Expanded RSS support

I started playing with Sienna yesterday and quickly ALMOST had an app fully working.
The issues I have:
the audio player can not hide the image (that I could find) - worked around this for now by setting an image to use
the rss data source doesn't support the enclosure tag (looking for this to set the media for the audio player for the template in the custom gallery)
the rss data source doesn't support the itunes rss extensions (would like these to get album art to set image on audio player for each item)
I am really liking this project and think it can easily be useful in many situations. I would love to lend a hand with the rss processing code.
Any ideas if/when RSS source will support enclosure and other tags.
THANKS!

As Workaround you can use the REST-Connector.
Just enter
the RSS URL
into the
Url-Field of the
REST connector
and you will receive
a complex
data source with
all data
of the
RSS feed.
DataSource for ...
e.g. Gallery:
Sort(First(RSS!channel)!channel!item, pubDate!'$text')
e.g. Summary:
'itunes:summary'!'$text'
e.g. Image:
Last('media:thumbnail')!'$attributes'!url
For the Video:
Last(Gallery1!Selected!'media:group'!'media:content')!'$attributes'!url
It's a little more complicated to define the right expressions, but it works fine.

Volker

  • RSS support in OSB 10gR3?

Does the latest version of the ESB support RSS? Can it consume an RSS feed? Can it create an RSS feed? From reading the documentation, it appears this doesn't exist but I'm not sure I'm looking in the right place for it.
    Cheers,
    Scott

    Hi Scott,
Oracle Service Bus does not have out of the box support for RSS as we would typically expect an RSS client to consume the RSS feed and then send a notification to the bus. However, we do have support for XML over HTTP and so it would be easy enough to create an RSS feed from the bus.
It would be interesting to more fully understand your use case, so if you are happy to do so, could you a more detailed description to this discussion?
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • UK RSS Support

I am going to post my experiences thus far, as they may be helpful to some other UK Macbook owners with RSS.
My Macbook started randomly shutting down about 10 days ago. The problem was bad some days (repeated crashes in a short space of time) and on other days the Macbook worked almost normally, with maybe just the odd shutdown. Regardless, it made me frustrated and I needed it fixed.
I rang Apple. I ordered the Macbook in May and it was delivered in early June, so my 90 days of free AppleCare had expired. The guy I rang said he wasn't able to offer any support unless I paid a £35 deposit, refundable if the problem was indeed a hardware fault. Quite frankly, I found this quite patronising as it is clear this is an increasingly known fault. I thanked him for his time and that was the end of the phone call.
The nearest Apple Store is 2 hours drive away. However, having looked here, http://www.apple.com/uk/buy/ I found a shop called KRCS nearby. I rang them and they said they would repair any hardware fault under warrenty and without any deposit nonsense. I took it in yesterday, and true to form, my Macbook shutdown randomly within minutes of the guy in the shop booting it up.
If I don't get the Macbook back within 2 weeks, I get £10 off any Apple product.
Will write the outcome of the service at a later date. Hopefully the reply will be written from my Macbook, and not from my self built XP desktop!

what product do you have or need support with as that alters what or where to contact!

  • Expanded memory support

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me if the N73 or N80 support RS DV-MMC cards? I see they support mini-SD cards now, but given that I've bought a nice big rs dv-mmc for my current nokia I don't want to have to throw it away now I've been offered a new phone.
    Thanks, Ian

There is no way to put an RS-MMC type card (DV or not) into a miniSD slot.
So, sell or donate your old card if/when you get a new phone (with or without your old phone).

  • Is there ever to be .vcs/.ics support?

