first Mac I have owned) but cannot get it to communicate with the exchange server.  I've checked and re-checked the information on the iMac and my iPad - I even deleted the mail account on the iPad and input the details concurrently with setting up on the iMac - but the Mac will not access the exchange server.
I receive the message "The Exchange server "---------------" rejected the password for user "------"  Enter you password again or cancel."  I am using the correct password.  iPad and iPhone are logging on using that password fine.  iMac just ends up repeating this message.
Our IT support at work assure me that there is no reason from their end for it not to work, and reasonably point to it working using the iPhone etc.
I'd be extremely grateful if anyone can provide a solution to this basic, but extremely frustrating, little problem.

iPhone and iPad use a different way of accessing the server.
I don't know the exact details, but we are using Zarafa instead of Exchange and have the same problem:
iPhone and the likes can connect to Zarafas z-push interface, which is some identical interface to the native Exchange interface, while the desktop e-mail application tries to interface with the web front end (via http) of the server.
These are completely different setups and it depends on the actual installation of the server to get this going.
So, you will most likely need different access parameters for the desktop - and the web mail feature has to be enabled on the Exchange server.
In my opinion using the web mail interface is just silly. On the other hand, the native protocol has less features comparedto the web front end, so you are somehow stuck with sins of the past.
    Good luck!

  • Outlook 2011 for mac calendar and iPhone 6 sync

    Dear All,
Actually this is very simple question. But unfortunatelly nobody ( Apple and MS side ) answered me clearly.
So i want to be sure that there is "no way" to synchronize  the Outlook 2011 for Mac "Calendars" with my iPhone6 via iTunes or any other way.
This was possible old iTunes before, but the new iTunes and Yosemite are not give this chance. So why ? what happened ?
Please tell me "clearly" IF there is a way. and please specify one by one.
    Thank you very much.
PS: I am not an exchange user, i am a POP user.

  • Emails deleted in exchange and advanced mailboxes stay on ipad and iPhone

Hi I am having issues with emails that have been deleted from outlook (exchange profile) remaining in the inbox in the iPad and iPhone which is confusing at times.
    Any advIse would be appreciated.
    Karl

You can access an Exchange account and a MobileMe account at the same time with the iPhone's Mail application and with the iPad's Mail application, but over the air syncing for contacts and calendar events with both are kept completely separate on each device. You can view business and personal contacts and calendar events combined or separately, but you can't sync MobileMe contacts and calendar events with your Exchange contacts and calendar events or vice-versa.
If your Mac is running Snow Leopard and accessing the company Exchange account on a personal computer at home is not against company policy and supported, you can access your Exchange account via ActiveSync with the Mail.app on your Mac, which will provide syncing of Exchange contacts with the Address Book and syncing of Exchange calendar events with iCal. Apple licensed ActiveSync from Microsoft for use with the Mail application on the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad, and with the Mail.app, Address Book, and iCal with Snow Leopard and beyond.

  • Is there a way to sync my saved user ids and passwords between Mac and iPhone using iCloud?

Is there a way to sync my saved user ids and passwords in Safari between Mac and iPhone using iCloud? Like I can do using Chrome for Mac and iOS...

You three would do better to sync to google directly.  Google has a blackberry app that will allow you to sync your contacts and calendars.  The app isn't perfect, but it works reasonably well, especially if you're just using one calendar to sync.
Then there's plenty of ways to sync those to your iPad using Google, including Exchange, or simply adding it as a google account.
As for iCloud, there really isn't any supported or unsupported method to do what you're trying to do, at least at this time.  If there is, it would definitely be a hack and I would be wary of risking your contact or calendar data on it..

  • New iCloud setup with Mac and iPhone

I just setup iCloud for both my Mac and iPhone and still my gmail does not update between the two.  I used the setup for both as shown on the Apple site.  I thought this was supposed to be easy.  Any ideas as to what I might be missing?

I would have thought that the Apple products would deconflict the message traffic from the email accounts, via iCloud.
I'm afraid you thought wrong. Modern email accounts do not work like that. Email messages, and the status of those messages is stored on the email server. If you setup the same IMAP account on numerous devices, the email is stored on the server and each email client reads the status of the messages from the server. Keeping things "in sync" is a function of the email server, not the email client.
I was under the assumption they were innovative enough to think about using their own products to help users manage ALL email, through Mail and iCloud, on several devices.
Since Apple do not have control over Google's mail servers (or anyone else's, apart from their own), it is not technically possible for them to do what you are asking. Creating a whole new, Apple-only proprietary email protocol would not be innovative at all, when the IMAP email standard already exists and is used everywhere.
As already mentioned, if you want to keep a Google Mail account in sync across multiple devices and computers, you use the facilities that Google provides for doing so i.e. their IMAP (or Exchange) email servers.
If you want to keep an Apple iCloud (@me.com) email account in sync across multiple devices and computers, you use the facilities that Apple provides for doing so i.e the iCloud IMAP email server.
Same applies to Hotmail email accounts, or Yahoo! Email account. Email clients do not keep email in sync - the server does.

  • ICal syncing with mac and iphone problem - duplicating all alarms.

I have a mobile me account linked to my office mac, my home mac and my iPhone and my wife's iphone. I have been using this to sync all my contacts and calendar for 18 months with no problems until just after christmas. It suddenly duplicated all my contacts and all my iCal alarms. To solve it I had to use time machine to take my ical and address book back a few days and then force everything to update from that machine.
This I thought solved it but now three weeks later it has duplicated all my alarms again. Why is this happening and how do I stop it? It does not inspire confidence in this system if it randomly changes things. How do I know it will not suddenly delete something? It is also very frustrating and time consuming to reset all the data back a few days.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

The synchronization between iCal, MobileMe, and iPhone is one of the biggest embarrassments and disgraces Apple has yet to deal with.
For over a year, I have been battling duplicates with little success. Add to all this MS Entourage, which I had to install last year because Mac Mail doesn't play nicely with Exchange server. (My company uses Exchange for our mail, etc.) To be clear, the duplicate problem existed prior to the addition of Entourage 2008. So you are out of luck, Koolaide Fans; you can't point the finger at MS in this case.
After 6 months of struggling and fighting with Entourage (and because there is no native version of MS Project or Visio for Mac) I finally had to install VM Ware with Windows 7, MS Office 2007, Visio, Project, etc. The MS apps work perfectly under the Windows 7 session. So, I my functionality for business has been restored. However, I am left wondering why I have a Mac if it can't provide me the functionality I need for such basic things as Email, calendars, contacts, and tasks. I am to the point where I am basically doing everything in the VMWare session under Windows.
I am very pleased with my Mac's ability to do video editing, graphics, and sound using Adobe products. But again, I work in mainstream corporate America where 90% of the marketshare is still PC/Windows.
In the end, I am hoping someone from Apple can come forward soon and say "This is EXACTLY how you need to configure your Entourage/iCal/MobileMe/iPhone so that you aren't crippled by duplicates and other nonsense...." It really is ridiculous.

You would need to ask that directly to Apple. Apple is not here nor does Apple answer questions here.
To return an iOS product requires a valid receipt. You have 30 days to return an iPhone. The iPhone must have all original packaging & accessories and be in new condition. Apple may charge a restocking fee on a returned iPhone.
If the iPhone was bought from a 3rd party, their regulations for returns would apply.
