FAQ's about JDI

Hi All,
Share you views on these FAQ's with link to doc which you reffered preferably.
1) What are Mount points and there significance?
2) Why i am unable to login to DTR at other Workstations apart from the one which i am using, even after setting window preference dtr server, creating client? do we need to do some settings?
3)Your corporate developing a Product, it follows the following structure.
Product
Software component, 2 , 3 , 4 , .....
Development Component, 2, ....
Software Component is allocated to team 1, SC to Team 2 etc.
which Scenario best suits this, how do you provide ACL's for each team?
4) In a team there are n number of developers and they checks in checks out certain files, how do system admin knows to activate certain activities only from a heap of closed activities?
5) What's an ISN what is its significance in version?
Thanks in Advance
RK

HI RK,
I'll try to answer the questions I understood.
1) A mount point is a mapping between a folder on the repository (DTR) and a folder on your file system. A mountpoint tells DTR client where to sync (on your local file system) which parts of the repository (DTR).
4)Typically, each developer should activate his/her own activities. The "activation" step basically means that you are ready to make the changes in this activity "public" to all. Yes, even "checkin" makes the changes public, but only to those working with the "inactive" workspace (So people in a small group working together can checkin their individual activities, and after making sure that all their changes work together, they can activiate them so that others outside the group can also make use of these changes).
If the System Admin wants to activate some activities, he can do that by using the user filter in the Activation View - you can set it to see pending activities of all users.
5) ISN represents "Integration Sequence Number", which is a number assigned to an activity when it is integrated (checked-in) into a workspace. It a monotonically increasing sequence of integers, so each activity that is integrated into a workspace gets a number higher than the previous one. (Since it tracks changes at the Workspace level, it is also a representation of a state - or version - of a workspace).

Manohar

• FAQ's about Photoshop Express 3.0.1

Photoshop Express 3.0.1 FAQ's:
FAQ: Is the sharpen tool in Photoshop Express 3.0.1 the same as in the previous version ?
No, the new sharpen tool incorporates the latest version of sharpening from our imaging teams at Adobe. It is different from the previous version in that the scope has been constrained to a range where we can preserve image quality while achieving the best possible sharpness.
FAQ: Why does the noise reduction tool work differently in Photoshop Express 3.0.1 than in the previous version?
The range of the noise reduction tool in the previous version was wider than the the range of the tool in version 3.0.1 When it was used at the outer limits, it would cause images to lose detail and would degrade their quality. The new version balances the amount of noise reduced while still preserving image quality.
FAQ: Why does my image automatically zoom in when I use the sharpen and noise reduction tools in Photoshop Express 3.0.1?
Both the sharpen tool and the noise reduction tool can best be adjusted while viewing the details of the image close up. It allows you to see the changes being made by the tool more clearly and allows for a much more precise adjustment. If you prefer not to use this feature, the zoom can be turned off in the settings panel.
FAQ: How can I achieve a larger range of sharpen or noise reduction as in the previous version of Photoshop Express?
While the features are not designed for uses outside of the ranges provided, you can achieve similar results by applying the maximum value for the tool, saving the image to your camera roll, and repeating the process.

I don't think there was ever anything wrong with your iMac. It should have more than enough power even in its basic configuration. (I am assuming that the Hard Drive is not more than 75% full or fragmented. Either of those situations could cause dropped frames).
There could be a fault with FCE and the first thing to try is to trash the preferences properly like this:-
http://www.fcpbook.com/Misc1.html
One thing is certain - throwing money at it will not effect a cure. You do not need a more powerful computer or another FCE. If it is not working OK it is because there is something in either your Mac or FCE that needs "adjusting".
You could also go to FCE HD>System Settings>Memory & Cache and ensure the Application setting is at 100%.

I feel that some like to see complexity when there is none.
Are users able to enter the mac App Store from an idevice ?
As far as I know, the answer is : NO.
If I am right, there is only one *_app store_* app available on advices.
On the mac, we have two different tools: *_App Store_* dedicated to applications for mac and iTunes with a thumbnail entering *_itunes App Store_*
Back to the forum, when we are searching about iWork for mac, we are supposed to search in the forum dedicated to this product.
In the four ones, I assume that most (if not all) entries for *_app store_* will be related to the apps for mac.