I get many appointment notifications via email, my business relies on it. With the email is a .vcs (vCal) attachment containing all the relevant information. Also attached is a .vcf (vCard) file with customer contact info.
iPhone Mail app opens imports the .vcF information flawlessly into Contacts with a mere touch of my finger. It has no idea what to do with the .vcS file; all it shows is a question mark. This limitation has been present since the first gen iPhone, and has survived OS upgrades 2, 3, and 4, despite "targeting business users" since OS2, and expanding attachment support in OS4.
Currently I have to go to my desktop, open Outlook (which understands the formats just fine, thank-you-very-much) to import said attachments into the calendar there, then have GoogleSync relay the additions to a Gmail calendar that updates the iPhone.
Changing the .vcs extension to .ics at least gives me an attachment that OS4 will allow me to view, but only as a text file; no option to import the event into Calendar exists. I did stumble across an iPhone app (Calendar Happy) that will convert the .ics to something usable for Calendar (via their servers), but it still requires me to download the .vcs file to my desktop computer, change the extension to .ics, then email it to the iPhone for processing by Happy Calendar; a "workaround" that is much more consuming than using Outlook.
    My questions are these:
-Is there anyone out there with another workaround that eliminates the need for using my desktop computer?
-Is there anyone out there with knowledge that Apple is working on this? Similar threads abound on the Web (google "open .vcs with iPhone" or similar and grasp the enormity of the need)
-Is this a power play/struggle between Apple and Microsoft, similar to the Adobe/Flash broo-ha-ha (which was finally satisfactorily addressed by Jobs himself)?
The iPhone has radically changed the way I do business for the better, and I've long been a user, but this limitation is frustrating beyond words.
    Any help/advice would be welcome.

I'm marking this as answered due to the fact that I've found an acceptable work-around until Apple gets with the program.
In my initial post I mentioned that an app (Calendar Happy) would convert .ics to a usable iPhone-friendly format, but not .vcs. Well, I emailed them and asked that they look at supporting .vcs in addition, since the two files are so similar and widespread. They asked me to forward a sample to work with, and while I was generating one, I got another email from them saying that their service had been updated to accept .vcs, and that an update to the app had been submitted to Apple for approval. Not even 24 hours!!
    Now THAT'S customer service!
    Apple, please take notice.
While this workaround involves forwarding my email to them, then opening the reply attachment with their app, I commend them for devising a thoroughly workable solution to iphone's deficiency. Their reply email takes every bit of 5-10 seconds to come back, making it a virtually immediate event.
Obviously, Apple is not ignoring the .ics/.vcs omission due to hardware/OS limitations, as Calendar Happy proves that the solution is easily attainable. Maybe iOS5 will fix it on the native level. But I don't have to hold my breath anymore.
Thanks to all of you who tried to help.

  • Would like to create an RSS capable feed FROM my website

I have kind of kicked this around in some other parts of the Adobe forums and I am still trying to figure this out on my own BUT I am trying to make it so my website is RSS Reader-friendly. Information on creating RSS feeds is available and it reads like it is really easy to do, but I have had a really hard time doing it and getting help has been equally difficult. I am usually referred away from MUSE to something automatic because someone has made many RSS capable sites with WordPress. I have made a number of WordPress sites and I really prefer to own MY content's look and feel. RSS as a function of HTML seems straightforward but after many attempts, the best I can do is fool an RSS Reader into thinking my site is RSS capable, but getting them to actually read it after that usually fails...and updating RSS info manually is a big pain when everything else in MUSE is so easy. In perspective though, it's in-line with expectations for traditional HTML coding...MUSE has just made me snooty about how I would like to work.
I saw other people asked for RSS support within MUSE so they can pipe-in content...I don't know if these can be done together or if they would be exclusive. I DO feel that with so much content being made people would benefit from being found as many ways as possible or through as many channels as possible. So, a pipe-out would be very good for the community.
    Thanks.

  • Support for Malayalam language

I wish to buy a Mac. Whether there any support for Malayalam language there? If so which unicode version is using?

