Extract driver from kernel tree and apply patches to it

Hi
I am trying to "enhance" a driver, fix it more or less, by applying a patches to it I found at aircrack-ng.org.
So what I would like to do is:
1) Extract the source code from the kernel tree for this particular driver
2) Update the old patch to match the modern code.
3) Make a PKGBUILD for it and share it with other through the AUR.
So far:
1) I dont know how to do it
2) I found the patch and I think I know which lines need to be updated
3) Let us make #1 and #2 first and I ll see what I will do about the package and how it should be named, because it should not be in conflict with the stock module
I reached this point because I am so frustrated with my rtl8187b based usb wireless card and the only way to avoid those frequent disconnects is by either using ndiswrapper (last resort) or by trying the patches found at aircrack-ng.org. I don't know anything about coding, so I cannot write something new, perhaps by updating the patches, I could actually achieve something. Maybe until it gets fixed upstream.

Why not use the patched compat-wireless drivers in the AUR?

Is it possible to remove my hard drive from the Macbook and install it in a new Macbook Pro?

I currently have a 2009 Macbook and am wanting to upgrade to a new Macbook Pro. I have upgraded my hard drive in the macbook to a 500gb and have a duel boot with Windows 7 installed with Boot Camp along with other software that I do not want to lose. Is it possible to remove my hard drive from the Macbook and install it in a new Macbook Pro?

A much better solution is to hook your two Mac together and the first time you start the new Mac and it asks if you wish to recover data from another Mac, answer yes. This will invoke Setup Assitant which will do the job for you but intelligently.
I know because I just used Setup Assitant. It worked like a charm.

See, I have two firewire (external) HDs, connected to a Mac, connected to a PC, connected to a USB external HD... now I can share files from the USB HD to the firewire HDs!

If the files are small, you can load the target file in a DOM document, insert the data from the source file and persist the DOM.
If the files are large, you probably want to use a StAX or SAX.

How do I remove one failing hard drive from raid set and replace with new one

Last Friday apparently one of my raid drives started failing.
As I mentioned on this forum I started getting continous beeping.
I was finally able to get the raid working at a degraded level. I ordered a replacement hard drive which is arriving today.
(In the meantime I made twice daily backups of my work.....)
Below was the message I got from the browser based raid software:

At one point when I did the checked the browser interface I saw the message Failed and Degraded
As I said, I was able to work over the weekend on the degraded system.
This morning I got the beeping again and did the rescue and now I am running a "full raid" without the notice that one raid was "Free".
In any case, the new hard drive is arriving today.
What steps should I take to incorporate the new drive into the raid system.
I have one OS drive
and 4 tb raid drives.   One needs to be replaced with the new one that I am getting today.

Please tell me how to read the serial number from an individual drive rather easily, without un-installing them:
If you select the proper drive to change out, you only need to remove one drive and look at its serial number...
Step 1: Identify bad drive serial number using Areca's tools
Step 2: Turn off the computer
Step 3: Remove what you think is the bad drive based on following your numbered cable method, marked hot-swap bays, whatever
Step 4: Verify that the serial number matches the "bad drive" serial number from step 1; if it does great, proceed; if it does not match, go back to step 3
Step 5: Change out the CORRECT drive - that's the bottom line for this whole procedure

DISM Command to retrieve updates from software distribution and apply to wim file

I'm following
this guide about slipstreaming updates into a wim file. What im attempting to is what the author outlines in step 2, namely pulling updates from the software distribution folder on a pc that has had the image applied to it and then patched to current. The
trouble I'm running into is around the command. namely this section DISM
/image:C:\Mount
/add-package /packagepath:”%U” Running this command produces a invalid path message. What should be happening is the previous commands
are telling it to pull in any files name .cab from all of the directories, but this doesn't seem to be working. I can't define this as a static path as there are tons of sub-folders in this directory with the cab files. Am I just doing something wrong? how
can I accomplish this?

I'm still having trouble with this. For some reason, it is stripping the % sign. So I am seeing this when I run my batch file:
/add-package /packagepath:"u"
or
/add-package /packagepath:"f"
Any ideas?

Install RAC 11gR2 and Apply Patches with OUI New Software Updates Option

Has anyone tried the installation with the New Software Updates Option?
I will install 11gR2 RAC Grid and I plan to do the following steps:
1) Install Oracle Grid Infrastructure Patchset 11.2.0.2
2) Do all the configuration with OUI
3) Create ASM disks
4) Install Oracle Database 11.2.0.2 Software Only
5) Apply Oracle Recommended Patches 11.2.0.2.2 (12311357) and 12431716. (ref. MOS doc [ID 756671.1])
6) Create RAC Database (advanced option) with DBCA
With these steps:
Grid and ASM disks would be configured without the recommended patches, but the database will be created with the patches applied.
I would not like to do a "Software only" install of GI and then apply the patches because later I would have to manually do all the configuration steps.
If I use the OUI Software Updates Option to apply the patches, will OUI do all the patching and then let me configure GRID with OUI ?