• Checked FAQ: Question about importing into library, need some assistance.

Hi,
I've done some searching and have yet find my answer. I hope that some of the sharpshooters here can help out.
I keep all of my music on a network drive to avoid "bloating" my Mac with music. So the other day, I wanted to use iTunes to catalog what was on there and to load some more music onto my 'Pod. So, I performed an import of the library. Here's my dopey question: When one imports into a library, does all of the music come over with it, or, does just the songs' data get imported and then point to the source drive? Does this make sense?
TIA,
Chris

I also keep my music and all on an external drive. Before you catalog it you need to do one important thing or it will copy everything to your computer. Go into the Advanced setting under Preferences and uncheck *Copy music to your iTunes Music folder when adding to library*. If you don't do this you will end up with your music trying to be put on your computers drive. You can then use this to update your iPod as it points to the original file and will bring anything needed to load on your iPod.

pls let me know i have go through some documents but i cant understand fully that docs are which i have gone is not well enough..thanks in advance
Regards & Thanks
M.Murali...

All ofthis information is in the TimesTen documentation and also there are several tutorials on OTN. However, just to help get you started...
The firsth thing to understand is that TimesTen isa complete database in its own right. It is persistent, transactional and highly available and delivers very high performance. it can be used as 'the database' without any Oracle DB. When used as a cache for Oracle, you are effectively creating a Timesten database (we call it a datastore) and using it to cache some subset of the Oracle database. The TimesTen caching features can be (very loosely) thought of as a form of 'replication' between a TimesTen datastore and an Oracle database.
To briefly answer your specific questions:
1.) What is timesten password?
CJ>> TimesTen supports internal users 9which have passwords) just as Oracle DB does. The 'timesten password' is the password for a specific user that you have created in TimesTen.
2.) Is it neccessary that oracle username and timesten account id both are same?
CJ>> When using TimesTen cacheing then there needs to be at least 2 users (the cache admin user and the application user) who have the same userid in both TimesTen and oracle. Howeverm their passwords can differ between TimesTen and Oracle.
3.)what is the timesten default port for make entry in tnsnames.ora?
CJ>> As I explained in my reply to your other question, you do not use tnsnames.ora to connect to TimesTen (in this release). Connection informati9on for TimesTen datastroes is defined in the various .INI files (see later). TNSNAMES.ORA is needed to enable Timesten to connect to the Oracle DB for cache operations. In this case yiou are configuring it to allow a connection through to your backend Oracle DB.
4.)where will be the user creates if we give
command>create user <username> identified by <pwd> (in oracle or timesten cache)
CJ>> As you might expect, if you run this command in Oracle (e.g. via SQL*Plus) then the user is created in oracle. If you run it in TimesTen (e.g. via ttIsql) then the user is created in TimesTen. In general you need to create appropriate users in both places so you will need to run the command in both places.
5.) how is timesten works?
suppose my environment is webcache-->app.server-->database
in this architecture where i have to install timesten and how to i configure it?
CJ>> This is a very simple question with many, potentially complex, answers. For this specific architecture, TimesTen would typically sit between the app. server and the 'database' (by which we mean Oracle DB). Furthermore, for best performance TimesTen would normally be installed on the actual app. server machine so that the app.server can use direct local connectivity to TimesTen. So, the diagram might typically look like this:
webcache -> app.server | TimesTen -> Oracle DB
6.) is it comes after app.server before oracle or where?
7.)what is system.odbc.ini file do and where it is?
CJ>> The sys.odbc.ini file is located in the directory <TimesTen_instance_installation_dir>/info. This file configures the parameters and connectivity information for all the TimesTen datastores (cache and non-cache) managed by this TimesTen instance. In order to create/use a TimesTen datastore you must configure the appropriate entries/values in this file.
8.)what we have to check in odbc.ini file?
CJ>> See above.

