Export Apple Pro Res HQ with CS5.5?

I have Premiere CS5 on mac and win7 PC.
My Mac can export to Apple Pro Res HQ
But my PC can't.
Is there a way I can add Apple Pro Res HQ codec to the export list?
The reason I need it is that all the networks want that codec.
Thanks in advance

Hopefully the industry will change a bit in the commercial world seeing final pro x is so useless.

    This is the clip:

I know they both should match. Question is, should I re convert the clips in mpeg using different size settings? Or should I change the sequence settings? how?
    Thanks A LOT.

  • Green screen keying layer does not export with rest of media in apple pro res 422

green screen keying layer doesnot export with other media in the sequence when using apple pro res 422

You really will need to explain this a bit more carefully, pretend we have no clue what you're doing, and phrase this in the form of a question. For all we can tell, this is exactly the result you wanted and you're just telling us about it.

  • CS 5.5 renders apple pro res poorly compared to CS5.0

    Hi hi,
This is my first time posting here.
I'm experiencing a loss in the quality of text in my rendered video after migrating from cs5.0 to cs5.5, and I would like to know if there is any way cs5.5 could give a better render, or if I should switch back to cs5.0 for the time being.
The video that I'm rendering consists of two videos: a video of a power point presentation, and a video of the speaker/presenter pip'ed over the power point video. The text on the power point slide is poor quality when exported from cs5.5 compared to the same video rendered in cs5.0 with the same settings.
All of my source video is apple pro res LT codec, and was captured on a AJA Ki pro device. My sequences are setup as progressive to match the source.
    I'm exporting as MPEG2-DVD
    Export settings:
Again, I've rendered the same project in both cs5.5 and cs5.0 each with the same export settings; however, the cs5.5 rendered video has blurry text (exspecially on the charactors such as the 'e') on the power point slides where the cs5.0 looks fine.
    system notes:
I have the latest quicktime version installed.
    Working on window 7 systems.
Comparison (Note: This is actually a pretty good case for cs5.5. Other slides in previous renders were much worse, but you can still see the difference here.):
    CS 5.5
    CS 5.0
    Thanks,
    Ted

Seems  5.5  is not applying MaxQuality sharpening.
Is this a direct export from Premiere or did you send it to AME?
I have found a sligt difference when doing this.

  • Apple Pro Res Export

I am exporting a project that I am sending to be authored. I have already exported the menus in Apple Pro Res 422 (1280x720). This was the most efficient way to preserve my 16:9 anamorphic setting.
When I export the entire movie however, I get dozens of -av.mov files that are linked to the primary mov file which is only 2gigs. What exactly is going on here? If I send a hard drive out with all these av.mov files, can the guy who is authoring read the primary file?
    Any info is much appreciated.
    Thanks!

In your FCP System Settings (Shift-Q) check to see if the option to Limit Capture/Export File Segment Size is active. It's normally toggled off, but the default size limit is set to about 2 GB (2000 MB), so that's why I'm asking.
One caveat: if you're exporting to a hard drive that is formatted for Windows use, leave the setting and box checked because many Windows drives (formatted by Macs, especially) won't do larger than 2 GB files. And no Windows system will recognize files larger than 4 GB.
So I guess what I'm saying is, before you 'correct' your issue, confirm with your authoring folks what system they'll be using. If they are using a Windows box, they definitely won't be able to read your files - the ProRes codec isn't available for Windows.

  • Export to quicktime audio out of sync Apple Pro Res 422

    hello forum!
In a tizz as have an film due tomorrow but when I export to quicktime from final cut 7, the audio is out of sync...
I've scoured the forums and lots of other people seem to have this problem when using H264, however I converted to Apple Pro Res 422 (LT) before pulling files into final cut, plus all of the sequence and final cut settings (as far as I can tell) are already set to Apple Pro Res 422 (LT). I don't understand what I am doing wrong!
nb. the files seem to play okay in VLC

Thanks for your reply David! Indeed my audio is 16 bit 48 kHz and there is no MP3 audio (have a wav music file included).
I just spoke to a techy  friend who said the fact it is playing smoothly in VLC indicates the problem is with quicktime and not with the film itself, so I am currently compressing to something smaller and will see how I fare from there!

  • Apple Pro Res 422 HQ export... no movie at the end of it

I just let an Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) export go for four hours.  At the end, there was no error message.  There was also no movie.  My sequence settings are for Apple Pro Res 422 (HQ) as well.  What happened?

were you doing a file:  export:  quicktime movie (NOT quicktime conversion) with current settings?
Have you done a search on your hard drives for the file name?
Was your target drive formatted macosextended?  Some pc drive formats have a file size limit which might have caused a problem.
You might try doing a short export by marking an in and out in the timeline and see if that works.

  • Trouble with flickering after converting AVCHD files to Apple Pro Res 22

    Hi guys.
I have figured out that Apple Pro res 22 is the best format for my AVCHD files.
But I am having trouble with the files after converting them to this format.
Every 60 frames I have a blurred frame.
This results in a flickering effect when watching the clip.
The original MP4 clip (AVCHD) plays fine on the Mac but when I convert is it flickers.
I have captured a still shot of the frame here
    http://www.willpower.net.au/DOWNLOADS/FrameError.jpeg
Here are the settings I am using for the conversion
    http://www.willpower.net.au/DOWNLOADS/Error.JPG
Here is the converted file in Apple Pro Res 22 format with the flickering
    http://www.willpower.net.au/DOWNLOADS/SANY0007.mov
I'd appreciate any help that you can offer.

