ExtendScript Toolkit does not break on breakpoints

For some unknown reason most of the breakpoints are turned off when running a script.
Clearing the preferences did not solve the problem.
Any suggestions?

when I want to create breakpoints, always use this.

Program does not break at breakpoint inside stored procedure

I am using VS 2013 and SQL Server 2012 calling a stored procedure from a C# program. I have a breakpoint set inside the stored procedure, however execution does not stop on it. When my program is running, the breakpoint is hollow (not solid red) and the
tool tip reads "the breakpoint will not currently be hit. No symbols have been loaded for this document".
I built my app in debug mode and checked "SQL debugging" in the debug tab.
Any idea as to what would cause my breakpoint to not work?

Hi achalk,
When debugging SQL Server stored procedure in Visual Studio 2013, please make sure that Application Debugging is selected in "SQL Server Object Explorer", otherwise you will not be able to step into T-SQL.

JCOP Tools 3.1.1b: Debugger does not break, what am I doing wrong?

Hey everybody
I'm desperately trying to debug applets using the JCOP Tools 3.1.1b but when I start the applet in debug mode, the debugger does not break on the breakpoints I set. You might know the little ticks that appear on top of each breakpoint bullet in the editor. The strange thing is that these ticks do not even appear.
I tried various versions of eclipse (3.1.0, 3.1.1, 3.1.2) and WinXP as wells as Linux. Does anybody else have the same problem or even a solution?

hello,
here are few steps you should check:
- when you start the debug session JCOPShell will load the applet into the simulator. You have to first make sure the applet is loaded with debug info. JCOPShell should do that by default, but check on the trace that "upload" command is called with the -d option:
upload -d "G:\glut-wks\JC\bin\helloworld\helloworld.cap" - then JCOPShell will install the applet with the "install" command. At that stage only the install function (and of course the constructor of the Applet) will be called. So breakpoints located in other part of the code won't break. Check the trace because if install is not called no applet code will be running.
- after installation, applet must be first selected to get any of its code running. Use "/select |appletname". If you have a breakpoint at the beginning of the "process" method, it should break. if the Applet is not selected all future APDU will go to the cardmanager, and applet code won't be running.

The report generation toolkit does not work.
It seems to point to the 'Generate Report Data Members.ctl'.
I suppose it has something to do with the wrong set of active X-controls ?
I work with Win 2000 and Office XP
How can i solve this problem ?

Report Generation Toolkit does not recognize Office 2003

Hi there
The newly installed MS Office 2003 and LV 8.5.
When installing Report Generation Toolkit is screams that it does not recognize Office 2003:
"Microsoft Office version 2000 or higher was not detected on the system. You need to install Microsoft Office 2000 or higher before you install the NI Report Generation Toolkit for Microsoft Office 1.1.2."
What to do?

Did you reboot your system after installing Office 2003? Have you launched Word and/or Excel since installing Office 2003? I think there might be some registry initialization that takes place on first launch of Word and Excel. If you've launched Word/Excel and the RGT 1.1.2 installer still isn't detecting them, there may have been a problem with your Office 2003 install. Try uninstalling Office 2003 and reinstalling it. When you reinstall, double-check that Word and Excel are selected in the install. Then launch them both a first time before trying to install RGT 1.1.2. If it still doesn't detect Office 2003, perhaps there's another problem with your system. Are you using any foreign language software? What OS are you running? Is it Office 2003 standard or professional? Is there anything weird about your Office install, like is it installed over the network instead of from CDs?
I'm hoping the answer to one of these questions helps you solve the problem. Keep me posted...

Exe created with Report Generation toolkit does not work for all users

I created a exicutable with the report generation toolkit and it only works with some of my users. I use microsoft 2007 and anyone that has microsoft 2007 my exe works well. Most of my users that have microsoft 2010 are able to use my program as well. However, there is one user with 2010 and Windows 2007 that cant get my program to work.
Any suggestions for troubleshooting this?

The most likely issue is due to the fact that Microsoft changes the ActiveX object model of Office for each version of Office. The Report Generation Toolkit does a pretty good job of handling this, but it is not 100% effective. Search, for example on the "Set Cell Border" function and you will see what I mean. In these cases it's up to you to handle this issue. How you handle it really depends on your situation. For us to provide a more concrete answer you will need to provide further details, such as what toolkit function is "not working" (whatever that means), and who you "users" are. Is this an internal distribution? Are you selling this program? Is this code written for a project with a specific customer?

Database Connectivity Toolkit does not even load in labview 8.5

When you do a clean install of labview 8.5 on a computer and try to load an app using the database connectivity toolkit, you get this error:
This comes up for multiple vi's in the database connectivity toolkit. NI is still shipping labview 5.1 toolkit vi's with the 8.5 release.

