Expand in column for input schedule

Hi Guru:
We have 2 categories, Best Scenario, Normal Scenario.
In the input schedule, the users want to have it in the below format:
                      Best Scenario                Normal Scenario
Account
So, I created a hierarchy for category, which called All Scenarios, then choose in in CV.
In use EVDRE to put the category in column, SELL ALL.
However, the system says the schedule is wrong.
I achieved it with 2 EVDRE, but I just do not understand, if I put time in the column with a hierarchy node value, 2009.Q1, it will give me 4 columns, why I could not put category in the column to do the same thing?

Hi Eric,
I am sure you would have done it properly, however, would like you to check once again. See in the member sheet that the heirarchy is perfect. Process the dimension and the application once again. In the EVDRE, select the memberset as BAS and in the CV, select all_scenarios.
You can definitely have a hierarchy. Tool will not stop you from doing it. However, I would suggest you not to follow this approach. Instead, you can the expansion only on rows and remove the expansion on columns. In the Column, specify the members you want, explicitly.
Having said these, please try the first approach. If its working fine, you can go ahead. You can think about the second one later, if required.

       Sorry, I didn't understood well your request and I give you wrong information.
    GetOnlyRange is used you only wants only function to behave in read-only mode. All cells defined in this range will only retrieve values from the DB but no entered value will be sent.
    If you want to keep your formula for some cells, you have to exclude those from the expansion range.
    This means in your RowKeyRange section to define something like
    =EVRNG(E14:E16,E18:E38, ...), not a continue range.

    I dont think this can be done.
    In the columns, you can use EVMBR function. The user can select the member. Accordingly, the data cell should fetch the value using EVGTS. However, you need to make sure that your column represents only one dimension. So, you need to use the other dimensions judisiously in the EVGTS function.
    The problem comes now. You cant override the data cell with some other value, because that cell has a formula. If you write some value in that cell, the EVGTS function gets overwritten. And if you cant write value in the cell, then what will you send.
    Hope you got my idea.

  • Chars in columns for Input Ready query

    Hope every body is just doing fine. I am puzzled with following doubt when compare BPS layout builder to IP input ready report. Please help me to clear some smoke here.
    We have a simple input ready query to enter some values in the key figure for given combination of characteristics for 12 fiscal year periods in the year.
    BPS >>> In BPS manual planning layout we would have selected the Key figure and Fiscal Year Period in data column and profit center and Plan Year in Header and Other characteristics like GL account,cost center in lead column so that we can hide the Fiscal year period by restricting the values of key figure for particular fiscal year period value while creating columns in Data columns like Jan 07. etc
    IP>>> So in IP, I have fiscal year period in aggregation level with all other chars and key figure. In input ready report, I have used the structure to pull the key figure and fiscal year period value to come up with column and not included the key figure in rows or columns of report but when I was executing the query system is automatically including the fiscal year period as free char. I am puzzled on how this is going to work. Is fiscal year period not populated automatically based on column.

  • Max file size of input schedule

    Hello experts,
    We are using BPC 7.5 NW sp4
    I've created input schedule and it's size about 6MB. I tried to save this input schedule, but system returns error.
    Currently the biggest file I've managed to save is 2MB
    Does anybody know max allowed size of file for input schedules and reports? And How we can change this parameter

    Hi Evgen,
    BPC doesn't handle upload of large files through the Excel interface very well. If you go into UJFS (in BW) and find the input schedules for your application, you should be able to upload the input schedule through that interface.
    A good way to "compress" reports and input schedules is to delete all data from them before saving. I don't know if this will work in your case, but maybe it's another option.

  • BPC 7.5 Input Schedule in Excel 2010 - Expand time dimension dynamically

    Hi BPC experts,
    My project dimension has two properties, one for startdate and one for enddate of the underlying project. Example: Project XYZ, startdate: 2010.APR, enddate: 2011.JUN
    In my input schedule I need the timespan to expand on month level from 2010.APR up until 2011.JUN. In this case it needs to expand 15 months where each month is displayed per column.
    The issue is that all projects have different start and end dates and the expansion on month level needs to adjust accordingly. There is no maximum project time frame but if it helps I can live with a maximum expansion of for instance max 100 months.
    I have another dimension for time with a hierarchy year - quarter - month (month being the basemember).

