Thanks Sebastian for your input.
yes. my lan2 is used for Cluster_interconnect which is having subnet 255.255.255.240.
Below are IPs used for RAC
Public
Node1: 10.10.1.173/255.255.240.0
Node2: 10.10.1.174/255.255.240.0
Private
Node1: 10.10.16.50/255.255.255.240
Node2: 10.10.16.51/255.255.255.240
Virtual
Node1: 10.10.1.191/255.255.240.0
Node2: 10.10.1.192/255.255.240.0
SCAN (Defined in DNS)
10.10.1.193/255.255.240.0
10.10.1.194/255.255.240.0
10.10.1.195/255.255.240.0
As you said, I will scrap GI Software again & will try with 255.255.255.0.
I Believe this Redundant Interconnect and ora.cluster_interconnect.haip present in 11.2.0.2.0 Version.
Oracle says:
Redundant Interconnect without any 3rd-party IP failover technology (bond, IPMP or similar) is supported natively by Grid Infrastructure starting from 11.2.0.2. Multiple private network adapters can be defined either during the installation phase or afterward using the oifcfg. Oracle Database, CSS, OCR, CRS, CTSS, and EVM components in 11.2.0.2 employ it automatically.
Grid Infrastructure can activate a maximum of four private network adapters at a time even if more are defined. The ora.cluster_interconnect.haip resource will start one to four link local HAIP on private network adapters for interconnect communication for Oracle RAC, Oracle ASM, and Oracle ACFS etc.
Grid automatically picks link local addresses from reserved 169.254.*.* subnet for HAIP, and it will not attempt to use any 169.254.*.* address if it's already in use for another purpose. With HAIP, by default, interconnect traffic will be load balanced across all active interconnect interfaces, and corresponding HAIP address will be failed over transparently to other adapters if one fails or becomes non-communicative. .
The number of HAIP addresses is decided by how many private network adapters are active when Grid comes up on the first node in the cluster . If there's only one active private network, Grid will create one; if two, Grid will create two; and if more than two, Grid will create four HAIPs. The number of HAIPs won't change even if more private network adapters are activated later, a restart of clusterware on all nodes is required for new adapters to become effective.
In my Setup, I am having Teaming for NIC's for Public & Private Interface. So I am thinking to break teaming of NICs because HAIP internally searching for next available NIC & not getting as all 4 are already in used with OS level NIC teaming.
My only Concern is, as I am going to change subnet for the Private IPs, should I change Private IP address ????
Thanks for the Support...
Regards,
Manish

NTP mustn't be a problem I guess as the date are identical on the 2 nodes.
I have no idea how to fix the TCP connectivity issue with the subnet "192.168.1.0". Some posts wrote that could be a firewall issue. Are there any other causes ?

RAC: When 1st node started, the 2nd node failed to start
I got a problem in Oracle 10gR2 RAC on Windows 2003R2 Domain member environment. I have a 2 nodes RAC using ASM in 2 MS Windows 2003 Standard Server, it is a clean environment, only have Oracle and Norton Antivirus software installed.
When the 1st node started successfully from booting up the machine, the 2nd node is failed to startup. It stays in the Windows startup screen (Applying Computer Setting ...) for more then 1 hour. Eventually, the window login screen come out, but I cannot login to the system after input username and password. This situation is reversable (the 1st node failed to start if I startup the 2nd node first).
In case I set the Oracle Services (OracleCRService and OracleEVMService) into Manual startup at 2nd Nodes, the 2nd node can startup smoothly. After login to the 2nd node, I can start these 2 oracle services without problem.
P.S. This problem is just happened after applied I applied all MS Security Update on 10 Apr, 2008.
Any suggestion how to shoot this problem? Thanks.

ckhlamA couple of things you could try :
a) Disable the Norton AntiVirus Software and check whether rebooting the
Server allows the CRS stack to come up. Recall reading about an issue
where-in NAV waits for the Network Stack to come up and blocks
CRS's startup sequence. This is just a guess at this time but worth a try.
b) You might also want to check if configuring Oracle Process Manager as detailed
in Note:358156.1 allows the CRS stack to be delayed long enough to fully
initialize the OS stack beneath it.
c) If none of the above helps , you might want to uninstall the MS Security Update
to check if this was a problem introduced by this Patch. You might then have
to work with MS / Oracle to dig further into this.
Do update this thread with your observations on this ..