How do I get Video and Audio Chats with PCs ? iChat FAQ 3 (Updated 3/4/2009)
Applies to iChat 2.x, iChat 3.x and iChat 4.x to any version of AIM on a PC before AIM 6.1
See bottom section on AIM 6.5 and 6.8 on XP and Vista.
This piece is designed for those trying to connect Mac to PC for Video and Audio chats. Any iChat version Panther and up.
Glossary For This FAQ
This bit is designed for clarity.
Video is the sending and /or receiving of pictures and sound.
Audio is the sending and or receiving of sound only.
One-Way is the ability to start either an Audio or Video chat from one end to a recipient who can not match your capabilities (or Vice Versa)
What is needed
At the Mac end
A Mac running OS 10.3.x and iChat AV ver 2.1 or 10.4 plus iChat 3 or Leopard and iChat 4
A DSL/Cable/Fibre (Broadband) connection of at least an up link speed of 256kbs.
An AIM , @mac.com or MobileMe (@me.com) account name.
(hosting Multiple person Mac to Mac AV chats requires higher specs and broadband uplink speed).
At the PC end
1 PC running windows XP (home or Pro). THIS A MUST
The AIM Standalone Application, currently at ver. 5.9 at this link. AIM (the Site) now call this version Classic and it cannot be Installed On Vista
Note: there is also Trillian which has a Pro version for $25 that can also Video and Audio chat. The Basic version just Texts and Audio Chats (AIM does not Audio chat)
Some need the aimrtc12.exe file from Here Mostly Earlier than XP or Pre Service Pack 2 XP versions of Windows
An AIM account/screen name (AOL or Netscape count as well)
Service Pack 2 info. This info will allow the PC user to enable AIM thorough the XP Firewall. The Windows Firewall did not exist as such before this.
Between both of you.
At least one camera (Mac end works better)
A sound input device (the camera, if it has one is ok)
Your Buddies screen/account name in each others Buddy Lists
Other tweaks
For some people, using AIM on a PC, may also have to make sure their preferences (properties) are set in the AIM Buddy list, for their camera and /or Mic. (Tuning at Message 570)
This is an icon button lower right on the Buddy List marked "Prefs" (AIM 5.5). This leads to the Preferences. Drop down the list until you read Live Video. Click on this. In the new window that opens click the button that says Tuning Video and Audio. Follow the instructions in the wizard that opens up. Access in AIM 5.9 for this is in the My AIM menu at the top of the Buddy list and then Options
To Start
You should now be able to chat to each other.
If each of you has a camera it can be full Video , as described in the Glossary at the top.
To start from the Mac end, select (highlight) your Buddy with one click. His camera icon should be dark. Click on the icon near his name or the one at the bottom of the Buddy List. (You do not have to start a text chat).
To start from the PC end you need to start a text chat, then select the Video icon at the bottom of the chat window.
If one of you has a camera and the other has a Mic then you will be able to video chat One Way but sound will be both ways.
To start this type of chat from the Mac end you will have to go to the menu item "Buddies" and drop down to the item "Invite to One Way Video Chat"
To start this from a PC follow the directions in the paragraph above. You may need to change the tab to the incoming Video at the back of the two to see the Video. These tabs are added when the Video chat starts and the front one normally states you do not have a camera and shows a connection to buy one.
It is also possible to chat One Way if the other person does not have a Mic: replies will have to be typed in a Text chat.
No Camera and No Mic will cause iChat to End the chat with "No Data Received for 10 Secs"
Summary
PC end gets AIM 5.9 or Trillian Pro.
The PC end allows the app through the XP Firewall.
AIM 5.9 needs "Tuning" to Camera and Mic.
For any sort of sound to a PC using AIM, (Talk in PC or Audio in iChat) the Mac will need a camera. The other person can have a Mic and then live chats with sound both ways and Pictures (Video) One-Way.
NOTE: At This Time It Is NOT Possible to Audio (sound only) between Mac & PC with AIM & iChat
Trillian Basic can Audio. Trillian Pro can Video and has a bigger picture and can do Full Screen.
Another explanation of the set up can be found Here about AIM 5.5 but is transferable to AIM 5.9.

