Exporting entire track with silence.

I have a project with multiple guitar and vocal tracks.  I didn't record from beginning to end on each of the tracks, so there gaps at the beginning and through for many of the tracks.  When I export them I want them to include the silence to keep all tracks the SAME length.  This way it will be easier for my friend to import them and NOT have to realign them in his DAW.  I'm sure this can be done, but I'm not finding it.
You can see from the picture what I mean.  I need tracks 1-6 to include the blank (Silence) when exported....
Any help?
Thanks!!

Hi Marc,
Hopefully you are using Captivate 4? If you are, then this
functionality is provided and you can export complete project
(slides) audio for you. This feature is called "Export to Podcast"
and its available at two places inside Captivate.
1. Once slides are ready with audio, follow menu item 'File
> Export > Export to Podcast"
2. Follow menu items "Audio > Edit Project > Export to
Podcast"
Thus you can have a single file comprising of your project
audio, in a .wav or .mp3 format.
Hope this will solve your problem.

Mukul

  • How to export STP tracks WITH edits, names, changes, envelopes back to FCP?

I sent my fcp sequence/movie to a STP multi-track project. Sweetened and edited my audio tracks in STP. All good. Now I need to export those changes back to my FCP sequence, NOT as long AIFF files, but with all the audio files that make up those tracks, with their cuts, handles, file names, and STP changes and envelopes, so that I can access them in FCP (where I must finish the project). It seems like the program should have been designed to do this... but I am hitting a brick wall. Please help. How can I achieve this?
I used conform, but it only seems to conform the STP project, NOT the FCP project to the new audio edits. I do what the manual says.
I tried exporting all tracks to AIFF and to open it within the FCP sequence, but it only gives me the option to open as a new sequence. The result is that the image sequence is correct, but the audio from STP is in long tracks with no edits, no file names, no envelopes, no handles.
Unfortunately I MUST finish my project in Final Cut Pro, and export OMF files for work in a professional FILM (not video) audio facility. They cannot use AAF files exported from STP. And STP doesn't export OMF files. It is NOT an option for me to finish my sound work in STP because of the film-specific facility where I must finish my soundtrack- which in the end goes to optical for use on a film reel.
Thank you for any help someone can give me !

That's one of things you simply cannot do. Conform is as close as it gets. But, you cannot export a STP in to FCP and maintain all the track info like you can the other way around. Part of the problem is that STP is referencing audio tracks FROM media crated in FCP. You'd have a situation where FCP is referencing audio from STP . . . that's referencing FCP audio. It doesn't work that way.
It's too bad the facility can't use the AAF file. That's the only real option.
    Sorry.

  • Any way to export single tracks (with no extra space) or only highlighted bits?

I need to be able to record several hundred small (<1 second) sound bytes and I am trying to use garage band. Obviously that's not what it's made for but I can't find any other software that could even come close to doing the job.
I tried just recording everything all at once and then splitting it up and exporting individual highlighted parts but it can't do that.
Then I tried putting each piece on an individual track and exporting that, but it ends up with a 1 second clip and 15 minutes of silence.
I tried exporting the whole thing to iTunes, converting to an MP3, and then editing the start and stop points and then reconverting to an MP3, but there's no way to indicate start times of a fraction of a second and my sound bytes aren't always exactly inside a second marker.
Is there any good way to do this in Garage Band? If not, is there a program that will do it? Thanks!

  • Exporting sound file with track markers for C D creation

I have a timeline which I need to export the audio track for a CD.
I have songs which fade into each other and I need to have markers in between the fades to have the tracks which people can forward to on the CD.
Is this possible with FCP, an audio track with metadata for CD creation?
    Thanks.

I have exactly the same problem here.
I used to export playback tracks with arrangement-markers from Garageband 6.0.4 to use them with Mainstage 2 in a live situation, with the markers to create loops for solos etc. Since I upgraded to Garageband 10 the markers in the exported aiff tracks are gone; just to make sure I bought Mainstage 3 a couple of days ago, but it made no difference: no more arrangement-markers. Did anyone try it with Logic X?
Would like to have this feature back!

  • How to export all tracks into audio files with the same duration

    Hi everybody.
I am trying to export all the tracks into different audio files.
It's 10 soft. instruments and an audio track. I tried with "File>Export>All Tracks as Audio File but the result is 11 audio files with different lengths. As the song is 3 minutes and 20 seconds I would like every single track to be 3.22 sec long.
How do I do it? In fact, each track is composed not only by played instruments but also by moments of silence.
    Thanks!!

