External Format

Hi All,
I have a requirement and was wondering if I could get some help.
We have configured Outbound Idoc which goes to the Vendor's Non SAP system. They no more want the file in IDOC format. They want it in EDI format and my company does not want to buy any subsystem to convert the SAP IDOC format to EDI Format accepted by the vendor.
Can this be achieved in XI? Can SAP IDOC format get converted into EDI Format and then transmit it to the vendor system?
Is there any documentation for conversion ?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

By Default SAP XI does not have the capability to do this, but using Seeburger adapter in SAP XI, this is done.

    Hi Experts,
    Plz share some knowledge for internal and external format in field Tab while creating datasource.
    when we will give internal format and External format?
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards.
    Alok

    Hi Alok,
    External format is the format for the External data. The external format needs to be converted into Internal format and for that you have to use a conversion exit say for example Alpha conversion routine.
    For further details please go through the below link,

  • Outputting currency in external format???

    I am doing project for an external client. (China). I was outputting some currency values in report. I a mworking from india. Now i am getting warning that i should output currency in external format?? What does that mean???
    Rakesh

    Hi,
    The format currency depends on the user parameters.
    You can use the WRITE statament, and the system automatically will write the currency in according to the user parameters.
    You can try to use the statament SET COUNTRY <COUNTRY>, set all formats (date, currency) used in a country. In this way your program should be independent from user parameters.

  • What is Internal and External format in data source

    Hi friends,
    can any body explain me about Internal format and External format
    while we creating datas0ource. on what basis we choose these.
    could any plz explain me.
    Thanks in advance,
    Thanks and Regards,
    Madhavi

    Hi Madhavi,
    In BW the Internal Format of data is different then external format (the one we use in general) for example date is stored in the format as "YYYYMMDD".
    Now if you are loading some data in BW where the Format is different than YYYYMMDD then you have to convert it using Conversion Routines.
    Please go to SE37 and put CONVER and you can find a  lot of conversion routines , alternatively you can go to infoobject and in General tab you can use F4 help dropdown for various conversion routines available in BW.
    Hope it Helps

  • Differences between Internal Format and External Format

    Hi experts,
    When I was importing master data from InfoObject in BW, there's an option selection in the screen of Data Manager. Its name is Choose format and two selectable options are:
    1. Internal Format
    2. External Format
    I looked into help of BPC and it says:
    Choose the Format
    Note:
    The External Format calls the Output conversion routine of the InfoObject.
    The Internal Format does not call the Output conversion routine.
    I'm not sure what is Output conversion routine of the InfoObject. Could you help me to understand it?
    Thanks,
    Tony

    Hi Tony,
    In BPC Data Manager, you will find Conversions, in that you will find
    External and Internal formats.  This means if you are importing a flat file where in
    Example your date format in that file is 31-10-2009, but our Internal format (BPC format)
    will not accept it.  Our internal format is 2009.OCT.  So accordingly you have to
    mention that.  It may be for any dimension like Accounts, Product and so on.......
    I hope this may help you.

    because the MAX limit is 6gig on that formatting.
    if the drive is BLANK or you have another drive, format it in Mac OSX extended journaled and that will remove the SIZE block.

  • Is Aperture dictating workflow a bit too much? External format Q.

    I'm beginning to wonder if Aperture is actually being too strict with our workflow methods. I use Aperture as an enthusiast rather than a pro, but it was worth the cost as it was the best RAW manager I could find.
    Most of the time I manage to edit my photos in Aperture, but on occasion I do need to export to PhotoShop (I use Elements 4). I'm rather disappointed with the options for this though. It's OK working in a TIFF when I have RAW files as the master, but to force me to use a 16bit image is so presumptious. And to force that format when the original is an 8 bit JPEG is simply ludicrous.
    I do realise that working in 16bit images is the best possible format for pro editing. However, you have to switch to 8 bit in order to apply some processes - filters for example. So surely a good workflow would be RAW to 16 bit TIFF, edit it as much as you need to, convert to 8 bit TIFF if required for further editing, and then save. By this time it should be a reasonable file size. But Aperture will not let you save an 8 bit image. I've been editing a few images in Elements, switching to 8 bit mode to apply filters, and then saving it. They still appear in Aperture as a huge TIFF file - typically a 45MB file from a 13MB RAW. An even worse ratio if the original was a JPG.
    Of course this worflow should exist, but I really think there should be some more options for using an external editor - like being able to work in JPG format, or have the final image stored as an 8 bit TIFF. It'd just be nice to have the choice, that's all.

    James,
    the title of your question is  saying "Aperture", but in the body you are asking about iPhoto libraries.
    Have you previously worked with iPhoto and are considering to switch to Aperture?
    Would it be possible to keep the "main" iPhoto library on the EHD - and then just import albums into it (from the MacBook) at regular intervals. For example, if I go away for a fortnight and come back with 14 new albums, can I merge these 14 albums with the iPhoto library stored on the EHD? I've read that Aperture can manage multiple libraries - but I'm not sure if it's designed to be used in this way...
    Any help would be much appreciated!!!
    Aperture and iPhoto now share a unified library format. If you are having the latest version of iPhoto and of Aperture, both applications can open and update each others libraries.
    Aperture 3.3: Using a unified photo library with iPhoto and Aperture
    If you have multiple iPhoto libraries, you can easily consolidate them into one library, that could reside on an external drive.
    if you want to use Aperture while on the road, with the external drive disconnected, you could export a small, partial aperture library from your main library with the projects you are currently working on, an later merge this working set back into your main library. That is, what I am doing when on vacation, and I'm only taking my MacBook Pro with me.

  • 0WBS element (external format) as append field in generic extractor?

