Exporting as Quicktime from PPCS3

Im having problems exporting videos as a QT movie. Im running CS3 PP on a windows machine.
I have QT pro (and have reinstalled twice) but when I try to save through adobe encoder as a QT file in the menu I get a Preset error message Cannot find Quicktime authoring components. Please install Quicktime from apple.
I can save as realplayer, flash and windows movies.
I have been told that this could be a codec issue. The only video codecs available on the pull down menu are Real Video. Does this require a third party application- and if so which one?

Dear Charlotte
I know this is coming too late, but maybe it will help you in the future anyway.
Adobe Flash developers are known for not fixing tons of old bugs with new versions of Flash - this bug is there since I remember myself working on Mac (for 5 years now)... There is no way you can export Flash into a propper QuickTime. But there is a workaround, which is quite easy: export the movie into PNG image sequence, then import the sequence into an editing software, like Premiere, or After Effects, or even QuickTime Pro, add the sound, and then export. One good thing about Adobe Premiere is that since version CS4 it can read SWF files, so you can even import the SWF right into Premiere. Hope that helps.

  • Why Can't I Export to Quicktime from Garageband?

Has anyone else experienced this or would know how to fix it...
I created a .mov file from Keynote and brought it into Garageband as a Video Track to sync the music to the Keynote presentation. Now I'm ready to Export to Quicktime from Garageband. When I choose the Export command from the 'Share' menu in Garageband, it runs through two dialog boxes - first "Creating Mixdown" and then "Converting..." - after the second dialog box disappears no Quicktime file is created.
I have tried several things to remedy this, but have had no luck - such as updating to Garageband 3.0.1, running Disk Utility, restarting the computer. I also made sure to check the Preferences in Garageband before exporting.
Can anyone tell me how I can get it to export?
Also, the final Garageband file size is approximately 180MB and the presentation runs approximately 8 minutes. The final file will need to be 'full quality', as it will be shown from a projector at a meeting.
      Mac OS X (10.3.9)   Keynote v3.0.0; Garageband v3.0.1; Dual 1GHz G4; 1.5GB SDRAM

    Which export did you use?
Try going into prefs->export, enable the export to disk option.
Than in the Share menu choose export to disk.
Then do a search on the name of your song (in the Finder) and see if it shows up.

  • EXPORTING TO QUICKTIME FROM FCP5 AND ONLY SOME OF THE FILM IS TRANSFERED?

also if you have a clip selected that is all that will be exported. From your info thats all I got for you. LOL

  • Exporting to Quicktime from FCE

Here's hoping one of the more experienced members of this forum can guide me with answers to two questions please.
I shoot and edit 16:9 SD (as opposed to HD) and I have Quicktime Pro. My films are about 3 minutes long.
When I Export as Quicktime, the file is quite large, the quality seems good, but the format switches to 4:3 with the images all tall and thin.
** Is there a way I can export to Quicktime and preserve the 16:9 format?*
When I Export as Quicktime Conversion, I can preserve the 16:9 format. But the file is smaller and even the highest settings are not particularly good quality. Sometimes this is OK if I want to upload it to Vimeo or similar site, but it takes me two steps to get this 16:9 into a 4:3 ratio. (There is an option to switch to 4:3 by letterboxing, cropping or fit within frame - but this doesn't work in one pass from the FCE project). I have to export it as a 16:9 Quicktime Movie, open this in Quicktime Pro, and then re-export it in the 4:3 format using either letterboxing or cropping etc.
** Is there a way I can go from FCE to a letterboxed 4:3 file which is small enough to upload yet still looks good.*
Phew - long question. I hope it makes sense. After many years working with Avid I'm just entering the Final Cut world.
    thanks

    To answer your first question
    1) Open your exported Quicktime movie in QuickTime Pro.
    2) Go to Window/Show Movie Properties.
    3) Click on "Video Track", then "Visual Settings."
    4) Deselect "Preserve Aspect Ratio". In the "Scaled Size" box, type in a width of "853" pixels for NTSC or 1024 for PAL. Leave the height at 480.

  • Export to quicktime from final cut producing bad quality audio

    Hello
In exporting out quicktimes form the timeline in final cut I'm experiencing bad quality audio. Its almost like a fussing or noise in the background. I have tried to export the same quicktimes from a new sequence and only after a couple of attempts managed to get a quicktime with clear audio. I found the only way around this is to export out the audio as a separate aiff file which produces a clear audio file. This is not ideal as it creates more work when in a rush.
Anyone have any ideas how to rectify this?
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
    thanks in adavence

The sound is perfect in fcp.
I originally export from fcp using export quicktime movie, thats what causes the problem, which is why I had to resort to exporting the audio file as a separate file to the quicktime as an aiff which solves the problem. But it seem sa shame to have to export the picture and audio separately then use quicktime to marry the 2 together , then to re-export just so you cant have the files as one movie.
I just dont get what its doing.
Thanks for taking a look. I apprechiate it.

  • General error when exporting to Quicktime from FCE

I've built a slideshow with still photos, text, and audio. I've done this at least 20 times. When I start exporting to Quicktime, as I want to burn a dvd in iDVD, the export stops at 27% completed and I get a "General Error". there is no explanation. I've rendered the single sequence many times and it says ok. It plays fine in FCE but won't export to Quicktime. How do I correct the problem?

