Extra box misleading marketing

I have two BT supplied Youview+ boxes and would like to take out an Extra box subscription. Sounds simple? Well it isn't!
It would seem that the Extra box subscription is only available if you are willing to pay an upfront cost of £99 regardless of whether you need a new box or not.
It clearly states in several places that the requirement for an Extra Box subscription is, "Two YouView+ boxes from BT", it does not state that the £99 fee is compulsory otherwise you cannot have the service.
I do not understand why BT would want to miss out on the extra subscription revenue from people who already have two boxes, especially those that have the new Youview+ boxes, but that seems to be the decision they have made after 3 unsuccessful attempts to sort this out with customer services.
BT please be more clear in the marketing of this service

Just to follow up that BT have confirmed what I initially posted. The multiroom service is only available if you pay a £99 fee and purchase a new box directly from BT, regardless of whether you have an existing 'BT' Youview+ box.
We also discussed the loss of revenue for BT by isolating customers who already have two boxes, to this they confirmed that this is their current strategy, but it may change some time in the future.
In order to close this topic I would just like BT to be more clear of the process involved in enabling an Extra box in their online literature, in doing so they will save themselves and some of their customers like myself a lot of time and effort.

  • Lack of broadband connection with Extra Box

Hi all Requiring some technical assistance/advice really. I have recently had installed Youview box and BT HomeHub 5 in our lounge as Infinity has finally reached our area. All is fine. My old Sky+ box in the kitchen stopped working over the weekend, so I thought I could purchase a Youview Extra Box to replace it, as I am quite happy with Youview. However, there is no hub in the kitchen (it's in the lounge), so I can't plug Ethernet cable in. Wi-fi won't stretch that far. I can't feasibly run a cable from lounge to kitchen as it's too far and would be very unsightly. I looked at the various plug-in BT Home Hotspot kits, but they imply that you need to be on the same ring main/electrical circuit to work - which I don't believe my kitchen & lounge are (separate fuseboxes) So, in a nutshell, what can I do? If I simply connect the extra Youview box to the TV in the kitchen then I can still use the record, live pause and playback features without being connected to the internet? I am happy to forego the connectivity features eg iPlayer, film libraries etc on this set. Or is the Youview simply defunct if you don't connect to a Hub? Help gratefully received!

Powerline adapter and similar devices, communicate over your mains wiring using radio frequencies.
These frequencies will not pass through your electricity meter to the external electricity distribution network.
As both your feeds come from the same meter, it is possible that these types of adapters may work, with a reduced speed, depending on the lengths of the cables.
If you could borrow a pair to try, then I think it would be worthwhile. Some types may work better than others.
I have a pair of TP-Link ones feeding a wireless access point in the garage at the end of the garden, and that is on a separate fuse box.
    These are TP-Link TL-PA211KIT AV200 Nano 200Mbps Powerline Adapter - Twin Pack

  • I have my serial number for a previous installation of PSE 8, but when I go to put it in on my new computer, there's an extra box.

I got my copy of PSE 8 with a tablet I bought a couple years ago.  The computer I had installed it on died, so I bought a new computer.  Only then did I realize I'd somehow lost the installation CD.  I went on the mostly-dead computer and managed to recover my serial number that way.  But when I go to put it in to the boxes to re-register on my new computer, there's a whole extra box.  In other words, my serial number doesn't appear to be long enough to go into the provided boxes.  What is going on?

You can't see the whole serial number that way. If you registered it, you can go to the main page of adobe.com and sign in or click where it says "welcome, < your name>", you should be able to find your serial number in the links there.

  • Check Box in Marketing Document

    Hi Experts,
Can any one Suggests me, I need Check box in Marketing Documents, Is that possible to create (not mentioning UDF or UDT creation).
    By karth

You can simulate a check box by one UDF and a FORMATTED SEARCH.
For example you can create a UDF in INV1 named CK_BOX and link in it this formatted search
    SELECT 'x'
    from inv1
    where $[inv1.u_ck_box] =''
    union
    select ''
    from inv1
    where $[inv1.u_ck_box] ='x'

