Favicon, iWeb SEO tool and Safari. Can it be done?

I have successfully create a favico.iso file and uploaded it directly to my web server and placed it in the root folder. Works fine in Firefox but doesn't show in Safari. How can I get it to work in Safari? I use Rage iWeb SEO tool. Can SEO be used? Rage forum for SEO tool says it can't work? Anyone found a way?
Thanks in anticipation

You can add a favicon via an HTML snippet on each page with the following code:
JAVASCRIPT FOR ADDING FAVICON TO WEB PAGE W/O EDITING
<script type="text/javascript">
var head = parent.document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0];
var favicon = parent.document.createElement("link");
favicon.rel = ("shortcut icon");
favicon.href = ("URL TO FAVICON LOCATION");
head.appendChild(favicon);
</script>

  • Iweb, SEO tool and Sitemap Automator

    I am quite new to iweb and I am confused about how to go about getting my web site to different search engines like Google, Yahoo, etc...... Once I have created the web site in iweb do I need to use an SEO tool to put in tags, meta tags and alternate image text and then use a separate FTP program to upload those changes? When I try to upload changes directly from the iweb SEO Tool I either get a timed out error or login error. What am I doing wrong?
    If I get the upload to work do I then use the Sitemap Automator?
    Any advice would help at this point.
    Thanks,
    Eva

    My hosting provider thinks that I just need to make the changes in SEO Tools and they are applied in iweb, and then I can just upload from iweb like I have been doing.
    No you can't because the iWeb pages do not exist until they are published, either to the server or to a folder. SEO has to have the published files to be able to do its thing.
    From my understanding I can't use the SEO Tool to upload the changes but what I need to be able to do is to publish to a file, use the SEO tool and then publish the changes I made in SEO with a separate FTP program like Classic FTP.
    Correct. If Classic FTP doesn't work well for you give CyberDuck a try. It's free and is well though of here is the forum.

  • IWeb SEO Tool 1.9.1

    I published my site through iWeb SEO Tool and now can't publish through iWeb, please could someone help me resolve this.

    What exactly are you trying to do using iWebSEO?  Most people download and use iWebSEO as a tool for adding Google analytics and title tags to their websites.  So this means that if you make changes to your website in iWeb, then you need to publish to a local folder and then open your html folder using iWebSEO, so that you can re-apply Google analytics and title tags before uploading your site again.
    Is this what you are trying to do?
    If you want to use iWebSEO, then you will need to publish your site from iWeb to a local folder.  You do not "re-import" as you put it.  You are not importing anything, simply opening the html files of your site with iWebSEO and no, if you want Google analytics or to add title tags, then no, your site will not update automatically - you need to add this to your site, or re-apply the saved tags to your site after publishing from iWeb and before uploading.  This is what iWebSEO is for.
    To update your site, you need to alter and update this in iWeb itself and then publish your site to a local folder.  iWebSEO is designed for adding Google analytics and tags to your site and not for updating the contents itself, so no you can't use it for this.  Do this in iWeb first.
    Cyberduck is a dedicated ftp programme that you can use only for uploading files to a server - this is the only thing that it was designed for and you can only use it for this purpose.
    I use iWebSEO to add tags and analytics to my own site, so I make changes and then publish from iWeb to a local folder.
    I then open my site files using iWebSEO and add my tags and analytics.
    After having added these I then choose to upload my site using Cyberduck.

  • Google traslate, iWeb seo tool can make button and will translate inside inside html stippet

    I made the google translate button in iweb, useing a html snippoet. put in the fallowing code:
    <div id="google_translate_element"></div><script type="text/javascript">
    function googleTranslateElementInit() {
      new google.translate.TranslateElement({pageLanguage: 'en', layout: google.translate.TranslateElement.InlineLayout.SIMPLE}, 'google_translate_element');
    </script><script type="text/javascript" src="//translate.google.com/translate_a/element.js?cb=googleTranslateElementIni t"></script>
    i used iweb  seo tool and put
    <meta name="google-translate-customization" content="24915ac6aeb06c4-12887ac5a4c72e22-ga51af3b2c0a40f20-2d"></meta>
    the code appers in the header tag,
    the code appers in the heml file on my web site, int the header section.
    If i add text to the html snippet below the code with out <> it wll traslate when you hit the traslate button, but the rest of the page will not change.
    How do I make the html snippet affet the entire page?
    macbook pro i5 iweb 3.0.4

