Export to PDF defaults to HTML file instead of Adobe PDF since moving to CC2014

Hi friends!
Help please. Ever since I moved to CC2014 my InDesign and Illustrator is defaulting to HTML files instead of Adobe PDF when exporting to PDF. I also use this same software at another workplace and this has not been a problem there. I am on PC, on Windows 7. Does anybody know of a preference or such that I can switch to correct this?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Mindy.

This is the window I am getting when attempting to use Data merge in ID. Have used this successfully before in previous versions of InDesign. Any ideas?
Thanks

  • Mac - navigateToURL opens default application for .html files instead of browser

    On Mac I have Adobe AIR version <string>3.1.0.4880</string> and I have selected TextMate for .html file as default application. With this configuration when I call navigateToURL in my app to open browser, it opens TextMate instead of default browser.
    Following is the simple code to open URL:
    var urlRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest(url);
    navigateToURL(urlRequest, "_blank");
    Is this known issue? Any workaround for this?
    Thanks,

    Since you've remapped what your default response to .html files are, you can't use navigateToURL() or openWithDefaultApplication().
    So it looks like you'll need to use the NativeProcess class:

  • EPUP export html files instead of xhtml

    When I export my ePub book and crack it open the markup files are in xhtml.  Whereas all the free books that I've downloaded on gutenberg.org have had html files inside them.   Is there an option in InDesign to export the files as html?  In case you were wondering why I have written some JavaScript do do some ePub parsing and the javascript evaluate function works differently with xhtml.

    You can't change the ePub included file format in InDesign. In ePub html, xhtml and xml is allowed, thats why different ePubs from different vendors can also have different file extensions. You might change your javascript to support html files, or you rename the files within the ePub. In second case, don't forget to adapt the opf, toc and linking within the xhtml files.

  • ITunes is somehow the default opening acsm files instead of digital editions

    So, I am trying to borrow eBooks from the library and download them into Adobe Digital Editions and then transfer them to my Kobo, but it is not so simple. I can download the acsm file, but when I double-click to open it, it tries to open in iTunes instead of Adobe Digital Editions. I can then go to my downloads folder, right-click on it and "open with.." Digital Editions. Is there a way to change this default? On my father's MacBook Air (I have a MacBook Pro), when you double click on the download it automatically opens in Digital Editions. I just want it to work this way on my computer!
    Also, I am having issues transferring from Digital Editions to my Kobo - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't - and I can't figure out why. Any thoughts?

    1) In a Finder window highlight a file of the kind you want to change the application to open that kind of file.
    2) While that file is highlighted, select File > Get Info or press command (apple or propeller icon) + i to get a file information window.
    3) In the lower part of the info window there is an "open with" menu with a list of applications.
    4) If your application is already in the box then it is the default application for opening that kind of file and you don't need to do anything more.  Close the get info window.
    5) If the application showing in the menu is not the one with which you wish to open the file then select a new application. If your application does not appear there then select the "other..." and track down the application (usually in the Applications folder at the main level of the computer).
    6) If you wish to change all files of this type to open with this application in future, make sure the "change all" button is selected.
    7) Close the get info window.

  • Can FFmpeg produce f4f, f4x and f4m files instead of Adobe's File Packager for HTTP Dynamic Streaming?

    I need a command tool to produce f4f , f4x and f4x files. And I know Adobe's File Packager. But I'd like to use FFmpeg(Because it's opensource) to produce those files. I am not sure whether FFmpeg can produce f4f , f4x and f4x files for HTTP Dynamic Streaming or not. My goal is to achieve HTTP Dynamic Streaming in Linux with opensource tool instead of Adobe Flash Media Server.

    Isn't the packager part of Flash Media Server?

  • HTML file loading in Adobe Air + ProgressBar?

    I am developing an AIR application. In that few reports I am showing. I am using HTML files to show the report.
    Action script is preparing/Writing the report contents into a file/
    I am using mx.controls.HTML to show the html file. Since the HTML file is little bigger in 512 MB RAM machine ( when I am running the air app)
    its taking 95%cpu when the page is getting rendered for a long time. Its making other applications unresponsive.
    Would it be possible to show progressbar when the HTML page is rendering?
    Regards
    Penugonda

    i created a similar thread a few weeks back http://forums.adobe.com/thread/619411?tstart=30. I was doing research on this topic for a quite long now but sadly there is no direct way of monitoring the progress of an html loader, it does not offer any progressEvent.Progress to monitor either. and what is more sad is that they haven't done anything about in the latest release of AIR either
    However all is not lost. What you can do is,monitor the progress of your URLRequest  using a URLLoader and once its complete you can use the (htmlloader object).loadString() function to render the html content loaded by the URLLoader :
    var browser:HTMLLoader = new HTMLLoader();
    var urlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(new URLRequest("http://www.youtube.com/"));
    urlLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onUrlLoaderComplete);
    urlLoader.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, onURLLoaderLoading);
    private function onURLLoaderLoading(e:ProgressEvent):void
         trace("progress = ",Math.round((e.bytesLoaded/e.bytesTotal)*100));
    private function onUrlLoaderComplete(e:Event):void
         browser.loadString(e.target.data);
    cheers!

