Extending af:convertDateTime (and binding property)

Hello,
I have an <af:convertDateTime> in the page:
<af:inputDate id="IDATE" value="#{row.bindings.Date.inputValue}">
    <af:convertDateTime pattern="#{bindings.TABLE.hints.Date.format}"/>
</af:inputDate>I want to customize the converter, but there is no "binding" property as with other components.
From our tests, the method "format" in the bean pointed by "pattern" seems to return a null String.
By googling we discovered that the class behind the converter is oracle.adf.rich.DateTime.
My question are:
1. Is it true that, in the case of a null String returned by "format", the converter acts internally by checking the current locale and providing a coherent format for the locale?
2. Why is not oracle.adf.rich.DateTime availble publicly and why is there no binding property?
3. What is the best approach to extend the converter?
Thanks.

Thanks for your answer, but I'll try to be more precise about my problem.
What we would really like to know is how that af:convertDateTime works internally and extend it's behaviour by custom providing a bean to "pattern" which behaves the following way, depending on the situation:
1. either return the same pattern String the converter would use internally by default
2. or return a custom String
but again, why isn't oracle.adf.rich.Date available?

  • Regarding Value and Binding properties of af:inputTextBox

    Hi All,
    I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.0. I want to set the value for af:inputTextBox from the backing bean.
    I observed there are two properties for this component, 'Value' and 'binding'.
    So, I thought of using 'Value' property. For this I created a property in my backing bean.
    Number textBoxValue; //Setter and getter methods for this ( I want to display numbers ans persist the same thats whay i have given as Number)
    and in one of my methods I had given,
    textBoxValue = new Number(12);
    I am able to display the value in the UI
    Here goes my queries, please clarify these.
    1) What is the need of these two properties?
    2) How can set value using the 'Binding' Property.
    3) Can I set value to the input using both properties?
    4) If 2nd point is correct then what will happen, if I set two different values to the textbox using these two components.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ravi.

    1) Binding is uses as an EL reference that will store the component instance on a bean. This can be used to give programmatic access to a component from a backing bean, or to move creation of the component to a backing bean.
    Value represents the value of the component. If the EL binding for the "value" points to a bean property with a getter but no setter, and this is an editable component, the component will be rendered in read-only mode.
    So they are different.
    2) You don't
    3) You don't
    4) as 2) in not correct this is not relevant
    If you want to set the value of a ui component from inside a bean you have different possible solutions. Lets assume you have a binding for The component to bean. In case of a input text the bean property would be of type RichInputText. Lets the property name be myIPT. Then you set the value as myIPT.setValue("YOUR VALUE"); (if the component shows text).
    If you have bound the value property of the component to a bean attribute (using EL) you only need the change the bean attribute.
    If the value is bound to a value binding (e.g. one that was generated by dragging a VO onto the page and dropping it as form), you get the the value binding by
    // GET A METHOD FROM PAGEDEF AND EXECUTE IT
    // get the binding container
    BindingContainer bindings = BindingContext.getCurrent().getCurrentBindingsEntry();
    // get an ADF attributevalue from the ADF page definitions
    AttributeBinding attr = (AttributeBinding)bindings.getControlBinding("NAME_OF_THE_ATTRIBUT");
    attr.setInputValue("test");Timo

  • Preview Mode and conflicting property values

    In this design mode, the red boxes have a border-weight: 0, border-color: none; background opacity: 47%. Gray boxes: border-weight: 1; border-color: none; background-opacity: 27%.
    In the preview mode, the gray boxes will show the border-weight that is set (by default) to one even though I specified the border-color as 'none'. The gray boxes will also cause content to shift downards.
    Using all red boxes in the design mode with both boder-weight: 0 and border-color: none.
    No problems whatsoever in the preview mode.
    So my point is, there seems to be  an issue with declaring a value in the border-weight property and then setting the value of the border-color property to none.

    Hi
    You can do that in two ways.
    One is from PA services provided by SAP. Other one is you care create a Generic service to load the values.
    1. In HRASR_DT tcode  select the process and create the backend service for SAP_PA and add the field Employee group (PERSG )  by choosing IT 0001 and screen element  then select the Input Help and check the box for PA service .
    2. Create a backend service and create the BADI and inside that do the logic to load the Employee group from FM and bind the value to the field.
    Please refer the Enhancement Implementation HRASR00_USER_NAME for the sample. Class CL_HRASR00_GS_USER_NAME.

  • Move elements in layout and bind the elements?

