Exporting capture logs to XML
Greetings,
I work as a developer for a non-profit organization, Folkstreams (www.folkstreams.net), which streams documentary films on American folk culture over the internet. We are attempting to build a community of folk culture filmmakers around our site who integrate technology into their filmmaking in ways that help revive or enhance the use of media in recording and making folklore media more useful and accessible.
We hope to create a system where the raw footage left from the filmmaking process will be archived and an index of significant clips created and stored in a database. The clips would record start and end time of the video segment, along with an annotation and an index entry.
We see a possible first step to this process as asking filmmakers who use Final Cut Pro to create an index within the application and then submit their hard drives to the Southern Folklife Collection archive where our film masters are stored. We envisioned importing information about the video from Final Cut Pro into our database allowing researchers and others to search and mine the shot data as well as find relevant video segments.
We would like to ask filmmakers, when they decide to "capture" raw video segments from the camera to the hard drive, that they add a description of the segment. Each segment of captured video will be logged with time code and description. I am not that familiar with Final Cut Pro, but we would also like to associate a category with each captured clip if possible.
I am told it is possible to export a complete log of captured sections from Final Cut Pro to XML. We would like very much to import this to our database. Although there are a few expensive proprietary systems that enable annotating video and storing the information into a database, they leave the filmmaker out of the process, so we propose to develop our own. It is also easy to retain the raw footage by placing the hard drive in the archive. We envision capturing the filmmaker's thoughts and perceptions, making them transparent and available ,in order to maintain the importance of their role. It is also much more likely that the filmmaker will actually mark the segments than some random person the future.
Our people are filmmakers and I am a programmer so this issue falls into the gap between our areas of knowledge. If I can get the XML data, I can import it into a database structured for our purposes. Can someone point me to the documentation for the Final Cut Pro XML export format? I need to know what information is exported.
I've scanned the forums for XML questions but it is a little overwhelming.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

The Final Cut Pro XML Interchange Format info from Apple's Developer Connection should get you started.

Hello,
I am facing a weird issue during the export of a group to a log file (xml).
I have configured my ADLDS management agent such as the export run profile exports data into a XML Ffile:
Everything is fine in the XML, I see my new accounts, the attributes updated for accounts but for an unknown reason the group which should contains accounts does
not contain the DN values.
It contains the tags <dn-value> and <dn> but <dn> is empty
e.g:
<delta operation="update" dn="CN=GroupX,OU=Users,DC=ZZZZ">
<anchor encoding="base64">XDSQDQDQ</anchor>
<dn-attr name="member" operation="add" multivalued="true">
<dn-value>
<dn/>
</dn-value>
<dn-value>
<dn/>
</dn-value>
</dn-attr>
During the export, FIM updates the attribute "member" of the group:
Member attribute seems to be caught by FIM during synchro profile and export profil bt not translates correctly in the final xml file.
Any ideas?
Thanks for your reply.Thinking the same thing as David - sounds like a bug - but that's curious because I've never had a problem with the AD MA doing exactly the same thing, albeit with FIM R1 most recently. What version of FIM are you using, and have you checked the
release notes of any subsequent versions to see if any such issue is mentioned?

How to capture an Odata XML inside an ABAP program ?
Hi Colleagues,
I have a scenario where I need to capture the Odata XML inside an ABAP program.
Problem Description:
1. Log into U3F Client 100 system.
2. Goto Transaction 'SPRO'.
3. Click on 'SAP Reference IMG'.
4. Select SAP Netweaver - Gateway - OData channel - Administration - Maintain Services.
5. Select any service from the Service catalog.
6. Click on 'Call Browser' button.
Now, my requirement is to capture the XML which gets displayed on the web browser into an ABAP program but I am unable to do so. Kindly, provide us the solution.

Export score as music XML file is grey in logic x
when I want to export a song as XML file to communicate with sibelius
the option export score as xml file is grey
Why is that and can I change it
ThanksThat size from iMovie is the space saving import that is not a standard dimension, nor is HD 4:3 aspect ratio, it is 16:9.
This means, as Tom already indicates, that changes are required for FCE use.
If you already know the 28 mins you require why not capture that directly into FCE using the appropriate Apple Intermediate Codec if it's possible?