  • BT's misleading marketing & and charging systems

I have been a BT customer for 9 years, upgraded to package 3 of BT Broadband three to four years ago - I was recently made redundant therefore am now self-employed working from home.  Last year I was having significant problems with my BT Hub phone, and despite signing up for a new contract the BT Help desk were unwilling to provide a working BT Hub phone until I finally contacted the CEO's office and media team, which finally resolved the matter.
My quarterly bill has gone from around £100, to £163, to £357, to £439, to the last one of £560, and according to BT I have only myself to blame - most of the calls are to landlines in the UK (again as I'm now working from home) and while there is a package available for £5 a month to have unlimited UK phone calls, at no point in any communication from BT has there been a suggestion to change plans, even when I signed up for a new contract.  As my billls have escalated dramatically, especially the last two, I have reviewed in detail and fixed MY mistake which has cost me HUNDREDS of pounds (how is it BT's pricing allows longterm customers to continue on a package obviously not correct for their usage?) - MORE IMPORTANTLY, in reviewing my bill I also learned:
     - BT CHARGE CUSTOMERS 9.3 CENTS PER CALL SET UP FEE, A CHARGE WHICH CAN ONLY BE FOUND IN SMALL PRINT IN TERMS/CONDITIONS, AND NO WHERE IN ALL THE WEB, PRINT, EMAIL, AND OTHER PROMOTION BT SEND OUT WHICH CLEARLY STATE 5.4 CENTS PER MINUTE TO LANDLINE, AND 12.5 CENTS PER MINUTE TO MOBILE
     - THIS SET-UP FEE WENT UP TWICE IN 2009 (A 34% INCREASE IN ONLY ONE YEAR) WITH NO COMMUNICATION OF ANY KIND TO CUSTOMERS
     - BT ALSO 'ROUND-UP' ALL CALL TIMES AND CHARGES - IF YOU MAKE A CALL OF 1 MINUTE, AND ONE SECOND, YOU ARE CHARGED FOR A TWO MINUTE CALL - IF YOUR CALL COSTS 21.1 CENTS, BT CHARGE YOU 22 CENTS - IT MAY NOT SOUND LIKE A LOT, BUT IF YOU MAKE A LOT OF CALL, IT IS SIGNIFICANT, AND IN MY LAST TWO BILLS ACCOUNTS FOR 20-25% OVERCHARGE COMPARED TO QUOTED RATES, NOT EVEN COUNTING THE WELL HIDDEN SET UP FEE
I've now changed my account to Anytime (£5 per month unlimited UK calls) so hopefully this will no longer be an issue, however I feel RIPPED OFF by BT's EXTREMELY MISLEADING MARKETING, which does not state the VERY HIGH SET UP FEE FOR EACH CALL, and over and above this SYSTEMATICALLY RIP CUSTOMERS OFF BY AGGRESSIVELY ROUNDING UP MINUTES AND RATES leading to significantly higher REAL rates. TALKTALK offers unlimited calls and broadband for £20 per month - BT is such a rip-off, and really should refund a large proportion of the rates they've charged me - I will be looking into alternatives, and posting details of their misleading marketing and charging with the ASA and other relevant bodies.  It is blatantly misleading, and BT should not be allowed to get away with this.

Hi MichaelT I 100% agree with you, I made a local call to my doctors last week 30second which cost me 15p this is more expensive than a mobile call, I have now also signed up to the unlimited uk call package, this is a ploy by BT to corral all thier customers into having this package, looks like its working.

  • My website shows an extra box image on PC's that is not showing on my computer in iWeb or online.

My website shows an extra box image on PC's that is not showing on my computer in iWeb or online. I know for sure that the box is not there in iWeb. You will see it on the homepage of www.gageformen.com of you're on a PC. Any clue how I can get rid of it? Thanks!

Post a screenshot of the page on the PC so we can see what you're referring to?  What type of box image is it?
By the way, I noticed that the only text in your entire site that is not an image file is that on the page RESPONSIBLE STYLE.  That's the only text in your site that a search engine can use in it's ranking and listing.  That could be limiting as to what the search engines have to use from your site.

  • Ordering an extra box

    Hi,
I am in the process of ordering an extra box for our BT vision but have a few queries before I go ahead with the order:
We have the black vision box - I want the recordable extra box for upstairs because my family are sports mad and I rarely get the chance at the moment to watch the 'On Demand' content plus 'catch up' TV.
We have BT Infinity and I have been told that the box downstairs needs to change to a YOUVIEW box to get the new extra box plus they will be changing us to Netflix instead of BT TV. I have also been told we need an engineer to visit to set up the boxes as they need to be 'hard-wired' in. I mentioned that we have the BT Vision box already wired and plugged in with ethernet cabling from the router but was told we still need an engineer.
We also already have an aerial socket upstairs and an ethernet cable running from the router here as well, which can be used for the new extra box.
I have a couple of questions which I did ask on the phone but didn't get a clear answer:-
Why do we need an engineer to come to set up the new Youview boxes if we already have our cabling in place? My family are all technically minded and have no trouble setting things up.
Also we were told we need to change to Netflix. The new price will be £13.99 a month - Our BT TV is £12.50 a month, so price is ok, but is Netflix as good or same as BT TV with all the free stuff and no hidden extra charges? We understand that it's £5 extra a month for the extra box which is ok.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Thank you, skappy70 & umpire, for the answers to my post which have been very helpful. I will try to answer you both in this one reply if I can.
The BT TV we get at the moment is :
BT TV Unlimited- which includes Film & Box sets /Music & Kids packs
    at £12.50 a month,
    +BT Sport Pack
    Free
    +BT Sport HD Pack
    at £3.00 a month
The lady on the telephone who was quoting me for her suggestion to change to Netflix, to replace the BT TV unlimited Films and box sets, said she would take off the kids pack (as I said we don't use it) and add on the Music pack, as I said we did use that.
For Netflix with the music pack she quoted £13.99. She said everything else in the TV  (BT sport & HD sport) we have will stay the same.
Can I ask if this sounds fair, or should I be trying for a discount on this price?
I was quoted £135 one off charge to have a new youview box on the main set up and an extra box (recordable youview) which included an Engineer to visit to install (which I queried and was told it was a necessity??)
Thank you, skappy70 & umpire, for confirming what I thought, that the boxes can be self installed and no Engineer is needed.
I will be reading through all the info you gave me, umpire - Thank you for that - I will get back to you soon if there is any confusion or any further questions.

