Extract subject from email

I have configured an "Email start point" for my process.
I can receive and process the pdf attached to the emails, but I can't extract the subject (or the sender...) from the emails.
I followed the procedure explained in the guides: that is, I have defined a string input variable named "subject", and I have populated it with the literal %SUBJECT% in the "Email start point" --> Properties --> Inputs.
Run-time the input variable is populated with the plain text "%SUBJECT%"!!!
What do I have failed?

This is a bug which is being addressed in Service Pack1.
As Jasmin said you can work around this issue by changing literal to variable.
However, for now you need to do this in the adminui not Workbench.
Go to: Services->Applications and Services->Service Management.
Find your application, select it and you should see the Endpoints panel.
Select the Email Endpoint.
Down at the bottom under Input Parameter Mappings change the dropdown to Variable from Literal and save the endpoint.

Nevermind. The solution was simple. Just download all his email into Apple's Mail.app and use the add to address book feature. Worked perfectly. Thanks anyway.

Extract Contacts from Email Correspondents?

One of our main sales guys is leaving our company. The president asked me if it's possible to extract all the email addresses (and possibly their names too) from all the email in his mailbox? I know squirrelmail has a custom plug-in to allow to "take" an address, but this is only for each individual email.
Any help and/or suggestions would be gladly appreciated. Thanks.

How can I use Automator to extract information from the body of an email sent from a web form.. and the import it into Highrise?

I'm assuming that Automator is the way to go. I've never used it before but from research it seems to be the way to go. Also, I'm not good at programming at all.

I have several hundred of these emails and I want to extract the information and then save it into my CRM which is Highrise (https://highrisehq.com). If it's too difficult to get it directly into Highrise then I'm aslo happy to extract the info into excel and the import into Highrise. However I do not want to have to run through that proceedure for every single email.
I'd really like some help on how to get Automator to do this for me. Or if not Automator.. any other suggestions?

You may try the following AppleScript script. It will ask you to choose a root folder where to start searching for *.map files and then create a CSV file named "out.csv" on desktop which you may import to Excel.

If you select the message on the Inbox list, or open the message, you can then go to the Message menu of Mail and select Remove Attachments.

Subject in Email is always "Report sent from Report Builder"

We run Forms 6.08 in C/S - architecture.
Forms calls reports:

Run_Product(reports, 'MY_Report', SYNCHRONOUS, BATCH, Filesystem, pl_id);
This works: Lotus pops up and a Email is initialized with a pdf appended.
But the subject isn't filled in properly. There is always a constant text: "Report sent from Report Builder"
How can I control the subject?
Is it possible to fill in some text into the Email-body?

1. Subject is coming properly in EN but for DE taking the subject from standard task , BASIC DATA tab, Abbrevatio or Name ...
which i am not able to rectify. i am not required to translate in DE , have to send email as it is in EN. but subject is only missing
and everything is working fine. Can you please suggest me here ?
Ans. Your problem here is not clear...Is this a Work Item or mail ?.. Is your subject missing with Work Item in DE ?...
2. For the (sent) From email address instead of email something like WF_USER , i have to display like below :

Email Parsing - Subject, From, To, etc

I'd like to use Java to parse emails to get things like the subject line, from email address, to email address, etc. Where is a good place to start? After I get the parsing done, I'll later be doing more to work an filtering spam and viruses. But, first things first...

We have the .eml files stored in a folder on our server. We want to read the .eml files and then do the parsing. I see there are functions like getFrom and getSubject that might be useful. However, I'm not sure how to create a message from this .eml file. Trying a real basic example like this doesn't work:

MimeMessage message = new MimeMessage(mailSession, email);
System.out.println(message.getFrom());
What am I doing wrong?

Extracting files from Portfolio - problem with outlook email created portfolios

Currently I have developed a plugin that can extract files from portfolios using:-
PDNameTree tree = PDDocGetNameTree(pdDoc, ASAtomFromString("EmbeddedFiles"));
and
PDFileAttachmentFromCosObj
But i've noticed with Outlook email created portfolios the above is PDNameTree invalid. any suggestions? is it under another atom string or something?

ok, found something out here... if I close the doc using AVDocClose then re-open in the code using PDDocOpen then the PDNameTree tree = PDDocGetNameTree(pdDoc, ASAtomFromString("EmbeddedFiles")); works!!!
but now I have a problem getting the original pdf open filename.
usually can get it with below code but it's returning the Folder path + garbage instead. (this only happens with portfolios created by outlook that I have tested)
There must be a better way of doing this, any ideas? thanks, lee.

SharePoint mail handler could not extract attachment from a certain type of eml emails

I found out why SharePoint mail handler could not extract attachment from a certain type of eml emails. The eml emails not working me were constructed with this structure, using one attachment as example:
If I removed the highlighted red part, it just worked.

I know little about eml file structure. Either the structure is wrong or the sharepoint has a bug!

Incoming emails not visable,cannot see Subject - from or date

in only 1 of my 4 accounts emails come in but are not visible to view Subject From and Date there are just bars across the field.
However in the lower preview section the full email is visible how do i fix this
I tried folder repair with no luck.
The computer is running windows 8
Thunderbird version 31.5.0

right click the folder, select properties and then the repair button, and we will see what is recovered.

Extract email addresses from email header - Sender (From) - Mail

Hi!
I would like to extract email addresses from email header from field "Sender (From)" and from email body in Mail at the same time.
I saw only scripts how to extract from email body.
I get emails asking for some informations about product and many people don't include their email address in the body, so I have to extract from email header as well.
I would like to extract email addresses from whole email account, separate alphabeticaly, delete duplicates and save it (separated by comma) in text file.
This I would use for sending massive email to all customers.
I'm on OSX 10.6.8.
Do you have please somebody script for extracting email addresses in the way:
1. select mail account
2. run script
3. save email addresses to txt file

Maybe I'm doing something wrong...
1. I switched off in Mail "Use Smart Addresses".
2. I changed the path to my account in both commands:
Command A.

It can extract to .txt file only email addresses from email header which includes after the name as well email address.
Example:

If there is in header only the name without the email address then it's not extracted (email is visible after secondary click on the name)

I just checked that most of emails I have has in the emailheader only the name without the email address so I miss most of email addresses.

Inbox preview problem - cannot see subject, from, date etc but can read emails..

Hello All
I am using Thunderbird on a Mac, this problem began yesterday.
The preview section of my inbox is not showing that is things like subject, from, date etc all I am seeing is blank rows but I can still click on these rows to see my messages.
I have attached a screenshot to show the problem, I am quite baffled by this.
I am running 4 inboxes but only this one has the problem, it is through imap, (screenshot attached of the inbox properties)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a video clip in which I want to take the audio of actor speaking and put it onto another video.
I.e. he is speaking about walking in the park. I want to take him speaking about walking in the park and put it onto the clip where he is actually walking in the park.

Welcome to the forum. There are several ways to accomplish this, and your choice might well rest on how you like to work, and what you are doing, such as Deleteing Video. First, you could Export/Share just the Audio as a PCM/WAV @ 48KHz 16-bit, from your Timeline, and Import that into a New Project, where the Audio WAV file would be used. OTOH, you could Atl-click on the Video portion of the muxed file, and Delete the Video, leaving only the Audio portion. Good luck, Hunt