AIM 6.5 and 6.8 On Vista and XP
AIM 5.9 or earlier can not be installed on Vista.
AIM 6.5 and 6.8 use a new video codec with a description of "Real Time IM"
AIM have an FAQ page about this
Below the pics is this quote
What do I need to use Real-Time IM?
You and your buddy need to be using AIM® 6.8 or higher to use Real-Time IM. Unfortunately, Real-Time IM does not yet work with older AIM clients, iChat®, or AIM® for Mac®.

• I just found out about the switch from Elements to Adobe Revel. HELP

I do not want to spend any money on something I rarely use. I also do not want to grant "rights" to any person or corporation for my family pictures.
Will I need to delete my account?.

Hi. There is not a switch from Elements. The switch is from Photoshop.com to Revel. Elements will work as it always did with the exception of communicating with Photoshop.com sharing and storage since that service is being discontinued.
In additon, Revel is free as long as you don't want to upload more than 50 files a month.
Check out these FAQ's and try Revel. After that, if you do not want your account, we can delete it.

• Question for Ali Brown about split partition

Ali:
I thought that I was posting a new topic by changing the subject line but I saw that it didn't work--but it was already up in lights . . . . It's an amazing race, eh? Thanks for your previous reply, glad it's easy to do--please, informa me . . . . While replying to Warren P about his printer issues I saw that you are running a split partition in one of your computers. I have an Imac G4 with 10.1.5/9.22 that perhaps one day I'd like to bring up to 10.3.9, but keeping the OS 9 side intact. Is that a GUI type exercise or did it take a special program? I haven't look at Disc Util in my iMac to see how that might be done, nor have I searched Apple Database . . .. Seeing your hardware info just piqued my curiosity. Any links to info about how to do what you did?? Thanks.
eep

Hi Again eep!
As I posted in the previous topic, my HD is not partitioned.
OS 9 & OS X exist together, and my iMac is Dual-Boot.
When I upgraded from 10.1.5, I did a Simple Update to Panther 10.3.x, and eventually updated to 10.3.9.
Some info in these links:
Mac OS X 10.3 installation (FAQ).
About installation options. Basically the same for Panther 10.3.x.
Tiger is available for purchase at The Apple Store (U.S.).
Panther, is no longer available directly from the Apple Online Store, as Tiger 10.4.x is the most up to date OS.
If you know what to look for, a Full Retail Version, of the Panther Install CDs, or a Full Retail Version, of the Tiger Install DVD, can also be purchased rather inexpensively, at some online Apple retailers, Amazon, eBay, AppleRescue, FastMac, etc.
Be sure not to purchase grey, upgrade or machine specific CDs or DVDs.
Panther is only on CDs, not DVDs.
Unless purchased from AppleRescue, the discs should look exactly like the images in the above links, and not say Upgrade on them.
Additional info in these links.
Using OS X Install CDs/DVDs On Multiple Macs
What's A Computer Specific Mac OS X Release
Software Update, Upgrade: What's The Difference?
Before upgrading to any OS X version, check to see if your Mac needs a Firmware Update.
If one is required, you must start the computer from a Mac OS 8 or Mac OS 9 System Folder on the computer's hard disk, not from a CD, in order to install it.
Once Panther 10.3.x is installed, you can use the 10.3.9 Combo Update, to upgrade to the final version.
If your Mac meets the System Requirements for Tiger, you could also consider installing that.
And then use the PPC 10.4.8 Combo Update, to upgrade to the current version.