  • Extra Discount in Marketing Documents - Formatted Search

    Hello All,
I am trying to add a UDF for "Extra Discount" in the marketing documents. I have tried to attach a formatted search on the document total to calculate the final value after this extra discount has been specified. However, the formatted search doesnt work and I get an "Internal Error".
The scenario mentioned underneath will explain the requirement:
    <b>Default Option in SAP:</b>
    Customer                               C0001
    Item        |       Price     |        Discount       |      Tax      |     Total

    Discount                     5%    4.5
    Tax Amount                         3.42

    <b>Requirement:</b>
    Customer                               C0001
    Item        |       Price    |         Discount     |        Tax        |   Total
    I0001       |      100      |           10%           |       VAT@4  |    90

    <b>Tax Amount                         3.348
    Doc Total                             87.048</b>
Is it possible to have this scenario mapped in SAP Business One using formatted search without using SDK/Customization?
    Regards,
    Gyanesh Rupani

    Hello Jimmy,
The client wants the extra cash discount to be visible on the invoice itself. I have tried creating the UDFs and assigned appropriate FS to them to change the document total. However, the issue is that the moment the document total is affected, the discount (available by default in marketing documents footer) automatically gets changed proportionally!
So, for eg. if an invoice is for 1000 USD and I give a discount (system field) of <b>10%</b> to a customer and 5% as cash discount (UDF), with the help of FS, the invoice amt automatically gets changed to 850 USD but the discount field also automatically gets changed to <b>15%</b>!
This is the inbuilt functionality of SBO - so if someone can help me overcome this, I will be very grateful.
    Regards,
    Gyanesh

  • New BT Vision Box - Why no Freeview HD?

Why does the new BT vision box not support the DVB-T2 standard required for HD freeview? If BT is serious about competing with Sky and Virgin it needs to have 'live' HD services and better sports content.
I understand that the content issue is being addressed with the ofcom ruling on Sky’s pricing of its sports channels, but the hardware needs to be able to compete too.
I have read elsewhere on the net that the next generation box will support T2, but how long will we have to wait for that? The DVB-T2 standards have been around for a number of years and I think it is quite short sighted of BT to bring a 'new' box to market so close to a freeview HD launch without that capability. They should have waited a few months and included it from the start.
I bet they release a new one with DVB-T2 HD capability 2 weeks before the BBC/BT canvas box comes out and I would wager it won’t support the canvas platform!
I hope BT get this sorted soon, I would love to use my Vbox instead of my Sky box (the HD box is very flaky) but until these issues are sorted I can’t use it for anything else other than a 'bedroom box'
As a BT shareholder and lover of all things tech, these little things worry me. Please sort it BT
    Chris.
    Solved!

That piece about the software upgrade is not correct... Bt have stated to me on many occasions that a new box is required as the hardware is incompatiable.. the HD you speak off (which confuses their call reps sometimes!) is for Streaming HD only via the internet. The Codec's are there I understand, but the physical chip is not the right one..
The Chipsets Must/are out there as Humax have them in their boxs!
My feelings are, you wont see a new box out of BT until Project Canvas comes to fruition at which point you will see a Freeview HD box from BT with Vision on Demand plus Content streaming over the Internet. At which point you will see a complete relaunch of BT Vision into a much more Internet Centred Product, prehaps offering a TV based Web Browser in addition to the BT Vision Library, Project Canvas Content/functionality etc.. You may start to see Linear Channels appearing via your ADSL service too at this point.. I would imagine this would happen "In time for Christmas 2010"..
You may see a "Projet Canvas capable *with sw upgrade*" HD or SD box appear before the world cup with heavy promotion , but nobody knows!
The only things you will probably see out of BT now will be more "Streamed/Downloadable" HD Content, and possibly Sky Sports as either a Linear or PPV Service.
Fingers crossed and a lot of patience required if you want Freeview HD via BT Vision.. I know Im waiting, Cant see the point of getting it now over Sky..