  • Retrieve data from a report or database to an input schedule in BPC for exc

    Hi,
    I am using BPC for excel ( v 5.1).
    I've created an Input Schedule(Input-1) using BPC for excel and sent data to the dB.
    I need this (Input-1) data to use it in a new Input Schedule(Input-2), for further manipulation.
    I need this data to be dumped in a sheet for further calculations in (Input-2).
    How can i bring this data?
    I created an input schedule(Input-2) and tried building an evdre in an excel macro to get it as a report of the 1st Input. But i was unsuccessful. I faced an error "ERR: Invaled KeyRange Header".
    Am i thinking in the correct way? Do we 've any other options to retrieve this data?
    Need your help to proceed....
    (Pretty soon, the environment is going to be with version 7.0)

    With Input Schedules in BPC for Excel, is there an easy way to see which cells get uploaded ?, for example, if I open a report written by another person, how can I easily see which cells get upload when MNU_ESUBMIT_REFRESH runs ?.

    HI,
       There is no specific way (something like a menu command). You can define a specific colors or format for the cells(or some formulas which change the format of the cell), but this is related to the input schedule design.

  • Input schedule: Derive key for key range from Dimension member properties

    I'm facing the problem within a input layout. There are three keys in the row key range.
    The first row key is filled by the members of a dimension. The second and third row
    should be filled by the dependencies shown in the dimension members.
    Example:
    Dimension:
    - Order number
    Properties:
    - Client (also implemented as standalone dimension where all required characteristics are maintaned)
    - Costcenter (also implemented as standalone dimension where all required characteristics are maintaned)
    Entries in dimension members of Ordern number:
    Order number, Client, Costcenter:
    1000, 10, 511
    2000, 10, 533
    3000, 12, 511
    4000, 15, 588
    Entries in dimension Members of Client:
    10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20
    Entries in dimension Members of Costcenter:
    511,533,555,588
    My row key range is defined as follows: Exp1: Order number, Exp2: Client, Exp3: Costcenter
    For Planning purposes i need a input schedule that schows only the valid combinations shown above
    in master data of order number. Is this possible or do I have to leverage script logic to use dependencies shown in master data for reporting oder planning purposes !

    Hi Moritz,
    As Nilanjan said, this is not really possible with a basic EVDRE at the moment. Your best bet is probably to either build your own solution using EVEXP, EVGET, and EVSND, or to use an EVDRE based on only the Order # to get the values and an EVSND based on the Order # and the properties of the Order # in the AfterRange of the EVDRE.
    I actually like the second option a lot better (EVDRE with EVSND in the AfterRange) because for larger queries the read performance should be better and it will be more maintainable in the long run.

  • Drop down in the Input Schedule for Dimension

    Hi Friends
    In my input schedule, for the Dimension Entity ( I have 13 entities which i am presently chossing from Current View), i want to put separate Tab for each entity in my input schedule. So that instead of chossing from the current view, they will choose the TAB in the input Schedule.
    And also, for another dimension members, i need to have a drop down ( as we do in excel validation). So instead of choosing the current view for that dimension, user will choose from the drop down from the excel sheet.

    See if we can use EVMBR function, which will Pop up the screen same as when we click the CV only thing is that the Current View will not change.
    We can also use EVCVW is a particular cell same as the way EVMBR, but when we use this EVCVW, the Currrent View will also change fine
    Exactly i am looking for a option where in a particular Input Schedule Cell, there will be a drop down as we do in normal excel validation, .
    My Input Schedule is dynamic in Rows, which reflect the Material.
    I am trying the EVLST, but efforts are in vain.

  • BSP table column not opening for input

    I know very little about BSP but have a problem to fix. We have a BSP which works in 4.6 but not in ECC6. The problem is that when a table line is selected one of the columns is supposed to open for input but is not doing so. In the View the table is defined as selectionmode = "singleselect" and onRowSelection = "MyEventRowSelection" - I'm not sure where to find that event and associated method. Can someone direct me to the likely area of this problem? Thanks.

