Exporting & Importing Contexts in ODI 10g

Hi,
I am using ODI 10g.
I want to export Contexts from topology manager from my ODI test environment and import those contexts in ODI production environment.
My requirement is that I want to export & import the contexts using some scripts and not manually.
What steps can I follow for this?
Thanks,
Divya

Hi Divya,
Personally i feel rather than exporting individual components/objects, its suggested to export master repository as such.
You can make use of ODI utility OdiExportMaster (under <ur package>->Tools->Oracle Data Integrator Objects) for exporting and Import Master Repository wizard (All Programs->Oracle-> Oracle Data Integrator->Repository Management-> Master Repository Import )for importing.
Thanks,
Guru.

  • Problem when exporting and importing project from odi 10g to odi 11g

    Hi,
I want to migrate my project from odi 10g to odi 11g.
But when i am importing the interface then it is giving the error of mising references .
I have exported the project(without its child component),models
(including my datastore),KM's,folder (without its child component),packages(with child components),interaces(with child components),procedures(with child components),variables from odi 10g.
After exporting all these objects i imported all the objects with import type set as "Synonym mode insert" into odi 11g but when i imported the interface it is giving the error of missing references.
Source technolgy is Oracle and target technolgy is Postgres.
Topologies have been made in the ODI 11g same as in ODI 10g.
    Please help.

You dont need to migrate the complete repository. You can migrate a project at a time into ODI 11.1.1.5.x
You have to be careful while importing. You have to follow a sequence when importing.
Empty Project -> KMs -> Models (with DB Stores) -> Variable -> Empty Folders -> Interfaces -> Procedures -> Packages ---- All in SYNONYM mode insert (no exceptions)
And your repository id in 11g MUST be different from the one in 10g.

To do a proper upgrade, I would go through the Upgrade Guide make sure my server hardware and configuration met pre-requirement, there's no compatibility issue between my applications and newly upgraded server etc.
The Guide is very detailed and thorough.
I really don't think there's a document that is both simple and in details.
The upgrade guide even has a section specially talk about export/import option

  • Exporting/importing policies in OAM 10g

How can I export/import policies in 10.1.4.3? Is there a command-line tool for this? Appreciate any advice.
    Thanks,
    Alex

    Hi,
You can do this by migrating the LDAP data, since all the config/policy data is stored in the LDAP.
Here are a high level steps of what might be required -
(Note: These may not be the complete tasks which you might have to do, and may differ for your settings).
-> Ensure the LDAP (in both envs) are of the same version, and the schema are the same.
-> If the schema has been copied as well, make sure the references have been changed (hostname, IP, etc, if any).
-> Take a backup of the the data in the from/to environment(s).
-> Export the config data (and policy data if req) from the existing env into an ldif file using LDAP commands or using an LDAP Editor (Eg: Apache Directory Studio).
-> Change references (hostname, IP, etc, (if any)) to match the new environment settings. (Eg: obDBAgentHost).
-> Import the ldif file in the new environment.
-> Ensure the components (LDAP, OIS, AAA, Webserver) comes up fine in the new environment. (After installing/configuring the required OAM components).
    -> Reconfig components if necessary.

  • Database Migration 10g, difference in export/import from 8.1.6 and DBUA

i would like to know if there is any difference in migrating using export/import methods from 8.1.6 and migration using dbua from 8.1.6 -> 8.1.7 -> 10g. In terms of tablespaces, datafiles performance .
Will the DBUA convert the tablespaces automatically to take advantage of 10g ?
    Thanks .

    Hi,
If we refer to the Oracle doc, it's depend of your 10g release.<br>
Into Upgrade Paths 10.2, you need to upgrade your 8i firstly in 8.1.7.4.<br>
Into Upgrade Paths 10.1, you you can directly migrate.<br>
Anyway, you need to use 8iexp utility, and 10g imp utility : Using Different Releases of Export and Import 10.1 or Using Different Releases of Export and Import 10.2.<br>

  • Suggestion needed in export/import ODI topology from one machine to other

    Hi,
I am trying to export all ODI topologies from one machine(A) to other machine(B).Can I export/import whole topology. While doing the same whether created repositories and existing topolgy in machine (B) would be replaced.I don't want to get the existing things in machine(B) to be replaced. Can anyone suggest on this?

you can always select the Import Mode as 'INSERT' if you don't want anything to be overwritten. Yes, you can export/import the topology, logical topology, execution environment by using the options in the Topology tab(top right corner dropdown).

    nidhiHi Nidhi,
No, if you want to use an 11g export dump and import it using 10g utilities to a 10g database.
Yes, if you use 10g export utility to extract 11g database data, and use 10g import utility to import in 10g database.

  • 11gR2 to 10g Export/Import

    Hello,
Does exporting from Oracle 11gR2 and importing to Oracle 10g work?

    Alex,
this forum deals with migrations from foreign databases to Oracle. Your export/import question should be better posted in this forum:

  • 10g export/import utility

    Hi,
I imported a couple of tables using the export and import utilities. Here is a break down of the process.
    -Exported SH schema as SH.
-Created a new user 'HT' as sys, granted it resource and connect roles.
-Ran import utility as HT and imported only 2 tables (sales & products) from the schema export .dmp file.
-The import runs successfully, saying the tables have been imported.
-I run a select against user_tables as HT to find the imported tables, which returns no rows selected.
    Why is this?

