Exports from eyeTV at AppleTV quality no longer play on iPhone?

Before getting an iPhone 3G, I exported recordings from EyeTV 3 in AppleTV quality (720 x 480) and watched them on my iPod touch. The iPhone, however, doesn't seem able to play these, and, iTunes won't even sync them to the iPHone. What happened? Does this relate to the 2.x software?
As I expect to eventually get an AppleTV, I'd like to keep exporting recordings at the AppleTV quality, but now, it seems I have to export twice: once for AppleTV and once for the iPhone. What a waste.
Anyone have a solution for this problem? Any way to export at a higher quality level that will play back fine on both the AppleTV and the iPHone?

I just thought I should point out this is a rather rude reply, aside from not being helpful. You point out some confusing information on elgato's site, and then attribute the confusion to the person asking the question. Let's re-iterate a few things.
The video dimensions given for the AppleTV export come straight out of the interface dialog boxes in the eyeTV software. These are default settings from the software, things he explained he doesn't see how he could change.
You look at the --look at the text-- Max setting for Turbo.264's output and suggest the problem is with Turbo.264's default settings? You make no sense. Do you really think that with the main purpose for this product, ripping to AppleTV and iPod formats, that the default would be off spec? So first don't be so quick to just blame the other company. But 2nd, for your professional communication sake, don't be so quick to blame the user, especially when one has laid out, in a number of angles, different things he has tried. This is clearly NOT a "you're just confused about what you're doing" problem--the problem lies in changes in iPhone software and the encoding settings--not simple stuff. Take it from a writing teacher--keep your focus on the issue and the information, not blaming the person. It does you no good, does the other person no good, and only creates ill feeling. When simply pointing out confusing mis-match of information would position you, in contrast, as at least generally helpful.

When I export files from EyeTV to iTunes, either manually or scheduled, m4v files are created in ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/TV Shows. These files are not recognised by iTunes until I select the files in iTunes - File - Add to Library, manually, and iTunes then moves them into subfolders within the previous folder. Call back and explain that you are not attempting to get troubleshooting support for the device, but for the iMessage service, which is related to iCloud, and they should be able to grant an exception for that. The $19 fee is supposed to be only for troubleshooting a hardware issue, not for a service issue.
For example, you can have an iTunes account without even owning an Apple device. I can use iTunes on my Windows PC. There's no hardware to support, so the 90-days limitation doesn't apply.
If they refuse to offer support, then ask for a Senior Advisor.

If you are seeing a cloud icon, they are not actually on your device, just available to download. If you wish to turn this off: Settings app > Videos > Show All Videos [turn OFF]. This is also available in for the Music and iBooks apps.

MOV exported from Keynote - last slide disappears, audio continues playing

I have a series of three mov files that were created in & exported from Keynote. They are audio & slide shows that are to autoplay on a website. Two of the files function as expected once embedded in the website, one does not; the last slide drops out (displaying a white screen) while the audio continues for approximately 30 seconds until the mov file ends. To add confusion to the issue ALL the files play as expected using Safari (on Win & Mac). Using Firefox on Mac delivers the "broken" results. Using ANY browser on Windows yields the broken result.

Since I am trying to do a number of things with Keynote, I read these discussions looking for opportunities and pitfalls.
I read your message, and saw your outcome as an issue. Since I've yet to add the soundtrack to my current project, I needed to know more about the outcome before I proceeded, in order to adjust accordingly.
I took my project, and added a song as the soundtrack. I played the slideshow, and the soundtrack played along, across the slides as it should. I then began to record the slideshow, but the soundtrack came playing through the speakers and was being picked up by the microphones, so I offed the speakers, donned my headphones, and re-began the recording. The soundtrack was playing (in the headphones), and I was narrating across many slides.
I played the recorded slideshow, and all was present - soundtrack and recorded narration.
I exported to Quicktime, sending the output to a new folder so that it could easily be found, along with anything else that might be generated. Upon completion, there was only one movie file in the folder. I opened and played it in Quicktime. It was perfect - slides looked good, narration was there, and the soundtrack was playing in the background.
This outcome appears to be your objective, so I'm not sure what I did differently than you, but from this experience, it works as should be expected.