Good News! While reading the features of the upcoming OS X Lion, I found extended language support, including Malayalam! The fonts are probably the same as those by nickshanks, but they might be different since the original fonts were made for iOS devices.
    Expanded language support
Twenty new font families for document and web display of text provide support for the most common languages in the Indian subcontinent, including Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, Sinhala, and Telugu. Devanagari, Gujarati, Gurmukhi, Urdu, and Tamil have been expanded. And three new font families support Lao, Khmer, and Myanmar.

  • RSS Disabled in 3.0 - Can't Re-Enable in 3.1

I disabled RSS support in the Debug menu for testing, then upgraded to 3.1. The Debug menu no longer has Enable/Disable RSS Supprot. I don't see it in the "Develop" menu either. Anyone see it? Failing that, is there a command line method?

Yeah, you can't do anything with this in 3.1.
You might want to look for safari.plist files and move them to the desktop to see if that's stored in a settings file.
I guess you could also test by creating a new user account.
If it doesn't show up there either, it may be a pref in the /Library or /System/Library.

  • IVR Support for Laos Language

    Dear Netpros,
Does the application "debitcard_multi-lang_Cisco.1.1.0.0.tcl" support Laos Language?? If yes then could someone suggest the changes to be made in the TCL Scripts to support the language of Laos which will fall under exceptional languages. Kindly explain the step by step procedure for incorporating Laos Language support in the current system. We need this for our Pre-Paid Calling Card operations which we are soon going to start in Laos. We are going to use either a Cisco AS5300 or a Cisco AS5350. Any suggestions or help would be highly appreciated in this area. Thanx

  • Service Release (SR) - which Support Package Levels?

    Hello,
I have a general question in terms of Service Releases of a SAP solution:
Is there an easy way to find out on which Support Package Level (or Support Package Stack) a Service Release (SR) of a SAP Solution (or NetWeaver itself) is based?
Can I get this information in the SAP Service Marketplace?
Example: mySAP <solution> SR1 is based on Support Package Level <nn> of component <comp1> and Support Package Level <nn> of component <comp2>.
    Any hint is appriciated.

The interesting bit is that SR1 was released in April; while SPS6 was available in
January. The same goes for SR2; released in December; while SPS9 was
    available in September.
There is a gap of 3 months between the SPS was released and the SR is released
I assume that patches that have been released for the SPS are included in the SR
therefor a system that has SPS6 or SPS9 applied is not neccisarily the same as
    SR1 or SR2.
    Hope this helps...
    Kind regards,
    Walter

  • Trying to make my website an RSS feed...need some help

I want to make my site RSS distributable. I have been reading what I can find about RSS feeds but I am missing something.
I can make a valid XML file that passes a feed validator, I can make an RSS feed button so you can enable my page to be added to an RSS feed reader but I am thinking my page HTML is still missing some appropriate tags to complete the process. They do not appear as "readable" even after added to a feed reader. It has been very difficult for me to locate a good tutotial to tell me what to do with my pages assets to make them adequately "readable." I don't know if that means it is so easy I'm over-thinking it or what.
To maybe make it a little more problematic, I'm trying to do this with a site that includes a picture gallery, its a web comic. I have seen Web comic aggregators pull in WordPress sites with a clickable gallery that in theory is the same as what I have made at www.norestcomic.com but as I said, I can't legitimately pass my website all the way through a reader, even though it passes validation. I don't think the gallery itself is breaking anything.
I would really prefer to not use WordPress because I like the potential for Muse and what it could mean to my site but the RSS feeds will become an important means of marketing and distribution for the site, so I do need to resolve this.
As an aside would anyone know if RSS inclusion or RSS feed readers are coming as a widget? Can I officially request it? Thanks.
    Best,
    Matt

    Hi king-jans/Jorge,
I am still trying to resolve this appropriately for my needs but I did make some progress.
It took a number of trial and error attempts but I did make it so that some HTML code I added would make my site appear as an RSS readable page. HOWEVER, the HTML export of my site still maintains some of the great MUSE functionality so even with a good RSS header and trying to manually update my RSS support information RSS readers do not read it like other RSS capable sites. There are a number of RSS comic sites I was trying to link my site into and they all come back to me saying they can't read my site...usually treating me like an idiot because many non-technical people can do this though WordPress, etc. Me trying to have some control of the look and feel of my site is apparently a silly notion.
I am still working on it and will update this thread if i can reach a better resolution.
    Best,
    Matt

  • Why OSX Lion supports Lao, Khmer, Myanmar, but not Thai???