How to log to a file using the log-configuration.xml?
Hello *,
I created following log-configuration.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE log-configuration SYSTEM "log-configuration.dtd">
<log-configuration>
<log-formatters>
<log-formatter name="DefaultFormatter" pattern="%25d %-60l %s: %m" type="TraceFormatter"/>
</log-formatters>
<log-destinations>
<log-destination count="10" effective-severity="ALL" limit="1000000" name="DefaultDestination" pattern="FDLB_GUI.%g.trc" type="FileLog">
<formatter-ref name="DefaultFormatter"/>
</log-destination>
</log-destinations>
<log-controllers>
<log-controller effective-severity="ALL" maximum-severity="FATAL" minimum-severity="DEBUG" name="DefaultController">
<associated-destinations>
<destination-ref association-type="LOG" name="DefaultDestination"/>
</associated-destinations>
</log-controller>
</log-controllers>
</log-configuration>
From a Web Dynpro view I want to use the log-controller. I'm using the default logger:
Logging location.
private static final com.sap.tc.logging.Location logger =
com.sap.tc.logging.Location.getLocation(EinstiegView.class);
In the wdInit method I want to log a simple message:
public void wdDoInit()
//@@begin wdDoInit()
logger.setEffectiveSeverity(com.sap.tc.logging.Severity.ALL);
logger.fatalT("test logging to new file logger");
//@@end wdDoInit()
I see the message in the defaultTrace.0.log, but my own log file doesn't appear.
How to address the log-controller of my log-configuration.xml?
Thanks in advance,
Jürgen DufnerHi,
I guess the follwing part of your log-configuration is wrong:
<log-controller
effective-severity="ALL"
maximum-severity="FATAL" m
nimum-severity="DEBUG"
name="DefaultController">
Try to change in log-configuration the value for name in <log-controller> to the start sequence of the packages to be logged. E.g., all our packages should start with com.yourcompanyname.projectname
To log all messages from classes in these packages make the name = com.yourcompanyname.projectname.
Hope that helps,

Pi 7.1 ehp1 log-configuration.xml, howto create/edit in NWDS?
Hello,
In NWDS 2.0 You have a special mode in NWDS to edit the file. You get tabs with Log Formatter, Log Destination, Log Controller and Source.
How does it work in NWDS 7.1 EHP1?
The log-configuration shipped with the example module is packed inside the sample adapter module jar. This seems not right? It should be in the ear?
In nwds I create an ear, and then use the nwpacktool to repack it as an sda to be able to deploy with jspm. There is a firewall so I can't deploy from nwds.
I'm building an adapter module. It works fine besides that the logcontroller doesn't display in the nwa, and I can't set the log levels.
I've tried placing the log-configuration.xml both in the META-INF of the jar and the META-INF of the ear but it still doesn't work.
Thanks for your help.
Best regards
Otto FrostHello,
The NWDS 7.1 EHP1 doesn't recognize the file in the META-INF.
In 7.11 the log-configuration.xml isn't used anymore according to SAP.
When the module is started the tracing location is displayed in the log-configurator automagically.
My module wasn't started after deployment.
To start it I had to go into the NWA - Operation Management -
Systems - Start&Stop - Java EE applications - myPiModule
It was stopped, but started up when I clicked the "Logs" link.
After this it is visible in the tracing locations in the nwa log configurator.
Best regards

