F4 help-only posted values-Bex variable input

Hi
I have one hierarchy node variable on an infoobject.This infoobject is authorisation-relevent.The infoobjects hierarchy is activated in query designer.We have many hierarchies for this infoobject,one for every year.Recently,we chose new hierarchy for this infoobject as we moved into year 2011.
When I execute the query,in the variable input help F4 of the hierarchy node variable on this infoobject,I could see only some nodes(I couldnot see the required one).My user is unable to see anything.Please suggest how I can fix this problem.
I have two problem:
1.I want to see the present nodes it is showing together with some more nodes that came with new hierarchy
2.As of now,my business USER is unable to see anything in F4 help for this variable...I want him to see the nodes which I would like to see also.
How can I fix these problems?All suggestions are welcome.
My investigation:
I checked infoobject settings..'Query Execution Filter Val.Selectn' is set to 'Only Posted values for navigation'....Does that mean infoobject will show only those values in F4 help that the query can find data for,in infocube in current navigation state..??
And there are two other options which can be choosen at infoobject level for 'Query Execution Filter Val.Selectn':
1.'Only Values in Infoprovider'--It will show only those values in F4 help for which there are values in dimension tables of cube/ods(does it mean in other way ,that master data for which we have transaction data in cube/ods???)
2.Values in Master Data tables:all values from master data tables.

Hi,
at the infoobject level always you need to select "all master data values".
please check the version of the hierarchy what ever you are using till 2010 you might be using one version in 2011.
load the info-object with the new version at the infopackage level.

Only posted values for Navigation does not work

I have a problem where all master data is shown in the input help for a variable, even when the setting for the info object is to show only posted values.
In a WEB template I have tree reports using tree different data providers. The setting in the web template is to show the same variable only once and that works. The setting of the info objects is to show only posted values. That does not work!
When using the input help for a variable, all master data shows, not only the poster values in the data providers.
When unchecking the setting Display Same Variable Only Once (MELT_VARBLES) the variables appears tree times each and the input help works as expected. It shows only posted values.
Any experience of this?

Hi Kent,
If you build several queries on different infoproviders, then put them into one web template or workbook. Variables from different queries with the same technical name will get merged in variable screen (Set parameter MERGE_VARIABLES=True in web template property. Set "Display Duplicated Variables Only Once" in workbook settings for variables).
This means, that it is not possible to decide which infoprovider the variable is based on. The provider is unknown to the system when doing F4 help so that D mode is not possible since D mode [Only Values in InfoProvider] is also infoprovider dependent. So only M mode ['Values in Master Data Table'] is possible.
In such merge variable situation, the authorizated values in F4 help is also retrieved without specific infoprovider.

i have an input field in that i would like to enter
only numeric values. no special characters,alphabets .

Hi Venuthurupalli,
As valery has said once you select the value to be of type integer,once you perform an action it will be validated and error message that non numeric characters are there will be shown. If you want to set additional constraints like max value, min value etc you can use simple types for it.
On the project structure on left hand side under local dictionary ->datatypes->simple types create a simple type of type integer
The attribute which you are binding to value property ;make its type as simple type which you made

BEx Variable input Issue

Hi everyone,
                   I have an issue with Input Parameters in BEx Variable Screen. For Example, I have included Customer Name in the Variable Screen. Then , the user says, he does not remember the complete customer name. There will be thousands of names. Instead he remembers only a few Initial Characters. For example, if the customer Name is ZSAMSUNG. He only remembers ZS out of the whole name.
In that case, he wants to enter ZS* in the Variable Selection Screen for Customer Name. But this is not working in BEx. It says invalid Parameters. I have created a Characteristic variable with Manual Entry.
Currently, I am working on BI7.0, Support Package 11.
Please provide your valuable inputs.
1) Is it possible create a Customer Exit Variable for the same with some logic.

