Problem in configuring IPv6 interface with default  Router lifetime.

I'm facing Problem in configuring IPv6 interface with default
Router lifetime through a router advertisement.
I'm also see an unusual behavior that even after configuring accept_rtadv=0,
the ipv6 address is configured.
Please help in out .

Mac OS 9 does not support IPv6. While you can have IPv6 on your network, a Macintosh running Mac OS 9.2.2 or earlier cannot make connections to services using this network protocol.
To use IPv6 on a Macintosh, you need Mac OS X 10.1 or later (as far as I know).

I have a problem configuring the second network interface for IPv6 under Solaris 10. The first interface, eri0, is configured and works fine. The second one, eri1, has a link-local address but no global address. Both links are up and working, I can ping eri1 via IPv4 (10.0.1.9) from an external host.

Thank you for the answer! I've found an option 'local-mac-address?' (the question mark is a part of the parameter name) in the 'ok' prompt.
    More info for next generations:
    1. Get to the 'ok prompt' (OpenBoot prom)
    2. Type 'printenv' to see the current settings, look for 'local-mac-address?'
    3. Set the parameter to 'true': 'setenv local-mac-address? true'
    4. Type printenv again to see if the option was actually changed
This option is also described in Gentoo OBP reference:

  • Stopping ISIS ipv6 (Multi Topology) Default Route

    Dear Team
I am facing the following issue, not sure has it been worked out before.
We can stop Default Route on ISIS IPv6 Level-1 routers from nearest L1/L2 Routers, through set-attached-bit , when ISIS Ipv6 is deployed in Single  Topology, with set attached bit default route is removed both ISIS Ipv4 & Ipv6 routing tables.
    however
it does not work when ISIS IPv6 is deployed in Multi-Topology. I Applied to control it through Ipv6 prefix-list, but is not beneficial, as level-1 routers are still receiving the default route.
    router isis
    address-family ipv6
    redistribute isis level-2 into level-1 distribute-list st
where distribute-list  "st " specifically denies the default route and allow others.
    ipv6 prefix-list st seq 1 deny ::/0   (Default Route)
    ipv6 prefix-list st seq 2 permit 2002:19:19::1/128
    ipv6 prefix-list st seq 3 permit 2002:19:19::2/128
How we can stop a default route on ISIS IPv6 Level-1 Routers injected from nearest L1/L2 Routers.
Any Help will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi ,
    What I found is "
If there are parallel adjacencies to the same neighbor (on different interfaces) normal
IS-IS behavior is to suppress the advertisement of the additional adjacencies unless TE is
enabled. This redundant information is not needed in order to correctly run SPF.
Indication that the adjacency has been suppressed.
This should not be a cause of concern as it has no operational impact.
there is an Internal BUG for the same :
IS-IS Advertises Parallel Adjacencies when TE is NOT enabled

  • Having issues configuring DHCP and with Redundant router

    Hello everyone
I am new to Cisco and I am having few problems in configuring my topology in Packet tracer.
I am having redundancy in router and swithes both,
I have assigned one layer2 2960 switch as a VTP server and asssigned VLANs from that switch then assigned ports to the hosts in access layer switches.
Problem 1:  If I take my Router1 off I am unable to ping so the pupose of having redundant router does not serve the pupose.
Problem 2 : I need to assign DHCP server for the users who will be connecting wirelessly with Access Points, so can I configure DHCP on Access Points which I am unable to do so in Packet tracer any idea how? / Or shall I configure the DHCP on Router1 and Router2 and exclude the addresses I have assigned to all the hosts connected using ethernet.
Also how can I configure Email server in this tolpolgy and where?
    Thank you
    A.K

    Hi Asif, Jeff is right.
    (1) You need to configure either HSRP (Hot standby routing protocol) or VRRP (Wirtual routing redundancy protocol), or GLBP (Gateway load balancing protocol).
With either of this config, you will be able to configure 1 logical IP address, which will act as a gateway on your computers. However, both routers will need different IP's (all within the same subnet). You will also need to create multiple HSRP groups to support all your VLAN's. So one HSRP group per VLAN. The logical IP in the HSRP group will act as the default gateway on computers within the VLAN.
Though I don't think packet tracer supports any of the above configs - FYI it's part of the CCNP Switch sylabus. So the above explaination will make sense after you've got a good understanding of HSRP, VRRP and/or GLBP.
    (2) I would recommend setting both the Router as a DHCP server, and configure the Access Point (AP) with a static IP (disable NAT and DHCP on the AP)
    (3) In packet tracer, choose the Server icon and check it's properties. You should find an option to enable EMAIL server. Connect it to any of the Distribution layer switches.
Hope this helps get you started on the learning curve :-)