Capturing log files from multiple .ps1 scripts called from within a .bat file
I am trying to invoke multiple instances of a powershell script and capture individual log files from each of them. I can start the multiple instances by calling 'start powershell' several times, but am unable to capture logging. If I use 'call powershell'
I can capture the log files, but the batch file won't continue until that current 'call powershell' has completed.
ie. within Test.bat
start powershell . \Automation.ps1 %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 > a.log 2>&1
timeout /t 60
start powershell . \Automation.ps1 %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 > b.log 2>&1
timeout /t 60
start powershell . \Automation.ps1 %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 > c.log 2>&1
timeout /t 60
start powershell . \Automation.ps1 %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 > d.log 2>&1
timeout /t 60
start powershell . \Automation.ps1 %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 > e.log 2>&1
timeout /t 60
start powershell . \Automation.ps1 %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 > f.log 2>&1
the log files get created but are empty. If I invoke 'call' instead of start I get the log data, but I need them to run in parallel, not sequentially.
call powershell . \Automation.ps1 %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 > a.log 2>&1
timeout /t 60
call powershell . \Automation.ps1 %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 > b.log 2>&1
timeout /t 60
call powershell . \Automation.ps1 %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 > c.log 2>&1
timeout /t 60
call powershell . \Automation.ps1 %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 > d.log 2>&1
timeout /t 60call powershell . \Automation.ps1 %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 > e.log 2>&1
Any suggestions of how to get this to work?Batch files are sequential by design (batch up a bunch of statements and execute them). Call doesn't run in a different process, so when you use it the batch file waits for it to exit. From CALL:
Calls one batch program from another without stopping the parent batch program
I was hoping for the documentation to say the batch file waits for CALL to return, but this is as close as it gets.
Start(.exe), "Starts a separate window to run a specified program or command". The reason it runs in parallel is once it starts the target application start.exe ends and the batch file continues. It has no idea about the powershell.exe process
that you kicked off. Because of this reason, you can't pipe the output.
Update: I was wrong, you can totally redirect the output of what you run with start.exe.
How about instead of running a batch file you run a PowerShell script? You can run script blocks or call individual scripts in parallel with the
Start-Job cmdlet.
You can monitor the jobs and when they complete, pipe them to
Receive-Job to see their output.
For example:
$sb = {
Write-Output "Hello"
Sleep -seconds 10
Write-Output "Goodbye"
Start-Job -Scriptblock $sb
Start-Job -Scriptblock $sb
Here's a script that runs the scriptblock $sb. The script block outputs the text "Hello", waits for 10 seconds, and then outputs the text "Goodbye"
Then it starts two jobs (in this case I'm running the same script block)
When you run this you receive this for output:
PS> $sb = {
>> Write-Output "Hello"
>> Sleep -Seconds 10
>> Write-Output "Goodbye"
>> }
>>
PS> Start-Job -Scriptblock $sb
Id Name State HasMoreData Location Command
1 Job1 Running True localhost ...
PS> Start-Job -Scriptblock $sb
Id Name State HasMoreData Location Command
3 Job3 Running True localhost ...
PS>
When you run Start-Job it will execute your script or scriptblock in a new process and continue to the next line in the script.
You can see the jobs with
Get-Job:
PS> Get-Job
Id Name State HasMoreData Location Command
1 Job1 Running True localhost ...
3 Job3 Running True localhost ...
OK, that's great. But we need to know when the job's done. The Job's Status property will tell us this (we're looking for a status of "Completed"), we can build a loop and check:
$Completed = $false
while (!$Completed) {
# get all the jobs that haven't yet completed
$jobs = Get-Job | where {$_.State.ToString() -ne "Completed"} # if Get-Job doesn't return any jobs (i.e. they are all completed)
if ($jobs -eq $null) {
$Completed=$true
} # otherwise update the screen
else {
Write-Output "Waiting for $($jobs.Count) jobs"
sleep -s 1
This will output something like this:
Waiting for 2 jobs
Waiting for 2 jobs
Waiting for 2 jobs
Waiting for 2 jobs
Waiting for 2 jobs
Waiting for 2 jobs
Waiting for 2 jobs
Waiting for 2 jobs
Waiting for 2 jobs
Waiting for 2 jobs
When it's done, we can see the jobs have completed:
PS> Get-Job
Id Name State HasMoreData Location Command
1 Job1 Completed True localhost ...
3 Job3 Completed True localhost ...
PS>
Now at this point we could pipe the jobs to Receive-Job:
PS> Get-Job | Receive-Job
Hello
Goodbye
Hello
Goodbye
PS>
But as you can see it's not obvious which script is which. In your real scripts you could include some identifiers to distinguish them.
Another way would be to grab the output of each job one at a time:
foreach ($job in $jobs) {
$job | Receive-Job
If you store the output in a variable or save to a log file with Out-File. The trick is matching up the jobs to the output. Something like this may work:
$a_sb = {
Write-Output "Hello A"
Sleep -Seconds 10
Write-Output "Goodbye A"
$b_sb = {
Write-Output "Hello B"
Sleep -Seconds 5
Write-Output "Goodbye B"
$job = Start-Job -Scriptblock $a_sb
$a_log = $job.Name
$job = Start-Job -Scriptblock $b_sb
$b_log = $job.Name
$Completed = $false
while (!$Completed) {
$jobs = Get-Job | where {$_.State.ToString() -ne "Completed"}
if ($jobs -eq $null) {
$Completed=$true
else {
Write-Output "Waiting for $($jobs.Count) jobs"
sleep -s 1
Get-Job | where {$_.Name -eq $a_log} | Receive-Job | Out-File .\a.log
Get-Job | where {$_.Name -eq $b_log} | Receive-Job | Out-File .\b.log
If you check out the folder you'll see the log files, and they contain the script contents:
PS> dir *.log
Directory: C:\Users\jwarren
Mode LastWriteTime Length Name
-a--- 1/15/2014 7:53 PM 42 a.log
-a--- 1/15/2014 7:53 PM 42 b.log
PS> Get-Content .\a.log
Hello A
Goodbye A
PS> Get-Content .\b.log
Hello B
Goodbye B
PS>
The trouble though is you won't get a log file until the job has completed. If you use your log files to monitor progress this may not be suitable.