Can I just retry the root.sh on the 2nd node? or, do I have to do some sort of cleanup and then retry? Please advise.... Thanks, AdolfoAre you using raw disk devices for Oracle 11g RAC? You might want to move to ASM. For starters, your version, 11.1 is no longer fully supported by Oracle Corp. You'll need to be on 11.2.0.3 or higher to be supported. The 11.2.0.3 version loses Extended Support in August I think. The 11.2.0.4 version loses Extended Support in January. All of this means your production Oracle RAC database should be on the 12c version by January. And guess what? Oracle 12c RAC does not support raw disk devices.
Since you're starting with this cluster fresh, why not aim for a configuration that will allow you to go forth into the foreseeable future without major configuration changes?
Cheers,
Brian -
Error after running root.sh on second node
hi,
i have installed clusterware on a 2 node system running on RHEL 5
i followed the prereqs , and solved all the errors i encountered
after clusterware installation , it asks to run root.sh on all the nodes
when i ran root.sh on second node
it gave this error
Running vipca(silent) for configuring nodeapps
/home/oracle/crs/oracle/product/10/crs/jdk/jre//bin/java: error while loading
shared libraries: libpthread.so.0: cannot open shared object file:

so i follwed metalink note 414163.1
after that i called it a day
in the morning , wheni started both nodes
and started vipca on second node
it gave this error

crsctl check crs gave
failure 1 contacting css daemon

cannot communicate with evm
what should i do to start these services?crsd and cssd logs were empty and there was no relevant info in crs alert
i am just reinstalling clusterware now
one thing i wanted to ask
why does owner ship of raw files change back to root (after node restart)
even though i chnged them to oracle -

According to your description, you created SSIS package and it works fine. But you got the error message when the SSIS package was called from a SQL Server Agent job.
According to my knowledge, the package may not run in the following scenarios:
The current user cannot decrypt secrets from the package.
A SQL Server connection that uses integrated security fails because the current user does not have the required permissions.
File access fails because the current user does not have the required permissions to write to the file share that the connection manager accesses.
A registry-based SSIS package configuration uses the HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry keys. The HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry keys are user-specific.
A task or a connection manager requires that the current user account has correct permissions.
According to the error message, the SSIS Package ProtectionLevel property to EncryptSensitiveWithPassword as ArthurZ mentioned. To solve the problem, you need to go to Command Line tab, manually specify the paassword in SQL Agent Job with the command like below:
/FILE "\"C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\SQL Server Management Studio\SSIS\Package.dtsx\"" /DECRYPT somepassword /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING E
If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

Server restore causing some db's to crash on 1st node
Hi all!,
I was wondering if anybody has an idea for why the following happend. I checked the database logs and there's nothing before the crash indicating a problem. Here's what happened on our test RAC 2node cluster servers/db's.
Last week our 2nd node went down due to a patch of the unix os. It was a patch for the next version ahead of ours but our systems didn't catch it until it was too late. The patch was to allow them to not have to bounce each node when adding more disk to the SAN. It crashed the 2nd node as that was where they were starting to apply the patch. This 2nd node has been down all week as they couldn't get it up even with HP support on the line. They decided to restore the image from our 1st node onto the 2nd node and bring it online. When they did, it caused 3 out of 8 databases to suddenly crash on the 1st node. We got them up but need to find out why. Has anyone ever experienced such a thing and/or have any advice as what to look at? I don't know that much about our cluster, could there be parms set to individual db's that could be the culprit?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance for your replies!,
DaveNo, that's what's troubleing. The last entry before crash shows the normal archive log switching that occurs and then the next entry is the database being started.