  • When I try to open an PDF file in the Firefox browser, the file reconizes a HTML file instead of PDF.

    See question. The Adobe plugin is installed. It looks like Firefox attaches html to the file name.
    I click on link on internet. A screen appears that says:
    You have chosen to open (filename*.pdf) The icon for the file name shows an Internet Explorer icon. The it says: which is a: Acrobat Reader file. What should Firefox do with this file, you have two options: Open WIth and save file.

    " Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder" . i can't find open containing folder in profile directory. it does give me the option to open the places.sqlite file using graphic converter. when i try that, graphic converter gives me a window saying that it can't be opened because it is corrupted or is not a file type supported by graphic converter.
    i appreciate your help with a workaround to get the old bookmarks. that works. however, the problem has morphed from that concern to why adobe reader [the default app.] won't open firefox .sqlite files. is the problem in adobe reader or firefox? also, how can i tell if the places.sqlite file is corrupt?
    i'm getting in over my head here and do appreciate your help.

  • I am having trouble exporting my bookmarks to a html file. How do I do this?

    I tried to follow the instructions on the regular Firefox site.
    But I can't find a way -- as the toolbar is displayed on my screen -- to trigger the "export bookmarks" prompt (as described in the conventional instructions for doing this?)
    Is there any other way? I remember not having any problem at all in the original version of Firefox. But that was a long time ago.

    Hi,
    To view the regular menu bar temporarily, press '''Alt''' or '''F10'''. To make it permanent '''View''' ('''Alt''' + '''V''') > '''Toolbars''' > '''Menu Bar''' or right-click on '''+''' after the last tab and enable (tick) '''Menu Bar'''.
    To export, please try this: '''Bookmarks''' ('''Alt''' + '''B''') > '''Show All Bookmarks''' or press '''Ctrl''' + '''Shift''' + '''B''' to open it directly, click '''Import and Backu'''p on the top and '''Export Bookmarks to HTML...'''

  • PDF files downloading as html files

    I am trying to save pdf files from a database but firefox keeps on saving them as html files instead, even when saving it shows it saving as *.pdf. I have only just fixed the problem of not being able to open the pdf files and now using adobe reader add on but now can't save the files I have opened. I need to be able to access these documents when not online. Instead of studying for the last 3 hours I have been trying to solve issues since downloading the lastest version of firefox. This was never an issue with the older version.

    Hi WinchesterBunnyMama, what exactly is your problem. Is it this issue:
    Some users are finding that an update changed the description of "Adobe Acrobat Document" to "Firefox HTML Document". The installer was supposed to add Firefox as an ADDITIONAL viewer for PDFs, not as the DEFAULT viewer. Sorry if you were affected by this glitch and hopefully they will figure out why some systems get changed this way.
    You can try this fix suggested by a user in another thread:
    # Open Adobe Reader / Acrobat*
    # Edit->Preferences
    # In the Categories column click 'General'
    # Near the bottom of the page click the button marked 'Select Default PDF Handler'
    # In the dialog, select 'Adobe Reader XI' (or Adobe Acrobat, as the case may be) and click 'Apply'
    # A Windows Configuration screen will appear. Allow it to do its stuff (takes a few minutes), then restart your computer when prompted.
    Does that work for you?

  • How can I import my IE8 bookmarks/favorites into Safari if I only have access to the data stored on my old hard drive? I can't run Windows to export them to an html file.

    My old PC died and I replaced it with a MacBook Pro.  Although I was able to copy the data from the PC's hard drive, I am unable to export my previous bookmarks/favorites to an html file because that PC won't boot.  Is there any other way to import them into Safari using the raw data stored on that drive or convert them somehow to a format I can import?

    You can only use a JSON backup to restore all bookmarks in Firefox.<br />
    If you need to import Firefox bookmarks in Safari then you need to (re)install Firefox and export the bookmarks to an HTML file.
