EXS samples truncated when using Mainstage

I have had this problem intermittently since my initial use of Mainstage. It sounds like there is a gate on the samples or perhaps they stop at their respective loop points, like loop has been turned off. No natural decay or sustain they just stop playing and when you let off the key you hear a sound like they had an inverted envelope on them, strange1
This happens with any exs instrument, but does not happen when I use EVP/EVD6/EVB3. This problem occurs both on my Mac Pro and my Macbook Pro. I have tried disconnecting my controller re-instantiating the exs plugins, the only thing I have found that works is rebooting Mainstage and that is rather embarrassing in the middle of a show.

I failed to mention that this problem occurs just using the headphone out or my Apogee Ensemble.I found the previous posts on this issue from April of this year and from the looks of it there was no resolution.
Seems as if they reverted back to Mainstage 1, which I have never even used and undoubtedly will not load a Mainstage 2 file......

Data truncation when using resultset.getString() to a char type field

Sampling frequency when using USB6251 for SemiPeriod measurement

Hi there.
I am using the USB-6251 for frequency measurement. I use C# and the latest 8.5 drivers for .Net 3.5.
My question is this:
I have CounterInputChannel with MeasurementType=SemiPeriod.
The TimeBaseSource is "80MHzTImebase" and Prescaler is 1.
The reported minimum (CICHannel.Minimum property) is 25ns - 40MHz
I am measuring frequency on a 32.768kHz crystal which should be pretty stable and accurate. The measurements suggest that the samplerate is actually 20MHz, not 40MHz. This also makes sense, because if I try to create a frequency measurement, I am forced to use a divisor of 4 or more - which gives a sampling rate of 20MHz.
So my question is this: Is the reported minimum as read from CIChannel.Miminum wrong?

EXS sampler crashing on "new instrument"

Every time I try to create a custom instrument using the EXS sampler, I follow the steps in this tutorial:

But when I get to Instrument > New, I get the dreaded rainbow pinwheel, Logic 8 becomes unresponsive and I have to Force Quit.
Any ideas what might be causing this?

i needed to add .exs extension to unix files, then copy to user/home/library/app supp/logic/sampler instr/ folder
the .wav files were copied to user/home/library/app supp/logic/audio files folder
works like a charm

i got the cd from Sample Magic. it's called Transmission-X

Logic hangs when loading EXS samples on a session that worked yesterday?

I'm using Logic 8.0.2, I try to open session I was working on yesterday and it now won't open? it seems to not be able to find the EXS samples, as it hangs on the grey bars that show Logic trying to find the relevent samples. it takes forever to look and then eventually slips into 'logic not responding' when I look at the pre-force quit window.
This bug is making my life **** at the moment as I have very tight deadlines on picture work, it seems Logic 9 doesn't fix this as others have reported it so I don't want to use that until it's working without any bugs [ LOL! ]. I have 9 installed on a seperate drive when it's worthy of being used.
Been having this problem for at least 8 months now, I've tried 100's of times running disk utility, and preferential treatment I did try about 3 months ago running a spotlight utility but it didn't make any difference.
I have millions of samples spread on multiple drives, this has worked for me for years and years and only now has started to be a problem so 'moving your exs samples to a default area' is no use to me there must be another solution.

I know there're other threads about this [ and it doesn't seem to be being fixed ], apple needs to realise the urgency of this problem.

I have 5 drives totalling about 2 TB of stuff which are my working non-application drives, when rebuilding spotlight index in Onyx the rebuilding takes about 5 seconds so I'm not sure that's actually doing anything at all?
this doesn't happen on every session I can normally re-open something but if it refuses to open I have to run disk utility and preferential treatment, restart and try again. this doesn't always work straight away, it can take like 3 x repeats of this / restarts until the session opens again which obviously is hugely disruptive with deadlines.
I heard that opening a session from 'within' Logic works better and I've been doing this but although it seems a little more reliable I'm still at the same point now where on average 1 in 4 sessions won't open and I have to go through the boring routine of disk utility, etc.