• Questions on JDI

Hi All,
I have some questions about JDI. Could anybody help to answer them?
1. Some components need to use API provided by some jar files. These JAR files are provided by third party. How could we check in those jar files to DTR?
2. There're some EJB projects (not JDI) in my local computer. How could we put the contents of those projects into a development components in a easy way? To create new classes in DC and copy codes to them is too troublesome.
3. Similar to the previous question. How could we move classes, EJBs, Web Service configurations from one devleopment component to another?
Thanks
Jerome

1. Use External Library DC(s). There are multiple topics in these forums about this process.
2. Create a new DC with the correct Component Type and then import your existing classes. (rightclick the project and select "Import...").
3. See 2.

• JDI - Getting Started

Points Guaranteed

Hi,
as I suggested, even Sidhart mentioned to go through the Installation guide
Installing JDI with the Software Deployment Manager (SDM)
Download the support packages from SAP Service Marketplace. You find them under SAP
Service Marketplace alias “sp-stacks” → SP Stack / SAP NetWeaver ‘04
The page SAP NetWeaver ’04 - SP Stack <number> appears.
Under NWDI, select the following objects:
• JDI BUILD TOOL <Release> SP<Number> (SAPBUILDT<SP
number>.SCA)<patch number>
• JDI <Release> SP<Number> (SAPDEVINF<SP number>.SCA)<patch
number>
• JDI OFFLINE <Release> SP<Number> (SAPDEVINFF<SP
number>.SCA)<patch number>
Deployment
After you have downloaded the Support Packages above, perform the following steps:
1. Start the graphical user interface (GUI) of the Software Deployment Manager (SDM) on
the server where your J2EE Engine is running. You can connect to the SDM server
through the remote GUI by running the following command:
RemoteGui.bat from \usr\sap\<SAPSID>\JC<J2EEinstance_number>\SDM\program\
The login data is:
 <SDM password> chosen during installation.
 Port: 5< J2EEinstance_number>18.
2. Deploy:
a. On the Deployment tab, add the following software component archives (SCA)
to the deployment list.
b. SAPDEVINFF<SP number>.SCA
1 Preparation
April 2005 7
c. SAPDEVINF<SP-Number>.SCA
d. SAPBUILDT<SP number>.SCA
e. Select the SCAs and confirm the deployment.
The SDM stops the J2EE engine and restarts it.
f. Stop the SDM-GUI.
Result
You have installed the SAP NetWeaver Java Development Infrastructure.

This Frequently answered question (FAQ) comes about:
Can an iMac/iBook/Powerbook/MacBook act as a display for another Mac since they all have a built-in display?
The truth is complicated because you have to consider who is doing the processing, and who has the drivers for the work being done.
1. For people who want the processing power of multiple Macs together, there is
Daugerresearch.com's Pooch.
2. Apple's Target Disk Mode lets you treat the hard disk of one Mac as an external drive to another. You do have to be careful with this, only the Mac that is currently booted to an active screen has its drivers enabled. If you need the drivers of the other Mac to do some sort of installation, it may not work right, or if you need it to run specific software.
3. The iMac 27" now has a DisplayPort Input port that allows displaying from a second Mac. See Using a 27-inch iMac as an external display. There are some hurdles to get there, however some third party solutions for those hurdles are listed on:
http://lowendmac.com/ed/bashur/09db/dvi-to-mini-displayport.html
4. If you have a second screen to initially setup a Mac as a server of some sort you can make it "headless" (i.e. no second screen necessary) using one of these solutions:
iChat Screen Sharing
OSX VNC
Netopia's Timbuktu
Apple Remote Desktop
Microsoft Remote Desktop
Screen Recycler
Finder Screen Sharing
The speed of your network though can make such solutions appear too slow for words. If you use IP over Firewire on Mac OS X
10.5, 10.4, or 10.3 reasonable speeds can be obtained.
Elgato makes Firewire compatible capture devices which can capture S-Video. If you output the video of that Mac to an S-Video connector, you can view its video on the Elgato capture screen in 720 x 480 resolution. This usually is too little real estate for an effective second display, but for some it may be the quickest solution available.
In addition, Mac Minis, Intel based iMacs and Mac Pros do accept any display that supports VGA or DVI. Contrary to what you might think, you aren't stuck to Apple's displays. The Apple displays themselves are true Progressive LCDs that are widescreen with color matching, extra ports, and an extra place to put an iSight mount if you can find an original iSight. DVI supports more resolutions, and dual-link DVI even more.