The files are different lengths because each instrument does not stop playing at the same moment. It would accomplish nothing other than waste disk space if Logic appended silence to the end of each file in order to make each track the same length. The different lengths you see mean nothing because the absence of appended silence means nothing.
each track is composed not only by played instruments but also by moments of silence.
Naturally. And that silence is accounted for in your exported files, when the silence appears at the beginning of the track, and when it appears during the track. It just isn't appended at the end because that would be pointless. Consider this project, consisting of four tracks:
When I use the command File > Export > All Tracks as Audio Files, Logic will produce four files that look like this:
The files are not equal in length, which is perfectly fine. What's important is that they all start at bar 1, and will align properly when imported into some other program. So all you need is the command you already used: File > Export > All Tracks as Audio Files. In one step, it will produce all the files you need, and it will produce them correctly.
By using Bounce, you would be gaining nothing except extra work, because you would have to do it separately for each file you wanted to produce. With Export > All Tracks as Audio Files, you get all your files with just one command.

exporting tracks means that any panning or automation will not be rendered. So if you want the engineer to put up all of your tracks at unity gain (all faders at zero) and have your tracks & stems reproduce the mix you're hearing at your studio, use bounce, not export.
If you want to have your tracks & stems reproduce the mix you're hearing at your studio, there's no need to go to the extra effort of using Bounce instead of Export. You only need to enable (in the Export dialog) the checkbox "Include Volume/Pan Automation." This is explained on p. 1022. When you do this, any panning or automation will indeed be rendered.

  • Why does Logic Pro 9 add 0.3s silence at start of all my tracks when I "export all tracks as audio files"?

OK - when I "export all tracks as audio files" it works fine - I get a load of exported tracks (annoyingly with the stupid "_bip" prefix at the end).
But I find that they all have about 0.3s silence inserted at the start. WHY??!!!
I checked, and on the timeline all the tracks start with their first note at the beginning of the track so there is no silence in the arrangement. But still this silence on export.
This Logic feature is so badly designed - why can't it do the simplest things as expected.

Thank you I will look into plug-in latency compensation. However, there is no latency or need for latency compensation when outputting offline files in this way. Latency compensation is for live playback where real-time processing matters. So this is flawed software design, hence my comments about it being illogical.
"there is no latency or need for latency compensation when outputting offline files.....etc"
You don't fully understand how Logic's audio engine and buffering scheme works... not that anyone fully does except the programmers. Basically your above statement is incorrect, as some plugins have built-in-latency and others don't, but that's not the complete picture. The problem is a combination of a plugin's built-in-latency and how Logic buffers data. Logic deactivates the audio engine when stopped, all plugins and software instruments become deactivated including the ability to load or purge data buffers with the exception of a software instrument or audio track that is selected for "live" input.
(Look up Plug-in-Latency Compensation in the manual for a full explation of the choices available)
I won't disagree with you about the software design, however, rather than flawed I tend to think of it as antiquated. The positive side of this is extremely low processor use and the ability to design templates with all plugins and software instruments loaded and ready to start a new project. The downside most Logic users are familiar with...  unexpected overloads in the middle of a project when a approaching a region that makes use of processor intensive plugins, Loops that don't match up perfectly when starting a project from bar 1 and/or missing notes at the beginning of MIDI loop if starting at bar 1.... plus a half dozen other anomalies related to Logic's "efficient" audio engine. The efficiency concept made sense back when computers didn't have enough power to handle active or semi-active plugins, seems it causes more problems than not these days.

  • In iTunes 11.0.2.26, an Albums search by track names returns albums as if they only have one track on them, but I still want to access the entire album. How can I have the search results show the entire album (with just the searched for name highlighted)?

    Hello, all.
In iTunes 11.0.2.26, an Albums search by track names returns albums as if they only have one track on them, but I still want to access the entire album. How can I have the search results show the entire album (with just the searched for name highlighted)? For instance, I'm wanting to play an album with a particular track on it or I'm searching for albums that include that track. iTunes incorrectly assumes that all I'm after is that one track and then incorrectly displays the album as if there is only one ttrack on it. This is a bonkers default setting. Can I change this?

Click the search magnifying glass and uncheck "Search entire library".
Type in the name of the track.
Click the album of interest to show tracks.
    Select the track.
Press the X in the search box to clear the search.
Double click the track you want to start playing first.

  • How can I export an audio track with just the effect signal without the audio?

I want to export dry audio tracks and their effects signals as separate tracks. For instance a track with a reverbed snare would be one track with the dry snare and one with just the reverb.
I know from people who use Reason that it's just a box you need to tick, but I'm struggling to find out how to do it in Logic. Surely it must be a way?

I don't remember Reason being that straight forward, but the obvious way to go, is to mute all sends and bounce.
Then solo the reverb channel, in aux, checking it isn't shared by other sources, and bounce. You should have a dry and a reverbed signal, at your convenience.

  • How do you export 4 discrete mono audio tracks with video from Adobe Premiere Pro 4/Adobe Encoder?

I've posted this question in different terms a few times and have not had an answer.  I can't find the answer on the Premiere Pro support site either (which makes me think that a simple solution doesn't exist)
We use adobe premiere pro 4.  We capture DVCAM tapes with 4 discrete audio channels.  When we export the video using adobe encoder, the result is stereo tracks with the discrete audio channels mixed together which is completly useless to us.  When I select Mono for the output settings, two channels of audio are mixed into one audio channel.  Also useless.
When capturing the clip, we always use the mono timeline and modify the clips to mono. We can edit the discrete audio channels but when we export the video, the audio is mixed down.
this is the problem.  Each of our  4 audio channels contain a different language of dialogue.  When exported, these 4 get mixed down to 2 mixed channels blending of course the language.
Can Premiere Pro 4 export discrete mono audio channels?  How do you do it?
Does version 6 have the ability to export 4 discrete mono channels?

