Failed to configure IPv6 interface(s): eri1 - how to debug?

I have a problem configuring the second network interface for IPv6 under Solaris 10. The first interface, eri0, is configured and works fine. The second one, eri1, has a link-local address but no global address. Both links are up and working, I can ping eri1 via IPv4 (10.0.1.9) from an external host.

Thank you for the answer! I've found an option 'local-mac-address?' (the question mark is a part of the parameter name) in the 'ok' prompt.
More info for next generations:
1. Get to the 'ok prompt' (OpenBoot prom)
2. Type 'printenv' to see the current settings, look for 'local-mac-address?'
3. Set the parameter to 'true': 'setenv local-mac-address? true'
4. Type printenv again to see if the option was actually changed
This option is also described in Gentoo OBP reference:
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-sparc-obpreference.xml
Thanks!

  • Problem in configuring IPv6 interface with default  Router lifetime.

    I'm facing Problem in configuring IPv6 interface with default
    Router lifetime through a router advertisement.
    I'm also see an unusual behavior that even after configuring accept_rtadv=0,
    the ipv6 address is configured.
    Please help in out .

    Mac OS 9 does not support IPv6. While you can have IPv6 on your network, a Macintosh running Mac OS 9.2.2 or earlier cannot make connections to services using this network protocol.
    To use IPv6 on a Macintosh, you need Mac OS X 10.1 or later (as far as I know).

  • Windows 8 - fails to find wifi interface, anyone know how to add it?

    windows network driver wifi

    Ooops, sorry, I hit return at the wrong time and this got posted accidentally.
    I have a MacBookPro 13" Late 2011 2.4 Ghz. Intel Core i5 with 4GB RAM and a 1TB disk drive divided into two partions about 2/3 Mac and 1/3 Windows.
    Windows 8 was installed, and when it boots I have no network connectivity.
    The wifi interface is not detected.
    The wifi interface is listed as en1, an airport extreme
    When I go to what used to be the "device manager", detect new hardware finds nothing, and there is no way as their used to be to add in a device that you already know is there - like select device from a list?
    I got rid of my Windows stuff years ago to avoid this, but now for an Oracle database class I must have access to a PC.
    Does anyone know how this kind of problem gets support ... from MicroSoft/Windows or Mac/Apple?
    I have no experience with Windows 8, but confident that most of it is intuitive and easier than it used to be ... I just cannot find a way to add in  the Mac Wifi adapter.

    The installation process is probably being interrupted by your antivirus file scanner. Most security apps incorporate such utilities which spring into action as soon as you attempt to install, or uninstall a program. That has the effect of causing the installation to halt at a certain point and you're left somewhere in limbo.
    What I suggest you do here is to find your AV app on this site and then use the instructions to disable it: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html
    After doing that, download the Flash uninstaller from here: 32-bit Flash Uninstaller When you see the prompt, choose "Save" and save it somewhere you can find it easily afterwards. Do not choose "Run". Close IE8 before you run the uninstaller.
    After the uninstaller terminates, reboot to clear the old Registry entries.
    When the system reboots to the desktop, disable your AV app again, then go here to download the latest version: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
    This time, when you see the prompt, choose "Run" to install it immediately.
    Finally, re-enable your antivirus again.

  • Failed to initialize Network interface

    Hi,
    I recently bought the Linksys AV Ethernet Adapter PLE200/PLK200 to use in my home, and today I decided to install it, according to the manual, together with software that followed in the package.
    Everything went rather smoothly until the installation of the software was complete and I was going to start the program and configure my connection for the first time, when a ”Fatal Error”-box opened in front of me on my screen and said ”Failed to initalize Network interface – Exiting”. I hoped that it was a one time-error, but no matter how many times I tried, the same ”Fatal Error” came everytime i tried to run the program.
    I’ve searched most of the net for a solution of this problem, but quite honestly I haven’t found anything that could help me, so now I’m turning to you, guys. Any idea how I can fix this error from making me unable the run the program?
    I use Windows Vista Home Premium OEM 64-bit as my OS if it’s of any help.

    I do not have the CD so I could not follow those steps exactly.  I downloaded the setup file, but everytime i try and get it to run, i receive the same error as the OP.  I only have two computers and both are running windows 7-64 home premium.  on both PCs, i've tried installing and running the PLE200 appliaction as an administrator and in windows xp sp2 and sp3 compatibility modes.  what else can i try to get the utility to work in windows 7?  thanks!

