Extracting classfiles on startup takes a long time

Hello,
When I start my Weblogic server, it now takes several minutes to startup. It
hangs for a long time with the line "extracting classfiles to .../_tmp_war_mydomain_app."
It only recently started doing this and I'm wondering if I've accidentally changed
something in my config.xml file to cause this. Can anyone help me understand
why it might suddenly be doing this?
Thanks a lot!
Rocky

Thanks, Mark.
When you say the "System Classpath" do you mean the classpath that is specified
in my startWeblogic.sh script? What do you mean when you say my classes should
go in the application?
My environment is pretty simple. I'm on Solaris. I am using a content management
system - FatWire's UpdateEngine - running on WebLogic. I have a couple of servlets
in .../WEB-INF/classes and a jar file with some helper classes in .../WEB-INF/lib.
My files just handle security, some personalizaton, dynamic html page building,
etc. on top of the UpdateEngine product. I also have a couple of jar files that
help with some AS400 stuff I'm doing. Those are also in the .../WEB-INF/lib directory.
So what is WebLogic doing when it says, "Extracting classfiles ...?" Where should
my jar files be referenced if not in the classpath variable in startWeblogic.sh?
Thanks, again.

If you provide some more info, like the thread dumps, or more about your

Hi!
Both my development and production servers do this. I'm on WL 6.1.My
application
is very small so I just jar my files up and put them in my /lib directory.I
put my jar file in my Weblogic classpath in my startWeblogic script.Should I
do this differently?
Thanks!

Are you in development or production?
(My guess is the former)
Are you on what version of WLS?
Are you deploying an exploded or archived war?
(you should deploy in development the former).
Cheers

  • 0CRM_SALES_ACT_1 takes a long time to extract data from CRM system

    Hi gurus,
I am using the datasource 0CRM_SALES_ACT_1 to extract activities data from CRM side. However, it is taking too long time to get any information there.
I applied the SAP NOTE 829397 (Activity extraction takes a long time: 0crm_sales_act_1) but it did not solve my problem.
Does anybody knows something about that?
    Thanks in advance,
    Silvio Messias.

    Hi Silvio,
I've experienced a similar problem with this extractor.  I attempted to Initialize Delta with Data Transfer to no avail.  The job ran for 12+ hours and stayed in "yellow" status (0 records extracted).  The following steps worked for me:
    1.  Initialize Delta without Data Transfer
    2.  Run Delta Update
    3.  Run Full Update and Indicate Request as Repair Request
Worked like a champ, data load finished in less than 2 minutes.
    Hopefully this will help.
    Regards.
    Jason

firefox 4 takes a long time to startup at this point i am thinking about going back to internet explorer as my default browser. what is going on??

Click the Firefox button, go to Add-ons, then Plugins and disable "'''My Web Search'''". This is adware which runs in the background and spends its time trawling the web searching for ads to feed you.
Also, something shows in your system details with the number '''2,5,3,1 '''. Can you tell me what that is please? It's located in the same Plugins menu.
Similarly, I see three versions of Veetle. Disable the older ones if you don't need them.
On the security side, your Flash player is out of date and exposes your system to exploits. See: http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb11-12.html (Update link near the foot of the page).
If the problem persists, try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If it functions properly in that configuration, then one of your add-ons is the culprit.

Does anyone know what these entries are and some possible options to speed up the startup process? Thanks. I have already gone through the notes for Virtual memory and  heap settings for SUN systems. Has anyone had any similar experience?
    Thanks!

What SP are you on?  We had a similar issue w/SP6 but it was resoloved with SP7.

  • Aperture 3.1 takes incredibly long time to start

Since after the upgrade from 3.0.x to 3.1 Aperture takes a long time to start up. I click on the Aperture icon in the dock, the icon bounces for almost a minute, then it stays still for more than a minute, doing nothing and without the "light bulb" indicator that the app is running. It's just sitting there in the dock. After a total of 2-5 minutes, the Aperture window opens and I can start working.
I tried many things suggested in the forums to speed up Aperture:
    I turned off Faces
I turned off sharing of previews with iLife and iWork
I turned off using embedded JPEGs from camera
I deleted all Aperture preferences as I thought there might be a corruption after upgrade
I removed all plugins from Aperture plugin folder to make sure nothing is interfering
I used the Aperture rebuild and repair options on the library
I created a new Aperture library and imported my photos from the old library into a fresh one
I downloaded and installed the Aperture 3.1 update again to make sure nothing got corrupted during update installation
Nothing helped. Aperture takes 2-3 minutes to fully start.
Plugins in use: NIK Software's Viveza 2 and HDR Efex Pro, Tiltshift for Aperture. That's it. And, as I said, it doesn't help if I take them out of Aperture's plugin folder so they don't get loaded. Problem still remains.
My library isn't that big: 29GB in 8230 items. Is 2-3 minutes a normal startup time?
Has anyone experienced a similar problem after upgrading? As I literally exchanged everything underneath Aperture (deleted preference files, created new library and imported photos from old lib) I don't know what else I could try. Totally uninstall Aperture and re-install it again?
Any suggestions what this could be?
On a sidenote, interestingly Logic Pro takes about the same amount of time to start. The icon bounces in the dock for almost 1 minute, then I hear the harddisk working for another minute until the splash screen finally appears. Logic Pro is loaded after 2 minutes and 20 seconds. I could boot my whole Mac 4x in that timeframe.

