Exchange Server problem with Tiger's Mail

I've run into a Mail problem as I'm switching over from 10.3.9 to 10.4.5. I've currently got the two systems running on different partitions on my G4 PowerBook. Everything works fine in 10.3.9. But when using the same settings in 10.4.5 I get the error:
"The server error encountered was: The server "xxxxx-exchange" refused to allow a connection on port 143."
But I'm using port 143 in the Mail app in 10.3.9. What could have changed?
My IT people are of no help, because they want us to use only the web interface and keep all messages on the server. Did anything change between Mail 1.3.11 and Mail 2.0 that would prevent the same setttings from working on the same mail server? I can bounce back to the 10.3.9 partition and mail works fine.

I asked this very thing here and got no answer, but it's good to see that it's not just me. I had Tiger Mail working for a few days. Then our IS dept. did some security updates to the Exchange server and that's when everything died. I get the same error you're getting, and I'm in the same boat as our IS people simply don't understand Macs enough to be of any help.
Anyone out there have any ideas? I've had to resort to installing and using Entourage which works but is a piece of junk. I'd be happy to go back to Mail if it would work.

  • and Exchange Server Problems?

I am an Apple Mail user and my university just switched to an Exchange Server 2003 for student e-mail. The university is only supporting Entourage, but I have configured Mail to work with Exchange without any major problem. This week, I have noticed that I have a problem where will say that I have four new e-mails in my Exchange in-box. When I click on my Exchange in-box, no new e-mail appears. After experiencing this problem for about a week, I finally logged onto our Exchange web access site for the university. I discovered that I did indeed have four new e-mails in my in-box, but these e-mails were not showing up in Interestingly, all of the e-mails were undeliverable e-mails that had popped back because I had the wrong address. I am wondering why these e-mails would show up in on web access, but not show up in
I have spoken with our university tech. support numerous times and they have been unable to figure out the problem. It seems this may be a isse as opposed to an Exchange problem.

I use Exchange at work and have 5 Macs working with it w/o problems. The trick is to correctly specify SMPT and Outlook Web Access Server.
    Do the following:
When you create a new mail account, choose IMAP or Exchange (if it shows on the list)
for Email Address specify your exchange email address
for Incoming Mail Server: use name of the server without any prefixes such as mail. (The example shown under the box is wrong. It took me forever to figure it out)
for username and password use the same one you use when log in into exchange webmail
for outgoing email server use the name of the server, again without smtp.
you may need to use authentification in order to send mail. In that case use the same user and password as when you log into your exchange
I was doing it as I was writing this to make sure it workes. It does.

  • Problems sending mail: some problem with the outgoing mail server SMTP?

I can't send e mails: some problem with the outgoing mail server SMTP?

I had this same problem with both my imac and mac book pro using hotmail via mac mail with bt as my internet provider. Suddenly 4 months ago out of nowhere i could receive emails but could not send them. I scoured all the threads followed all the fixes none of them worked. However I just phoned apple support and fixed it in a matter of minutes. I am SO happy. This is what the technician advised me:
Go to your apple icon and scroll down to system preferences. Then dependant on what machine you have it is different for my imac and mac book pro click on either air port/wifi then the advanced tab in the bottom right hand corner. Then click on the DNS tab. Hit the + sign on the left hand side and type in then hit the + sign again on the left hand side it will create a new line underneathe and type then hit okay on the bottom right and then hit apply, again on the bottom right. Then send a test email to check but it should be fixed.
Had to share this. Its been driving me mad for months.

  • Exchange Server 2013 does not deliver mail as they arive.

I need Help and guidance on this problem. I have installed Exchange server 2013 with SP1 on Server 2012. Install Went perfect no error. It on a server with 2 TB storage. 16G
memory. Exchange 2013 is the only application running on the box. DNS service is also running on the box. I can see the mail arrive in the mail Box Queue with the Queue Viewer and they would just sit there and then after a 15 to 30 min delay it release the
mail to the mail boxes. The only error or warning I am seeing in the logs are the 6002 warning. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Please share message header of one of the delayed message. It will help to narrow down the issue.
Do you see any connection failures in connectivity logs.
Do you have multiple 2013 servers in your exchange environment ?
    Lets fix it.