Songs i purchased from itunes months ago play fine on my computer in itunes, but are no longer playing on my iphone. they appear in the playlist, but won't play. i took all the music off my phone and synced all over again, and they still won't play. I don't know why only about a dozen songs are affected. they were purchased at different times since last summer. I recently experienced the "lost contacts" issue and had to restore my phone from backup. could that have something to do with this?

Are these songs purchased from the iTunes store, or from your own cds?

Best way to export from AVCHD to highest quality possible

I just got the Canon HF200, a AVCHD Camcorder and new to Premiere Pro CS4.
Does anyone have the time and is willing to explain what would be the best way to export AVCHD source material after editing ?
I'm interested in the best quality you can get out of AVCHD.
It would be nice to have a list of the settings in Premiere to be customized (i.e. setting up new project, exporting format settings and so on) to have the best quality of the footage exported.

Geezus the guy just wants a simple answer.
MASTER FILE / FOR YOUR BLU RAY PLAYER / ARCHIVAL
1) use the Bluray H.264 preset to get a Bluray master. Best quality, takes a while to encode though.
Unless it's a five hour movie I'm pretty sure it'll fit on a BD disc.
GENERAL RULE OF THUMB FOR ARCHIVAL AND MASTER FILES: try to match the final product with your source file.
If your source is H.264/AVCHD export in that format too (In this case, Bluray H264 preset)
If it's 1080i then export as such
If it's 24Mbps then use that bitrate to export as too. Etc. etc. etc.
Now that's for archiving - getting the best looking Master file. Uploading your movie to the web is different...
IF YOU'RE GOING TO SHOW YOUR MOVIE ON THE WEB
1) use that Bluray master (or encode directly from your CS 4 timeline if you have the time) to WMV.
Choose the NTSC setting and then customize it.
640 x 360 or 575 x 324 sizes are good; Make sure to use the SQUARE pixels option since the sizes here are figured for that. Keyframes every 2 seconds, or every 5 seconds if there's not a lot of movement and background business going on. In the 1000 - 1600 kbps range is good (larger dimensions = higher bitrate).
Audio 96/44 is fine.
Choose 2 Pass Variable Bitrate for best quality/size ratio.
If you're using CS4 it'll automatically deinterlace when you encode to WMV. In other programs you need to check "Deinterlace".
2) Flash (FLV) is popular too. Same sizes, you can get away with lower bitrates than WMV. Requires special players either on the web or on the users' desktop so only do this if you feature the movie on your site and you know how to make a SWF file with your FLV embedded.
Lost me here? Then just forget Flash for now.
Other Primer Notes (VERY GENERALIZED SPEAKING):
Forget MPEG 1. Bad quality/size ratio compared to WMV.
Use MPEG 2 for archival purposes, but use high bitrates (like 1920 x 1080 @ 24 Mbps or similar. )
Quicktime is good for archiving too but takes a long time to encode on PCs. Not worth it for web delivery anymore... although there will be Mac fanatics disagreeing with me right now.

Exporting from Final Cut Pro - Quality of AfterEffects Text Graphics

I am once again struggling with Final Cut Pro exports in terms of the look and quality of AfterEffects graphics.
I have AfterEffects MOV files that look fine as is (both as Animation and as Apple Pro Res) and they look fine on the timeline in FCP 7. When I export though from FCP (in multiple ways - H.246, AppleProRes, 1080/720, etc.), the graphics within the exported video are breaking up and look pixellated. Any advice? This is very hard to tell because, first, we don't know anything at all about your export settings, frame rate, frame size or even how you are judging the quality, and second, this is not a Final Cut Pro forum. There are a bunch of FCP users that use AE but if everything looks great coming out of AE as a rendered DI (digital intermediate) and your are using the DI in FCP then the problem is in Final Cut.
Maybe a better explanation of the process in FCP and some screenshots or examples of the rendered from FCP vs the rendered from AE would help us figure out what is going on.

Export from Crystal Reports to .ttx takes long time

We have multiple sites running the same Crystal report. The report can run and present data in an hour resulting in thousands of records. Then we need the report to be exported into tab-separated text. The export can take 10-12 hours for some of the sites. Could this be a Crystal Reports issue?...Some are running CR10 and some CRXI? We are not sure if it is a systems issue or a Crystal Reports issue. Can anyone help?