Sry, but I think that this functionallity is allredy usable in Bex.
When the variable-screen appears, the customer has to press F4 for help.
Another screen pos up.
-> in that screen, in the FIRST ROW, the customer can seach by therms:
   in the first column: KEYS
   secound column: Text
   other columns: attributes if available
he also has the possibility to search with *
like ZS* for ZSAMSUNG

BEx Variable Input Help (F4) Maximum Number of Rows

Hi Experts,
We using Bex 3.x version. Now, the user is asking to change the maximum number of rows (by default 500, for my case) to 1000. (While executing the workbook, on the variable pop-up screen where we can search for input help (F4) values). For surely, there is some global setting needs to be corrected but not sure. I have checked in T-code: SPRO and some of the threads but not get the apt solution.
Could you please share us your inputs/experiences as how can we increase maximum number of rows in the input help.

BEx variable input value

Hi,
I have created a BEx Query, now based on selection screen inputs.
Selection Screen Inputs:
MATNR -
PLANT-
SLEVEL-(User Input Value) Mandatory
Now when i select inputs at the time of running query eg;
MATNR - 'ABC'
PLANT-'A123'
SLEVEL-'0.55' (User Input Value)
Now my report should look like this.
MATNR | PLANT | SLEVEL
ABC A123 0.55
ABC A123 0.55
Here SLEVEL value shld be user input value. How to achive this?

Using Formula varible and Boolean expression concept you can get it.
1) Define a formula varible with user entry.
2) USe the varaible in the expression ,for ex:
FV2 = (fORMULAVARIABLE == SLEVEL ) * SLEVEL
3) PUT CONDITION on FV2 not equal to 0.
OR
Simply use Condition Varaible.

BEx Variable Input Parameter

Hi everybody,
I am doing a BEx report and I have created User Exit variables and Text Variables based on InfoObjects that exists in the InfoCube. But I am needing a Globla Variable, that is not related to the InfoObjects in the InfoCube; depending of the values of this variable, some claculated key figures will have a diferent behaviour.
Please, how can I create a variable of this type? is it possible in Bex? if not, any suggestions?

In the Variable screen, you are giving 1 or 2 or 3, you need to get the description for that. Can you tell where you created this Variable? on which info object you created? for that same info object maintain the Texts
1:Equipment
2: Physical units
3: some thing.. etc.
display this value with either Text or Key and Text.

Aggregation level query "value help" = Only Values in InfoProv doesn't work

I have a problem with Selection Variable for a BEx Query :
- I'm working with SAP BI 7.0 support package 15
- My query is an input ready query built for an "aggregation level" based on "real time infocube" (Planning);
- Characteristic, I want to filter with variable, has query property Advanced->Query Execution for Filter Value Selection = Only Values in InfoProvider
- Characteristic (info-object) has set the property: Business Explorer tab--> Query Def. Filter Value Selection as Only Values in the info-provider...
My problem is:
when I execute a query,
the Select Values for Variables screen appears
I push on the Select from List button
and Select Values For MyCharacteristic appears...
but it shows me all values in master data table of my characteristic instead of only values in the infoprovider!!!
If I build a query for the Real Time Cube it works correctly, but if the query is built for the aggregation level it doesn't work!
Could someone explain me why it doesn't work correctly?

the aggregation level is always a Virtual Provider built other
InfoProvider and hence it does not have the dimension table and hence
the F4 mode D is not supported.
Therefore when aggregation level is used in a query, F4 does not supportD-mode: 'Only Values in InfoProvider' and all master data values are
displayed in the value list.

Take influence on search help (F4) for BEx variables

Hi Experts,
we use BI 7.3.
Within the release 3.x we had the possibility to influence the search help of Bex Variables via the transaction se12 -> search help --> search help exit.
This fuba is still used for the search help in the screen to maintain masterdata. However it is not used anymore for the search help in the selection screen for BEx variables.
Do I have any new possibilities to take influence on the values shown in the search help? I don't want to show all values in the masterdata table, and not even all values which are stored in the infoProvider.

Dear Frederike,
In that case you should maintain the read mode as "Only Posted Values for Navigation" ; This means only values that are part of the query results are used for the input value request . This mode is called Q.
RSA1 -> Info-object display -> Business Explorer Tab -> Query Def. Filter Value Selection -> change to Q Mode..
You can overwrite the value in Infoprovider level as well. Goto Info-provider -> Right click Infooprovide specific properties -> change there as well..