  • ASA 5505 initial build - Failed to locate egress interface (Please help :-) )

    Hi, I have just purchased a ASA 5505 and have completed the initial setup via the wizard.  I am currently unable to access services on the outside of the ASA.
    The error: 'Failed to locate egress interface for UDP from inside'....  appears when ever my DNS server attempts a lookup.
    I have configured this several times from scratch using the wizard and I am unable to figure out the issue with the NAT / Routing config.
    If I run the packet tracer I get the error: "(no-route) no route to host", however I do have a default route configured so I suspect it maybe my NAT configuration.
    Overview, 192.168.10.0/24 inside the ASA, 192.168.1.0/24 outside the ASA, 192.168.1.1 is the gateway to the internet.  I ideally want the ASA to use PAT to mask the 192.168.10.0/24 network behind the ASAs 192.168.1.0/24 network address but still allow clients to gain internet access.
    Full config follows, screen shots attached, any help would be very gratefully received.
    Result of the command: "sh run"

    Just to want to be sure, can you post output from show int ip brie and show route? And try to remove your ACL for testing purpose or at least don't applied it anywhere yet.
    Once done, try do another packet-tracer to 8.8.8.8 using icmp packet instead of UDP paste the whole the output here. Before doing this, add icmp any any outside command on the ASA.
    I know this should have anything to do with your issue, because if ACL is the issue then you will see output being denied by ACL on the packet tracer output. Let us know the results.

  • Shared services registration failing during configuration of EPMA 11.1.1.3

    Hi All, I am currently woking on essbase and no knowledge of planning so trying to upgrade my knowledge. I installed epma 11.1.1.3 on windows 2003 VMware work station as I have windows 7 laptop. installed oracle 10g created a database (epma) created user/schemas (sm,ms) trying to configure foundation services, essbase, planning and reporting and analysis. the configure database and register with shared services failed. Am I doing anything wrong. I followed some documents for configuration which are well documented with screen shots still do not know what wrong I am doing. Please advice on how to avoid these failures.
    Below is the validation results of the configuration.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Create a configurable Web Interfaces

    Good Afternoon,
    I would like to build a Web application using JSP, Servlets and Struts. However I want that the users could configure their interfaces once they are logged. By configuring interface, I mean that a user could choose to hide/show an input of a form and chose if this input is read-only or not.
    I've though it would be a good idea of using a simple XML configuration file for each user to do that like this one :
    <config>
    <ITEM ID="name_input">
    <DISPLAY>1</DISPLAY>
    <CHANGE>1</CHANGE>
    </ITEM>
    <config>
    By the way, I must use the i18n tag to manage the translation of my application in different language.
    I'm a beginner in using these technologies and I'd like to have some advises from someone who did a configurable Web application.
    I hope Someone will help me.
    Thank you very much
    Xavier

    hello, ive also started to build a web site that will allow some configuration.
    But im using a bd to store all info for the web site.
    I dont know how good it is to use xml file or struct to configure dynamicaly since i dont use/know how to use this technologie.
    As for the bd case, you need at least 1 table per web page and some info to identifie eatch user parameters, also, you could need to keep a table with user login/info as to identifie them.
    To keep the language for every user, you may need to put extra field in eatch web page table.
    Hope this can help you :)

  • JET install: ERROR: Unable to configure network interface Exiting to shell

    Using SUNWjet v4.4.4 I'm trying to build a server using update 5 x86 which seems
    to work with one notable exception. The JET server and the build server do not
    reside on the same subnet. In order to get around not being able use PXE boot
    to boot the build server I'm booting from DVD after making the following modifications
    to the grub menu entry:
    kernel /I86PC.Solaris_10-1/multiboot kernel/unix - install nowin -B
    install_config=x.x.x.x:/opt/SUNWjet,
    sysid_config=x.x.x.x:/opt/SUNWjet/Clients/testclient,
    install_media=x.x.x.x:/export/install/media/s10u5-x86,
    install_boot=x.x.x.x:/export/install/media/s10u5-x86/boot
    This seems to kick off the installer however it fails to bring up the network interface:
    SunOS release
    Configuring devices
    Solaris Interactive Text ( Console Session )
    ERROR: Unable to configure network interface Exiting to shell
    # ifconfig bge0 x.x.x.x up netmask 255.255.255.0
    # route add default x.x.x.1
    # exit
    Using RPC
    Installation continues without any errors
    It seems that I'm forced to bring up the interface manually each time.
    This is what the template looks like:
    base_config_ClientArch=i86pc
    base_config_ClientEther=XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX
    base_config_ClientOS=s10u5-x86
    base_config_client_allocation="grub"
    base_config_products="custom eiscd sds"
    base_config_sysidcfg_nameservice=NONE
    base_config_sysidcfg_network_interface=PRIMARY
    base_config_sysidcfg_ip_address=x.x.x.x
    base_config_sysidcfg_netmask=255.255.255.0
    base_config_sysidcfg_root_password="XXXXXXXXXXXX"
    base_config_sysidcfg_system_locale="en_CA.UTF-8"
    base_config_sysidcfg_timeserver=
    base_config_sysidcfg_timezone="Canada/Eastern"
    base_config_sysidcfg_terminal=vt100
    base_config_sysidcfg_security_policy=NONE
    base_config_sysidcfg_protocol_ipv6=no
    base_config_sysidcfg_default_route=x.x.x.1
    I've also tried setting the following:
    base_config_sysidcfg_network_interface=PRIMARY
    vs
    base_config_sysidcfg_network_interface=bge0
    I don't mind doing this manually but of course I would much rather have it work automatically.

