External header in Dreamweaver.

Good day all,
Perhaps my question may sound lame to some of you, but I'm struggling with creating an external header for a website. What I mean is, is there a way to outsource a flash clock, two images and a whole menu found at the top of the www.liep2vsk.edu.lv page into a separate file and make a link to it? I have some 30+ html pages that need to be adjusted in case something needs a change.
Is there a way to do it with css? As far as I have looked into css tutorials, there is a way to put an image into css, but I was unable to find a way of putting the whole top into an external file. I have tried a php solution too, but to no avail.
And, please be so kind as not to remind me of how many AP divs or w3b errors are there. Thank you.

That would be a long one... The include section of the header is at the bottom.

  • Can anyone help me to create a header in Dreamweaver CS5 (image included)

    Hi there:

    Thanks

    You could do this very nicely with CSS styled tables.
    Copy and Paste the following code into a new, blank HTML document (in code view).
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

  • External Links in Dreamweaver CS3?

    I am new to web design and Dreamweaver and I cannot get
    external links to work no matter what I do. I could not find any
    instruction on how to do this on the web or in Adobe help files.
    Whenever I make an external link, say for example I type
    Google.com, it links to my my own site as if it were an internal
    link to mysite.com/www.google.com. It is extremely frustrating so I
    appreciate any help with solving this. I know it has to be
    something so ridiculously simple that no one even though of posting
    how to do it but nonetheless I need help! Thanks again.

    You need to specify the protocol for the link, e.g.,
    http://www.google.com
    which will produce code that looks like this -
    <a href=''
    http://www.google.com">Google
    with me</a>

  • FF 3.6.12 will not open links from external sources (Outlook, Dreamweaver, Digsby, etc)

    I have just upgraded to Firefox 3.6.12 and links clicked in an external source will not open in Firefox.
    Firefox is set as my default program for web browsing. I have tried to open links from Outlook, Dreamweaver, Digsby, and other programs.

    I have the same issue, opening links from external programs like Word or Thunderbird does not work. This used to work before the update to 3.6.12

  • Google fonts reference in header freeze dreamweaver

    Our organization has been using google fonts with success for about 6 mo. now. However, today we ran into an issue with google fonts relating to Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 on multiple computers. It seems when opening a Header include page w/ google fonts reference on them in the form of
    <link href='//fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Open+Sans:300,400' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'>
    Dreamweaver freezes and then crashes after about 5 min.  We then moved the references to the css import method like "@import url(https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Didact+Gothic);", the same issue occurred w/ the css file . I looked in google for support forums for this issue and found none. Do you have any insight?

    I was having this exact same issue, it would repeatedly hang although I always shut it down before it crashed. Finally after trying the css include it saved the file after about 2 minutes, now magically it seems to be working. It's very frustrating and now every time I save the file with the link in it I'm worried it's going to hang and I'll lose my work.

  • Video tutorial on creating external style sheets Dreamweaver CC?

    I am new to Dreamweaver, and using the free trial of Dreamweaver CC. I have taken the Adobe video tutorial on how to start and style a website, but I'd like to learn more about how to create an external style sheet (since the video came with files that already had a css file made). I know how to physically create it and link it to the site, but I want to know more about what kinds of selectors to add, why, how they get differentiated-- for Dreamweaver CC. I'd like to know good practices and foundations! A video tutorial is preferable, but I'll take any kind of tutorial. I have completed the tutorial according to their steps, but I want to create my own site with my own styles, and am feeling lost. I'm very very beginner with html, so anything that explains about tags, classes and IDs, how to know when to use certain selectors would be very helpful to me. And should you create your CSS before or while you're creating the structure for the website, does it matter?

    Try reading through the CSS tutorials at the sites below.  Dreamweaver tutorials don't explain coding because it's assumed you already know it.

  • Need site name large in box to right of logo in header? Dreamweaver CS5.5

    <div class="container">
      <div class="header"><!-- end .header --><img src="images/cropped_reindeer.jpg" width="225" height="213" alt="girl kissing sad reindeer" /></div>
    Tried to put the site name in big font to the right of picture in index.html code using thrColFixHdr.css but text falls to bottom of box on right of image, and the text doesn't look how I want it to look. Should I make an HTML table with one row and put it inside the <div> or what is a good solution?
    I read to the effect that tables were passe nowadays. .