Rectrict list of possible values for variable in Bex

Hello folks!
I need to give a user possibility to choose only few value for variable in Bex report. Number of entries in master data is huge. I need to show only 7 possible values in the window with variables.

You have a tricky requirement but I can only think of one thing but it would require user training. Try the following.
You can setup a new variable with default values and define it as type multiple single values.
The user could in the variable screen would then need to take out the ones that are not needed.

F4 Input values for variables based on Navigation Attributes

Hi,
We would like to use the option "Q Only Posted values for navigation" from the set F4 mode 'Query Execution Filter Val. Selectn' in the Multiprovider specific properties.
The problem is that this option Works for Infoobject stored on the infocube, but It doesn't work for Navigation Attributes.
Question : Could you please tell us how to use the option "Q Only Posted values for navigation" with _Navigation Attributes _ ?

The input help only offers values for which you can select data in the current navigational state

Enhancing standard (single select)search help for Multiple value selection

Hi,
Standard search help for Business Partner (in cProjects) allows only single value selection for input fields. I want to make this multiple selection.
Is there a way to do it.
I used an OVS and built a similar search but its difficult to get the standard options like saving to personal value list etc in it.
It would be good if there is a way to modify the standard search help to allow multiple selection. Any ideas??

As far as I know you can't make a standard ABAP dictionary search help return multiple entries - where you get this sort of functionality the searches don't use the standard Elementary search help framework (e.g. organisational structure searches)
Given that the WDA search help relies on these dictionary based searches, I'd think very much that you couldn't enhance it to return multiple. how you could even return multiple entries into a single UI element input field is also confusing to me.
I'd suggest creating a freely programmed value help, it would certainly take quite some effort to recreate those personal value lists etc, but it could be done - I don't like OVS, but that just me.

How to replace the values in variable selection Screen urgent plz

While selecting user view as 1,2 .Now my requirement is to replace the value 1=monthly and 2=ytd while the user passing the value to avoid the confusion.

You please try the following steps:
1. Say the InfoObject is 0EMPLOYEE against which you have created the variable, which user is trying to select value against, when they execute the report.
2. Goto RSA1-> InfoObject tab-> Select InfoObject 0EMPLOYEE.
3. Selcet the following options:
Query Execution Filter Val. Selectn - 'Only Posted Value for Navigation'
Filter Value Repr. At Query Exec. - 'Selector Box Without Values'

Scrap Values in Variable Selection Screen

Hi,
When the end user is trying to select a filter value for the characteristic in a workbook, the selection value screen displays a lot of scrap values, when he closes the selection screen and tries again to select a filter value then it displays the correct values. Can anyone please let me know how i can avoid the scrap values to be displayed or how i can remove the scrap values that are displayed.

Hi,
Your Master data values might contain the junk values. That is the reason showing junk values in variable screen.
At filter value selection you might have in the option 'Only Posted values for Navigation' option in InfoObject Properties->Business Explorer Properties.

Variables/Input Parameters Value help not showing texts

Hello,
I have created a crystal report based on a calculation view in Crystal Reports for Enterprise 4.1 SP5, which has a input parameter on the field "Region". For the value help, I am using a custom view based on T005U in which I have made sure that RegionName field is present in the "Label Column" property of the Region field.(Required for viewing descriptions of LOVs).
In the crystal report, while previewing data in the query builder, I am able to see the value help for the input parameter in the prompt screen, which displays only the key part, but does not display the description of it. Moreover, after accepting the prompt value, the preview runs into an error(as shown below). Please note that I get the error below only when Region is a part of the output fields of the query.
Instead of input parameter, when I create a variable on the region field in the main calculation view, with the same value help view, I am able to do data preview in the query builder as also data appears in the report on running the query. But, just as in the case of input parameter value help in the prompt screen, even over here, I am only able to see the key part and not the description.
Are variables/input parameter LOV's supposed to display descriptions or just the key part? As also, any reason why I should be getting this error while using Input parameter?
Kindly let me know if I am missing something in the development of this report.

Hi,
I hope you are taking the BEx Query as a source to the crystal report. In the BEx query check region info object should is maintained as Text and Key. If text is not maintained over there you will not be getting text in Crystal reports.
