EXE I built unable to open reference to VI with MathScript Node in it
Hi Everyone,
First off, I'm using Labview 8.5 on Windows XP.
I have two VIs. One called "Main Instance.vi" and the other is called "code.vi". The Main Instance vi is very simple. It opens a reference to code.vi. Using this reference, it dynamically calls code.vi using the "Call by Reference" node.
The code.vi is also fairly simple. On this VI's connector pane, I have two inputs "a" and "b" and one output "c". All are of double data type. These controls are wired to a MathScript Node where the code inside is simply:
c = a + b;
So the idea here is that I am using the Main Instance VI to dynamically call and pass two numbers to code.vi. code.vi adds these two numbers via MathScript and returns the answer back to the Main Instance VI.
This all works fine and dandy within LabView. However, when I build Main Instance.VI as an application, I am no longer able to open a reference to my code.vi because it has a MathScript Node in it. I put error indicators on the front panel of Main Instance VI to monitor the Open reference and Call by Refernce nodes. As VIs running in Labview, I get no errors and everything works fine ("a" and "b" are added and "c" is the correct answer). When Main Instance is an exe I get errors 1003 for the open reference function.
I have attached screenshots of the Vis as well as the VIs themselves.
Any guidance is appreciated. Keep in mind that I have to use Labview 8.5 as this is just an example of a bigger problem that is occuring in our software while developing a solution for a customer. Right now our software is compiled in Labview 8.5.

Hello,
As you may know, MathScript is implemented on top of LabVIEW. Consequently, there are various VIs and controls from LabVIEW's vi.lib directory that are needed for a MathScript VI to run. A built application can run on a computer that does not have LabVIEW installed. The LabVIEW Run-Time Engine provides support for LabVIEW's primitives, but any functionality implemented in a VI must be included in the built application. Otherwise, the application cannot find those support VIs.
Basically, the problem is that in trying to run your MathScript VI, you are only giving the application the top-level VI and none of the subVIs. A way that will likely work around this is to build a source distribution with your MathScript VI. Create a project with your VI in it. Create a new source distribution build specification in the normal manner. (I don't have LabVIEW 8.5 installed at the moment, but these are instructions for 8.6) In the "Additional Exclusions" section, uncheck the "Exclude files from vi.lib" setting. This should pull in all the subVIs you need to run the VI. Then, open your top-level VI from your built application.

Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click the following line to select it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):

Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.

Unable to open Livecycle forms even with latest plug-ins
Hi guys,
I have a created a few dynamic forms designed using livecycle designer ES..In order for my users to open these forms, they need to have atleast Adobe acrobat / reader version 8.1 or higher to view these dynamic files. However, quite a few of my users are saying that they are still unable to open these forms directly from their browser although they have downloaded the latest Acrobat X version and the browser plug-ins in their computer. It happens to both windows and mac computers. But they are able to download these files and open it directly from their adobe reader though. It happens with all browsers for them...some of them have even called up mac support as well as adobe support and they were advised that it could be a problem with my forms that I find hard to believe since it opens in my computer and opens for a lot of other users. Its only a few users still having difficulties and I can't understand why!
Also, I recently uploaded a dynamic file in acrobat file sharing. Why am I getting the below message when I have the latest adobe installed? I am able to open other dynamic forms in my browsers..why does this happen? I wonder if other user's problem is similar to this...not sure...
To view the full contents of this document, you need a later version of the PDF viewer. You can upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader from etc...etc...etc..
What can be the problem when the adobe version is already updated and also the plug-ins are updated too?? I have read a lot of links in adobe site itself which suggest various methods to test out the forms, browsers, plug-ins, etc..but this problem still happens to some users even after trying out these troubleshoots. Can someone explain if there are other limitations or solution for these users?I don't have an answer. However, since your question is not about Acrobat forms, but Designer forms, you need to ask in the LiveCycle forum that deals with Desginer forms.