Actually I think I might have found the answer.
After diggin deaper into the camera manual I have discovered that the setting I had it on "Full HD" actually is interlaced not progressive. Even though tha badging on the camera says Progressive"
So I think something got lost when converting the files to apple pro res.
I just shot a 10 sec clip on "Full HR" which is the progressive function and it converted nicely.
I'll come back to this post after shooting and making a little test movie today.
    Thanks for your help.
PS. I wonder what codec it actually shoots in. Apparently it is not AVCHD but MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 compression (I thought that was AVCHD)

  • Having some problems with Apple Pro Res 422 HQ and Hard Drives

    Hey,
I've been having trouble when digitizing video via Apple Pro Res 422. First off I'm using a macbook pro 2Ghz intel core duo/2GB of Ram and my hard drive is pretty much almost full. I've set my scratch disks to a Lacie 1TB drive via USB 2.0. Second of all during the Apple Pro Res 422 capture process in the middle of capture it says that my Internal Drive is almost full and won't let me continue on with capture. I don't get it because everything in the scratch disks are set to my Lacie Drive.

My Lacie has 1 firewire 400 and 2 firewire 800 ports but my computer is an early macbook pro that only has 1 firewire 400 port and 2 USB ports. So yea it kinda of stinks but could you recommend a eSata Express card?

  • Final Cut 7: Apple Pro Res Export Drops In File Size?

Hello all. We are noticing a 30% drop in file size when, after importing a 5-minute Apple Pro Res HQ file into Final Cut and performing minor editing (essentially removing a few frames from the ends), the resulting export (also Pro Res 422 HQ) is noticeably smaller, going from roughly 2.5 GB at the start to 1.7 GB at the end. Has anyone seen this? Is this normal? Does it affect file quality? If so, is there a workaround? Thanks for any and all help!
Sequence and imported clip settings both match and are at the highest quality. The original file was captured from a BetaSP into Final Cut as a Pro Res 422 HQ via a Sony DVW-A500 deck.

Those numbers suggest the possibility that you captured 29.97 and exported 23.98. Any chance that's the case?

  • Will FCE 3.5 work with Apple pro-res source Quicktimes?

A buddy is supplying some footage he shot. He's importing into FCPro and outputting Apple pro-res quicktimes which he's then dumping to a drive for me. I'm curious if I'll be able to work with them in FCE3.5.

No, you won't. The ProRes component only comes with Final Cut Studio and Logic. Have the friend import using an Apple Intermediate Codec setting instead of ProRes, because FCE will work with that.

  • If I imported proxy media to edit in fcpx, can I export a hight resolution (apple pro res 422 (hq)) version of the project ?

If I imported proxy media to edit in fcpx, can I export a hight resolution (apple pro res 422 (hq)) version of the project ?

OK, let me re-answer here.  You HAVE to have either original or optimized media, you can not have Proxy only media, when using FCPX's inport options.  You will switch between which FCPX is using; in 10.1 via the Canvas menu option called "Media", or in 10.0.9 and earily via the Preference's "Playback" settings.
When set to Proxy, FCPX only references that medai, which is 1/4 resolution, and not full quality.  When set to Original Or Optimized, you'll get full resolution output, as FCPX is not referencing those files.
The only way to have Proxy only media is to convert it in Compressor and then import that.  And that would just be a huge mistake.

  • CS6 Export Settings for Apple Pro Res 422 HQ

My project is 1920 x 1080 (1.0) 23.976 fps, progressive and my special effects guy is asking for the project to be rendered out to Apple Pro Res 422 HQ. I can not find an export setting that offers 23.976 fps and is progressive. I have offered to give him an "XML" file but he is insistant. What can I do?

I believe you will only find this option on a Mac that has ProRes installed from some other application, like QuickTime Pro or Final Cut.

  • Exporting FCE project to Apple Pro Res 422 HQ Quicktime conversion file

    Hi Folks,
I have recently tried exporting an FCE project (HD 1080 16:9) as:
    1. Quicktime file
    2. Quicktime conversion using Apple Pro Res 422 HQ
and noticed that the Pro Res file is 2Gb. larger than the standard Quicktime file.
Does this mean the quality is 2Gb better? (it certainly looks crisp and clear)
Should I be doing this everytime I export from now on?
    Any information much appreciated.  Regards.

Transcoding your material from one codec to a higher quality codec will not improve the quality of your source material. You are always limited by the quality of the image prior to the transcode.
If you have a pair of shoes you want to store, you can put them is a shoe box, or you can put them in a shipping crate - but neither method will improve the shoes.
The shipping crate will just take up more space.
The only possible advantage of transcoding your AIC sequence from FCE to ProRes would be:
    1) you force the need to repeatedly decompress and recompress the file  - ProRes will bear this better than AIC
    or
    2) you plan to use the file in an edit system that supports working directly in Pro Res.

  • Exporting AVI to Apple Pro Res 422

I am using Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 4.2.1 and I would like to export my source file (AVI) to Apple Pro Res 422. Is that possible?
If not, which format do I export my video to be used on a Mac running Final Cut Pro. I realize I can export using Quicktime, but then Final Cut Pro would have to render the video. I am hoping to avoid the additional rendering step.

Open the AVI file in MPEG Streamclip, and choose prores 422 as the export option, and see if that works.