    Try giving more network interface settings in the sysidcfg settings:
    network_interface=value {primary hostname=host_name
                              default_route=ip_address or NONE
                              ip_address=ip_address
                              netmask=netmask
                              protocol_ipv6=yes_or_no}

  • AP is unable to associate. The Regulatory Domain '-E' configured on interface '802.11a' does not match the Controller Regulatory Domain '-C'

    Hi,
    There are three different types of APs associated with controller and working fine.
    1.       AIR-LAP1252AG-E-K9
    2.       AIR-LAP1522AG-E-K9
    3.       AIR-CAP1552E-C-K9
    WLC is AIR-CT5508-K9. Software version is 7.4.100.0. Field Recovery Image is 7.0.112.21. Firmware version is FPGA 1.7, Env 1.8, USB console 2.2. WCS is 7.0.240.0 for Windows.
    WCS is sending alarms for AIR-LAP1522AG-E-K9:
    Message: AP is unable to associate. The Regulatory Domain '-E' configured on interface '802.11a' does not match the Controller Regulatory Domain '-C'.
    Before Controller was 7.2.4 (not sure).
    Country configured on WLC is AE and shows -CE regulatory domain. Mesh APs are also associated.
    I believe this Critical alarm should not come.
    how much is this alarm important? What should be done to resolve this?

    Typically you still need to make sure that the country codes are indeed configured on the WLC. Thing can change when you upgrade code as standards might of changed and regulations also. If your AP's are functional, then you should be okay and I wouldn't worry too much about it, but if after the upgrade, the WLC complains about country code stuff, then you just need to verify that the AP's country code is defined on the WLC. May times the AP will not join and if it does join, the radios might be disabled or in a down status.

    Sep 23 10:06:12.111 GMT: %DOT11-4-LOADING_RADIO: Interface Dot11Radio0, loading the radio firmware (flash:/c1200-k9w7-mx.123-7.JA3/5101.img)
    This is the reason why your 802.11b radio won't come up.  The radio-specific firmware is either missing or corrupted.
    Most effective way is to overwrite and unpack the entire TAR file.  So let the AP boot normally.  Don't worry about the radio for the time being.
    Make sure you have the TAR file located in the correct folder of your TFTP server.  Use the command "archive download-sw /over /force tftp://<TFTP IP address>/filename.tar".
    Once the process is complete the AP will reboot.

  • Set configure IPv6 to automatically as default.

    I am using an iMac running Yosemite 10.10.1. Whenever I startup, get mail, or try to print a file, I have to go to system preferences > network > advanced, and set the Configure IPv6 to automatically from its default setting of off. For some reason it always goes back to the default “off” setting. Is there a way to make “automatically” the default setting? Thank you.

    Automatic is the default. I think you need to reinstall Yosemite:
    Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
    When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
    Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
    Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

    Check the configuration on the EMC side. This error message is the heart of the problem:
    "Unsupported LUN Addressing method 40 in response to REPORT_LUN"
    A quick Googling leads me to believe this means you're trying to assign a LUN ID higher than 255 to the host.
    Best of luck!

  • Error message when opening Outlook: The operation failed. The messaging interfaces have returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook.

    In an Exchange 2010 server/Outlook 2013 environment, one of our users is getting an error message every time they start Outlook. The error message says: "The operation failed. The messaging interfaces have returned an unknown error. If the problem

    The system is as follows:

    OS: Windows 7 (64-Bit)
    Application: Outlook 2013 (32-Bit)
    The user upgraded from Outlook 2010 a few months ago and the error message has only recently started appearing on startup. I thought it was a corrupt mail profile, so I have already tried creating a new mail profile, as well as the repairing tool in Outlook.
    I even tested another email account and that worked just fine. So apparently it is something wrong with the specific user's account/profile and not something wrong with the computer - since my email account worked fine on his computer.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I had the same error message, only in my situation Outlook would only open successfully every 4 or 5 attempts. When Outlook would open (versus just hanging at the splash screen), I would get two dialog boxes with the warning/error message.
    After I clicked okay I could get into Outlook.
    Previously I experienced this problem running my Office 2010 client with my Exchange 2007 mailbox on my old laptop.  The problem followed my mailbox through an Exchange 2010 migration (so new Exchange org), client upgrade to Outlook 2013, and a new
    laptop (so I knew it wasn't a corrupt profile).  This led me to the conclusion that it was a corrupt item(s) in my mailbox.
    To resolve the issue, I archived *everything* in my mailbox to a PST file, ran SCANPST to fix the corruption, and then uploaded everything back into my Exchange mailbox one folder at a time, stopping after each folder to close and restart Outlook so I could
    narrow down which folder had the corrupt item if the problem recurred.  I'm happy to say my issue is now resolved.