Hi Brian,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. You can mirror the displays or make whichever display you want the primary in Extended Desktop mode. See this article for details:
How to use multiple displays with your Mac
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5019
The white bar at the top of the left blue box represents the menu bar and determines which display is your primary display. To change your primary display, click the white bar and drag and drop it on the blue box representing the display you would prefer to be your primary display.
Cheers,
- Ari

• Considering dumping cable and switching to a FIOS bundle - I have several questions...

I'm fed up with my local (Huntington Beach, CA) cable provider "improving my experience" by moving channels to their "digital lineup". As retribution, I'm seriously considering switching to a Verizon FIOS bundle (phone, internet, TV). I've some questions (and will probably think of more) and am hoping some super-knowledgable guy or gal can answer them. Yes, I've searched the forum and found some guidance - but I want to be 100% sure before I part with my hard-earned/heavily-taxed money.
1. Currently have coax (unknown type) feeding through the house to various locations. I've read conflicting statements on this: If the coax can handle it, can the FIOS be connected to this existing cabling? How does one determine this?
2. TV 1 is a six-year old Sony (analog) WEGA - works great, not going to replace it - that has Twin View (essentially PnP) capability. The unit has many connection points, including DVI-HDTV IN port (looks like an HDMI). I assume that an STB will be required for this TV. Does the Verizon STB make use of this port?
3. I undertsand that digital STB's decode one channel at a time, so my TV 1 PnP function goes away unless I connect another input to the AUX (an HDTV antenna and converter, a VCR to watch tapes, etc.) but, can I connect a second STB to that input and get my PnP back?
4. TV 2 is a one-year old Vizio LCD with an HD tuner. I assume it does NOT need an STB?
5. TV 2 also has PnP - useless unless I connect another input source (another STB?) to the unit, yes?
6. Can I use my existing telephones and answering machine with the FIOS bundle?
7. Can I use my existing switch/WAP/router(s) with the FIOS router? It isn't one of those modem/router combos, is it?
8. Can a technician visit my home for a preliminary inspection so that I can address any routing/installation/technical issues beforehand?
Thanks for being patient - I hesitate to call these questions in since I'm never sure if I'm getting the right answers. Forums are great; the community generally flags incorrect information and provides some sense of validation.

I've read conflicting statements on this: If the coax can handle it, can the FIOS be connected to this existing cabling? How does one determine this? If it worked for your previous provider, it will more than likely work with FIOS... the Tech will eb able to determine definitivley once on site

The unit has many connection points, including DVI-HDTV IN port (looks like an HDMI). I assume that an STB will be required for this TV. Does the Verizon STB make use of this port? Picture in picture does not work with the FIOS STBS, as there is only one "stream" out from the box... I am not aware of any verizon STBs that have a DVI port... you would need to use HDMI or COMPONENT for HD, and COAX or COMPOSITE for SD
3. I undertsand that digital STB's decode one channel at a time, so my TV 1 PnP function goes away unless I connect another input to the AUX (an HDTV antenna and converter, a VCR to watch tapes, etc.) but, can I connect a second STB to that input and get my PnP back?.. in theory you could, but you will run into the issue where both STBs will get the signal from the remote.
4. TV 2 is a one-year old Vizio LCD with an HD tuner. I assume it does NOT need an STB? if you want to watch channels other than LOCAL you will need an STB... there is sticky/FAQ topic about what and how you can get channels WITHOUT a BOX
5. TV 2 also has PnP - useless unless I connect another input source (another STB?) to the unit, yes?same as above
6. Can I use my existing telephones and answering machine with the FIOS bundle?yes
7. Can I use my existing switch/WAP/router(s) with the FIOS router? It isn't one of those modem/router combos, is it?yes you can.. but do not expect much, if any, support from verizon, regarding your third party internal networking equipment... The router provided is strictly a router, though it is special, and needed for the FIOS TV, as far as the guide/VOD/widgets
8. Can a technician visit my home for a preliminary inspection so that I can address any routing/installation/technical issues beforehand?I highly doubt that

