Export Cache Rules

Is there a way to export the caching rules and load the same rules into another webcache?
This would seem like an obviously useful thing to be able to do but I haven't seen a way of achieving this. I don't especially want to backup/restore the entire OAS using the backup/restore facility as there would be many differences between one installation and another - I just want the same rules in place on 2 instances.
I don't think I should have to cluster the servers to achieve this either.
Is there a configuration file which contains the rules?
Thanks,
Andy

Thanks!
I'd like to see the rules in their own file so that moving them about is really simple and something that's easy to put under configuration control. Having them buried in a file with other configuration items isn't really the best place for them in my view.
A suggestion to anyone with influence at Oracle!
Cheers once again,
Andy

  • Export web cache rules

    Dear All,
I have downloaded 9ias903_win32.zip and it has Oracle9iAS Release 2 (9.0.3). I have a win2k server and installed all the components on one node.
I have made some change via the nice web page gui by adding some lines in the httpd.conf file and also edit the web cache rules.
This has been done on a pilot environment. Our team is thinking about replicate an exact environment in the QA environment. Are there any command to export all the configuration one one node and import into the fresh installation in QA? If not, just saving the changes on web cache rules and httpd.conf files is ok.
    Thax,

I can speak for the Web Cache side of things. Other than copying/pasting sections of the webcache.xml from one config to another, or just manually reconfiguring the new installation, you have one alternative. This alternative may be a bit less error prone.
Essentially, you can create a cluster of the two cache instaces (your old one and the new one). Part of setting up a cache cluster is propagating the config to member instances. Once the propagation is complete, you can disable the cluster if you want to.
To do this, make sure both instances are running. Go to the original (old) instance where you have a working config. Login to the Web Cache Manager UI on that instance and create a cluster by "adding the new instance." Follow the directions in the online help or in the user guide for exact instructions. When you're all done and you have a cluster set up, you can disable the cluster and find that you'll still have the caching rules, etc. on the new instance.

  • Error during Import & Export of rules - RAR 5.2

    Hi all,
We tried exporting the rule set from Production to the Quality system (as we wanted to make changes in the quality system and then move to the production again).
For this we followed the step by step procedure provided in the configuration guide for Import and Export of rules. The background job was successfull. But we are unable the generate the Action and Permission rules in Quality System
We observed the following the Quality system
    a) All the functions and risks imported successfully and we could able to see them
    b) But when we click on the Action rules it is poping up the error
"500 Internal Server error.00 -Failed to process request Please contact your sys admin"
    c) We are unable to find the ACTIONS (T-CODES) under the respective functions imported into the Quality System.
Does anybody faced the same problem and resolved it. Please help us in resolving
    Thanks and Best Regards,

You can also review the guide GRC Access Control 5.2 u2013 Risk Analysis and Remediation: Quick Reference Guide for Moving to Production to see if it helps you identify your problem.

  • "Build and Export Cache" fails to export 100% Previews:

"Build and Export Cache" fails to export 100% Previews:
I am moving from Bridge CS5 to CS6 and have a very large number of 100% Previews in my CS5 cache.  The idea of regenerating all these 100% Previews in CS6 is NOT amusing.  It is amazing that there is not a simple import function for this task as a way to make the software upgrade more "seamless"… but apparently there is not.
I have read the Adobe documents:
"Bridge Help / Manage the cache | Adobe Bridge CS4, CS5"
"Creative Suite / Work with the Adobe Bridge cache"
Based on these documents, in Bridge CS5 I used the export function in
    Tools>Cache>Build and Export Cache…
        with "Build 100% Previews" checked
and "Export Cache To Folders" checked.
Unfortunately, the "Build and Export Cache" fails to export 100% Previews to the target directory.  They should appear in the target directory as hidden files in the format xxxxx.NEF.JPG.  Yes, I do know how to view hidden files in both the Finder and in Bridge.
In Bridge CS5 I tried Purging and rebuilding the Cache for the target directory with no luck.
I tried running "Build and Export Cache" in Bridge CS6….  still no hidden Preview files in the target directory.
My settings in both CS5 & CS6 Bridge - Preferences:
"Keep 100% Previews in Cache" is checked
"Automatically Export Cache to Folders When Possible" is checked
My settings in both CS5 & CS6 Bridge - Options for thumbnail quality and preview generation:
        "Generate 100% Previews" is checked
    Using OS X 10.6.8
    Anyone have a suggestion?????

Bridge is the only piece of software I have used, which incorporates a database, where new versions do not provide for importing the objects of the older version.  Very strange.
That is a very mildly conclusion but unfortunately until the cache strategy for Bridge is finally sorted out this problem will exist.
Now I have to confess that I can't use the 'Auto export cache when possible' for several versions now due to a rare problem that after the first time usage without problem created export cache almost every second time generates a warning message that due to failure it needs to replace the Cache T file, hence I deselected this option permanently.
I would think that if you have those already cached and exported files for 100 % preview in the dedicated folders it would read those files and add it to the database and central cache file when having pointed Bridge to that folder, but I'm far from sure about that.
Also after rereading your first post you state to expect the build and export cache to build also hidden files with the two extensions from original filetype followed by .jpg from cache in the folder itself (target directory)? Here I'm a bit lost. The mentioned double extension files only appear in the central cache folder and are visible but buried  in the subfolders for each quality in the central cache file at user library (default) or custom set location in Bridge prefs.
The exported cache to folder are hidden files and as long as I can remember that where 2 files already in the File browser (forgot the extension they used for this) and currently .BridgeCache (very small, few KB) and the for me problematic .BridgeCacheT file that can grow very large and has about the same size as the subfolder generated under full in the central cache.
I can see the content of the central cache without problem including the double extensions and previews of the files as thumbs in the Finder, jet with option to show hidden files I can see the CacheT file but only as a blank document icon and I can't find an application on my system to open this file to reveal its content.
Just tried it on a folder with small sized files and having set preview quality to HQ and 100 % preview (checkerboard icon in Path Bar) and then used the option from menu tools to build and export cache to folder including 100 %. Both subfolder in Central Cache and about same sized hidden CacheT file where generated without problems and the full preview was instantly on demand using magnifier. (but all this without the option in prefs to auto export to folder)
So to me it seems (if I understand everything correctly) that either the existing exported files from CS5 do cause the problem or your setup of CS6 is not working correctly.
Are we still on the same track or am I completely lost?

