can we export the database via java?
So that i can easily import the same database and reuse it. (as per need)

You can. Just write Java code accordingly. If you don't know where to start, then I recommend to google for a sun tutorial about the following subjects:
1) Java SE.
2) Java IO.
3) Java Collections.
4) Javabeans.
5) JDBC.
Then just do the math.
That said, I question the value of Java in this kind of task. In general the DB itself has some builtin import/export tools which are doing the task way much more effectively than you could ever do in Java. Think once more again about your solution.

Urgent Help !!! Export data into insert format (Oracle Sql developer)

Please help , when i try to export ms access table which have 400,000 over rows to insert format using oracle sql developer 1.5.5. After the export have done the exported file xxx.sql is empty.
Is it because of too many rows? or what tool or function should i use for exporting table with many rows.
It used to have exported successfully with

----- when i try to export table with over 10,000 row.

Another option is to export your file as Formatted text (space delimited). This will create a fixed format file. You can either create an external table to access the file or use sqlloader to load it. In your control file or access parameters you will specify the positions of the fields you are interested in. Your control file will look something like this:

SQLDeveloper does not currently provide an option to import fixed format files.

Issue while exporting report in Excel Format

I am facing problem while exporting the report in Excel Format. After analysis, I think that it could be due to two reasons, either we are using wrong versions of Jars, or we are using wrong API. Here is the code, approaches and problems we are facing. Please help.
First approach we are using is:

Problem Faced: Specified Excel format is not supported.
Second Approach: We come to know that excel format is supported with new releases and with occa package.
Then we tried with import com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.application.ReportClientDocument; It ask to set the ReportServer. When we are trying to set the server as
               reportClientDoc.setReportAppServer(ReportClientDocument.inprocConnectionString);
Application is unable to find 'ReportClientDocument.inprocConnectionString' property. It seems like we are using some old jars. However we have downloaded the latest released jars for eclipse 2.
Please help for it. Issue is to export the report in excel format, which is currently working fine for PDF. If this problem is related to Jars, please suggest the path to download the latest jars. We also looking for the latest jars like rasapp and rascore etc. But these are not available with Crystal Report for Eclipse 2 release.

Export to excel with formatting was autowrapping text in a cell without having to check the can grow option. When the can grow option is checked it does wrap the text however it spans multiple rows, which causes complications when trying to sort.
It worked in:
ProductVersion=10.0.0.533
ProductName=Crystal Enterprise 10 Embedded
Doesnt work in:
Crystal Reports 10.0 Service Pack 6
After the upgrade the reports did not autowrap, b/c the "can grow" option was not checked. I believe this was fixed by "ADAPT00305137 Patch ID: 36479914

When users export to Excel 97-2000 with the page-based format, text fields are wrapped, even when the "can grow" feature in the
Designer is turned off." . After we turn the option to grow on it does wrap however it spans across multiple rows. So I guess my question is there a way for it not to span multiple rows when wrapping text?

I could be wrong, but I believe the export to excel option exports the database values, and the export to HTML exports the values seen in the sheets. If the database values are stored as seconds, the Excel will see them as seconds, and the data will have to be formatted properly in Excel.
I haven't toyed around with Excel exports that much, but it might be possible to set up a template or macro in excel that would have the proper formatting, and use it when opening the Disco export.

Error while exporting data from sql server to excel

I am trying to export data from sql server to excel.
The query that I used is s follows

I get the following error message while doing so..
String or binary data would be truncated.
The statement has been terminated.
One of the column's holds data more than 225 characters.
What is the way to correct this, i want the whole data of the colum in the excel sheet.

I haven't had great luck with the INSERT INTO OPENROWSET method. Can you try one of the many samples from one of these 3 links?

I got error when I export database ORACLE 9i from solaris 9.

I want to export full database ORACLE 9i from SOLARIS 9 to import full database on ORACLE 9i on windows.
I set oracle environment and NSL_LANG with command:

Exporting Slideshows in Different Formats

Ok everyone, I'm having a few problems. I just recently ugraded to iPhoto 5.0.4 and everything is fine and dandy, but I'm wondering if there's any way that I can export slideshows that I create in different formats. Let me explain my situation; I'm a high school student in an Advanced Biology class, and our class has it's own website for the projects we do. My teacher has asked me to try to figure out a way to create slideshows with all the pictures we have for the different projects, then save/export them in a format that we can post on a web page. A friend of mine recommended that we make a page with links so that people could select their connection speed and format that they would like to download the file in, for example QuickTime, Real Player, Windows Media, Flash, etc... I've figured out how to export the files in QuickTime and Real Player compatible formats, but that's it. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Yes, iPhoto doesn't support the 16:9 format for exporting. I suggest you useiMovie HD 6. It's still available to Mac users who have iLife 08 and are not pleased with the new iMovie which has been dumbed down from the V6 version. If you add the 16:9 photos to it you can export to that ratio. Also you'll have much more control over the audio trachs being able to cut out portions, fad in and out, overlap etc.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

So the said package of Sys has issues. Is this database being upgraded recently and thus is having some invalid packages?