  • Problems with AOL e-mail and Droid Charge

Problems with AOL e-mail and Droid Charge
After setting up my AOL email account on my Charge, it has been syncing new messages ok, but I've been having other problems:
    - Syncing AOL mail: I have the Charge set to sync 50 emails (set up the same way as my Comcast Account) but the AOL account pulls up the last 50 old emails and delivers them to the phone. (Comcast does not do this). If I delete these old messages, it just pulls up the same amount of even older mail. Very frustrating. Because of the 2nd problem below, some of these messages were actually deleted on my AOL account before I realized what was happening. It seems I have to just keep 50 old mails on my Charge to prevent this from happening. Any ideas?
    - Second problem (kinda related) Deleting Old Mail: When I delete AOL emails I have read on the Charge, they are also deleted from my 'old mail' folder on AOL and sent to deleted mail. This is not how it worked on my BB Storm2. After deleting them with the Storm, the AOL mail would show them as read and put them in 'old mail' unless I told the Storm to delete them from the server. I cannot find any "choice" option on the Charge. I hate this because the "deleted mail" folder on AOL dumps its contents much more quickly than the "old mail" folder. How do I stop this from happening?
FYI, both Comcast and g-mail are working as they should.....

    Dear Richs10,
As to the second problem, I have seen this before in other threads. The only solution I can come up with is to delete the AOL account and set it up on the phone from scratch. The reason for this is that the ONLY time you are able to see the option for leaving email on the server (or removing them) after reading on the phone is during the account setup process. After the account is set up, there seems to be no way to access this setting again. Kind of dumb, IMHO, but that seems to be the case.
If you need step-by-step walkthrough of the account setup, PM me.

  • Mcafee site advisor add on caused problems with my yahoo mail..ahd to disable, but need the mcafee for security..what to do?

all of a sudden i had problems with my yahoo mail..messages and such would not load..tried everything..clearing cache, restart comp etc...nothing..then someone suggested i disable add ons..could only think of McAfee site adviser as the soon as i changed that add on to "ask to activate" it seemed to get rid of the problem and i was able to see my messages..but i want the site adviser so how do i fix this problem??

I haven't heard about this conflict before. If your McAfee software is as up-to-date as possible, you might check their forums to see whether it is a known issue.
Meanwhile, since you mentioned Yahoo! mail... As you know, Yahoo has made lots of changes in its mail, including changing servers. While old bookmarks and home page addresses should be redirected to the correct server, this is not happening consistently.
To make sure you are using the latest server for your account, try accessing your mail through one of these pages:

  • List of Problems with new Web Mail

List of Problems with NEW Web Mail :
    - At first doesn't open full page message list or retain full page as default setting, have to drag down bar
    - Only shows 20 message lines after “pulling down” the divider, screen partially empty until I scroll down.  It should show at least 26, preferably all available
    - After moving bar, bar moves back up after going back to inbox (not delete message) after reading a message, have to move it down again, and again...
    - Doesn't go to next message when delete message on screen is selected, no setting option for default to do this.
    - There is a drop down to select which folder to move a selected email to.  The initial display shows 7 usable choices, with the usual slider and arrow to show more choices.  The space on the slider clearly shows more choices are present (actually about 20 or so are there), but any attempt to use the slider or arrow to see more choices causes the drop-down to instantly disappear.  I can't move the selected field with arrow keys either.  I can select any of the visible 7 choices, and move an email to only one of the 7.  NOTE: This one works in both IE and Firefox, but if Verizon Webmail was fully web standard (see compliant it would also work in my preferred browser, Mozilla Seamonkey, the direct descendant of the original Mozilla browser.  Webmail should be FULLY web standard.
    - Occasionally a message will move from inbox to trash, without NO indication or command to move them.
    - Emails occasionally flash an error message and simply disappear - not to trash or other findable place, just disappear.  No time to read the error message either.
    - No way to set a whitelist for supposed spam emails, unless the whitelist for “Blocking” is the same.  Very unclear.
    - How can I switch my service back to the original, basic, email which works ok?  I know it’s still there, since some of my other accounts still access it!!!
This seems my only way of getting this info direclty to the programming staff.  If it doesn't actually do this, will SOMEONE PLEASE FORWARD THIS MESSAGE TO THEM !?!