It is stored in binary format so it is not just as simple as querying the table.
If you have a look at this post :- Re: Exporting Hyperion Business Rules as Text files

  • Build and Export Cache

I've already posted this in the Bridge forum, but I thought it might just be relevant to ACR too, so here goes...
I've just bought a Panasonic GF2. ACR support was introduced with 6.3, so I have no problems with opening its raw files in 6.3 or 6.4RC.
If I click on a newly-uploaded raw thumbnail in Bridge, a high quality preview is generated, as expected. However, if I select the entire folder, and select 'Build and Export Cache', nothing happens - I am returned to Bridge as if nothing happened, and the thumbnails stay showing the embedded versions.
This is something I do regularly with my Nikon D300 raw files. Bridge usually counts through the images, and the previews are updated with the ACR-generated HQ versions. But no so with the new GF2.
I wondered if this had anything to do with GF2 support in ACR, rather than Bridge itself?

    Curt Y wrote:
I checked the site http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html and there is no Panasonic GF-2 listed for ACR 6.3
I thought 6.4 was releaseed, but all I see is 6.4 release canidate.
In fact all the cameras begin with DMC.  This camera mey be too new.  Have seen some posts to suggest it can take as long a 2 months to get a new model covered.
    It's the 7th one down!
I can open the raw images fine, and if I actually click on a thumbnail or several thumbnails, Bridge generates HQ previews. All that's happening is that Bulid/Export Cache isn't working for this camera.
I am using 6.4 RC. I might try rolling back to 6.3.

  • AS console hangs when trying export business rules

    Hi,
when i try to export business rules from administration services console it hangs and task manager shows admincon.exe 100% cpu usage.
    Need help.
    Thanks,
    Timur

    Hi Timur,
I ran into the same trouble. I could get 5-7 rules at a time exported just fine. but more than that it would just run and run for hours.
One option is perhaps increase your java heap sizes for EAS.
Another option which we did was to change security to be by project instead of by rule and this made our exports much faster
    This was with Hyperion 9.2.1

  • Exporting business rules

I'm using the instructions from the following thread, Re: Steps to migrate Hyperion Planning application from 9.2.0 to new 9.3.1 env to copy a Planning application from version 9.2.0.2 to 9.3.1. There is a reference in these instructions to export the business rules using Administration Services. I only see options for Business Rules to either copy or export to shared services in the 9.2.0.2 version of the AAS Console. Which one of these options should I use or is there someplace else I should look to export the business rules.
    Thanks,
    Tom

Yes, the user Id. is an admin for business rules. It may be a configuration issue. I get the following message when I try to click on a rule under Business Rules in Shared Services.
Refer to your Admin Guide to configure security privileges for this application.
I get this message in both the 9.2.0.2 environment and 9.3.1 environment. The user is an admin for Business Rules in the 9.3.1 environment also.
The application does not use forms which I beleive is what Business Rules are used for. Not sure if they are used for anything else. Is it safe that I can ignore the business rules in the 9.3.1 environment or am I missing a critical piece that needs to be included in the 9.3.1 environment.
    Thanks,
    Tom

  • Exporting & Importing rules

Hi, got some ruleset questions if anyone would happen to know.
    1. How do you export and import rules and rulesets in WLPS? The rules are
stored in a blob in the database, so a rowexport is not possible without
    copying all the rules.
    2. How is the intended rules development process from BEA? If you can't lock
or version the rules, only one person should be given access to change them.
    3. How is migration between development-test-production intended? Copy all
the rules (the blob) whenever something changes?
    4. Just for interest, what is stored in the blob? Is the whole OO-hierarchy
of the rulesets serialized and dumped into the database?
    cheers,
    Oyvind

    Øyvind,
    1. Importing is achieved using loadrules.bat (should be in bin/win32 or
bin/unix). You can use a utility such as Toad (www.quest.com) to export the
    rulesets.
    2. This is probably safest, although different people could be working on
    different rulesets.
    3. This is the solution at present. We are currently working on better
management solutions that will allow you to use version control tools etc.
    4. The ruleset is actually an XML document (whose Schema we have not exposed
and is not supported). If you use Toad or something similar you can save
these XML documents to disk to put them under version control etc.
    I hope that helped!

  • How to export Business Rules 3.5 to XML or 9.3/11.1 compatible format?

    Hi,
I need for upgrading Hyperion Planning 3.5 to 11.1.x.
Please tell me how to export Hyperion Business Rules 3.5.1 to XML or 9.3/11.1 compatible format?

I don't think there is an easy path to upgrade rules from that version as the format changed.
You may in the end have to resort to copy and pasting the rule code.