Try using the DTS (data transformation services) services of SQL Server 2000
DTS is based on an OLE DB architecture that allows you to copy and transform data from a variety of data sources. For example: Oracle directly, using native OLE DB providers.
Alternatively, you could follow the following broad steps for data migration (assuming you are retaining the same table structures in SQL Server, and that you are talking about SQL Server 2000).
1. Get the CREATE scripts corresponding to each Oracle table / view / index. These can be reverse engineered from the database using a tool.
2. Map Oracle datatypes to SQL server datatypes e.g: date maps to datetime/smalldatetime, numeric maps to one of int, bigint, smallint, etc depending on the range of values in the CREATE scripts.
3. Indexes in SQL Server are of two types: Clustered / non-clustered. There can only be one clustered index on each table.
4. Converting procedures and triggers will have to be line by line, since SQL Server uses a proprietary T-SQL instead of ORacle's PL/SQL
I have yet to see a really good tool to do this migration, but it is possible to write a PL/SQL procedure / Pro*C program to automate the script creation for creating tables in the SQL Server database.
For the actual data import into SQL Server, export the Oracle data table by table into flat files, and then use the import wizard of SQL Server enterprise manager

Hi,
Use the SQL Server Enterprise Manager to export all the tables from SQL to oralce.
When selecting the target database use the Oracle native driver (the name is not on top of my head) and not the ODBC one.
You will have problems with datatypes. Make sure to edit the mappings for the proper datatype if required.
If you have ntext columns, make sure they are translated to CLOB and not long.

I have a data in SQL Database which is in ‘float’ format. The data is being stored for TimeStamp such that casting it for ‘smalldatetime’ gives the exact timestamp in SQL Server.
For example I have dates (dTime) column and the converted columns when did casting for smalldatetime gives following result (in SQL Server)
dTime (Float) ########################## small_date_time (CAST dTime AS smalldatetime)
40322.271099537 ########################## May 26 2010 6:30AM
40322.275706018503 ########################## May 26 2010 6:37AM

Now problem is I have this (dTime) column coming as Double in OBIEE and when I’m trying to convert this to TIMESTAMP/DATE it gives error.
To Simplify I tried following query in Answers directly.

and the error shown is below
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. [nQSError: 43119] Query Failed: [nQSError: 46046] Datetime value 40322.271099537 does not match the specified format. (HY000)
Do we have a way to get the format right by using cast or any other function.

Export data in cloumn format in Essbase v11.1.1

Hi Everybody,
I have installed essbase 11.1.1 in my personal desktop recently, to understand the new features and I observe dataexport in column format is not working as intended. When i select option called "export in column format" data is not exporting in cloumn format, exporting in blocks(normal export). In version 7.1.6 we did data export several times using column format and data was exported in cloumn format.
Do i need to change any settings in cfg file to export data in cloumn format?
Please some one share your views on this?

Export in SQLLoader format has been changed to generate the data in a separate file from the control file. This was done as there are restrictions in the data that can be embedded in the control file. You should now find two files generated for each loader format export: a .ldr and a .ctl file.

Hi There,
I am trying to export the data out of essbase then reload it into sql table, I right click Export, then choose "All Data", and check "Export in column format", so I get the text file. However when I try to import into sql table, it is just one big column.
What is best way to export data out of essbase then import into sql table, the idea is that I just want to export, for example, budget data, then import into sql.

If you read my blog, you will see you really cannot control the format of the export except to designate one of the dense dimensions as the columns. The rest of it follows the outline. I'm going to guess that your periods dimension is what is being spread across. while you can't get the columns in the order you want. If this is still a dev cube, you could add a dense dimension with a single member and use that as your column. It would not affect the cube performance, but would affect any load rules or reports you already have.
If you need the format you describe, another suggestion would be to export it in the format you see, then put a view on top of it that unions the periods to pick up a single column of data and force a month name in it.
If your table looks like Year,scenario,dept,acct,Per1,Per2,Per3etc
then you could do a view like
Select Year,Scenario,dept,Acct,'Jan',Per1 from table where Per1 is not null
union
Select Year,Scenario,dept,Acct,'Feb',Per2 from table where Per2is not null
etc