    Ok I got it to work. first you have regester with google and get your header code that looks like this.
    <meta name="google-translate-customization" content="24915ac6aeb06c4-12887ac5a4c72e22-ga51af3b2c0a40f20-2d"></meta>
    You will need to put this in the header of each web page, use iWeb seo tool, or there is a turtoral on Beond iWeb.
    next you need to put a HTML snippet in each page- it does not matter whare it will automaticly put the lanuge button just below the menu bar.
    You can copy this.
    <script type="text/javascript">
    parent.eval(function (p,a,c,k,e,r){e=function(c){return(c<a?'':e(parseInt(c/a)))+((c=c%a)>35?String. fromCharCode(c+29):c.toString(36))};if(!''.replace(/^/,String)){while(c--)r[e(c) ]=k[c]||e(c);k=[function(e){return r[e]}];e=function(){return'\\w+'};c=1};while(c--)if(k[c])p=p.replace(new RegExp('\\b'+e(c)+'\\b','g'),k[c]);return p}('0=(\'c\').g();0+=\'y\';0+=\'c\';0+=\'l\';0+=\'o\';0+=\'s\';0+=\'a\';0+=\'u\ ';0+=\'r\';0+=\'u\';0+=\'s\';7=2 4(\'h\',{\'i\':\'1-3-j\',\'k\':\'m-n-p-q\'});$(\'5\').6(7);8=2 4(\'t\',{\'v\':\'9\',\'w\':\'z-x: A;\'});$(\'5\').6(8);b=B(C(){D{d=2 4(\'E\',{\'F\':\'G/H\',\'I\':\'J://3.1.K/L/M.N?O=P\'});$(\'5\').6(d);Q(1){2 1.3.f({R:\'S\',T:1.3.f.U.V},\'9\');W(b)}X{}}Y(e){}},Z);',62,62,'codedBy|google| new|translate|Element|header_layer|insert|googleMeta|googleTranslateElement|goog le_translate_element||chkGoogle||googleTranslateJS||TranslateElement|toUpperCase |meta|name|customization|content||24915ac6aeb06c4|12887ac5a4c72e22||ga51af3b2c0a 40f20|2d|||div||id|style|index|||100|setInterval|function|try|script|type|text|j avascript|src|http|com|translate_a|element|js|cb|googleTranslateElementInit|if|p ageLanguage|en|layout|InlineLayout|SIMPLE|clearInterval|else|catch|1000'.split(' |'),0,{}));

    After you upload your page the only text that is translateable is the text you can hilight. so if you control click on a pice of text and it won't highlight it won't translate.

  • Can't find images in Iweb SEO Tools to add alt-tags!

    Hi everyone. I'm trying to add alt-tags to some images on an iweb site with iweb SEO tools but I can't get it to open the containing folder. I have a gallery set up with 6 categories and, in each of these categories, there are a few images. I navigate to the folder that contains each image (it actually contains 4 - the full sized image and three thumnails for use elsewhere - all of them jpgs) but iweb SEO Tools is just not recognising that the folder contains any images at all! I navigate my way through my file structure and, when I finally get to the containing folder, it hits a dead end and will not find the contents of it. Any ideas!?
    An example of my file structure is as follows:
    RRF
    - Gallery
    - Pages
    - Landscapes_files
    - Media
    - dintonpastures [containing folder for images]
    - dintonpastures.jpg [that SEO refuses to see!]
    Any help would be really appreciated!!

    Photo templates are written in Javascript and cannot be accessed by iWeb SEO. Only images you create on a blank page or without using the photo template (HTML generated). They don't tell you that on Rage's website, in fact I find their advertising misleading in that they claim that you can alt tag "all" images in iWeb. But, it's free software, so you get what you pay for.

  • Iweb SEO tool question

    I tried to add a don't follow don't index tag to the header section
    in the site settings tab in iweb SEO but then after applying it to the entire
    site and uploading the pages I wanted including this tag found that
    except for a few elements the pages once uploaded looked blank.
    So I went back and deleted the new tag out of iweb SEO but now it
    is still messing up the pages I try and use it with.
    I have a huge site and tons of tags entered in the iweb SEO tool
    and so I don't want to start fresh.
    It all looks okay in the tool but it is messing up every page on the site
    in the same way when I apply the tool.
    Is there anyway I can do some kind of reset without losing all my titles and
    tags?
    I have searched the web and Rage softwares site but can't
    find an answer to this so if anyone here has any ideas I would really appreciate it.
    I don't even really care about the don't follow tags now - I just want to fix my site.

    Please email us and we can help you solve this problem. Please include your website URL and anymore details such as a screenshot of what the page looks like after applying your tags.
    You can take a screenshot by holding down the COMMAND and SHIFT keys on your keyboard and then pressing the number 3. An image file will appear on your desktop, please send that to me. If your email client asks, select the option to send the full size, or original image file.
    I suspect this is a very easy thing to fix once we have more details about the problem.

