External date format in oracle source system

Hai friends ,
My situation is data reconciliation on the cube .I have virtual provider designed with date .My oracle source system has dates in external format say 19-sep-2009 .How to approach my virtual provider in BI with these date fields ..
iam thinking of inversion routines to communicate with the source system and then reconvert again to BI format in the start routine .Suggest me if any logics with examples.
Goodday.

Hello,
Please refer to the information in the SAP note 518241 , the note refers to DB connect but the section in the note on converting the
date fields to SAP date format should also be helpful in your case.

  • Configuring date format in Oracle 8.1.7

I have just unloaded records from tables into an sql script file with insert statements. However, the date format for the records that I have unloaded is MM/DD/YYYY. When I try to run this sql script, oracle gives an error, saying it's not a valid month.
Oracle date format is DD-MMM-YY. How can I change the date format in oracle, so that I could insert these records in?

If your script does not have explicit TO_DATE conversions (which it should, by the way), like:
insert into t values (to_date('11/21/2002', 'mm/dd/yyyy'));then you can set the default date format to match the format in your script. So, if your script looks like:
    insert into t values ('11/21/2002');then:
alter session set nls_date_format = 'mm/dd/yyyy';prior to running the script.

  • Collecting data from two R3 source systems

    Dear All,
    Scenario:
We are in the process of implementing SAP BI 7.0 in our organisation.
We have a single BI server (7.01) collecting data from two source
systems from two different divisions within the group.
The first system is of Company 1 where we have IS u2013 MILL (ECC 6.0).
BI has been implemented and running successfully in this unit. Now we
have started implementing BI in the second unit u2018Company 2u2019
where the industry specific solution IS u2013 AFS (ECC 6.0) is the source
    system.
We are activating BI Standard Content for AFS. When we try to upload
master data, we face a problem.
The master data (0Division, 0Mat_Grp_3, etc.) is already loaded with
IS Mill data (data from the first source system). Now when the data is
loaded from IS AFS (second source system), wherever, the same key
exists in the info object, we notice that the existing data is
overwritten by the freshly loaded data, thus causing loss of existing
    data.
A typical example is as follows:
BW Data u2013 Source system 1 u2013 (Before upload of data from source system
    2):
    0Division
    99         EN          Stock Transfer Out
AFS Data (Source system 2) -
    0Division
    99         EN             STO
BW Data u2013 Source system 1 u2013 (After upload of data from source system 2):
After uploading the master data from AFS, the Values areu2026
    0Division
    99        EN            STO
    The original data is lost.
Similar problem is noticed with other master data as well.
Please suggest the right methodology for upload of master data when
data to BW is sourced from two systems. How to retain the data in the
same Infoobject but at the same time maintain distinction between the
    data from the two systems.
We donu2019t find any specific mention of such scenarios in the standard
    documentation.
Will such a problem recur when we upload transactional data?
    Regards,
    Aslam Khan

    Hi Aslam,
Please use some compounding attribute for your master data object like Sourcesystem ID.  While loading the master data from different source systems... you should have two different flows to fill the same master data object.  In each flow you can specify the Source system ID as constant value ... eg SS1 (Source system 1)  and SS2(Source system 2) in each of the data flows.   This should solve your issue without overwriting your master data
    Thanks

  • Modeling the Data model when multiple source systems

    Hi gurus,
i have a scenario where i am getting data from multiple source systems all R/3 but from different locatins.
my doubt is if i have to do reporting on the data available.
    1. do i have to build seperate infocubes for each source systems or build seperate data designs for each source system .
    2. How can i consolidate the different source sytems data into one and report sensibly as well as without loosing the source system identification.
    thanks and regards
    Neel