Don't lecture me about all software having bugs. NI is obviously imploding under its own weight. Its one thing to have a couple of bugs here and there, but NI needs to maintain and follow a release process that includes significant beta testing and a careful review process. If NI expects labview to be used in production-critical areas across more and more industries, they need to work much much harder on quality control.
The database connectivity toolkit broke when the release labview 8.0. This broke every application I had. Sales reps assured me they would fix the problem. Applications engineers assured me they had entered the bug into teh system and that it would be fixed.
You can't even OPEN the database toolkit in labview 8.5. So no, its pretty obvious no one at NI ever even opened it to check its functionality with either 8.0, 8.2, or 8.5. They would have seen this problem! You can't even load the toolkit because the vi's are verison 5.1! If my software had this kind of quality I would not only be a very poor engineer, but I would also be ashamed of myself. I would be embarrassed. If you software is like that, then you should be ashamed of yourself too.
Your argument, "all software has bugs" is basically saying I should be passive and accepting of whatever NI gives me for my $4000 a year. I am demanding better quality control. Are you suggesting there is no point in this demand, and to just accept the fact that all my applications will break each labview release? And for the record, my software works when I deliver it. Any bugs that have a functional impact have been found and fixed before I deliver product.
I'll give an example: Each time I try to build an exe in labview 8.2, the build has an error. A sub-vi is missing. A sub-vi broke during the build. Each time I have to mass-compile. Every now and then it works after I mass compile and re-save-all. But usually I have to copy an entire vi to a blank vi and re-save it under the existing name. Often I have to do this to multiple vi's, each time trying to build an exe and failing after 20 minutes of the lengthy build process.
Its WEDNESDAY. I've been trying to build an existing app into an exe since MONDAY. This happens every single time I change something. I have EVERY RIGHT to complain. This is costing us a lot of money.
When it takes hundreds of hours to rework every application I have, including thousands of vi's every single time NI has a new release, its not worth purchasing the next release then is it?

RT PID toolkit does not match standard PID toolkit for arrays

Why is the PID toolkit from the RT installer different than the standard PID toolkit? Attached is a VI that demonstrates that the RT PID toolkit acts differently for array inputs than scalar inputs. You must have the RT PID toolkit installed; the PID toolkit from the "Toolkit Software" disk doesn't have this issue. Run this VI, then click the "Auto" button. Note that the single output response is correct, but the array output response gets "stuck" on the lower bound of the output. Try multiplying the P tuning parameter by 10 (change it to -0.04) and note that now both PID loops respond - but they start at different initial values! Now, add an element to the boolean shift register, and wire the "Auto" input of the PID VIs to the new second element - both PID loops now respond identically. Install the PID toolkit from the "Toolkit Software" CD and these issues vanish. What's going on here? Which version of the PID toolkit should I use in my RT applications? This is all LV 8.2 from the November 2006 Developer Suite CDs.

Hi Luke, and thanks for your help. I'm doubtful that the two versions are identical, even without the aid of "Compare VIs" - I've attached screenshots of the upper left corners of the two versions. However I might be missing something buried in the deeper levels.
This affects my application in that I have a system that can run in several modes; in some of them the controller is turned on, in others it is turned off. When I switch to a mode in which the controller is turned on, I want to initialize the output to a specific value that corresponds to that mode, and let the controller adjust from there. This is why I'm using the shift register: to turn on the controller one loop cycle after setting the manual output value. I'm open to other suggestions but this has worked fine for me for years with previous PID toolkit versions. Similarly I've never had problems before with clipping at one end of the range, and I don't think it's caused by the difference in value between the setpoint and process variable, since it's affected by the lower bound of the output.
The Readme for the LabVIEW PID Toolkit 8.2 suggests that many changes were made in the 8.2 PID toolkit, including calling a compiled C library for the array version, although I haven't seen anything that suggests this is the case in either version of the PID toolkit from the 8.2 CDs.

Serial break on com port does not work

hello everybody:
i have the following problem:
i am writing a command via the '"visa write" vi on the com port of my pc. in some cases the com port does not retun anything. that means that my "visa read" vi would timeout. the problem is that afterwards i need to send more commands but have to break the line in order to be able to do so. I have inserted the "visa break" vi but didn't get the reaction i expected. the line does not break. i tried to increase the break length but that does not work either.
Any ideas?