Quoted from the Apple's OSX Lion - over 250 new features - web,
    " Expanded language support
Twenty new font families for document and web display of text provide support for the most common languages in the Indian subcontinent, including Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, Sinhala and Telugu. Devanagari, Gujarati, Gurmukhi, Urdu and Tamil have been expanded. And three new font families support Lao, Khmer and Myanmar. "
Lao, Khmer, and Myanmar, but not Thai??  Come on, seriously, you guys in Cupertino...  No offense but Macs are sold more in Bangkok alone than those three countries combined !  not to mention iPhones, iPads, and lots of apps from App Store!  Normally we've been getting along with English-based version, but now don't cram those three while leaving out Thai.  Please don't let everyone here start thinking about discrimination agains one nation (it's pretty clear if you look on the map).  Please, seriously consider adding another one, even as a patch.
    Thanks.

Thai support so far has limited extents; namely word-wrap particularly in Pages, grammatically checking, etc.
I don't remember seeing any complaints about Thai word breaking in these forums before.  OS X does include a special dictionary to try to regulate that.  See this note:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1180
I suggest you send Apple feedback with details about improvements you would like to see in that:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
Does Office for Mac have a word-breaking dictionary for Thai?  My impression is No.  I think it is mainly for that reason that Office for Mac does not even include Thai on the list of input languages it officially supports, which is listed in the Help for that app.

  • Wacom Intuos Creative Stylus Support

Todays update  states they have expanded stylus support to include The Wacom Intuos Creative Stylus 2 (WICS2).  However, when I try to connect the stylus nothing happens.  The Adobe Sketch and Adobe Line apps which were also updated with the same expanded stylus support does connect The WICS2. I tried a soft boot on the iPad, and it did connect after that, but it wouldn't when I tried to reconnect later.
Has anyone else encountered the same issue?

Just tested some fine line drawing both line and sketch, and even Procreate, with the WICS2, and the performance appears to be perfect, no offset, no "staircasing" of diagonals, as far as I can tell.  I agree with the performance issues though, I have encountered the same problems using WICS2 with Sketchbook Pro.
I guess it depends on the platform.

  • Rss has gone wacky

about a week ago, I discovered several problems using the RSS reader built into Safari (latest version).
    1. doesn't show new article numbers on feeds that have new stuff
    2. doesn't clear read articles on some feeds unless I go into feed, select to show all and then back to the 'last seven days' that i have everything set to
    3. it's showing the tags on the summaries instead of the rendered HTML the way it should
any suggestions on how to fix this. I thought at first it was a problem with livejournal which is where a bunch of the feeds are from, but then I was checking my non LJ feeds and they were mucked up also.

Sadly ( ! ) one of the reasons I switched to mac a week or so ago was because of the RSS functionality in Safari.. I know that sounds uber geeky, but RSS is very important to me, and I was due for a new machine anyway! (I hand code my own feed in textedit and formally notepad - and always use an online feed validation tool like feed validator)
I have tinkered about with various standalone feed readers and various plug ins for Firefox. When my brother told me about Safaris RSS support, I was more than delighted to give it a try....
Like many others here, I have been having issues around the updates not showing at the correct times and mostly, updates not showing up at all. Even after resubscribing to the feeds, the issue remains.
An additional feature I would like to see (aside from it generally working as designed!) would be the ability to force a refresh of all subscribed feeds or to generally have more refresh options than the lowest of 30 mins, especially usefull when testing your own feeds)