    Hi all,
thanks for your focus, ya i am also thinking of have a flexible solution where in i can do it easily as well as we don't have much of complexcity, but wanted to try different options as well so that we can go for best one.
I thought of multiprovider at first when RafB suggested, and i agree with you as well Lilly, that data volume will be a problem, so keeping all this in view i want to build a solution where in it will be sensible as well as not confusing in reports ( i mean clear and readable reports)
    [email protected]
please kindly forward any documents which might be helpful for me in this scenario

  • Differentiating Master Data from two different source systems

    Friends,
i have used standard InfoObjects that provide master data for two InfoCubes which take data from two different source systems. Now the some of the master data is identical in both the source systems (example: 10 stands for "Industrial" in one whereas 10 stands for "Agricultural" in the other). What do i do so that the system(BW) differentiates the two.
Thanks in advance for all the help.
    Mike

I tried to include the 0SOURSYSTEM in the compounding of this InfoObject (for master data) but it gives me a list of other objects that use this InfoObject as a reference characteristic and also says that this InfoObject is used in a ODS and data needs to be emptied in the ODS before activating  this InfoObject.  Please let me know if there is any way out of it.
    Thanks

I complited the R/3 stuff and check the data for enhanced fields in RSA3...it's giving run timeout run time error.
Then I just ignore that error and I complited BW stuff successfully....after compliting BW stuff I am able to see the data in RSA3 in R/3.
So my question is, What is the root cause for this....?
When we are able to see the data in RSA3 in source system.?

  • Customized delta data source for deleting data record in the source system.

    Hello Gurus,
there is a customized delta data source,  how to implement delta function for deleting data record in the source system?
I mean if there is record deleted in the source sytem, how to notify SAP BW system for this deleting change by this customized delta
    data source?
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
when ever record deleted we need to write the code to insert the record in  Z table load this records into BW in a cube with similar structure.while loading into this cube multiply the Keyfigure by -1.
add this cube in the Multi Provider. The union of the records in the orginal cube and the cube having deleted records will result in zero vale and will not be displayed in report .

and how to change oracle data format without affecting system ?To change the default display format for all DATEs in your session:
ALTER SESSION  SET NLS_DATE_FORMAT = 'fmMM/fmDD/YYYY';This affects only your session; it will not affect other users in other sessions.
Regardless of what the default format is, you can display an individual DATE in a given format using TO_CHAR
    SELECT     TO_CHAR ( accouting_to_date

  • Problem with date format from Oracle DB

    Hi,
I am facing a problem with date fields from Oracle DB sources. The date format of the field in DB table is 'Date base type is DATE and DDIC type is DATS'.
I mapped the date fields to Date characters in BI. Now the data that comes to PSA is in weird format. It shows like -0.PR.09-A
I have changing the field settings in DataSource  to internal and external and also i have tried mapping these date fields to text fields with out luck. All delivers the same format.
I have also tried using conversion routines like, CONVERSION_EXIT_IDATE_INPUT to change format. It also delivers me the same old result.
If anybody of you have any suggestions or if anybody have you experienced such probelms, Please share your experience with me.
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for all your reply. I can only the solutions creating view in database. I want some solution to be done in BI. I appreciate if some of you have idea in it.
    The issue again in detail
I am facing an issue with date fields from oracle data. The data that is sent from Oracle is in the format is -0.AR.04-M. I am able to convert this date in BI with conversion routine in BI into format 04-MAR-0.
The problem is,  I am getting data of length 10 (Output format) in the format -0.AR.04-M where the month is not in numericals. Since it is in text it is taking one character spacing more.
I have tried in different ways to convert and increased the length in BI, the result is same. I am wondering if we can change the date format in database.
I am in puzzle with the this date format. I have checked other Oracle DB connections data for date fields in BI, they get data in the format 20.081.031 which will allow to convert this in BI. Only from the system i am trying creating a problem.