I think I had the same problem that you are now having. I would get unexpected errors when trying to:
    1) Log and Transfer videos to external hard drives.
    2) Save my exports to an external Hard Drive.
    3) Copy large video files to the External Hard Drive.
Assuming that you are using an external hard drive, chances are that isn't formatted correctly. It cannot be formatted in FAT32 or else large files (usually video) over 4GB cannot transfer. It may be that the file you are trying to export is larger than 4GB. If it is currently formatted FAT32 it needs to be formatted to Mac OS Extended. Hope I was of some help.

  • Why is there jumping between shots after exporting to quicktime from FCP7?

Working in FCP7, after exporting a self contained quicktime, there is jumping between shots.  I tried to remove the transitions, rerendered then re exported but the jumping is still there.  I can't figure out what's going on as it's not happening on all the sequence. Please help!!

Hi Kippybop - sorry to hear you sharing this problem, but nope....still not sorted.
So far I've got all the frame rates matching sequence settings.  I've done two exports with and without transitions and there is still jumping between shots - however, it does seem to be shorter without the transition.  So whatever the problem is, is something to do with the beginning and end of clips and is made worse, and extended by adding transitions - but this doesn't apply to all clips which is really baffling.
I've also made a new sequence and copied the original clips from the problematic sequence - still no change.  So the only impovement is the removal of video transitions, which is not exactly ideal.  I can watch the jumpy .mov on the 'finder' viewer full screen with no jumping, but all other media players show glitches between clips.
I've done a grab of a clip and the sequence settings, which I think are correct, but please if there are any generous FCP7 experts reading, any suggestions are very much appreciated...

  • Exporting to Quicktime from Flash CS5 has gliches

I have been exporting to QT movies from Flash 8 without any hassles, but when I export from a Flash to a Quicktime movie it has issues rendering- pixels hanging on the screen, low quality audio. I've tried with many different options and they all have the same issue. Help!

So what is the recourse here....select the option for exporting whatever the resolution is of the timeline. This usually gives me Mpeg1
I'm not following you here. Can you clarify?
Also am I right in assuming that Matrox HD compressing for H.264 is not available in CS 5.5?
I can't say for sure, but if the specs for the hardware say it should work with CS5.5, then it should. That, of course, is contingnent on having updated drivers, etc. from Matrox. Do you have the latest versions installed? If so, and it's *supposed* to work, that's an issue for the Matrox support folks. What hardware specifically are you talking about?
EDIT: OK, I see what hardware you're talking about. The card says its compatible with AME on a PC, but I didn't see anything specifically about AME on a Mac. It may not work with the Mac version of AME.

  • How to export in Quicktime from iMovie '08?

I edited part of my project in iMovie '08 and want to export it as a high or full quality quicktime to work with in the previous version of iMovie. My movie is in HD, so I want that same high quality when I export. Which settings should I choose?

What other screen could it possibly be?
When you open the program, that's the home screen.  It's the screen that you see when you start the app, before opening or starting any work--in any program in the history of computing.

  • Exporting to QuickTime from Premiere Elements 9.0

A couple of years ago, there was an internet post by a guy named John Cloudman about export settings for high-quality videos for web sharing. There are a few parameters that he changed in the default export that produced very high quality videos.  I noticed that in Premiere Elements 9.0, or in the updated version of QuickTime, there are a couple of new parameters that I don't know what to do with. Specifically, the following 4 parameters in Quicktime:
    1) Field Order: the recommendation was to set it at "none," however, that is not an option. Options are: Progressive, Lower first, or Upper First
    2) Then, there is a checkmark box for "Render at maximum depth." Not sure what to do there
    3) Advanced Settings, there is a checkmark box for each of the following:
    Key frame every _______frames
    Optimize stills
    Frame reordering
    4) Bitrate Settings: There is a checkmark next to this item. If you check it, you can fill in a number
Limit data rate to ________ Kbps
    Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, the poster cannot award themselves "points." Otherwise, Harm and I would have over 50,000!
Glad that you got the answer and the fix.
    Good luck,

  • Exporting to Quicktime from iMovie

After downloading into iMovie from my video camera I am trying to "Share" to Quicktime movie and the selections are "grey" and I can't select it.
My movie is saved and named in my events Library. Do I need to move it to "Project" to share it?

You need to create a project. The Share menu is context sensitive and only applies to projects.

  • General Error (49) when exporting to Quicktime from FCE HD

I don't know what a "General Error (49)" is or how to fix it.
Any insight that can help me with a successful export would be appreciated.

"There's about 15GB free on the drive"
Right there could well be a problem.
DV uses about 13 gig an hour other formats even more. If the Timeline is over an hour you will have to sort something regards space. Over full drives are not a good idea in any case. Many consider drives 80% full to be just that.
Another option to explore is a faulty render file/s. Try deleting them and re-render if the drive option fails you.

OK, I may have found the source of the problem: when i tried to play the movie file that I had inserted in Keynote on my PC, Quicktime asked for a codec. In Movie Inspector, I saw that the video was encoded in FLV1...
Any idea where I can get this codec for QT WIndows (I'm searching for it and haven't found it yet)