EXS 24 crashes when I load any sample. Is there a fix for this, perhaps an install / reinstall poison as such? Any help would be very grateful.

Logic pro runs a track and then mainstage is used to play a selection of patches whilst the track is playing. Both applications work together seamlessly and mainstage easily opens the patches, the problem is mainstage is detuning the chosen patches by a semitone and therefore I have to play a semitone lower in order to play with the backing track and this gets very confusing when jumping between software and hardware sounds!
When I play with the same midi controller through a channel strip in Logic pro there are no problems, however when i jump to using mainstage there is a problem.
Has anyone else encountered this? Any fixes?

Could anyone elaborate on this? I am particularly interested in knowing under what circumstances this problem arises for the 6602 PCI devices.
How should I understand 'NI 660x and NI 6624 on counters 0 and 1'. Is it only a problem on counter 0 and 1 for the 660x or does this only apply for the 6624 devices.

How do i ensure my sampling rate is a constant and correct (@250Hz) when using AI Sample Channel vi

I am running a VI that samples 2 channels using the AI Sample Channel vi within a for loop (executing equal to the number of samples i require), i then calculate the difference between the channels. Within the for loop i use a chart to displays this difference in realtime.
On exiting the loop the data is converted to an array, which in turn i then convert to a waveform (using dT as 0.01 as an arbitary solution at the moment). The waveform is then compared to limits using the limit specs and limit testing vi's.
There is also other code displaying graphs from the previous iterations of the VI.
My question is how do i control the aquisition rat
e so that i know that the AI Sample Channel vi is sampling my data at a set rate (250Hz)?
I have tried to use some of the hardware timed exaples supplied by NI to no avail. They can't give me the single point output required within the initial for loop for the real-time display.
Any solutions welcome!!

How about buffered acquisition? You can let your DAQCard acquire the number of samples you require instead of doing it with a FOR loop. Using a FOR loop means that you are software timed, which may as well be untimed since it's about as deterministic as the weather in Florida.
Look for the "Acquire N Scans.vi" example.
If you want to do this the RIGHT way, use continuous acquisition. Start your acquisition and keep doing AI Read in a loop. Also include your porcessing and display functions in the loop. Just make sure your loop runs fast enough to keep up with your acquisition. At 250 Hz, you should have no problem.

EXS sampler can't find the samples anymore...

there's hopefully/probably a simple solution to this problem but I'm too stupid to find it:
Overall info:
I bought a new Mac, installed a fresh OSX 10.5.5 system and used the immigration assistent to move my old user account including all applications from my old Mac (OSX 10.4.9) to the new one.
Of course I had to re-new all serial numbers, get new authorization codes for all the plug-ins, etc., etc. and now I'm stuck with the EXS24:
I had all my own samples on an external hard drive in a folder called Akai Samples. Then I had an Alias of this folder in the Library/Application Support/Logic. The Sampler Instruments ("xxxx.exs") are all located at User/Library/Logic/Sampler Instr.
When I opened an EXS instrument, it obviously loaded the AIF samples from the external hard disk. In case I had saved samples together with a song project in a specific folder, EXS even showed me both sample location when loading the instrument with a new song.
The problem:
Now when I open a blank new song and add an EXS24 with any sampler instruments, it starts looking for the required audio samples and then this process takes forever. I mean, the maximum I handled to wait was like 30 min. Logic is not crashed, it seems, but I guess it does, as it won't search the hard disks or at least won't find anything and most of all doesn't stop looking.Clicking "cmd+." doesn't help.
I also replaced this external hard disk with the samples with a new, additional internal hard disk. So if Logic searches for this old hard disk it's not there anymore.
This is really tricky when trying to open old songs. It's simply not possible anymore. Now is there a way to sort of refresh the library, deleting the Logic preferences did not really help.
Same situation also when I click on the Media button top right next to "Bouncing" and "Colors"... Once I click on sampler instrument, Logic starts looking and gets lost.
I would really appreciate any input, what I should do. Re-Install Logic maybe? Looks like I have a "Logic" folder in the "overall" library as well as in my user library. Is this one too much?