we have developed packages to do the followings
Extract data from DB2 Source and put it in MS Sql Server 2008 database (Lets Say DatabaseA).From MS Sql Server 2008 (DatabaseA)
we will process the data and place it in another database MS Sql Server 2008 (DatabaseB)
We have created packages in BIDS..We created datasource connection in Datasource folder in BIDS..Which has DB2 Connection and both Ms Sql Server connection (Windows authentication-Let
say its pointing to the server -ServerA which has DatabaseA and DatabaseB).The datasource connections will be used in packages during development.
For deployment we have created Package Configuration which will have both DB2 Connection and MS SqlServer connection in the config
We deployed the packages in different MS SqlServer by changing the connectionstring in the config for DB2 and MS SqlServer...
While runing the package we are getting the following error message
Code: 0xC0016016 Source: Description: Failed to decrypt protected XML node "DTS:Password" with error 0x8009000B "Key not valid for
use in specified state.". You may not be authorized to access this information. This error occurs when there is a cryptographic error. Verify that the correct key is available.
ilikemicrosoftHi Surendiran,
This is because the package has been created by somebody else and the package is being deployed under sombody else's account. e.g. If you are the creator then the package is encryption set according to your account and the package setup in SQL server is
under a different user account.
This happens because the package protection level is set to EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey which encrypts
sensitive information using creator's account name.
As a solution:
Either you have to set up the package in SQL server under your account (which some infrastructures do not allow).
OR
Set the package property Protection Level to "DontSaveSensitive" and add a configuration file
to the package and set the initial values for all the variables and all the connection manager in that configuration file (which might be tedious of-course).
OR
The third options (which I like do) is to open the package file and delete the password encryption entries from the package. Do note that this is not supported by designer and every time you make changes to the connection managers these encryption entries come
back.
Hope this helps.

UCCX 8.0 - 1st node crashed
Hi,
We have a 2-server UCCX 8.0 cluster running on UCS servers. Recently, when moving the publisher (1st node) to a new UCS server, we accidently deleted some files of the Virtual machine. (there are 2 folders in the datastore, named UCCX1 and UCCX1_1; my colleague deleted the UCCX1_1 folder as he thought it was not neccessary). After that, the ESXi kept asking for UCCX1_1\UCCX1_1.vmx file when we trying to boot the server. We had to re-add the server (browse to the vmx file in the datastore, and Add to Inventory); the server could boot up now, but I think we lost all the data (we cannot access to the Application web page).
Now we still have UCCX 2 running, could we force the 1st server to update its database to sync with the UCCX 2? If YES, how to do that?
If NO, what should we do? Re-install everything or is there a better way to recover the cluster?
Thanks,
hoanghiepHi Hoanghiep,
You can not make the UCCX 8.x series second node as the first node, this was supported only on Windows platform (i.e. UCCX 7.x and earlier releases).
If you have taken a valid DRS backup, than yes reinstall the UCCX 8.x first node (with the same details as before like hostnema, ip address, DNS....etc) and than restore this backup.

