Extra Account Name I cannot get ride of

Hello,
I have 4 accounts in my Mail program. 2 of them are @earthlink.net and 2 are @mac.com.
I am in the process of switching over (hopefully) from Earthlink to Mac.
When I go into the Accounts under the Preferences area the 4 accounts show just fine.
When I send mail, all 4 accounts work fine. But when I reply from one of the @mac.com accounts a 5th name appears in the Accounts the pull down menu and the mail will not send. It is my name in front of the e-mail address. When I change the account to the another @mac.com account it sends fine,,
but it brings up this first one that does not work as the default.
I've looked in my address book to see if I added something wrong. I've also gone into when I made the alias and it does not appear there.
I probably messed something up when creating the accounts, so would like to get rid of this 5th one.
Any suggestion where else to look to get rid of this 5th name would be helpful.

Hello Jill.
Look for traces of the old mail account in the following places:
Preferences > Composing > Send new mail from
Preferences > Signatures
Another place to look at would be the outgoing server settings. Mail keeps information about outgoing (SMTP) servers in a separate list independently of the mail accounts themselves. The account settings just associate one of the available outgoing servers with each account. Deleting an account doesn’t remove from the list the outgoing server that was associated with it. Go to Preferences > Accounts > Account Information > Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), choose Edit Server List from the popup menu, and delete any servers that shouldn’t be there. The Edit Server List panel shows the account each outgoing server is associated with.

    Did you create a new account or did you update your existing account with a new email address ? You can tap on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Stpre and sign out of it and you can then sign with the new/updated account.
    If you did create a new account then your existing content will remain tied to your old account, so only that old account will be able to redownload that content and/or download updates to its apps. If you can't remember the password for it then you can try getting it reset via this page : http://iforgot.apple.com

    You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
    Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store notice. For example, if the App Store says you need to update "Twitter," the hacked app may be "Angry Birds" or something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you have to carry out a systematic search.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
    In the Finder, press the key combination command-F to open a search window, or select
    File ▹ Find
    from the menu bar. In the search window, select

    A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select Raw Query and click OK or press return.

To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
    At least one of the items listed in the search window is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
    Log out and log back in. Test.

    IF you know the exact file name of the download, you can search for it in the spotlight.
    (This icon) in the upper right corner.
    If you don't know the exact file name, you may have to redownload it so you can see it.
    I would also try doing a reboot after you change your desktop background to what you want.

    I have two apple accounts that I cannot get to merge.  One is a hotmail address and the other a gmail address as primary addresses in the two accounts. I would like to merge them into one account.  I cannot verify the addresses of either accounts because when I do it will say that the address already exists.  Therefore I can't get them to merge.
    Also...
    Me.com and hotmail are under the same account., but when I log into me.com some of the accounts turn into the hotmail account.  I do not use hotmail anymore and use gmail regularly.
    Any insight to these problems would be appreciated.

    If these are both used as Apple IDs, then they cannot be merged. If they are just two email accounts of which you only wish to use one, then you would need to transfer the data you want to save from one to the other. Since the data are just email you would need to look for a way to export it from one email address as a file compatible with what the other can import.

    Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • My iTunes store will not open, it keeps showing me a page for 10.3 iTunes that I cannot get rid of.

    I cannot get into my iTunes store, I have an old windows PC that my iTunes is set up to. It keeps showing me a page with information on iTunes 10.3 every time I click on iTunes store & I cannot get rid of it. The links it gives me to download do not work, I have gone to apple.com & downloaded it but it still shows up in iTunes. I have tried everything I can think & every loop hole I can find & I can't get rid of it. I have contact Apple twice in the last two days, once through express lane that said they would get back to me within 24 hours(has been 48 with no response) & once through there 1800 number which gave me a machine to talk to that e-mailed me "tips" that I have already tried.
    Need HELP!

    Sorry but the problem has re-occurred....
    I have to reboot the pc every single time because I lose my taskbar and desktop.  This time I noticed that it said it was loading the HP Adviser....and that is when I got a completely blank screen again. ????   I am at a loss  ???  It has no function keys on it at all...no x to close it....just a blank screen with jsut the words   Internet Protected mode on.   and then the sizing button and the off button next to it...(can be automatically block, choose content to block etc).  Its on off. 
    Now is it co-incidence but it was operating well until Magnetic changed the wallpaper (its supposed to do it every hour) and that seems to be when the issue re-occurred  ???
    Am I just best to uninstall the Magnetic wallpapers and just put up with the boring ones from Windows ?
    I really do not like Windows 7, its not as easy as it makes out...I prefer XP to 7 !!!  At least I learnt how to use that.