    Writing the question and thinking out loud that way, helped me to find a solution based on my knowledge of HTML, not so much CSS. My solution looks like:
    <div class="container">
      <div class="header"><!-- end .header -->
       <table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0" width="960">
      <tr>
        <!-- Row 1 Column 1 -->
        <td width="225">
            <a href="index.html"><img src="[image name]" width="225" height="213" /></a>
        </td>
        <!-- Row 1 Column 2 -->
        <td align="left">
            <h1>Title</h1>
            <h2>Subtitle</h2>
        </td>
      </tr>
    </table>
    </div>
    It looks okay. Just like Mart's really.

  • Mapping External Header File in Robo 8 AIRHelp

    This is embarrassingly simple, but here's the thing: I can't seem to get RoboHelp 8 to recognize a map file I've created.  A clever developer has devised a way to use the .h file "outside" of our application, so it doesn't have to be bound in every time it's updated; you just replace the .h with a new one.  I generate the .h file from a spreadsheet listing our classnames (dialogs, mostly), and "import" it to the Map section in Robo.  I then place a copy of it in the target directory.  Theoretically, it should match up - they are identical.  But no; the topic mapping is not found (clever debugging code checks for this, and puts the offending string in the Clipboard).  So far as I can tell, somehow, Robo is not recognizing my .h file.  We have about 400 topics to link.  Any ideas?
    TIA

    Resolved.  The map file I was creating used the wrong encoding.

  • Dreamweaver very slow when linking to external CSS style sheets

    I'm working on a site on my PC using Dreamweaver CS6.  When I link to external style sheets, Dreamweaver virtually grinds to a halt.  Just clicking from one line to another can take up 10 seconds.  My PC is high spec, i3720, stripes set drives and 32gb ram.
    I have tried deleting the cache no change.  The external css files are part of the site and the site has been rebuilt .  Can somone help with this as it is seriously impacting my ability to use Dreamweaver.

    Hi Murray, the RAM comments were irrelevant, pointless. 32GB RAM vs 4GB RAM?  Sorry, I worked at Microsoft and as a systems integrataion consultant for a number of years.  32bit programmes don't access RAM the same as 64bit, but, having 32gb with a 64Bit OS means RAM usage for a 32bit programme is better managed. Programmes and data files are on seperate drives.  My data files kept are on 3 disk stripe sets.
    The CSS files and the HTML file are on the same drive.  AS an example of performance for data read/writes, I also use Photoshop CS6 to edit images in excess of 2gb in size containg multiple smart object, and I dont experience this type perormance lag.
    In this case, RAM is mainly irrlevent because the file are small, approx 200kb total combined size.  I mentioned RAM in my initial post because any time I've had problems with Adobe products before, I've always been asked how much RAM I have.
    So, can we please drop RAM, and perhaps focus on the problem....
         Dreamweaver, regardless of what background processes I have running, regardless of how much RAM I have, regardless of where the files are kept, has a significant performance hit when editing an HTML file with links to multiple CSS files.

  • IMac 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, running Lion 10.7.3, won't recognize external speaker jack, any suggestions?

    iMac 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, running Lion 10.7.3, won't recognize external speaker jack, any suggestions?  Got a brand new iMac and purchased external speakers for same.  Hooked them into external speaker jack and the computer does not recognize the external speaker jack.  I then plugged them into the external head phone jack and the computer recognized the head phone jack.  How can I get the computer to recognize the speaker jack?

    Thanks "a brody," my mistake, I was mistaking the "audio in" jack for a speaker output jack.  I have some Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers with a built in amplifier that I am using and they sound beautiful.  I do have them plugged into the correct jack, but was thinking there was a speaker out put and headphone out put.
    Thanks again for correcting me, I feel much better now that I know my brand new iMac isn't defective, lol.

  • How do I add a 2nd editor to dreamweaver's list of "Open With"?