Restoring only the Publisher Node in an HA Setup (with Rebuild)
In a high availability (HA) setup , if there is a hard-drive failure or any other critical hardware or
Software failure which needs rebuild of the Publisher ( first ) node, then follow the below procedure to
recover the publisher node to the last backed up state of the publisher. Run the below procedure if you
have a valid backup taken before the failure of the node.
Procedure
Step 1 Perform a fresh installation of the same version of Cisco Unified Contact Center Express (using the same
administrator credentials, network configuration and security password used earlier) on the node prior
to restoring it.
For more information on installing Cisco Unified Contact Center Express, see the Installing Cisco
Unified Contact Center Express available here:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/custcosw/ps1846/prod_installation_guides_list.html
Step 2 Navigate to Cisco Unified Contact Center Administration, select Disaster Recovery System from the
Navigation drop-down list box in the upper-right corner of the Cisco Unified Contact Center Express
Administration window, and click Go.
The Disaster Recovery System Logon window displays.
Step 3 Log in to the Disaster Recovery System by using the same Platform Administrator username and
password that you use to log in to Cisco Unified Operating System Administration.
Step 4 Configure the backup device. For more information, see Managing Backup Devices, page 7.
Step 5 Navigate to Restore > Restore Wizard. The Restore Wizard Step 1 window displays.
Step 6 In the Select Backup Device area, choose the backup device from which to restore.
Step 7 Click Next. The Restore Wizard Step 2 window displays.
Step 8 Choose the backup file that you want to restore.
Note The backup filename indicates the date and time that the system created the backup file.
Step 9 Click Next. The Restore Wizard Step 3 window displays.
Step 10 Select the feature UCCX.
Step 11 Click Next. The Restore Wizard Step 4 window displays,
Step 12 When you get prompted to choose the nodes to restore, choose only the first node (the publisher).
CautionDo not select the second (subscriber) node in this condition as this will result in failure of the restore attempt.
Step 13 To start restoring the data, click Restore.
Note During the restore process, do not perform any tasks with Cisco Unified Contact Center Express
Administration or User Options.
Restoring the first node may take up to several hours based on the size of database that is being restored.
Depending on the size of your database that you choose to restore, the system can require one hour or
more to restore.
Note Based on the requirements, you have the option to either retrieve the existing publisher node data
from the DRS backup to be available on all the nodes in the cluster or retrieve the more recent
data (if available) from the subscriber node to be available in the cluster.
Step 14 Run the following CLI command from the Subscriber node after the restore process is successful (restore
status indicates 100 per cent) to inititate restoring the Publisher node only (with rebuild).
utils uccx setuppubrestore
Step 15 Run the following CLI command on the target node; that is if you want to retrieve the publisher node’s
data, then run this command on the subscriber node, but if you want to retrieve the subscriber node’s data
(which is more up-to-date), then run this command on the publisher node.
utils uccx database forcedatasync
Warning In any case, you must execute this command on either of the nodes after restoring the publisher node.
Step 16 Restart both the nodes and run the following CLI command on the Publisher node to set up replication.
utils uccx dbreplication reset
For more information on restarting, see the Cisco Unified Communications Operating System
Administration Guide available here:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/custcosw/ps1846/prod_maintenance_guides_list.html.
CautionIf you have done some configuration or hardware changes while performing fresh installation in Step 1 that might impact the License MAC, then rehost your license again using the license rehosting mechanism before running the CLI command “utils uccx dbreplication reset”. For more information on the licensing rehosting mechanism, see the Installing Cisco Unified Contact Center Express available here:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/custcosw/ps1846/prod_installation_guides_list.html
Step 17 Your data gets restored on the publisher node. To view the status of the restore, see the “Viewing the
Restore Status” section on page 19.
Hope this helps.

