Executing perl/c modules from java appln

Hi,
I need to integrate some modules written in Perl/C/C++ , which take a filename as input and stores the ouput in a file. I need to provide the interface in Java. Plz let me know how to execute perl or c++ file with input parameters.

I have one severe problem regarding calling perl modules from java
I had to call two perl modules simultaneously (i.e.) from two threads,,, but jvm crashes when one of the perl calls is exiting earlier
I am unable to spot out why ....
For calling perl from java ...., We are first calling C code from java using JNI and then Perl code from C
All works fine if we call only one perl call at a time.... If we call them in a synchronized manner the JVM is not crashing .... But we don't want blocking..

Anyone know how to execute unix shell script from Java?
Suppose I have several shell scripts written in perl or tcl or bash.
I just want to catch the output of that script.
Is there any ready to use module/object for this?

Hi. There are many other posts in the forums related to executing a unix script from java, but I wanted to post another example that I thought might be helpful...
The key thing to executing the script is to include the -c switch for the sh command. This tells the sh command that you are passing a string to be interpreted as input. Without this switch, the script does not execute as you'd expect it to. Also, use a string array to pass each part of the sh command.
Here is a working sample class, along with a test script to execute it:

CNTL_ERROR while calling a function module from Java webdynpro

I am calling a RFC function module from javawebdynpro app
which inturn calls a function module performing BDC on CAPP transaction. When I run this from SE37 of the same system or a different system everything works fine. But when called from Java webdynpro app, it raises a CNTL_ERROR exception and creates a short dump.
Any help on this is highly appreciated

Good catch, BI Learner. This was exactly it: when assigning the values from SOURCEFIELDS directly to the import/export parameters, you have to make sure that the types are EXACTLY the same, otherwise it will not work (the routine stops with an error when calling the FM, but there is no dump).
Therefore, to solve my problem, I created the declarations precisely as expected by the FM and assigned the values to these fields:

Error while executing unix shell script from java program

I am trying to execute unix shell script from a java program using Runtime.execute() method by passing script name and additional arguments.
Code snippet :

I have a requirement to transfer data from one db to another db from Java Application Layer.Maybe, maye not. We get all sorts of weird "requirements" - which are nothing but thoughts or proposed solutions.
But,
Did the "requirement" mention whether the table existed already or not in the target database? - If not, did it tell you to create it - drop/create it?
Did the "requirement" deliver some explanation to why this copying was neeeded? - Are we talking replication? - Or a one time cloning?
Etc, etc,
Personally I would always argue against a "reuirement" like that. - It just isn't the way to do it. Period.

Execute a function module from sapportal without to create the users in R/3

I have a pdk application in sapportal. This pdk application will be execute for any sapportal users which don't have R/3 users. The problem is the follow.. in this pdk application there is a R/3 function module that must be execute, ¿how can i execute this function module without to create the users in R/3?

Create a JSP dyn page application. Hope you have the table name and in R/3 there will be Function modules already available which we also can reffer.
Then from this JSP dyn page application, call this particular function table.
wE DON'T have to create a user for this.

Executing a dos command from java in windows nt

i need to execute the
" net send"
command from the command line in windows nt, from within my java program... is there any way that i can execute cmommands in the dos command shell? or rather, does anybody know a way i can send a message ( in windows ) from java, from one computer to another over the lan?? I cannot have a java programming running on all the other computers, so i cannot make my program serve, it must just send the messges using a lan command....
(the net send command just sends a message in the form of a pop up box on the receiver's screeen)

I've a problem It's very single for you: this consists in execute a command from java
in this case the command is : runas but I've tried nd is good but I can´t include the password.
This is due to the sintaxis is :
runas /user:127.0.0.1\Administrator cmd
The first command is execute but.. the problem is it show the input for the password.
And the password is not let including in the command line
How can I do that? Please help me is very urgent.

I wish to open a file for writing from Java on Siemens XT75 module flash file system. This should be possible.
The only class I can find for this is
com.siemens.icm.io.File
which is deprecated, so I'd like to aviod it if possible in any way...
Any ideas? I couldn't find anything useful, please help.

To run any command from java code, the method is
Runtime.getRuntime().exec( myCommandString )
Where, myCommandString is something like "/full/pathname/command".
If the pathname contains spaces, e.g. "c:\program files\windows\notepad", then enclose it in quotes within the quoted string. Or pre-tokenize them into elements of an array and call exec(String[] cmd) instead of exec(String cmd).
From JDK1.3 there are two new overloaded Runtime.exec() methods. These allow you to specify starting directory for the child process.
Note, there is a gotcha associated with reading output from commands. When the runtime exec's the process, it passes to it 3 streams, for stdin, stdout, and stderr; the out and err are buffered but the buffer size isn't very big. When your process runs, it reads (if needed) from in, and writes to out and err.
If it doesn't write more than the buffer-size, it can run to completion.
But if it tries to write more data to one or the other stream than the buffer can hold, the write blocks, and your process hangs, waiting for you to empty the buffer so it can write some more.
So after the exec call, get the streams, and read from them in a loop until they both hit end-of-stream (don't block on either one, just read whatever is available from each, each loop iteration).
Then when the streams have ended, call the process.waitFor() method to let it finish dying.
Now, here is a code snippet how you achieve this.