    Hi experts, I have sereval questions.
    1. In a view, I drag & drop a group to the layout and drap sereval elements on the group. But I can't move the elements to the next line. They were just arranged one after one and line after line. How can I move them as I want?
    2. Does it exist a "table" element for the layout? Where is it?
    3. Does it exist a "date select" button for the layout which allows me to see a calendar and select a date on clicking it? Where is it.
    4. I've  mapped and binded the context of Component Controller to my Window context. But when I want to map & bind Window Context to View Context, all of the elements of context are gray that I can't bind them to the UI elements on the layout. That's why? How can I bind them?
    Thank you a lot in advance!!!!!

    You have to use Layouts, you have GridLayout, FlowLayout, MatrixLayout and RowLayout
    Layout property is there for Groups, Transparent Containers
    2. Does it exist a "table" element for the layout? Where is it?
    Table UI element is not for Layouts, you have to use the Layouts mentioned above
    3. Does it exist a "date select" button for the layout which allows me to see a calendar and select a date on clicking it? Where is it.
    Take an Input Field and bind it with a Cotnext Attribute which of type DATS or dataelement which is a date type, then you can see calender automatically
    4. I've mapped and binded the context of Component Controller to my Window context. But when I want to map & bind Window Context to View Context, all of the elements of context are gray that I can't bind them to the UI elements on the layout. That's why? How can I bind them?

  • Binding property of a Panel header in Declarative Component

    Hi,
    I created a Custom Declarative component, which has a panel header, i wanted to expose the binding property of the panel header so that the users can add partial triggers to it programaticaly,
    so i added a attribute of type RichPanelHeader, and used it in bindings of the panel header, but i am getting following error,

      public RichPanelHeader getPanelHeader() {
        return panelHeader;
    }is there any solution or way to expose the binding property of any component in a custom declarative component?

    Hi,
    as a last resort, try javax.faces.component.UIComponent as the component class. It seems that none of the UI components implements serializable. javax.faces.component.UIComponent is the JSF base class that they all use.
    Let me know if this works. If not, I think I have another option that mayl do

  • Can't use binding property of a commanButton inside a datatable

    I have commandButtons inside a datatable.

                   this.index = index;

              public UICommand getDownBtn() {
                   return downBtn;
               * Sets button visibility.
              public void setBtnsVisibility (int snippetCount) {
                   upBtn.setRendered(index > 1);
                   downBtn.setRendered(index < snippetCount);
         }The two buttons are binded to the the pageSnippet's upBtn and downBtn objects in order to set their rendered status:
    <h:commandButton
    actionListener="#{pageEditBean.moveSnippet}" type="submit"
    image="../images/btn_up.png"
    binding="#{snippet.upBtn}"/>I got null nuinter exception, datable variable snippet is reported null
    and getter method of the backing bean getPageSnipets is not called at all.
    I got null nuinter exception even when rendered property of the datatable is false.
    When I remove binding property of the buttons everything works fine.
    When instead of binding property I use rendered property of the commandButton and in the getter metthods I return boolean:
    public boolean getUpBtn() {
                   return downBtn.isRendered();
              } Everything is OK as well.
    MyFaces 1.1.5
    JSDK 1.4.2_08
    Tomcat 4.1.3
    Have anybody encountered such problem?
    Is there any workaround?
    Or can anybody confirm that binding a commandButton to a backing UICommand object inside a datatable works for him?
    thanks in advance

    Thanks a lot.
    You're right, the backing bean has request scope.
    I found out (the hard way) that there's a bug in JSF that prevents a commandButton from working, when the button's rendered property is binded to a backing bean's property.
    But this solution works.
    But I got another problem:
    When I click the button, I got java.lang.NoSuchMethodError
    Even clicking the button outside the datatable returns the exception.
    Again, when I set the bean's scope to session it works.
    I don't understand that, except for the datatable business, commandButtons with other request scope beans work well.
    Thanks

