I am using oracle 8i with Windows 2000 Pro SP4. I have a database dump file and i need to import the same using oracle 8i. I am getting the following errors.
    imp system/manager file=sap30.dmp buffer=60000
the database was exported by SAP not by you.
    imp unsuccessfully terminated
Finaly the error message says that export was done using 8.01.07 but iam using oracle 8i (8.1.5). Pl help me to import the database.
    Thanks in advance
    Mahendiran.A

dump file created in 11g database can't be imported in lower 8i version.
Restrictions When Using Different Releases of Export and Import
The following restrictions apply when you are using different releases of Export and Import:
Export dump files can be read only by the Import utility because they are stored in a special binary format.
Any export dump file can be imported into a later release of the Oracle database.
The Import utility cannot read export dump files created by the Export utility of a later maintenance release. For example, a release 9.2 export dump file cannot be imported by a release 9.0.1 Import utility.
Whenever a lower version of the Export utility runs with a later release of the Oracle database, categories of database objects that did not exist in the earlier release are excluded from the export.
Export files generated by Oracle9i Export, either direct path or conventional path, are incompatible with earlier releases of Import and can be imported only with Oracle9i Import. When backward compatibility is an issue, use the earlier release or version of the Export utility against the Oracle9i database.

  • Some objects in sys schema not imported usinf full database import/export.

    Hello All,
We need to migrate database from one server to new server using same database version 11g Release 2 (11.2.0.1.0). We have some production objects in sys schema. We took full export using full=y and then import on new server using full=y. Other objects belonging to different tablespaces and users has successfully imported but production objects i.e table in sys schema not import.
We used following commands for export and import:
    # exp system file=/u01/backup/orcl_full_exp.dmp log=/u01/backup/orcl_full_exp.log full=y statistics=none
    # imp system file=/u01/backup/orcl_full_exp.dmp log=/u01/backup/orcl_full_imp.log full=y ignore=y
    Kind Regards,
    Sharjeel

    Hi,
First of all it is not good practice to keep user object in the sys schema
second you are useing version 11gr2 what not you go for datapump export/import method.

  • Is it possible to import an Oracle 10 (export .dmp file) into Oracle 9 db ?

    hi Oracle Guru's
Is it possible to import a oracle 10 (export .dmp file) into an oracle 9 database ?
I tried & got the following error ...
IMP-00010 not a valid export file, header failed verificationperhaps their is a work-around ?
    thanks

    Hi
You can take export from a previous version and import to a later version. Having said that, there is still a workaround to do what you want.
On 9i server add a connect string for your 10g instance. Then use 9i export utility to export 10g data. That way your export will be compatible with 9i. You can then import the data in your 9i instance.
To create connect string you can either use Net Configuration Assistant or manually edit TNSNAMES.ORA file in your 9i server.
    Hope it helps.

  • Full database import and export

    Hi,
i performed full database export and want to perform full import please suggest me how to perform full import..

Oracle will change the data to the db characterset on import. This can be good or bad depending on what you have and what you want. So, what do you have and what do you want? Don't forget to check logs you should be keeping with these utilities. Edit: original exp/imp states the characterset in a log, expdp I guess you need to look at the 3rd line in the dump file. Don't edit dump files, if you are on unix you can use the strings command. It would help if you told us the exact version, patch set and platform you are on.
Also, see the [url http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10729/toc.htm]Globalization Guide.

  • XML Import/Export on 64-bit UNIX

    Hi,
can anyone help me about Analytic Integration Services XML import/export on 64 bit Unix?
The document "eis_93100_readme.pdf" explain that the import/export function is not available on 64-bit UNIX platforms and I don't know how to perform it.
    Does any tools exists?
Thanks for any response in advance.

This is usually an indication that something is wrong with the credential store. I've run into a bug with cryptotools where it truncates passwords on Unix. Try running cryptotools without encrypting the password. After that, see if the password is correct in the credential store.
If this seems to be the problem, then I recommend generating your credential store on Windows and then moving it to your Unix platform.

  • Exporting from Access to Oracle

    Hi all,
nowadays we are dealing with an issue of exporting access tables to oracle 11g.Briefly, the problem is our former developers had defined columnnames with space characters in access tables,as you know they are not valid in oracle db.After spending hours on internet we found out that we can export tables to oracle with the same column names if we put a quotation mark (") just before and after the column name which means a column named [Customer Name] in access is gonna be changed to "Customer Name".It looks okey but still looks like an amateur ,daily solution.Dou you know any other solution for our problem and also is the putting quotation marks(") a supported solution for oracle's side.
    Thank You
    gokhan

    Hi,
You can make use of Oracle sql Developer for exporting Access tables or database to Oracle. ORacle sql developer will capture the Access model and then convert it into the Oracle required format. Then using that model you can perform Import in the ORacle Sql Developer.

  • Export from Apex 3.2 and import to Apex 4.0

I apologize if this has been asked before (and I am sure it has).
We are about to move all our Apex/Oracle apps to a server where Apex 4.0 is installed. Our current Apex version is 3.2. My question is can we export from Apex 3.2 and import in Apex 4.0 and expect everything to work (assuming it all works fine in Apex 3.2 and all Oracle objects were moved properly to the new server , both servers have Oracle 11g).

I am having trouble finding "update application" under any of the utilities.
Also one of my applications gives me the following error when I try to import it from Apex 3.2. to 4.0
    ORA-20001: GET_BLOCK Error. ORA-20001: Execution of the statement was unsuccessful. ORA-02290: check constraint (APEX_040000.WWV_FLOW_WS_RPT_CHART_AGG_CK) violated <pre>begin wwv_flow_api.create_worksheet_rpt( p_id => 24053127534342788+wwv_flow_api.g_id_offset, p_flow_id=> wwv_flow.g_flow_id, p_page_id=> 60, p_worksheet_id => 24052412232342516+wwv_flow_api.g_id_offset, p_session_id => null, p_base_report_id => null+wwv_flow_api.g_id_offset,
I have no clue how to fix that.

  • Exporting z/OS Mainframe Oracle 9i  to AIX (on 10g)

My customer has raised the following query. Can anyone assist me with a response. Thanks
"Is it possible to provide the syntax (particularly interested in codepage conversion, if any) for exporting z/OS Mainframe Oracle 9i to AIX (on 10g)….?
Generally zOS Mainframe export data will be in EBCDIC and packed decimals and this cannot be handled by import on AIX, hence export to binary would resolve the issue"

    Welcome to the forums !
One way of migrating across OS platforms is to use export/import utilities, since the dump files they create are hardware-agnostic. In theory, export from 9i on z/OS and them import into 10g on AIX is possible. Both these database versions are already de-supported, so do not export stellar support from Oracle if/when you run into issues.

    exp full=y FILE="full.dmp" log=full.log
    Now I imported:
    imp file=full.dmp log=full.log INCTYPE=SYSTEM
    imp fromuser=user1 file=full.dmp
Results: not all the user procedures have been imported:

    Hello,
do the OPS$ User exist? Do they have the right permissions? To which user does the table SAPUSER belong? Can you connect with sap<xyz) or SAPR3 to database?
    e.g. like
    sqlplus /nolog
    connect sap<xyz>/pw?
you should change the password for the sap database user with brtools, like
    brconnect -f chpass -o [sapr3 | sap<sid> | sap<xyz> | sapsr3] -p <new_password>

I understand that to create an Oracle Release 8i Export file