  • BT Second Box Question.

Hi I have BT Infinity 2 also BT TV BT sent me a BT Youview + Box also I brought a mini youview box so that I could watch BT Sport in my Bedroom as well as in my front room.
Can someone tell me what I have to do to get BT sport running on both boxes but not at the same time. As I cant be in two rooms at the same time. Is there something else I have to get from BT to acheive this. Thanks for any help given on this topic.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

On the box that isn't set up for BT TV go into the BT Player app. You should after a short period get a purple 'error' screen up explaining that you have too many Youview boxes attached to your line. But at the bottom there is a reset option that allows you to reset your account to move your services from your first box to this second box. Select the option and shortly afterwards you will be able to watch BT TV on the second box (but it will no longer work on the first).
It's a right faff of course moving the service between boxes like this, but the only way around it is to pay BT £5 a month for an extra box subscription.

  • Swatches box moved a foot up with a stupid box under it in CC 2014?!?!?

What complete idiot at Adobe thought moving the Swatches box a foot up and placing an extra box beneath it was a good idea in Adobe Flash CC 2014? Stop "FIXING" things that ain't broke Adobe!

And I beg to differ it HAS changed because it first off does not have the same placement in the docked Tool bar, I'm NOT referring to the Swatches palette or the Color palette and could care less about the features added. I'm SPECIFICALLY referring to the offsetted placement of the palette that is DOCKED to the toolbar.
the first pic is from CS6 and you can CLEARLY see there is no extra space for the palette. it's just the palette itself.
The second pic is from CC 2104 and you can clearly see there is a LARGE space below the swatches which offsets it and makes it not in the same place it's been since well really the beginning of FLASH.
It's not in the same position as before and it makes Flash CC 2014 harder for me to use. Is there a way to fix it? I can appreciate a need to add features so people buy new versions and I can appreciate that someone might need to use specific palettes but some of us like the way Flash was and counted on where things were to work quickly.

  • Using two BT Branded Youview Humax boxes

9 months ago I purchased a second BT branded Humax Youview box from John Lewis. The two boxes have worked on the internet channels perfectly well. I have now had access to the internet channels removed on the second box. I very rarely had need to access the internet channels on both boxes at the same time, it was just convenient to be able to use then in two different places. I am prepared to pay the £5 a month extra to reaccess the internet channels on the second box, but do I really have to pay £99 pounds for another box, when these two have been fine. BT have stated that they will only provide the service on two BT supplied boxes, and not on a 3rd party supplied box. Why would John Lewis a highly respected retailer be selling BT branded boxes for any other reason than use as a second box. If I had a fault with my BT supplied box I would go to BT for a replacement, in or out of contract. Why is it neccessary to have a G4 box

To address the bold text -
Yes - you do need two Youview boxes that BT provide to you.  BT appear currently to be inflexible on this. Note that BT do not currently sell any of its non BT lve  internet channels packages/add-ons/bolt-ons for use on retail bought boxes. So its clearly a commercial or channel licensing  decision not to do so.
The G4 is not itself a requirement for multiroom - it's simply the current standard new box that BT issue so if you order a extra box for multiroom thats the one you get.

  • Running a youview box from a broadband extender

    Hi,
I run my Youview + box successfully from a broadband extender flex 500 successfully. I have the unlimited broadband infinity 1 package. I wish to order a second youview box(the one that doesn't record). I was told that I could not use this same system with the second box because it has to have an Ethernet cable to the modem. They consider the system I use to be 'wireless'and therefore not suitable. They say I can only run one youview box on a broadband extender system. Is this the case? Does anyone else run two youview boxes on the broadband extender system. They said it is not an Ethernet connection (I thought that was the whole point!) using this method. Please could someone confirm this for me and /or explain why it won't work!
    Many thanks.

BT never used to accept Powerline adapters at all. At least they seem to accept 500mpbs devices as valid for one box now.
However I suspect that they don't want to risk people complaining if people take out an extra box subscription and have problems if, say, both boxes are used for watching and recording HD channels simultaneously via Powerline.
To be clear there is no reason why you can't run two boxes off the same Powerline AV500 network except that if one or both of your adapters have low throughput (due to mains interference, poor wiring etc.) you could struggle trying to use both boxes simultaneously for both viewing and recording IPTV. If you are prepared to take the risk, go for it! (BT won't help you if you have problems though).