    To have an editable table, the fields of your table must be bound to a cell editor of type 'Input field'. Check if this is done.
    Then, you should bind the read_only property of each input field to the context attribute. Not the read only of the table. This way, you can bind different columns to different attributes and make selected columns only as editable etc. For each field in your table, you will have a cell editor. Do the binding for each cell editor, i,e each column.

  • Restrict Data Input in an Input Schedule for a particular number of days in a Month

    Hi All,
    I want to restrict data save in Input Schedule for any particular number of days in a month. BRAD will select number of days for the that particular month and data input for that duration should be disabled.
    Duration will be dynamic and will be decided by BRAD.
    Basically this is a requirement of BPF, but I have thought of doing in this manner.

  • BPC 7 MS: Which SQL statements are created for writing with input schedule?

    Hi,
    I wanted to know which SQL statements are created and executed if a user submits values using an Excel input schedule to an application.
    When I check the correspoinding MS SQL server log files, I see that data is read from the three partitions belonging to the application and put into a temporary table, but I can't find anything about writing back to the application (presumably the WB partiton...) in the log.
    There are some cryptic entries in the log file as well, but they are not human-readale... are there any BPC logfiles that could tell me which SQL statements are created and executed to write back the new values to the application? Thanks!

    As far as i know, when a user send data entry from an excel schedule, it will be written in the WB table of the application (for each application, you have 3 Data tables : WB, Fact2 and Fact).
    I presume that the SQL statement may be an INSERT or UPDATE statement.
    Technically, the update is done by the send governor service (hosted on your BPC application server).
    There is no log that will show you the SQL Statement besides a SQL trace that you have to setup in SQL Server 2005 Manager Studio.
    btw, the data are written in the Relationnal database but are read from the OLAP cube. The olap Cube is split in 3 partitions (ROLAP on WB table / and MOLAP on fact and fat2). Wich mean that every new entry in WB will be automatically "updated" in the cube.
    Some DM packages can directly write data in fact2 table. In this case you need to reprocess the cube to get it loaded.

  • How to build dynamic input schedule from version

    Hi experts,
    I want to create an input schedule based on my category selection which will allow users to enter data to budget part but changing the actual part is prohibited.
    For example I have category member which is 2010-09-1. This means I am working on 2010 Budget which has 9 periods of actual and 3 periods of forecast and 2011 Budget. In my input schedule I would have 24 months from 01.2010 to 12.2011 and I will copy actual to budget for the first 9 months but I do not want users to change first 9 months actual data from input schedule.
    What solution can you propose for this in BPC NW ?

    Hi Ergin,
    From the description you have provided, I guess you will have the TIME dimension in the Column. The CATEGORY would be set to 2010-09-1, lets suppose. In this case, the first 9 columns should be locked for any changes. For this, you need to use the Data Validation technique, which is native to Excel.
    select an empty cell, lets say D1. in this cell, you should fetch the value "2010-09" from the version "2010-09-1". If the version is changed to "2010-10-1", the cell D1 will be automatically updated and will show "2010-10". In the column, in the row just above the Time dimension, write a formula to fetch the year and monthnum property of the Time member. Lets say, the time dimension members are displayed in the cells E4 to AB4 (24 columns for 24 months). In the cell E2, you can write the formula, =EVPRO("application name",E$4,"YEAR")&"-"&EVPRO("application Name",E$4,"MonthNum"). This will return 2010-01 in the cell E2 for the member 2010.JAN. Similarly, for 2010.FEB, the cell should display "2010-02". We will keep the formula in E2 only. After the expansion, the formula also will be expanded for the other cells.
    Select the first data cell of the EVDRE report. Open Data Validation. In the Settings Tab, in the Formula field, write =D1>E$2. Then go to the error alert tab and choose the style as stop and give some title and message. This would typically mean that if value of D1 (in this case 2010-09) is not greater than E2 (in this case 2010-01), then the error message will be displayed, when we try to enter values in these cells. And it will not allow to enter any value.
    Once the EVDRE is expanded, this data validation will be copied into all the other data cells. So, in this way, the enter input schedule can be kept dynamic.
