Exit in ios using flash CS6

Hi,
I am using flash CS6 to create an iPad application. I want to exit the app when user click on home button. Is there any way to do it programatically?
I have published the ipa file. Then change the extenstion to zip. Open the "application.xml"which is in the AIR folder.
The previous code in the xml was:
<iPhone>
<InfoAdditions>
<![CDATA[<key>UIDeviceFamily</key><array><string>2</string></array>]]>
</InfoAdditions>
<requestedDisplayResolution>standard</requestedDisplayResolution>
</iPhone>
I have changed it to the:
<iPhone>
<InfoAdditions>
<![CDATA[<key>UIDeviceFamily</key><array><string>2</string></array><key>UIApplicationExitsOnSuspend</key> <true/>]]>
</InfoAdditions>
<requestedDisplayResolution>standard</requestedDisplayResolution>
</iPhone>
Save the file.
Again convert extension from zip to ipa and tried to installed it on iPad.
But, now the application failed to installed.
Could any one tell me what may be wrong here?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Swapnil

Could you please try to 1st add the tag and then package the IPA.

• Create a Multiplayer game for Android/iOS using flash?

Hi guys,
We're creating a flash - turn based game for iphone and android using flash builider (flex) and actionscript 3. We've built the game and have a working Ai and are now trying to figure out how we can provide multiplayer support on iOS and Android.
As far as Im aware there are the following options:
- Serversocket (although apparently this doesnt work with mobiles.
- p2p with native air plugin (although I understand that this requires a database as well as the build of a front end connect to players)
- apparently there is a new way with html - whereby two players can exchange data over a website without the need for a server.
- Third party package like appwarp?
This is driving me crazy as I understand the principle - i.e. send data from one mobile to a database - database fires message to opposing player - updates state of game on both mobile and on the server.
All we want is a turn based game that sends a simple string of code with the moves between two devices. Is there any way of doing this for mobile (Android and ios) using flash and actionscript 3, or flash builder - without using a database?
Can anyone recommend a straight forward way to do this?
If not - Im actually thinking of taking the finished game to a company and asking them to host the servers and port the game to android and ios for a cut of the royalties. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks for you help on advance,
T.

Hi Aaron,
Thanks for you kind response.
Do you know how to use air 3.8 to create multiplayer for iOS android? It's frustrating, it's a basic turn based game so all we really need is to send 1 line of code containing a move between two devices which then changes the graphics. I've done something like this before using a MySQL server.
I have a MySQL service on my hosting package for my domain, not sure whether I could use this?
As far as I'm aware theres now an option in HTML 5 to do thus kind of thing without a server and swap data directly through a web address.
Do you know roughly how much a small server costs to run?
We're basically trying to get this on ios, android and desktop mac and pc. We also want to launch it through steam nd allow people to play each other via the steam network. Do you know or know anyone that knows about this kind of stuff?
Thanks again, for your email. Where are you based?
Tom.

• Starling help using flash cs6

all I'm trying to do is convert some animations to spritesheets..
converting and making spritesheets is covered extencivly by adobe tutorials and pretty much everywhere I look. using them in actionscript and getting them running is another story..
I've picked starling as the data format to export my spritesheet. mainly because it was a new addition to cs6 and i hear it is vary optomized for android and ios
im trying to follow various tutorials done on flashbuilder but i cant even import starling elements, it seams cs6 and adobe air 3.3 did not come with starling, so im at a loss of how to install and use starling for adobe flash cs6 any of the tuts for getting it to run, even on starlings site are for cs5.5, a year out of date and i have to downgrade certain elements to get it installed on cs6..
why is it this dificult to get this working

Please refer the tutorials here, you will get a fare idea how starling is working

• 3D content for iOS using Flash Builder? Possible?

Hi,
Is it possible to use Papervision or Away 3D using Flash Builder 4.6 and compile this succesfully for iOS?
I have previously had lots of fun with Papervision and I am just wondering if it is possible to create 3D interface content for iOS and/or Android?
HR

I think Away3D (and possibly PaperVision) uses Pixel Bender shaders. They don't work on mobile devices, AFAIK. But Stage3D is supposedly coming to AIR mobile soon. That should blow the socks of any software rendering. I think Away3D will be supporting it.