    Hello,
How did you exported the tables?
If you are cloing the entire schema and using conventional export/import utility then do following
    exp system/manager owner=userA file=userA.dmp log=userAexport.log
imp system/managet fromUser=userA toUser=userB file=userA.dmp log=userBimport.logAnd if you are importing just couple of tables then do following
    exp username/password tables=table1,table2 file=tables.dmp log=tableexport.log
    imp username/password tables=table1,table2 file=tables.dmp log=tableimport.log rows=Y ignore=Y
#With tables (make sure table doesn't exists in target schema).
imp username/password tables=table1,table2 file=tables.dmp log=tableimport.log YOu can also use datapump but it has different options and I recommend you should refer to oracle documenation for using datapump.

  • Memory Limitation on EXPORT & IMPORT Internal Tables?

    Hi All,
I have a need to export and import the internal tables to memory. I do not want to export it to any data base tables. is there a limitation on the amount of memroy that is can be used for the EXPORT & IMPORT. I will free the memory once I import it. The maximum I expect would be 13,000,000 lines.
    Thanks,
    Alex (Arthur Samson)

You don't have limitations, but try to keep your table as small as possible.
Otherwise, if you are familiar with the ABAP OO context, try use Shared Objects instead of IMPORT/EXPORT.

  • Best choice for exporting / importing EUL

    Hi all
I have been tasked with migrating an EUL from a R11 to a R12 environment. The Discoverer version on both environments is 10.1.2 and the OS is Solaris on oracle db's.
I am unfortunately not experienced with Discoverer and there seems to be no one available to assist for various reasons. So I have been reading the manual and forum posts and viewing metalink articles.
I tried exporting the entire eul via the wizard and then importing it to the new environment but i was not successfull and experienced the system hanging for many hours with a white screen and the log file just ended.
I assumed this was a memory problem or slow network issues causing this delay. Someone suggested I export import the EUL in pieces and this seemed to be effective but I got missing item warnings when trying to open reports. This piece meal approach also worried me regarding consistency.
So I decided to try do the full import on the server to try negate the first problem I experienced. Due to the clients security policies I am not able to open the source eul and send it to our dev. I was able to get it from their dev 11 system but I dismissed this as the dev reports were not working and the only reliable eul is the Prod one. I managed to get a prod eex file from a client resource but the upload to my server was extremely slow.
I asked the dba to assit with the third option of exporting a db dump of the eul_us and importing this into my r12 dev environment. I managed this but had to export the db file using sys which alleviated a priviledge problem when logging in, I have reports that run and my user can see the reports but there are reports that were not shared to sysadmin in the source enviroment are now prefixed with the version 11 user_id in my desktop and the user cannot see her reports only the sysadmin ones.
I refreshed the BA's using a shell script I made up which uses the java cmd with parameters.
After some re reading I tried selecting all the options in the validate menu and refreshing in the discover admin tool.
If I validate and refresh the BA using the admin tool I get the hanging screen and a lot of warnings that items are missing( so much for my java cmd refresh!) and now the report will not open and I see the substitute missing item dialogue boxes.
My question to the forum is which would be the best approach to migrate the entire eul from a R11 instance to a R12 instance in these circumstances?
    Many thanks
    Regards
    Nick

    Hi Srini
The os and db details are as follows:
    Source:
    eBus 11.5.2
    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
    SunOS 5.10 Generic_142900-11 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V890
    Target:
    ebus 12.1.2
    Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0 - 64bit Production DEV12
    SunOS 5.10 Generic_142900-11 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V890
Yes the DBA initially did an exp for me using EUL_US as the owner but a strange thing happened with privileges and also, some of the imported tables appeared in the target environment under the apps schema(21 tables) even though the eul_us exp had been 48 tables.
I also had a problem on the db with "eul_us has insufficient privileges on table space discoverer" type errors.
I checked the eul_us db privileges and was unable to resolve this initial privilege error even though the privileges were granted to eul_us.
The dba managed to exp as system and then import it with the full=y flag in the import command which seems to bring in the privileges.
Then I ran the eul5_id.sql and then made up a list of the business areas and made a sh script to refresh the business areas as follows:
    java -jar eulbuilder.jar -connect sysadmin/oracle1@dev -apps_user -apps_responsibility "System Administrator" -refresh_business_area "ABM Activities" -log refresh.log
This runs successfully and I can log in select business area and grant access to the users. The reports return data.
Then one of the users said she can't see all her reports. I noticed some if I opened desktop that were sitting there prefixed with a hash and her version 11 user id.
So back to the manuals and in the disco admin help the instructions are to first go to view > validate > select all options then go to the business area and click file refresh. This gives me a lot of warnings about items that are missing. I assume this is because the item identifiers brought across in the db dump are the version 11 ones and thus not found in the new system.
    Any suggestions?
    Many thanks
    Nick

  • Problem in importing data in oracle 10g from 9i backup

    Hi ,
Am trying to import data in oracle 10g..but it does not importing constraints, and stop doing anything by the msg.
    About to enable constraints.....
after this msg it does not work.
    plz help,
    Regards,
    Neha

    Hi Neha,
You have a lot of options. I'll supose you can test first, and you're using an export file.
First forget about the data, think in your database structure. So you can do this:
    exp userid=... file=exp_norows.dmp full=y rows=n statistics=none
Now you have the structure of your database. Create the database, in 10g, empty, check you have all filesystem, etc. for you new datafiles. And do the import with parameter ignore=y, you'll see a lot off errors on SYSTEM schema, don't worry about it.
Now you have the structure of you database in 10g. You can take a look in the import log file, looking for some possible errors come from your schemas. so check the objects, and check the schemas.
Bear in mind things like CONNECT role in 9i it's different in 10g, you can't create db_links in 10g with "IDENTIFIED BY VALUES" because you'll get an ORA-00600, etc.
Well, fix all problems on source database (9i) and repeate this procedure until you don't recieve any more errors (not a SYSTEM schema errors).
When you have everything solved, you can try to import the data.
I hope, this method can help you. If you have any problem do not hesitate to ask me.