BMC Patrol monitoring listener.log in xml not txt format
Hi !
Oracle 11g, PatrolAgent V3.9.00.02i, KM 8.11.00
My company uses BMC Patrol to monitor listener.log. Patrol knows listener.log's path from command:
lsnrctl status <listener_name>
and gets path to listener.log in xml fromat: log.xml from 'Listener Log File' field.
The problem is that when Patrol discovers an error puts last 100 lines from that log into email and sends it to me. Obviously it is in xml format while I prefer txt format.
Questions:
1. how can I force listener to show path to listener.log in txt format in 'Listener Log File' field ?
2. how can I tell Patrol to use different path to listener.log instead of one form 'Listener Log File' field ?
Thanks in advance.I asked on BMC forum also but no helpful either. Does anyone know is it possible to configure listener to show path to listener.log insted of log.xml in status command ?

How do I export character styles as XML?
I have a load of InDesign CS4 files. They contain paragraph styles, but do not appear to have any explicit character styles, though do contain content that is rendered as italic, bold, superscript content etc.
I have associated the paragraph styles with some imported tags and exported them successfully as XML, BUT I can't find a way of grabbing hold of the character styles in the same way.
Very grateful for some guidance on this.
Thank you
BradIt sounds like your problem is that the character styling has been applied ad hoc - i.e., without character styles.
I would suggest creating all the character styles you need/want first. Then, you can use the Find/Change feature to find all text with a certain styling, and apply the appropriate character style to it. You'll need to think through the order in which you do the various Find/Change operations. For example, you will want to find all cases of Bold + Italic and replace with a Bold + Italic character style before you carry out the process for text that is simply either Bold or Italic.
Once you have the Character Styles applied, you can map them to XML tags just as you did with the Paragraph Styles. -
Why system is capturing Log for Document transfer and Compliance check
Hi All
Although I have removed
TD_MAP Movement Data : Document Replication Mapping (Live)
TD_CCH Movement Data : Compliance check Document (Live)
in custom document configuration , then also system is capturing log for document transfer and Compliance check result.
If my understanding is wrong then what is the use of Log control in customs document configuration for
Document Transfer
Document Check
Thanks
Akhil..Hi Akhil,
For some situations, GTS allows you some control over the logging by specifying the Profile to use. But if you do not specify a Profile, logging still occurs using the default values in the standard code.

Gamma shift from Capture & Log
I'm getting this dramatic gamma shift from my Capture & Log window. When I hit Capture Now, the preview image is a lot lighter.
Any way I can get the two matched up?No. It is just a reference so you can see what you have. It isn't in any way a TRUE representation of the image you have. FOr that you use an external broadcast monitor connected via a capture card/device. The computer monitor is the LAST place to judge quality.

Exporting DAC metadata in XML format
I would like to export DAC metadata in XML format . As per the administration guide it is possible to export/import metadata in XML format.
Any information on this will be appreciated.you can only export complete containers to XML, you can't only export the updates (as far as I know that is)
you can do this by selecting Tools, then select DAC Repository Management, then select Export.