• Migration to new G/L

Hi gurus;
Does anyone have a clear idea about migration? Does Migration from classic G/L to new G/L mean that
transferring of only open items and the balance carry forward for prior years from migration date
and all items for the migration year to new G/L ? Or does it depend on the migration scenario you purchase?
We are at a test stage of migration for the time being and I hope we have done something wrong to achieve this result. What is in our hands is merely frustration. I would have hoped that I can see the balance of all G/L accounts for the prior years from migration just like the view FS10N especially after paying (the cost is not nuts) for this service.
I would like to hear from someone else that this is the case after migration or I would have been very pleased to hear that I can see the balance of all G/L accounts for prior years from migration and thus have done something wrong in the migration cockpit.
Thanks and regards,
Gökçen.

Hi,
There are some link avaiable in the forum,

And there is a reply also from the earlier one,
I would however pass one bit of advice to you and that is to review OSS note 1070629
This is the FAQ's about the new GL migration.
There are some very useful questions and answers, and this should help you with the planning of your project.

Here are some useful Q & A's
17. Is it possible to upgrade to ECC5.0 or ECC6.0 and migrate from the classic General Ledger to the new General Ledger in the same fiscal year?
If you intend to use document splitting in the new General Ledger, activate the function for validating the document splitting in your productive system before the migration date. This means that you should upgrade to ECC 6.0 in one fiscal year, activate document split validation before the end of that fiscal year and migrate to the new General Ledger in the next fiscal year.
If you do not plan to use document splitting in the new General Ledger, you can upgrade to ECC5.0 or ECC6.0 and migrate to the new General Ledger in the same fiscal year.
Keep in mind that the function for validating document splitting is not available in ECC5.0.
24. How should I check data consistency in the classic General Ledger before the beginning of the first test migration?
To check data consistency in the classic General Ledger before the beginning of the first test migration, proceed as follows:
1) Program RFINDEX
Execute the program RFINDEX twice.
In the first run, choose "Documents vs Indexes" in the selection screen.
In the second run, choose "Indexes vs Documents" in the selection screen.
For more information, see the program documentation.
If the program finds any differences, create a message on SAP Service Marketplace under the component FI-GL-GL-X.
2) Program SAPF190
Run program SAPF190 for the fiscal year prior to the migration and for the fiscal year in which the migration takes place.
If the program finds any differences, create a message on SAP Service Marketplace under the component FI-GL-GL-X.
3) Program RAABST02
If you use Asset Accounting, run program RAABST02.
If the program finds any differences, create a message on SAP Service Marketplace under the component FI-AA-AA-B.
4) Program RCOPCA44
If you use Profit Center Accounting, run program RCOPCA44.
If the program finds any differences, see SAP Note 81374.
Remove all inconsistencies before you start the first test migration
29. Which parts of Customizing must already exist in the production system on the migration date?
If you use document splitting in ECC 6.0, we recommend that you activate the validation of document splitting in the production system at the latest on the migration date. This means that the new General Ledger including document splitting must be completely configured in the production system on the migration date and that all interfaces and ALE scenarios must be adjusted accordingly.
This does not apply to ECC 5.0 because the validation of document splitting is not available in ECC 5.0.
If you do not intend to use document splitting or if you use Release ECC 5.0, you can transport Customizing of the new General Ledger to the productive system after the migration date.
The indicator "New General Ledger Accounting Is Active" is transported with other basic settings of the new General Ledger in table FAGL_ACTIVEC. Ensure that the indictor "New General Ledger Accounting Is Active" is not set when you transport it to the production system.
30. When drawing up the project plan, what must I consider if I want to use document splitting?
We recommend that you activate document splitting validation at the latest on the migration date.
The new General Ledger including document splitting must be completely and finally configured before you activate document
Hope everything helps in migration new GL functionality