To everybody having this problem. I found out what the culprit was. As a documentation here is what it was.
I read some posts here on the forums that mounted USB sticks or flash cards would make Aperture super slow while importing photos. I have Boot Camp installed and have a Windows 7 partition on the same drive as my MacOS. So, out of curiosity, I forced it to unmount as the partition automatically gets mounted by the OS.
Voilà! That seems to have been the culprit! Now both Aperture and Logic (which also had to think 2 minutes before it decided to start) display the splash screen in seconds and start like they are supposed to.
Make sure you have no drives mounted when starting these applications. This helped bringing down the starting time from 2 minutes and 20 seconds to just a few seconds. Of course, if you have your library on another drive you have to have it mounted. Maybe it only takes so long when you have Boot Camp and an NTFS partition. But if you experience lags starting these apps, try unmounting what you don't need.

  • Firefox takes very long time to open and often crashes for some websites

i have used firefox 3.6 with windows xp, vista and now windows 7. there is same problem i am facing at all after well usage of week. firefox takes very long time to open approx. 1 minute at first click. after refreshing computer when i click again, it becomes ready to use but meanwhile you re working firefox opens in another window perhaps for the first click. what is this please? i have reinstalled firefox but it is not fixing problem

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list.  Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
    Alternatively, see:
Reinstall OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Choose the version you have installed now:
OS X Yosemite- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

You have SCADS of extensions and the things running. McAfee, Intego, Orbicule, CleanMyMac, and others I've not ever even heard of. My first recommendation would be to remove all of these and see if things improve.

  • Snow Leopard 10.6.2 takes a long time to run 'X11.app' (with system log)

Hello everyone, English is not my mother tongue so may not be exactly correct, sorry about that.
    Background:
I have a MacBook White (13-inch, Mid 2009) that isn't unibody, and was running Leopard 10.5.
I did a clean installation and now Snow Leopard 10.6.2, with iLife, iWork, and many many apps.
I am the only one who will use the Mac and my user account is as the 'admin'.
I previously had a problem concerning X11 too:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2343732
    *What I've done:*
    (1) rename my HD to 'Michaels_Home' under 'Get Info' from Finder (I can't rename in Disk Utility though)
    (2) press return (enter)
    (3) change my home folder path to the '/Volumes/Michaels_Home/Users/Michael' (http://eshop.macsales.com/Reviews/Framework.cfm?page=Tips/relocate3/relocate3.ht ml)
    (4) restart
    (5) log in and open X11
    (6) problem solved!!
    ==========
*BUT NOW* I have a problem after:
    (1) log in as the root user, and use command +ditto -V xyz xyz+ to copy my home folder from '/Volumes/Michaels_Home/Users/Michael' to '/Users>Michael'
    (2) change my home folder path to the '/Users/Michael' (http://eshop.macsales.com/Reviews/Framework.cfm?page=Tips/relocate3/relocate3.ht ml)
    (3) use the Mac OS X Snow Leopard USD$29 disc to boot my Mac up
    (4) delete the 'Michaels_Home' partition (I had 3 partitions: (1) Macintosh HD (2) Michaels_Home (3) Windows XP Professional)
    (5) resize the 'Macintosh HD' partition
    (6) boot from Macintosh HD
    (7) find that there's a problem about X11
    _The problem:_
it takes a *long time* for X11 to start.
When I try to open the 'X11.app', the X11 icon begins jumping on the Dock, but nothing happens.
Jumping and jumping... finally, it doesn't jump any more, with just the X11 icon on the dock.
What's more, there is no white dot under the icon, which means the app isn't running at the moment.
I right-clicked the icon, it shows me 'application not responding'.
So, I open the *Activity Monitor*, and I can see there are 3 apps related to X11 are running:
    (1) X11
    (2) X11.bin
    (3) xauth
*At the moment now, if you would wait for about 1.5 min., X11 will open.*
Please see below for the system log (from 'FREEZING' to 'WORKING')

So what actually causes this problem?
    Thanks in advance!

It turns out that there's something wrong about permissions.
    Here's the fix:
    (1) log in as the +root user+
    (2) type +chown -R Michael:staff ~Michael+
    (3) log out the +root user+
    (4) log in your account
    (5) done!
Hope this thread will help those who encounter the same problem as me!