  • SLD configuration - JCO connection with SAP Router

    Hi,
I installed the new Sneak Preview SP11 Java Edition including SAP Portal. I tried to run an own Web Dynpro Application with RFC-Access on a R/3 System.
Unfortunately I was not able to get the JCO Connection to run. The R/3 System is reached via SAP Router. I am a little bit confused, because with the last Sneak Preview (SP6 or SP7) this application was running without problems. Of course I thought that this can't be. So I uninstalled SP11 and installed the old version (SP7). I configured the JCO-connection, no problems.
Now I know that this is not my mistake (hopefully ).
If I configured a JCO-connection in SP11 and tried to PING, the first PING was ok. After testing the connection with user, the PING failed. The testing with user returns something like "user or password are not accepted".
    Any ideas?
    Best regards
    Renald

In your SLD configuration,  what do you have as your Logon Group under the message server config.  Is it "PUBLIC".  if so, then the user id needs to belong to that Logon Group in the system.

  • Help needed to configure WVC54GC cam with BEFW11S4 router:

OK...I have to admit that I'm finally having to ask for help!  I'm handy with most computer problems, but i.p. addresses, port forwarding and dns stuff is kinda over my head.  I need someone to walk me through the steps.  I've got the camera setup to the point that I can view the image in the Linksys setup, but I want to be able to share it on the net.  I'm stumped with how to do this.  I'm told I need to forward ports on my router etc.  I've been into the router settings and there is no "gaming tab" as is suggested, but I can find port settings under advanced, although they look different.
I've also setup an account with DynDNS updater,as I'm told I'll need this to maintain a connection.  The settings in there are equally as daunting, so any help here would also be beer worthy....LOL!
Any help would be MUCH appreciated!
    Cheers!

Once you login to your Router setup Page.... on the Very Right Side you need to click on the Advance Tab  and then you need to click on the Forwarding Tab and Below you can Open the Ports for your Camera.

    What is your internet connection??
If you have adsl or cable modem / router you need to work out if the modem can be bridged.. in some cases it can and some not.. without any info we don't know..
Lets say you have adsl with pppoe authentication .. then adsl modem can be bridged and the TC can take over pppoe duties.
Cable modem will usually be straight modem or can have NAT turned off. TC then is just set to do dhcp and share public ip address.
You need to then turn off everything and restart the modem.. wait 2min and then start the TC.. go to airport utility and make sure you have the public ip on the TC WAN port.. ie you must plug the modem in to wan only.
If you cannot bridge the modem then it is difficult to use the TC as the main router.. it is better to bridge it.

  • Can you help? Two dialer interfaces with IP SLA for default route failover - issues

I have an issue with a Cisco 2821, it has an ADSL2+ HWIC  whose ATM interfaces is linked to dialer 1 and a Gi0/1 interface with a pppoe client which is linked to dialer 2.  Both dialer interfaces are up with their respective IP addresses.  If the ADSL on dialer 1 fails i want the IP SLA to kick and and replace the default route for dialer 1 with one for dialer 2.
This config works if you manually shut down the dialer 1 interface, it injects the default route for dialer 2 and then when you unshut the interface, the default route for dialer 1 comes back.  The problem i have is if you take out the cable for the ATM interface and take it down, it does not take the route out the routing table and the default route for dialer2,  which works if you just shut down dialer 1 does not appear.
whats the difference between shutting down dialer1 and it fails over the default route and taking the cable out then it does not?
Here is my config, i'm sure its something simple i'm doing wrong, can anyone help???

Sure that EEM can shut/unshut interface...you have "event track" in EEM for monitoring track events...for example:
    event manager applet test
    event track 1 state down
    action 1.0 command "enable"
    action 1.1 command "conf t"
action 1.2 command "interfac dialer 1"
    action 1.3 command "shut"
action 1.4 syslog "Dialer 1 down!!!"
    action 1.5 end
This would be an example from head :)
You would need another EEM similar to this one for unshutting interface with "event track 1 state up" for bringing interface up again.
Again as I said you would need to test this before putting in production and you would maybe need to tweak this a little bit acording to your needs...

  • Losing IPv6 default route

    Hi,
I've started seeing a problem after upgrading to Yosemite that I lose the IPv6 default route after a while on my MacBook Air. I can restore it but running
    sudo ipconfig set en0 automatic-v6
in the terminal, but after a while it disappears again. I still have all the IPs and link level routes, just not the default one. Does anyone recognize this problem or know of a workaround? I suppose it could be something with my network setup, but I've never had problems with this before and haven't changed anything except OS version recently. My router is running OpenWRT (barrier breaker pre-release).
Nothing really relevant in syslog around that time:

This is very annoying since I rely on IPv6 for some of my work connections, so I really do need some kind of fix.