• Using Flash CS6 from Creative Cloud

Hello,
According to this page:
http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-apps.html
I should be able to install and run Flash CS6 from Creative Cloud, is it correct? But when I open the Creative Cloud app, the option to install a previous version is not there. Please help.

If you only have single subscriptions that might be why. I think you need to have a full Cloud subscription in order to be able to access older applications, not just subscriptions to single applications.

• Problem publishing Air for iOS using Flash

Hey there, I am having a little issue. I am getting a error that reads "The digital certificate is invalid. Counld not retreive certificate chain from keystore usesage"
I think the issue may be that I am trying to develop my app on my PC and publish is and then put the app on my Mac. My assumption is that my iOS developer ID and iPad are registered with my Mac but my CS5 software is on my PC so I have been trying to publish the app on from the PC and then port it to my Mac and get it on the iPad through iTunes. So I wonder if I need to be publishing the app on the Mac where the device and iTunes are. I have the certificate transferred to the PC and use it for my app publish but I get that error on publish.
Any insight is appreciated a lot. Thanks very very much in advance...

I tried overlaying the latest AIR as sinious suggested, but that only changed my error message by adding the line about ADT as in the original post.
I was finally able to get the app to compile by calling adt from the command line. Here is an example .bat file that worked for me:
@echo=off
@set java_cmd="C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe"
@set java_param=-Xmx128m -jar
@set adt_cmd="C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS5.5\AIR2.6\lib\adt.jar"
@set target=ipa-test
@set cert=iOS_dev.p12
@set cert_pass=password
@set provisioning=my_iOS_device.mobileprovision
@set build_file=helloworld.ipa
@set desc_files=helloworld-app.xml
@set files=helloworld.swf AppIconsFolder
%java_cmd% %java_param% %adt_cmd% -package -target %target% -storetype pkcs12 -keystore %cert% -storepass %cert_pass%  -provisioning-profile %provisioning% %build_file% %desc_files% %files%

• Publising times for IOS using Flash CS5.5

I am doing some tests with Flash CS5.5 and AIR 3.0 and literally testing a hello world type app.
It is taking a considerable amount of time to create the ipa file. I timed it and it was about 12 minutes. I have a reasonably good spec PC son wondered if this is the normal amount of time it takes to publish?
Thanks in advance...

Thanks for the reply. That is really strange how the publishing time varies so much. I tested on my Mac and it was about 2.5 minutes - the great thing on the Mac is that it estimates the publishing time and then counts down the time however there was an additional delay once it had reached zero but still way quicker than on the PC for an identical build.

• Debug Air iOS app on device with Flash CS6?

Hi,
Is it possible to debug an Air iOS app on device to get all the trace() messages?
I'm using Flash CS6 with the AIR SDK 16.
Thanks

Go to publish settings:
- Select Quick publishing for device debugging and select your LAN/WIFI adapter IP from the list
- Install IPA to your device
- In Flash CS6 go to Debug panel -> Begin Remote Debug Session > ActionScript 3.0
You will see:
Waiting for Player to connect...
in the output panel
Now launch your application on your device. Be sure that you in the same WiFi network with your desktop. If Flash CS6 can't connect to the device and still waiting for it - try to disable firewall.

• Flash CS6 AIR for iOS

Flash Professional CS6
・Windows 7(32bit)
・AIR SDK:3.5.0.880 for iOS
設定等は特に変えていないのですが、
検証機のiPhone 5(iOS6.1.2)、iPhone 4(6.0.1)へクイックパブリッシュでインストールしようとすると、
"Installation Error: ApplicationVerificationFailed

• Testing Unsupported Native Extensions in Flash CS6

I'm currently working on an iOS application using Flash CS6 Pro targeting the AIR 3.3.0.3560 SDK. In order to compile using the iOS 5.1 SDK (to support retina displays) from Flash CS6 it's necessary to add in a native extension in order to specify the iOS SDK location.
I've add the 'Vibration' native extension (com.adobe.extensions.Vibration.ane) library to my project, and of course supplied the full path to the iOS SDK. Publishing to the device works just fine, but an issue has crept into my everyday workflow as I can no longer test using ADL as I always get the following error via the output window:
"Test Movie terminated.
The content cannot be loaded because there was a problem loading an extension: Error: Requested extension com.adobe.Vibration is not supported for MacOS-x86."
Any ideas how to go about testing apps/movies that use Native Extensions locally using ADL?
Is it a matter of having to create another target for 'MacOS-x86' (or Windows) which is simply used for local testing purposes?
BTW - ideally it would be possible to compile from Flash CS6 using the iOS SDK without having to specify a native extension (if one isn't required), but in the meantime this appears to be a necessary evil.