  • OPM process execution process parameters takes too long time to complete

PROCESS_PARAMETERS are inserted every 15 min. using gme_api_pub packages. some times it takes too long time to complete the batch ,ie completion of request. it takes about 5-6 hrs long time ,in other time s it takes only 15-20 mins. This happens at regular interval...if anybody can guide me I will be thankful to him/her..
    thanks in advance.
    regds,
    Shailesh

Generally the slowest part of the process is in the extraction itself...
Check in your source system and see how long the processes are taking, if there are delays, locks or dumps in the database... If your source is R/3 or ECC transactions like SM37, SM21, ST22 can help monitor this activity...
Consider running less processes in parallel if you have too many and see some delays in jobs... Also indexing some of the tables in the source system to expedite the extraction, make sure there are no heavy processes or interfaces running in the source system at the same time you're trying to load... Check with your Basis guys for activity peaks and plan accordingly...
In BW also check in your SM21 for database errors or delays...
    Just some ideas...

  • Deploying application takes a long time

Deploying en exploded EAR takes unually long time and thread
dumps and directory listings show that WebLogic
    1. jars whole app in it's internal folder
    2. unjars ear it just created back to the exploded form

    Hi James,
Thank You for your suggestion. I have some doubts.
    1) You suggested to revert back to old parameter and restart jDEV. What is the parameter i need to revert? I have only changed the max,min and perm size in opmn.xml because I keep getting perm gen error quite often. Did you mean those parameters ?
2)Restarting jDev will solve the issue of longer deployment time for applications. But when I restart the SOA itself, it fails to start.I get the Time out error. On removing the application which took longer time to deploy from server.xml, SOA starts without error. No other changes have been made. So the question is why is the application which is successfully deployed from jdeveloper like many other applications stopping the SOA to start.?
3)Or is the load during SOA startup is high, which results in it failing to start? If so how can I overcome this issue.
    Thanks,
    Ananth

  • It takes a long time to open an app and sometimes it will just crash, any idea how to fix it?

My four year old Macbook Pro couldn't start yesterday and after going through solutions and all, it worked. But now it's freaking laggy and whenever I want to open an app, it takes a long time or the app will just crash. Any idea how to fix it? I really need the speed and everything back.

    noeleeeen,
so you have an external hard disk, onto which you deleted/moved files from your internal hard disk, so that you now have 143 GB or so free on your internal hard disk — is that correct? Is the external disk purely for backups (e.g. a Time Machine destination), or does it function as a supplement to your internal disk?
Was it entirely your personal data files (documents, photos, movies, music, &c.) which you’d deleted or moved to the external disk, or did you also delete/move apps, libraries, &c. over there?
I’m not familiar with Echofon Lite, so I can’t comment on it, but an Apple-supplied app like the App Store shouldn’t crash.
Have you tried running Disk Utility yet, to see if its verification process gives your disks its seal of approval?

  • Firefox takes a long time to close since a recent update and hogs memory.

Since one of the recent updates that started using plugin containers, Firefox takes a long time to close. If I try to go back it, it tells me it is still running. I liik in Task Manager and about seven plug-in container. exe's are running and I have turned off or disabled mostplugins and addons, even Quicktime. Firefox uses an obscene amount of RAM on my XP machine and has made it sluggish. I use XP SP3. This started after you added the plugin containers in one of the recent updates earlier in the year. For the features it offers me or doesn't offer me, rather, it uses way too much RAM and is too sluggish. And takes a very long time to close out when I close the browser. It uses about twice as much RAM as it used to.

Use "Firefox/File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit") to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the title bar.

  • Macbook takes a long time to recognize power soure

    Hello,
I have a MacBook running 10.6.8 that is exhibiting some strange behavior in regards to the power source.  When I plug the power cord in it takes a while, sometimes as long as 3 minutes to recognize that it the computer is no longer running on battery anymore.  Similarly it takes a long time to realize it's no longer running via a power cord when I remove the power cord from the machine.  In all cases it eventually catches up and makes the proper switch, but I'm a bit concerned as this behavior is relatively new.  I've tried swapping out power cords and it doesn't make any difference.  I only have one user on the machine but could create a test account and try to see if this behavior is account specific if someone things that is worthwhile.  Another thing to note, I believe the battery level indicator is correct, because often when it catches up after I've inserted the power cord the percent full jumps a couple of digits, as if it'd been charging for a while.  Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas that I could try to remedy this?  So far, I've really only tried repairing disk permissions as I've never seen an issue like this before.  Thanks.
    -NifflerX

    How long is "forever"?
Create a new user account. Log out of the original and into the new one, then put the machine to sleep. Any changes?