Try running 'nettop -m route' in a terminal window and look for the default IPv6 routes. These are mine for ethernet and wi-fi:
        default -> en0 -> fe80::200:ff:fe00:0%en0
        default -> en1 -> fe80::200:ff:fe00:0%en1
The problem I see is that the default route keeps disappearing for a short time. If you are also running a ping6 at the time you will see:
ping6: sendmsg: No route to host
I'm using a Cisco RV220W router. Each network interface default route drops for a short time and there is no particular timing or other indicator why. This is all happening while the IPv4 network is rock solid. I'm seeing this in Mac OS X 10.9.5.

  • ASA receiving two default routes to internet via OSPF

I am trying to test something for a client.  If I have an ASA that receives two default routes to the internet via OSPF, will it load balance those connections?  I have a feeling the answer is 'no.'  If that is the case, would the ASA would be at least able use the second internet connection if the primary one becomes saturated?
    TIA,
    Dan

Yes, I know that the ASA cannot have default routes on multiple interfaces.  Both of the default routes are coming into the ASA's outside interface.  There would be two routers and the ASA in area 0 for OSPF.  The routers would have the default-information originate command in their OSPF configuration to push the default route out to the ASA.

  • ASA 5505 - 2 Internet Connections, Problems with the Default Route

    Hey there,
i have a Problem at a Customer Site at the moment. The customer uses an ASA 5505 with two internet connections attached to it. On the first connection (which is the only one in use at the moment) he has some Static-PAT's from Outside to Inside where he translates different services to the internal servers. He also has a site-2-site VPN terminating there and AnyConnect.
He now wants to switch the Internet Traffic from Inside to the new Internet Connection. Therefore changing the default route to that new ISPs Gateway. The problem now is, that no traffic recieved on the old "outside" Interface is transmitted back out of that old "outside" Interface. And this happens although the "same-security permit intra-interface" command is set.
Can you tell me what's wrong here? For every Static-PAT from outside to inside there is also a dynamic PAT from inside to outside. But the ASA seems to ignore this. I have not looked into the Logs yet, was too busy finding the problem because i had no real time window to test on the productive ASA.
Can it be achieved in any way? Having a default route on the ASA which leads any traffic to the second internet connection while still having connections on the first internet connection where no explicit route can be set? Because connections arrive from random IPs?
Many thanks for your help in advance!

Phillip, indeed , I have as well read may comments,it all depends on your environment as they all differ from one another, you best bet is to have a good solid plan for upgrade and fall back. You do have a justification to upgrade for features needed, so I would suggest the following:
1- Do a search again in forum for ASA code upgrades and look at comments from users that have gone through this process and note their impact in fuctionality if any. I believe this is good resource to collect information .
2- Very important , look into release notes for a particular version. For example version 8.0, look into open CAVEATS usually at the end of the link page, reading the open bugs gives you clues what has not yet been resolved for that particular code and if in fact could impact you in your environment, it is possible that a particular bug does not realy apply to your environment becuase you have yet not implemented that particualr configuration. Usually we all try to aim towards a GD (General Deployment) code which is what we all understand is most stable but not necesarily means you have to be stack in that code waiting for another GD release, in my personal experience I have upgraded our firewall from 7.2 to 8.0(3) long ago and had no issues, and recently upgraded to 8.0(4)when it was first release in August this year.
    Release notes

    3- AS a good practice precaution -
a-Backup firewall configs in clear text as well as via tftp code.
b-Backup running code and ASDM version code currently running in firewall.
c- Save the output of " show version " to have as reference for all the feature licenses you currently have running as asll as activation keys - good info to have to compare with after upgrade.
d- Ensure that the code you will be using to upgrade also uses correct ASDM version code.
I think with thorough assesment and preparation you can indeed minimize impact.

  • Setting The Default Route in a Jumpstart Install with Multiple Interfaces

    Greetings,
I'm performing a Jumpstart install on a SPARC v240 server, which has multiple network interfaces. I'm trying to configure all of the interfaces as part of the Jumpstart setup. However, Jumpstart doesn't like the default route that I'm supplying. If I add the default_route parameter anywhere but under the first interface, Jumpstart complains that the default route is missing (by making me add it after it dumps out to the suninstall screens. If I add the default route under the first interface, Jumpstart dumps me to the suninstall screen which says that the route could not be added.
What am I doing wrong ? Am I trying to get Jumpstart to do something that it won't do ?
Here is my sysidcfg file. The file shown below will cause Jumpstart to dump to the suninstall screen, which will indicate that the route cannot be added:
Please wait while the system information is loaded... /

The route provided could not be added at this time. If you wish to accept the
route provided, press 'Accept' and the address will be added for reboot,
otherwise press 'Cancel' and provide another address.

That sysidcfg seems a bit odd anyway, have you by any chance put the different interfaces of your jumpstart server into it? Normally you won't need to specify a default router since the jumpstart will figure it out anyway.. Does your jumpstart server have an interface on each network you want to jumpstart?