A break will not break the connection, it will just put a 1 to the Tx line for a periode longer than 11baud length (?) or specified time.
A hardware check that the break is send: connect a scope or a DMM to the TX and GND , a 500ms break should be clearly visible even on a 'slow' DMM. (a 10k resistor and two LED antiparrallel or a handy RS232 minitester would do the same job )

Crystal 2011 RAS. Section Expert Paging tab properties does not correspond to EnableNewPageAfter, EnableNewPageBefore properties in section format

We have application where you can select fields, select groupings and properties (for example disable page grouping ) and create custom report.
It worked with crystal 9.
Now we are converting to Crystal 2011 and I have the following problem:
I create report dynamically and set group footer EnableNewPageAfter property to false in group footer section.
When report is created , I open it and see that New Page After property in section expert is unchecked.
When I run the report, I have page break after each group - which is wrong.
If I open report in Crystal, check New Page After Property , save, exit report, open report again, uncheck New Page After Property, save and exit,And than run the report again,
My report behaves correctly:does not break after each group.
If I open report in Crystal, check New Page After Property , save, exit report and then load this report in code and look at EnableNewPageAfter property,
the property is still false - but it should be true
Do I use the wrong property?
What is the right RAS property to set Crystal report 'New Page After' Property in the code for group footer/group header?

Flowable Form does not flow onto next page

I have created a form with a table wrapped in a subform and made it flowable and each field expandable. That part works great. However, I cannot get the content to flow to a subsequent page. When the content is too large for the page, it just keeps pushing down beyond the bottom of the form where I cannot even access it.
The form contains a table of three rows and within each of those rows, all but one column contain a table of three rows. The highest level table is wrapped in a subform and it is marked as flowed with each text field set to expand to fit. I've selected every row and subform I can and checked the box "Allow page breaks within content". The forms still does not break at the end of the page but just keeps pushing the data down off the page.
Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Is there something under pagination for that subform that I might need to do. I tried creating a page 2 and intended to set the Overflow on the pagination tab to page 2 but that is not an option. I can only set this to PageArea1 or ContentArea1 which I see are objects in the master pages and I do not have a page 2 in master pages. Is that the key?

Site does not dispay column in one line(word wrap) but correctly dispays in IE8.

When I upgraded to FF23, the display on one page will break as follows

Each word is surrounded by a box, but cut and paste does not include the surrounding boxes. 
In addition, one page does not break a column of data, but overlays it onto the first data column. I use column to mean two separate page data elements of text. When I use the View, Page Style, No Style the page displays the data correctly spaced. I have tried different fonts, but have been unable to correct the display. I have tried disabling plugins but not change.

If you have made changes to Advanced font settings like increasing the minimum/default font size then try the default minimum setting "none" and the default font size 16 in case the current setting is causing problems.

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own fonts.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced: [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
It is better not to increase the minimum font size, but to use an extension to set the default page zoom to prevent issues with text not being displayed properly.
You can use an extension to set a default font size and page zoom on web pages.

Breakpoints not breaking in xcode

When I set breakpoints in xcode by clicking in the gutter, the code runs right by them and does not stop. I am in debug mode, so it is not something that simple. When i start the code all the breakpoints turn orange. Is there some setting or something I need to enable to get breakpoints to work?

Like Alex, I have problems with gdb not stopping at some of the breakpoints I set. I do recognize the difference between Build&Run and Build&Debug, and I am using the latter. Sometimes the debugger stops where I put a breakpoint, sometimes it stops, but on a different line, sometimes it doesn't stop at all, and sometimes it won't let me place a breakpoint on the line I want.
As one would guess, it helps to write one statement per line, break up complex statements, and expand macros. Even so (and also turning off code optimization), I still find that a lot of my breakpoints just won't work. And then, there are the frequent occasions on which the debugger stops at a breakpoint but then dies and gives me no useful information, or shows a nonrecursive function calling itself, or tells me a variable is out of scope when it clearly should be IN scope.
Frankly, I waste less time creating my own debugging statements than trying to figure out what gdb is doing. That's disappointing, and I wonder if there are some good resources on learning to use Xcode/gdb more effectively? Is there, for instance, a reference that explains messages like "Frame identical to previous; corrupt stack?" and provides some hints on what classes of bug are likely to elicit particular error or crash modes?

LabVIEW Report Generation Toolkit in the application does not work

I have LabVIEW7.1 and LabVIEW Report Generation Toolkit for Microsoft Office 1.0.1, which was updated after installed. I made a VI in LabVIEW7.1 enviroment using the Report Generation Toolkit and it works very well. After the VI was build an application.exe and installed even in the same PC, the Report Generation Toolkit didn't work. Excel that should pops-up does not do anything.
the office i used is office xp. would you like to help me?

When you build the application, you have to include as "Dynamic vi" in Source file tab the vi:
_Word Dynamic VIs.vi. from _wordsub.llb
_Excel Dynamic vis.vi from -Excelsub.llb
in the following library
...\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\vi.lib\addons\_office\"