    When in Dreamweaver I sometimes want to open some source code using an external editor. Dreamweaver "Open With" functionality allows dreamweaver or a lookup of an editor. I don't see any way to set multiple choices and still have an optional lookup a program to open it with. I would like to create the following.
    Dreamweaver
    ExternalEditor
    Look Up Program to Open with.
    I have discovered I am getting tired of looking up the same editor many times and I would like the editor to remain on the list. Is this possible with DW(CS4) 10.0 Build 4117.
    Thanks. Andy

    In DW from the menu bar...
    Edit...Preferences...
    Select "File Types / Editors" from Category panel on left
    In "External Code Editor" text box, enter the full path of the text editor program you want to use (or click "Browse..." to browse to it).
    I've found this a little flaky, though.  It does show the External editor in "Open With..." for html files, but not, say, for .txt files, even after I removed it from the "Open in Code View" list (on the same page).  I had to add the extension to the configuration panel below to get it to work with text files.  "Open With..." shows Dreamweaver if you want to use code view.

  • Dreamweaver / Sharepoint Developer NIGHTMARE

    I am a long time Dreamweaver user and love using it for all
    my web design work. Our workplace is talking about making a
    transition to Sharepoint for all our web sites on post. Even though
    I find it hard to believe they will be able to rid the entire
    network of servers of all normal HTML coded web pages and go
    exclusively to Sharepoint I figured that I better look at
    Sharepoint to get an idea of what I am up against.
    Just when I was making headway redesigning my new department
    external website using Dreamweaver I made the mistake of installing
    Sharepoint Developer to see what the buzz was about. Since I was in
    the middle of working on the site, after downloading and running
    the trial version of Sharepoint Developer I declined the restart to
    complete the installation opting to check it out later when I was
    done editing. While editing and creating new buttons for the site I
    realized I had mistakenly put the files in the wrong folder so I
    highlighted all the files needed to be moved in the Dreaweaver
    sidebar using CTRL to selct only the needed files and dragged them
    to the appropriate folder.... unfortuately I had just opened my
    site template and had that highlighted as well. When I dragged the
    files to the correct folder of course Dreamweaver prompted me to
    update the pages on the site since I was moving the template (I
    didn't realize til after I said yes) but after realizing it dragged
    the template as well I just figured I'd drag the template back to
    the template folder.....
    Well, when I did so, Sharepoint Developer kicks in for some
    reason and starts configuring files... I'm like WTF???
    So when if completes I open the template and it decides to
    OPEN IN SHAREPOINT Deleloper instead of just opening in Dreamweaver
    which is still open at this point!!!!!!!!!!
    So I close Sharepoint Developer and UNINSTALL the demo
    figuring this will solve my problem.... WRONG....
    After uninstalling Sharepoint Developer I try to open the
    template and it asks me what APP I want to use to open it????
    hmmmm... so I stop, right click on the file to select Dreamweaver
    as the app associated with the file but when I click on the
    Dreamweaver exe file to associate it with the file, Windows will
    not allow me to do so, in fact it lists all the other apps in the
    list of available apps to select but NOT
    Dreamweaver?????????????????
    So I restart figuring this will solve my problem.....WRONG!!
    No matter what I do, Windows WILL NOT allow me to select
    Dreamweaver as the default app for these files, in fact EVERY file
    previously associated with Dreamweaver will not NOT OPEN with
    Dreamweaver.... it automatically opens the window as if I right
    clicked to allow me to select the app I want to associate to the
    file... and now, FRONTPAGE is available (of course since it is aa
    WINDOWS program) but still NO DREAMWEAVER. Then I browse to the
    Dreamweaver folder as I tried earlier and when I double click and
    select Dreamwever, WINDOWS IGNORES ME and reverts back to the
    previous program...
    What the hell am I suppose to do now???
    Should I uninstall Studio Suite and then reinstall it, reset
    all my setting and files and spend the next 2 days getting back on
    track or does someone else know a better fix
    HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    > there goes all my setting for multiple sites and I will
    have reset up my
    > entire workspace....
    No you won't. Export your site settings and save your
    workspace config. You
    can find out how to do those things in DW's Help (F1)