    Hi Steve,
Important info is missing from your post - what format are you wanting to export to, and for what purpose? We need to know how the exported file is intended to be used. Who's going to view it, using what gear? Is it for another editor to work with? End user viewing?
    Thanks

  • Can you export a Quicktime with multiple audio tracks?

I have a video with split audio tracks.
I'd like to archive a copy that retains all the individual tracks so that other people could just open the file later and not have to reconstruct the tracks (i could certainly archive all the tracks individually).
the problem i'm having is that FCP seems to only want to allow me to export 2 tracks of audio. I may be missing a setting, but i'm not sure.
I can digitize a clip from a digibeta with 4+ tracks, and when i open the clip in QT, it recognizes the individual tracks, so it seems as if the capabilities are there.
have they just not been integrated yet?

Something is being miscounted here. You say you have dialog on 1+2 and then say you have M&E on 2+3? I think you meant to say 3+4 and the stereo mix will be on 5+6. The easiest way to do this is to copy tracks 1-4 to tracks 5-8 by shift-option-dragging them there. Holding option will copy the tracks instead of moving them and holding shift will insure that the tracks will not move earlier or later. Then send 5+6 (dialog) to the 5+6 output (using the info in the above referenced discussion) and send 7+8 (music&effects) also to the 5+6 output. Done.

  • How to export a QT with eight audio tracks

Hi  All. I want to export a sequence with 8 separate audio tracks (interviews on 1&2, music on 7&8, sound effects and ambient sound on the others) so that the resulting QT has 8 separate and distinct tracks, matching the tracks in FC.
The goal is for a future editor at the TV station I work at to be able to take the video and ambient audio, but use different music.
In sequence settings, I've got 'audio output' set to 8, with each grouping checked 'dual Mono'. But when I export, I get a QT with a mixed down stereo pair on channels 1 and 2 (with audio from all the FC tracks), and six empty tracks.

I have a video tutorial...goes into a bit more detail, including how to make those 8 options happen:

  • Exporting 6 channel discrete mono tracks (5.1 mix) I only get 2 tracks with compressed audio and 4 empty track on my output.

Exporting 6 channel discrete mono tracks (5.1 mix) I only get 2 tracks with compressed audio and 4 empty track on my output. I'm using Premiere Pro CC14, sequence settings and export setting pasted below.  Please help need to export feature trailer for iTunes release next week.  Yikes!!!

Thanks for the notes.  Im almost there but not quite.  I create my sequence 5.1 like you said
then map the dots and LFE.  But when I go export media is only give me the option of 1 track 5.1 not 6 discrete channels.
I check my settings and they LOOK right
then I go into my modify clip settings and I see the number of audio tracks as 1 so maybe thats why Im getting only 1 channel 5.1.
But when I select different settings in modify clip environment I can get it to LOOK correct to me
everything seems to be assigned correctly.  But when I go back to export it only still gives me the same option of exporting with 5.1 as a single track.

  • Exporting Single Audio Track with Panning

    Hi all,
Is there a way of exporting a single audio track with all the panning included?
All the FX seems to have been exported onto the track and it is also definatly stereo, its just there is no panning even though I have drawn the panning out in the automation!
Any help would be much appreciated!!!!

Either use Solo and bounce or use a gain plug. Export is prefader.

  • Exporting single tracks of video

what is the command for selecting to export a single video track? I want to export each track separately to send to another editor so they will have to be synched up when he gets them.
    thamks

Select all the clips on the track. Press cmd and C keys. Open a new Sequence, press cmd and V keys. Export the new Sequence.
Or use the Media Manager to copy the entire project including unused media. Send them the disk with the project on it. They have your cut as a reference and the rest of the files to change as they see fit.

  • Export individual tracks in Multi-track session (foley) to be mixed by another Engineer?

I have a multi-track session containing 12 tracks of foley for a film.
All audio has been placed at specific points on the timeline to match the action in the film.
The audio files will be passed on to another engineer who will add them to the existing soundtrack & foley for the film.
I would like to export each track in my multi-track session so that the sync'ing will be maintained.
I was hoping I could export/render out a single .wav file that would be the total length of the time line for each track.  Then all the Engineer needs to do is line up each audio file as a specific point in the movie, and all the sync'ing would be correct.
How can I do this in Soundbooth?
    OF
Is there another method I could use to accomplish this?
Thanks sooo much for your help.
    Hugh

I need to have a better play with this tonight as i didn't get much time last night, but my initial stab at this wasn't overly successful.
The tracks are all different lengths and if i solo a track, then export it, the export will still run to the end of the longest track giving me a chunk of silence at the end.
So i did a little hunting and found something along the lines of a clip area (from memory - a yellow line along the top of the timeline) which sounded like it would do what i wanted, but my first attempt still produced lots of silence at the end.
Oh, i've also lost where i specify the iTunes export to be AAC rather AIF.
Is there a good url for picking all this up rather than bugging this list?