first of all thank you for the fast reply - it definitely helped me one step further as now the exs24 does load all MY instruments incl. the samples again. Fast and efficient.
But interesting side effect - now it doesn't load the factory instruments anymore. So at least 50% problem solved ... When I use the spotlight search function in the finder the samples are there, just not for Logic. I'll keep on trying...
(Ha, I could write another novel about re-authorizing 3rd party plug-ins or audio cards... such a hassle...)

How do I get rid of the EXS24 sample processing when I launch a project?

Whenever I launch a Logic project, I get a "Process" window that loads my EXS24 samples. This can be somewhat lengthy. I am using Logic 8 now, but this happened in Logic 7 as well; although, I don't remember it always being in place. Did I switch on a setting to do this for better performance or something? I really do feel as though I messed with a setting that loaded each EXS sample as opposed to streaming them off of my hard drive? Is this what I did? Can I switch it off? My computer is relatively capable still (G5 dual 2.7 running tiger with 6.5 gigs of RAM), so I should be okay with the streaming, right? thanks! I can't stand the awful processing anymore

Mixing when using external midi devices . . .

This is the first time I'm mixing a project using an external midi device. Formerly, using an older version of DP, I would record each track from the midi device into an audio track before mixing because those tracks don't "bounce" when mixing. Anybody here who uses external devices do it differently?

Using the external I/O plug in you can bounce your external midi instruments to audio tracks in realtime in logic, but you have to add the New multi instrument in the environment so that it can be represented in the external destination parameter of the EXternal I/O plug in.
At least I think this is how things work. You also need an audio interface with the outs of your hardware to the ins of the inputs and the midi cables configured.
But.. I think there is a latency issue there.. anyone know how to compensate for this? Like if I bounce a track in realtime in logic.. it records the time that it takes the audio to "get into" the software.. It never bounces a track right on the beat, as if I were to bounce a track from say the EXS sampler.. When I do it inside logic it bounces it right on the beat.. with no "dead space" beforehand.. but if I use external equipment there is always a lag.. any suggestions?

Migrating EXS Samples. Logic 6.4 - 8

I'm transferring my work from and old g4 powerbook to a new intel Macbook Pro.
I have a lot of unfinished projects on the Powerbook. What is the procedure for transferring my EXS library across?
If I copy the Sampler Instruments folder over, and the samples themselves, will Logic 8 find them? In fact I have no idea where Logic 8 stores samples for the EXS?
Just wondering if there is anything I need to know/watch out for...

Turns out I spoke too soon.
The EXS sampler cannot load the samples I have moved over. It says they are 'not found'. For example I have a drum breaks exs instrument that contains maybe 80 drum loops. When the sampler opens it says it can't find the files, but the name of them seems to have been changed. Random letters and numbers have been added. For example there is a drum break entitled
AfricanMusic_Machine_-Tropical.wav
But Logic says it can't find AfricanMusicMachineAEE36.wav
When I check the sample's name outside of logic it looks ok again.
Some of the samples load. But very few. If I go to the instrument editor the samples' names are present but they have an explanation mark next to them.
If I click on the exclamation mark and choose 'Open Audio File', I choose the correct file from my sample library but Logic says 'File name too long'.
Any help here would be much appreciated. Is there something I'm missing?
My move from a pb 1.5 to a MBP 2.4 has been totally plagued with problems (not just in Logic) and I'm beginning to wish I'd stayed with a G4 setup. The Trilogy and Atmosphere wrappers are pathetic (I am using them extensively in many an unfinished project)and I can't get Stylus to transfer over in my tracks either. The tracks are bare skeleton versions of what they were, nothing seems to be loading right.
It's all very frustrating.