Multiple things could be causing this. If you go to the fastest machine, does it have better network access, more mem, etc...
Or, is it just closer to the data source, than the slowest. I would take the quickest, and the slowest and try to isolate
the differences between those two. Honestly, could be anything. Patch levels of CR, Operating system, ODBC Drivers, maybe even printer drivers.
if you find your self exporting to tab delimited quite a bit, it might be worth redesigning the report,
you could add the tabs between the fields in one huge formula. our several smaller ones,
{Item 1} & chr(10) & {Item 2} & chr(10) & {Item 3} & chr(10) & {Item 4}....
anyway, then you could just output standard txt, and your tabs will already be imbedded.
That may buy you some speed.

Since latest version of iTunes, streaming from movies to AppleTV is no longer continuasly. How to be helped?is

Halfway through a movie or tv programme, streaming stops. I have to re-activate my iMac in order to activate streaming again. When streaming stops, there is no home sharing, not just the movie.

AppleTV will no longer play movies

I have been using AppleTV for years now and have loved it...till now!
I've purchased lots (over 200) of movies through iTunes and watch them on my AppleTV. The movies are streaming from the iTunes service (via Internet), NOT from a computer running iTunes.
Recently, I cannot watch any of my movies. AppleTV says "Movie will be available in X.xx hours". It ranges everywhere from 4 hours to over 22 hours. Once it was less than an hour, so I let it sit. It never changed and never played the movie.
I bought a brand new AppleTV and made sure the software was the latest...no difference.
I tried using my iPad Air to play the movie...no difference.
I tried streaming NetFlix (on the AppleTV) and it worked fine. So the problem is NOT my network.
I tried power cycling the AppleTV...no difference.
I unplugged the power cord from the AppleTV to hard cycle it...no difference.
I actually have 4 AppleTV's and they ALL have the same problem. It is EXTREMELY unlikely that all 4 would fail the same way at the same time. As a side note...I am NOT trying to watch (stream) movies from them at the same time.
I have two separate physical locations with two separate internet connections. The problem is exhibited on both networks. Which is further evidence that it is not my network.
Occationally, I CAN watch movies on my AppleTV, but only about 10% of the time.
I have Comcast as my internet provider. Other services seem to work just fine (netflix, online gaming, etc.) so I don't think I am having service provider problems,
I think that either Apple's streaming service is maxed out or Apple and Comcast are fighting (negotiating) over internet bandwidth.
Is anyone else having problems?

Netflix adapts to the connection. iTunes content is fixed, and will need to load a portion before playback begins.
It is best to troubleshoot the network to truly rule things out.
What is your current connection, via speedtest.net
Make sure DNS is set to automatic (settings - general - network)
If on wifi try Ethernet
Make sure router is up to date, reboot along with ATV
There may also be ISP throttling

You want the apps deleted from your iTunes library?
If you don't have Install selected for an app in your iTunes library, it won't be installed on your iPhone.
If you want the apps deleted from your iTunes library, select Apps under Library in the iTunes source list. Locate the apps you want to delete, select the apps there followed by deleting the apps.

Movie bought from itunes in 2008 will no longer play?

Ok I bought the movie the notebook in 2008. I changed laptops this year and had the tehnician transfer all my files to my new laptop (muisc/videos). Now the movie will not play in itunes or any other music player. The video player comes up, but the screen itself just remains blank. I purchased the movie through itunes with the same email address I use now. When I try to play it, it says it is not authorized. Guys I HAVE authorized this computer, and have deauthorized all the computers and then attempted to authorize it again. It still will not play. I also have unistalled itunes to no avial. This isn't the only movie that is like that, all the movies I purchased in 2008-2009 will not come up through my purchases on my account to report a problem. But when I go to the movie in itunes itself it states it was purchased from me with the same email address I use now.
I just want to be able to wath the movies I bought years ago without paying for them again. Anybody know how to fix this? Btw this has happend before, but apple support fixed it. Now I can't find the way to reach them, without them charging for asking a question. Gssh...

The recording sounds great through headphones from the mac and headphones from my phone but listen to it through speakers from my phone and it sounds hollow and tinny. I've made other recordings that sound full and rich. Any ideas?

When playing a photo album from Macbook Pro on Apple tv the videos in the album won't play. Is this fixed in settings?

I don't believe that is possible. It may be best to have those videos stored in iTunes if you wish to home-share/airplay them.