Contrarily, it is Verizon's, as well as other companies like Verizon whose customer base uses a wide variety of web browsers, web page designers' responsibility to use only standard W3C-recognized code and not to use non-standard non-W3C-recognized code, e.g., Microsoft's Internet Explorer specific code, when designing their web pages. In my opinion based on my observations, Verizon's web page designers are too often guilty of using IE-specific code.

  • How To Setup A Local Exchange Server Integrated With Office365 For A Single Mailbox

We recently migrated to Office365 but had an issue since we need more than 16 simultaneous connections to a single mailbox. Because of this, we need to deploy a local Exchange Server that will be used to host a single mailbox that requires up to 500 simultaneous
connections for a Contact Center application. I'm looking for information on how to setup the local Exchange Server to basically create a local instance of a mailbox hosted on Office 365. So we can have our application open the numerous simultaneous connections

    can anybody help?

    Hi Payel,
    Pls check the links below..
    <a href="">Link</a>
Note : As specified in the document,  only the following versions of Microsoft Exchange server are supported:
    &#9679;     Exchange Server 2000
    &#9679;     Exchange Server 2003

We need to integrate MS Exchange server 2007 with our oracle portal so that a user can view his/her mailbox, calendar and to-do list
in the portal page.I can't find any such provider for exchange 2007.Is there any work around to implement this?

Here is one link that might be useful.
Also, I think Exchange 2007 might support web services and that would probably be a better solution than web dav. We are stuck on Exchange 2003 and so have to use the web dav bit.

  • Exchange Server 2010 with SP3 Management Tools

Recently I have installed brand new Exchange Server 2010 with SP1 in my test domain. Afterwards I upgraded it to Exchange Server 2010 with SP3. On client machine (Windows 7 Pro with SP1 x64) I run setup.exe for Exchange Server 2010 with SP1 installation
DVD to install Management Tools. All checks passed successfully but after installation was completed there was an error in EMC:
The World Wide Web Publishing Service (W3SVC) isn't running on any Exchange servers in the site.  If you want to connect to Remote Powershell, this service must be running.  Make sure that the W3SVC is running on at least one Exchange server.
Of course service is running. I read this has something to do with different versions of Exchange Server itself and Management Tools. Since there is no installation of Exchange Server 2010 with SP3 how to solve this? I assume if I have installation of Exchange
Server 2010 with slipstreamed Service Pack 3, management tools installed from this installation would work.
Also does this mean that, if I have working tools for Exchange Server and SP for it is installed later, tools will stop functioning?

I would install SP3 on all servers and workstation as SP1 and SP2 aren't supported anymore and see how it is behaving...

  • Exchange server name not changing in mail profile after migration from 2010 to 2013

Following a migration from 2010 to 2013 we are finding that for a number of users the old exchange server address stays in the mail profile (control panel -> mail -> e-mail accounts) which causes Outlook not to load.
We are able to go into control panel -> mail -> e-mail accounts and change this manually to the new exchange 2013 server address but we have quite a number of users and don't really want to do it manually.
Shouldn't it be updating automatically and if so why is it?

Yes, it should be changed by autodiscover. Does this issue occur to all the migrated users?
I have seen this kind of issues before when migrating from Exchange 2003/2007 to Exchange 2010. The most efficient way is to rebuild the Outlook profile.