  • Dynamic sql and bind variables

    Hi,
    I have a stored procedure which filters a table on 5 five columns. The filters come from the input parameters,
    and these 5 parameters can come in any combination, I mean some of them may be null and some of them may not be null.
    So I constructed the where filter of the query with IF blocks like the following:
    dynamic_query := 'select * from TESTTABLE where 1= 1';
    IF (P1 is not null) THEN
    dynamic_query := dynamic_query || ' AND column1 = :1';
    END IF;
    IF (P2 is not null) THEN
    dynamic_query := dynamic_query || ' AND column2 = :2';
    END IF;
    IF (P3 is not null) THEN
    dynamic_query := dynamic_query || ' AND column3 = :3';
    END IF;
    IF (P4 is not null) THEN
    dynamic_query := dynamic_query || ' AND column4 = :4';
    END IF;
    IF (P5 is not null) THEN
    dynamic_query := dynamic_query || ' AND column5 = :5';
    END IF;
    OPEN CUR_OUT FOR dynamic_query USING P1, P2, P3, P4, P5;
    The problem is how can I construct the USING and bind parameters, I cannot use "USING P1, P2, P3, P4, P5" because some of bind variables
    may not be in dynamic query if the input parameters are null. Is there a way to overcome this problem without writing all the 2 ^ 5 combinations?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    here it is in the Tomer Cohen way:
    IF (P1 is not null) THEN
    dynamic_query := dynamic_query || ' AND column1 = :1';
    ELSE
    dynamic_query := dynamic_query || ' AND  :1 IS NULL';
    END IF;
    IF (P2 is not null) THEN
    dynamic_query := dynamic_query || ' AND column2 = :2';
    ELSE
    dynamic_query := dynamic_query || ' AND  :2 IS NULL';
    END IF;
    IF (P3 is not null) THEN
    dynamic_query := dynamic_query || ' AND column3 = :3';
    ELSE
    dynamic_query := dynamic_query || ' AND  :3 IS NULL';
    END IF;
    IF (P4 is not null) THEN
    dynamic_query := dynamic_query || ' AND column4 = :4';
    ELSE
    dynamic_query := dynamic_query || ' AND  :4 IS NULL';
    END IF;
    IF (P5 is not null) THEN
    dynamic_query := dynamic_query || ' AND column5 = :5';
    ELSE
    dynamic_query := dynamic_query || ' AND -1 = :5';
    END IF;

  • Creating and Binding View Objects dynamically : Oracle Jdeveloper 11g

    Hello,
    We are trying to create and bind view objects dynamically to adf data visualization components.
    The view object is a result of multiple tables.
    We are using Oracle JDeveloper 11g Technical Preview. ( can't upgrade to TP2 or TP3 now).
    We have found this : http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2003/07/15/creatingUpdateableMultientityViewObjectDefinitionsDynamically.html on our search for the same.
    The sample application however, is in 10g , hence required migration.
    Also, it was a standalone application with the TestClient.java having a main() method.
    Our requirement is for Web Application; we use Adf+jsf .
    Guidance of any sort is very much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    -Anil Golla

    Hi,
    there also exist a forum for JDeveloper 11: JDeveloper and OC4J 11g Technology Preview
    What you are trying todo is not trivial because you need to not only dynamically create the VO, you would also dynamically need to create the binding meta data for it (assuming you use ADF). Not sure if the API to modify the binding is public, so posting it on the JDeveloper 11 forum bears a glimpse of hope for an answer
    In JDeveloper 10.1.3 you can't do this

  • How to use different mail address in "from" and "user" property?

    I'd like to use the user enter mail address as the "from" property and use my mail account to send it, but I got error: com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPSendFailedException: 553 You are not authorized to send mail, authentication is required when set different mail address in "from" and "user" property, how to resolve this problem?

    Basically that's a bad idea. Suppose you used your server to send messages that claimed to come from "[email protected]"? Naturally enough people have tried that, either as a joke or as an attempt at fraud, so that servers will check to see if the message is coming from the server it claims to be coming from. And if it isn't -- as in that example -- it will consider it a forgery. Best case (for you) is that the server will flag it as spam or junk. Worst case is that your server will be blacklisted and other servers will ignore it.

    Hi,

    Thanks,
    Naidu.

    Hi,
    There are only two modes standard and Extended, Enhanced receiver determinatrion is Extended receiver determination only.
    Enhanced(Extended) receiver determination  -->
    Whenever list of receivers is determined dynamically at runtime, using a message mapping then it is called enhanced.
    Enhanced Interface Determination--> It is when you want the target interfaces to be defined dynamically based on the multimapping, that is called enhanced interface determination.

    user.variant = As one can clearly see, the 'bog' and 'titel' (i.e. first and last) properties are missing, resulting (bad code - I know) in a NullPointerException.

    We also have this problem, but it's not first and last property.
    We have 6 properties, and the 3. property is gone.
    If I download the jnlp file, the property is there, if I choose show jnlp file in "javaws -viewer" it's not there. Only difference between this property and the working properties is length.
    The length is char 255, and the data is base64 encoded.
    I worked fine before upgrading to Java 6 update 5.
    Anyone any ideas?