  • Date Format in Oracle 11g XE

    Hello everyone,
I have installed Oracle11XE and noticed that it has the following date format:

          nls_date_format                      string      RR-MM-DD

         alter system set nls_date_format = 'DD-MON-YY' scope=spfile;

    Hi,
sampling is out of a directory placed on the CLIENT. On runtime the directory must be placed on the SERVER.
So you must have two locations: one for sampling (*local) and one for (*remote) and before deployment you must switch from _local to _remote.
The _remote location points to a directory on the SERVER, don't forget to grant read/write privileges to the oracle user on the file system.

  • Date format in Oracle 10g XE

I'm using Oracle 10g XE on Windows Vista and I'm curious as to what determines the date format.
According to the globalization section in the Oracle installation guide the NLS_DATE format is dependent on the NLS_LANGUAGE setting. In my database the NLS_LANGUAGE is American, the NLS_TERITORY is America and all other NLS_* parameters are blank (default).
From that I would expect the default date format to be mon-dd-yyyy.
However when I run SELECT sysdate FROM dual the date is reported as dd/mm/yyyy and this was the default format when I used SQL Developer and when I used the command line SQL*Plus. Obviously something else is determining the date format, but what?

Your settings are dependent on NLS_LANG on the client.
They are derived from (assuming Windows) the regional settings of the O/S.
This means in Western Europe the default 'American_America.WE8MSWIN1252'.
This makes the default NLS_DATE_FORMAT dd-mm-yy.
You can override this in the registry, or set up an after logon trigger.

  • Error in loading data into PSA from source system.

    Hi Experts !!!
    Good morning .
I am trying to load data from SRM source system into BI system. When I execute infopackage, the data is not loaded into PSA and status of the process immediately becomes yellow. After sometime it gets timed out and converts to RED.When I checked the error documentation I found that the iDOCS response was not received from the source system.Detailed error is as below.
    System Response
There are idocs in the source system ALE outbox that did not arrive in the ALE inbox of BI.
    Further Analysis
    Check the TRFC log
you can access this log using the wizard OR menu path "Environment > Transact. RFC> In the source system
However,I was not able to navigate to this path.I think if I can navigate to this path,I can manually push IDOCS from source system to BI system.
    Regards,
    Mandar.

    Hi,
Check the DataSource in RSA3, if it is working fine and able to see the data in RSA3, there is no problem in DS level, then check the Mappings and any routines in BW for that DS, if this is also fine then check the below options.
See Dumps in ST22, SM21 also.
Check RFC Connection between ECC and BW systems, i.e. RSA1-->Source System->Right Click on Source system and Check.
You must have the following profiles to BWREMOTE or ALEREMOTE users. So add it. Bcoz either of these two users will use in background to get extract the data from ECC, so add these profiels in BW.
    S_BI-WHM_RFC, S_BI-WHM_SPC, S_BI-WX_RFC
And also check the following things.
1.Connections from BW to ECC and ECC to BW in SM59
    2.Check Port,Partner Profiles,and Message Types in WE20 in ECC & BW.
    3.Check Dumps in ST22, and SM21.
4.If Idocs are stuck i.e see the OLTP Idoc numbers in RSMO Screen in (BW) detials tab see in bottom, you can see OLTP Idoc number and take the Idoc numbers and then goto to ECC see the status in WE05 or WE02, if error then check the log else goto to BD87 in ECC and give the Idoc numbers and execute manually and see in RSMO and refresh.
5.Check the LUWs struck in SM58,User Name = * (star) and run it and see Strucked LUWs and select our LUW and execute manually and see in RSMO in BW.
    See in SDN
Re: Loading error in the production  system
IDOC getting struck at TRFC (SM58)
    1.Reorg of table (ARFCSSTATE )
2.Incraesing the resources in the system (no of processes and memory ) , as this issue happens owing to this.
Source system tries to send TRFC to target and if there are no WP's available it will come to Transaction Recorded state, and form here it will not try to send this TRFC.So you have to execute this manually.
Also we can increase the timeout parameter so that it can try few more times to send before actually it comes to recorded state.

    Suman