Unable to open Captivate v5.5 with Windows 7
A colleagure created a project using Captivate v5.5 / Win XP.
Now she is trying to open it with Captivate v5.5 but with newly installed Win 7.
After clicking on the file to open it, the progress bar stops at 30% and nothing else happens.
The project does not open.
Does anyone know why this might be and how to overcome the problem?
I am on v5.5 / Win XP and it opened OK for me.
NoelOK here is what we have and still we have no luck.
My colleague had a laptop with Captivate v5.5 and Win XP. Everything was working just fine.
She just had Win 7 installed and is unable to open the project.
After checking - she had Admin rights and she is trying to open the project from within Captivate, and still no joy.
I sent her one of my v5.5 files, still she cannot open it.
Not being a technical person you must excuse what may seem a dumb statement but could it be that newly installed Win7 is drawing more resources (or other techinal bits) from her laptop than Wix XP did, and as a result Captivate v5.5 can no longer run correctly?
Does she need to take her lap top to IT and get them to ensure she has extra "oomph" to run Captivate now she has Win 7?

i am unable to open pdf documents with firefox . i have installed latest version of adobe reader for firefox but still i am having problem. older versions of mozilla do not have this problem
Try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] If it functions correctly, then one of your add-ons is the culprit.

Unable to open Clock or Settings with SIM in...
Ever since trying to flash out the firmware (Green+*+3) and getting the proverbial "Phone unable to start..." error on subsequent boot I am unable to open neither my clock nor the settings preference on my e61i with the SIM in.
If I take the SIM out I can open both the settings and the clock.
I have tried upgrading the firmware (was already the latest but just refreshing it), hard reset, soft reset... you name it... everything I could find in this forum just does not work.
Any idea how I can get all my features back? Kind of a pain to have to pull the SIM out to edit my SIP settings.

1.0633.22.05Just when I though things were back to normal, I am back in no settings land, unless I go off line.
Also, thinking a full firmware refresh would take care of it I follow the instructions only to find myself with a "Unable to start... Please see the manufacturer" error after the firmware was Updater verified that the firmware was successfully loaded.
Of course being in the states (yes, I have bought the phone in EU, people travel Nokia) I am now told the problem has to do with the somewhat unusual time change and since that phone is not for US market I am screwed.

Unable to open HTML documents saved with Firefox 3.0.6
After downloading complete web pages using Firefox, I am unable to open the html document using Firefox in Linux (it is no problem with Opera). I consistently receive this Firefox error message:
File Not Found

Unable to Open InDesign CC files with InDesign 6
I've upraged InDesign 6 to the 8,02 level and still unable to Open INDesign CC files (which were upgraded to CC8). Is there a solution? An upgrade to IND6?
This is only an option if you actually have access to CC. I ended up installing CC on my machine along with CS6 when we started receiving CC files from our customers. Until I did that I had to call clients and ask them to resave their files to IDML and resend them.
As far as I know there is no way to upgrade CS6 to a point that you can open CC files with it. -
Unable to open links in emails with FireFox and Outlook Express 07.
Seems to be a javascript error. When it is disabled, links will open. But other problems appear on browser.
Have reset default programs.
Win IE will open links. [ctrl + click] will sometimes open a new window with link. Usually, only the browser window opens with no link showing.

Unable to open -- because a document with that type is not found
Well, i have an italian mac os x based so the program names and the message are reported "as is" in italian language
My friend Giovanni ask me to solve a puzzle, all the images on a usb key cannot open with Anteprima (the program name in italian). But the thumbnails are ok, and also photoshop open all with no trouble. Usual jpeg images, not cmyk or app masked as image.
In italian the message is that
Impossibile aprire il documento "001.JPG" perché non c'è un documento di quel tipo.
So, the problem was out-of-there, in the Volume names: ETERNITÀ (means eternity in italian) who contains an accented letter À from pc. When i change it's volume name in ETERNITA (no accented letter), all gone ok. Anteprima open all images with no warning.
BUT ALSO WHEN I RENAME THE USB KEYBOARD in mac writing À as Alt+9 A, Anteprima now open all images with no warningAnother sample program that triggers this bug is:

I have tried the option + command button while opening iPhoto but this has not helped.
Your next step would be tp try rebuild with iPhoto Library Manager and its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. -
Unable to open a protected PDF with Adobe Reader

I'm trying to understand how LC Righs Management works. So what i'm doing is following:
1. Protecting a PDF with a specific preconfigured right in my policy server by using Acrobat Pro.
2. Trying to open same fine in Adobe Reader gives me "An error occured while performing thsi operation. Contact an Administrator if this proplem continues".
Same file can be opend in acrobat pro without any problems.
My certificate is installed. (port is 8443)
Any ideas why ADobe Reader faisl to read a protected PDF?

Yes, SSL is trusted. If it's not strusted, i getting a different message from teh ADobe Reader which actually is reffering to the SSL problem.
Also if SSL is not trusted, file can't be opend in Acrobat Pro. IN my case, file can be opened in ACrobat X Pro but not in Adobe Reader.
Maybe i can check for some log files on the server side for this? (or client if there are any?)

Unable to open a new page with transparent background.
I must have hit something (or maybe several things), because suddenly I can't open a new page in Photoshop (CS2). I can see it's picking up the white background color (from the lower left corner of the tool menu), but I can't figure out how to change it. Also noticed that my camera is suddenly automatically savings pix as jpgs (instead of tiffs) which I think I read somewhere prevents removing the white background color . . . but even if I start by trying to create an empty transparent background and pasting my graphic into it (which is what I usually do), it still loads as a white one.
After fighting with the software for the past 2 hours, maybe I'm just too confused to see the obvious. I do know how to get a transparent background when all is running smoothly. (Have been doing it for years, without running into problems.) It's figurng out what the problem is tonight that has me running in circles. The answer probably is staring me in the face, but if it is, I can't see it. I need help . . . PLEASE!Yes. When I select all and edit/clear the screen stays white.
Unfortuantely, it alsois not allowing me to grab a screen shot. I've tried both keystrokes and "Grab" (in Application Utilities.)
But the image in the layers panel is easy to describe.
1) When I open a new PS document and click on transparent, the icon is a small rectangle with a double line border that has a white space midway on each side.
Whether it is active or hidden, the box next to it just says "layer 1" (i.e., not background.
In this mode, the Transparency & Gamut settings show the following:
Grid Size Medium
Grid Colors Light
Below that are 2 empty boxes
In the bottom section, Gamut Warning shows a darkened out Square. A both ends of the Opacity bar (1% and 100%) it remains unchanged.
When I add an image, it does not add a layer. The icon just changes to a thumbnail of the image.
If I don't change them, the Transparency & Gamut pane remains unchanged.
point, I'm running out of time, so would switch to that other Adobe Application (with fewer options and tools, which came on the same disk as another Adobe graphic program ), but can't search for it on my computer because I don't remember it's name. But since it's not in the application folder, if it was not compatible with System 10, I may have removed it. By any chance do you know which application I'm referring to? -
Unable to open Captivate 4 file with Captivate 3
As the title suggests, I created a project in Captivate 4 and would to edit the project in Captivate 3. When I try to open it, I get the error message, "Adobe Captivate could not open "project.cp" because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged..."
Are these files not backwards compatible, even from Captivate 4 to 3? Anything else I should consider?
(I created the project using a 64-bit version of Windows 7 , if that's a factor. I tried opening the file on another machine running Win XP, but got the same error.)Hi there
Unfortunately Captivate projects are only forward compatible. And even that will have limits.
Your best bet is to have both versions installed on the same PC. Then create a new, blank project in Captivate 3 that is sized identically to the one in 4. Then perform a copy/paste to move the content from 4 to 3.
Note that any buttons or click boxes will likely need re-linking and you cannot expect things that are "4 specific" to work in 3 any longer. (Widgets, Advanced Actions and the like)