Failed to decrypt protected XML node "DTS:Password" with error 0x8009000B
Hi,
I have developed several SSIS packages with the last Beta of VS2005 / SQL Server CTP. After the public release I tried to uninstall the CTP-Versions to install the msdn finals but this time I got lost and was not able to satisfy the requirements of the final setup of VS2005. So I decided to install the whole pc again and after some hours I had a clean machine (XP with latest SQL Server 2005 Standard and VS2005 Professional). Now I have tried to open my SSIS-Project but getting the following error: Error loading ImpNetqNewsRss.dtsx: Failed to decrypt protected XML node "DTS:Password" with error 0x8009000B "Schlüssel ist im angegebenen Status nicht gültig.". You may not be authorized to access this information. This error occurs when there is a cryptographic error. Verify that the correct key is available.
After some “googleing” I found this thread: http://forums.microsoft.com/msdn/showpost.aspx?postid=22739&siteid=1 If I’m right the solution should be to use a Package Password, but I can’t figure out where I have to go enter/change a password. I even can’t remember I that ever used a password on my old installation for a dtsx-package?? Any help is welcome… Regards, DirkLet's Say your package name is MyPackage
In Visual Studio Go to Control Flow Tab.
Righ Click on an empty area inside the window not clicking "Data Flow Component" . pop up menu click the the properties to get to the properties window of MyPackage package.
Under the Security Area -> You will see
ProtectionLevel -- Change that to EncryptSensitiveWithPassword
PackagePassword -- enter password-> temp
This should do the trick however to be sure:
Below you will connection managers:
Database Connections (if more than one preform on all)
Double Click your connection to get the property pages. Click "ALL" under the Connection Link on Left Side. Scroll Down to Security Area.
Provide the followings:
Password (for the sql userid being used)
Persist Security Info = True
Save the Package and connect to SQL Integration Srvices in SQL Manager (To Server e.g; DBServer (Integration Services)
Stored Packages -> MSDB --> Right Click --> choose Import Package
in the property dialog box
Package Location : File System
Package Path -- Choose the location of your dtsx file. (MyPackage.dtsx)
Leave everything default.
Click OK.
Dialog box will appear asking for the Package Password
Provide the password-> temp
You have successfully imported the package called MyPackage.
In order to create a job.
In the job Step->
Type: SQL Server Integration Services Package
In the General Tab:
Package Source : SSIS Package Store
Server : DBServer (Where we stored our package above)
Click the button for the package: Choose your package (MyPackage)
Click OK :
It will ask the package password again : temp
Package has successfully been loaded to Job Step. Now you can schedule and do a test run on the job.
Thanks for the patience of reading for those who are expert.

WDRuntimeException: Failed to create J2EE cluster node in SLD
Hello,
I am getting the below error, but to my knowledge I have everything set up properly. Let me briefly outline the logistics (I am running everything LOCALLY (will move to remote later)):
WAS 6.4 <b>SP12</b>
Set up JCo and tests fine
Set up Visual Administrator / SLD Data Supplier / HTTP and CIM configured and seem to test fine
Created SLD and it tests OK
Created Technical Landscape
I have noticed that in SP12, in the SLD config I actually have a NEW category called "<b>System Landscape</b>" above my "Technical Landscape" link. I have not seen this option in previous versions SP9 or SP11. Is it mandatory to configure this?
Also, I created a model for Adaptive RFC and found the function I needed successfully.
Anyway, here is the error when trying to deploy...
com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.WDRuntimeException: Error while obtaining JCO connection.
at com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.datatypes.core.DataTypeBroker$1.fillSldConnection(DataTypeBroker.java:90)
Caused by: com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.sal.sl.api.WDSystemLandscapeException: Error while obtaining JCO connection.
Caused by: com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.WDRuntimeException: Failed to create J2EE cluster node in SLD for 'J2E.SystemHome.bc347792': com.sap.lcr.api.cimclient.LcrException: CIM_ERR_NOT_FOUND: No such instance: SAP_J2EEEngineCluster.CreationClassName="SAP_J2EEEngineCluster",Name="J2E.SystemHome.bc347792"
Any help will be appreciated!I figured it out for those that may have a similar problem.
Although I had created and tested my JCo's properly and they were working fine, somehow, and I still don't know why, they went RED in the JCo Maintainence screen.
I had to "create" again and it works fine now. -
Open Firefox and navigate to web site. Try to save to bookmarks and get the "assertion Failed" message and "Assert: parent node must have _DOMElement set" followed by a list of 8 (0-8) items.
Try the Tiny Menu extension. I am using an older version of Tiny Menu on Lucid with Firefox 3.6.x and it works fine.

Can I have RAC 1st node in RHEL 5 and 2nd node in RHEL 4?
Can I have my RAC 1st node in RHEL5 and 2nd node in RHEL 4?
I am just checking if there is any possibility like that.
Thanks,
MahiEven if it works by accident, it wouldn't be supported.