Hi,
Its probably because the number of warnings in your application is very high and its a known issue that packaging fails in Flash Pro/Flash Builder, if the number of warnings is high.
You may want to suppress the warnings using -w in the platform.xml file and repackage your ANE using the -platformoptions switch. Then, you will be able to package your app in Flash Pro.
If that’s not possible, you may just package your application on command line.
Hope that solves your problem.

• Flash Cs6 incredibly sluggish save time, & unable to save document as

I am using Flash CS6, animating on ones with the brush tool. my timeline is 100 frames long, there arent keyframes on every frame, but there are a lot of them. my .fla file is 79mb.
there is only one thing in my library - a 15 second .wav audio file...
Saving the .fla file takes about 2 1/2 minutes!
after the 2 1/2 minutes I get flashed the "cannot save document as... please try saving with a different name or on a different volume".
contrary to the error message the file does in fact save perfectly fine - in that volume with that name.
what is the deal with the save time being so outrageously long? the program is equally sluggish with copying and pasting keyframes - though thats less of an issue than the save time.
please help me, i can send you the flash file if your willing to look at it.
ps: I tried opening the file in cs5.5 - the save time was slightly faster, but not by much.

Sujai, here’s what I found:
1. The student’s project is 58 mbytes in size. This is mostly because she used the flame deco tool to create a frame-by-frame animation of a rocket.
2. At school students have networked folders. The network is 1 gbit, and the server is in the same building.
3. It took 3 minutes and 40 seconds to save her project. At the end of the Save operation, we got the error message that it didn’t save properly (And, if we have auto-save on, this happens every 10 minutes). . However, the file was properly saved, and could be opened.
So, it appears that Flash has problems saving files of this size, at least in our network. This surprises me, because 50 mbytes is not that big.
I was able to get around this problem by having the student change her flame animation to a movie clip, and Tween the flames. It doesn’t have quite as cool a look as the frame-by-frame, but it’s more efficient (and only 6mbytes in size).
Thoughts? JR

• Flash CS6 Text Disappearing

I have been using Flash CS6 running on a Windows 7 work laptop since January. Not a single problem until last week.
Say I have a text box inside a banner symbol. The text says "WELCOME". Normally you click the symbol to edit in place, click the text box and you get a blinking cursor where you can change the text to "HELLO". You click the stage to back out of the text and the symbol and every thing is good. Now you have a banner that says HELLO.
Here is what I am getting as of last week:
I click the symbol to edit in place. When I get to the level where the text box is located, the text disappears. If I click around eventually it will select the text box containing "WELCOME" but the text box now appears down and to the right of where it actually is. When I double click to edit the text box, the text is now visible and back in the right spot. Once I change it to HELLO and click out of the text box, the text disappears again. If I return to the main stage, the symbol still says "WELCOME" but once I render the new word "HELLO" shows in the SWF.
Ever seen that? Our IT department has jacked with it and can't fix it. I am waiting for someone to come back and re-install Flash to see if that fixes the issue. The only other thing I have noticed is that if I start a new project as AS3, add text directly to the stage, it causes the same problem. But if I start a new project as AS2, it's fine and with no text issues. I can't find anything online about this issue. Wondering if I have an AS3 setting wrong or a corrupt library file.

• Re-install Flash CS6 ?

Hi
I have a problem when I launch Flash Cs6. It doen't run, and I have an error message which says the "PFF.dll" file is missing. I have tried to make an update of the app, but the problem is the same.
I would like ton uninstall Flash Cs6 and reinstall, but how can I do ? Because if I uninstall, I think I will be able to install only Flash CC. But I need only Flash CS6 (to work with an other team which uses Flash CS6). Is it possible to reinstall the complete Flash CS6 version ?