    Hi Guru's,
    we use an generic extractor for our CO-PA data, as a join of different tables. Now I get the issue with this internal format of PSP element. It is of NUMC 8 and my basic data PSP element is CHAR 24. As they are not matching I want to add the POSID as an append field. But how to do this?
    In table PRPS I found the Include PRPS_INC an thought about using this in my extract structure? Is this possible? How do I need to go on and to simply have my additional field - with content! - in my extract structure?
    First I used an append and put in my include. As there are no fields extracted to BI I think this is wrong!? How can I delete my append?
    Thanks

    Hi Siggi,
    I have not created an special Append on the VEKP. I created an generic extractor on the VEKP. All fields of VEKP are available and I can hide or choose selection-field for all of these fields. No problem.
    i created an append on the extract structure via RSA6 - enhancement. I know that after generating the generic extractor with RSO2 all settings done in former times in  RSA6 are lost. But, my problem is: <b>I can not see any of the fields I put into the append. They are not there.</b> Not in ROOSFIELD and following not in RSA6. And that's the problem.
    Thanks for your support.

  • Mapping instance variables to buffer in external format

    I was inspired by this OP http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5211760 to develop my first annotation. Having no experience
    at all with annotations, I would like to ask you if it is something useful or
    an abuse of annotations. I have my code at work and It works, but now I am at home, so here is the idea.
    class TestByteMap
      @ByteMap.Offset(0) byte aByte;
      @ByteMap.Offset(1) int aInt;
      @ByteMap.Offset(5) short aShort;
      public static void main( String[] args )
        byte[] buffer = new byte[] {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7};
        ByteMap bm = new ByteMap( new TestByteMap() );
        bm.fromBytes( buffer );  // Populate the annotated variables from byte array
        bm.toBytes( buffer ); // Dump annotated variables to byte array
    }ByteMap is a class that has an inner annotation Offset. The toBytes()
    and fromBytes() methods use reflection to move bytes between the
    buffer and the annotated variables.
    Thank you for any feedback!

    If you need to read/write a class to a byte array, using annotations to mark which fields correspond to which offsets is somewhat better than tracking this by hand in comments. Instead of using reflection, you could mark the fields as before and use an annotation processor at compile time to generate the read/write methods appropriate for the class. In any case, it would be recommended to check for overlaps and other semantic errors in the offset annotations.

  • Purchased a 5T external, formatted to Mac OS Extended (Journaled), trying to drag and drop Time Machine. Tells me "The backup can't be copied because the backup volume doesn't have ownership enabled." How do I enable ownership? What is ownership?

    Thanks!

    Although the documentation says you can copy Time Machine backups in the Finder, it's very slow and sometimes doesn't work at all.
    This technique will only work if the volume you're copying to is the same size, or larger than, the one you're copying from.
    First, open the Time Machine preference pane and click the Select Disk... button. You may have to unlock the settings first by clicking the padlock icon in the lower left corner of the window. Authenticate as an administrator.
    Delete the volume you're going to copy from the list of backup destinations. Then turn Time Machine OFF.
    Launch Disk Utility, open the built-in help, and search for the term "Duplicate." Follow the instructions. All existing data on the destination volume will be erased. That shouldn't be a problem, because you don't want to mix backup and non-backup data on the same drive anyway.
    If the volume you're copying was encrypted by Time Machine, you may have to unlock it first. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar of the Disk Utility window.
    Turn Time Machine back ON and select the new volume as a backup destination. You can also continue to use the old volume, if you wish. The two will be alternated when both are available.
    CAUTION: If the volume you're copying is corrupt, as shown by Repair Disk or Verify Disk in Disk Utility, then that corruption will be copied to the new drive. Don't copy data from a corrupt volume on a malfunctioning drive. Put the drive aside and don't use it until you're sure you'll no longer need the data. Then securely erase it and take it to a recycling center. Do the same if the Restore operation fails with "disk errors."

  • External date format in oracle source system

    Hai friends ,
    My situation is data reconciliation on the cube .I have virtual provider designed with date .My oracle source system has dates in external format say 19-sep-2009 .How to approach my virtual provider in BI with these date fields ..
    iam thinking of inversion routines to communicate with the source system and then reconvert again to BI format in the start routine .Suggest me if any logics with examples.
    Goodday.

    Hello,
    Please refer to the information in the SAP note 518241 , the note refers to DB connect but the section in the note on converting the

  • How to validate when date format is diff Internally and externally

    Hello,
    How can I validate the Date format if Internal format and external format is different.
    Ex :
    *  SELECT SINGLE CRTSP
    **                FROM /SAPSLL/PR
    **                INTO L_CRTSP
    **                WHERE CRTSP IN S_CRTSP .
    CRTSP (YYYY/DD/MM HHMMSEC) Internal Format
    S_CRTSP (YYYY/DD/MM) External format - selection option
    I had done following to convert the internal format to external format.
    DATA : LV_DT TYPE STRING.
    DATA :  L_CRTSP TYPE /SAPSLL/CRTSP.
    SELECT SINGLE CRTSP
                    FROM /SAPSLL/PR
                    INTO L_CRTSP.
    MOVE : L_CRTSP TO LV_DT. "(YYYY/DD/MM HHMMSEC)
    L_LEN = STRLEN( LV_DT ).
    L_DATE = LV_DT+0(8).
    I have the date format that i need in L_DATE."  (YYYY/DD/MM)
    Now how should I validate?
    *  SELECT SINGLE CRTSP
    **                FROM /SAPSLL/PR
    **                INTO L_CRTSP
    **                WHERE CRTSP IN S_CRTSP .
    Please let me know how can I validate or how can I write the select query to validate this field.
    There should be some way using Wildcard or some function module...which I am not sure...
    Any suggestions will be appreciated!
