Failed semiopaque panel with text

Question

Hello forum members.
I'm creating a semi transparent panel with text. Semi transparency works well but the text becomes 'dimmed' instead of clear black. What can I do to make the text become 'undimmed'?

The same Graphics object is used to paint the children, so you shouldn't change the Graphics object directly:
public void paintComponent(Graphics g)
    Graphics2D g2d = (Graphics2D)g.create();
    g2d.setComposite(AlphaComposite.getInstance(AlphaComposite.SRC_OVER, 0.5f));
    g2d.setColor(Color.WHITE);
    g2d.fillRect(0, 0, getWidth(), getHeight());
}