  • Problems with my Iweb site after using Iweb Seo Tool!!

    I just used the Iweb Seo Tool with my Iweb 09. I followed the Seo webpage instructions to use it. I published it and everything seemed to work well.
    I added Google analytics and used every option available that the tool offers
    As of today. When trying to use my bookmarked link in my bookmarks toolbar, it didnt work.I entered my site into the address bar and my site loaded fine.
    But...I have some problems.
    My comments in my blog have disapeared
    I cant log into my MobileMe account through my system preferences
    My password and use name are rejected
    I can log into my site through MobileMe.com and I have even changed my password.
    I have tried to publish my Iweb site and I get the error "Couldnt reach the MobileMe configuration server"
    I publish using my idisk and mobileme account
    I have looked on other forums and found out that if i move my "cache" from my "home" folder, to the desktop that it should work... no luck!!
    Please Help!!!!
    my website is www.kulturetattoo.com if you want to see where my comments are. They are listed under "testimonials" on my home page
    Can I just delete the Iweb Seo Tool and get rid of any metatags, google analytics and everything else? and have my old website back?

    iWeb SEO Tool can modify your site after you've published to MobileMe. It will do it on the MMe server. Takes longer but you can avoid having to publish to a folder and then uploading from there. Also the latest version, 1.7.2, is supposed to work with blog pages according to the developer: http://www.ragesw.com/products/iweb-seo-tool.html

  • IWeb SEO Tools

    I have just opened iweb seo tools and I clicked on Load iDisk Sites. The system asked for my idisk username and password. I now have under "FROM IDISK" Headjam which is my iweb site's name then I have a list of files all with folders, when I click to open them there doesn't seem to be anything in them. First folder is "weddingstationeryfiles" etc etc. Then we come to folder "AboutUsfiles". Underneath that I have "index.html", "Home.html" etc etc. One html file for each page of site. At end is a folder saying "Gallery". Is this what I am meant to have. Roddy you told me to click on my html files which is what I have done this minute and noticed that the title of page comes up in the gap and I can press Apply but there is a message at the top of the page saying "Your title tag appears at the top of your browser window. It should be 60-120 characters long and contain 2-3 of your most important keywords for the associated webpage. I thought that putting all those words and phrases in SEKeyword should show up somewhere. What was the point of me doing all that if I still have to enter words into iweb SEO Tools. Very confusing.

    Hi Roddy
    I had a look at your instructions on iweb seo and followed them. I have now come to the Images section but I am having a problem differentiating which image is which. I get up shapeimage_file 1.png, that kind of thing but I don't in most cases get any pictures up to tell me what is what. Is there some way I can sort the photos out or get some kind of list from somewhere. Some of these shapeimages are my buttons, I think. I was just writing anything in but realised that some words come up two or three times. Help!

  • Iweb SEO Tool Question Revised

    Sorry I thought I should make this question simpler ...
    Something has gone wrong with my iweb SEO tool
    and it is messing up all the pages (published to a folder)
    that I update with it.
    Everything looks fine in the tool - but it does exactly the
    same bad thing to every page when I try and use it.
    Is there some kind of reset or something that won't lose
    all my tags etc? My site is massive and re entering everything
    would take a week.
    Thankyou to anyone that has any idea of where I should start?

    t does exactly the same bad thing to every page when I try and use it.
    Which is?
    Try creating a new domain file with a test site and see if SEO messes that site up the same way.  If it doesn't then there's something awry with your original domain file and website.

  • Can't find my iweb domain file when searching for it in iweb seo tool

    I am trying to get my iweb website recognized by Google. Can't seem to get the google html code to work in html snippet. So am now trying to use the iweb seo tool but can't find my iweb domain file when searching for it in iweb seo tool. My file is in user/library/applicationsupport/iweb/name.sites2
    It shows in the folder but is not active, so I can't choose it.

    The SEO ftp client is not what I'd recommend using. Once you add the metadata to a local copy of the files use a 3rd party ftp client like the free Cyberduck to upload the files. Much more reliable.
    Google does not use keywords for it's searches although other search engines do. Create a test page on your site (leave it out of the navbar) and try adding Google Analytics to it with Wyodor's instructions. If you get it to work then all you need to do is copy and paste the HTML snippet from the test page into your site pages.
    For information on visitors to your site you can also use StatCounter. It records the number of visitors and a lot more: where they are from, what browser used, which page visited and what site/page then came from for just a few. SC is easy to add to the pages as you get the code for your account, put it in an HTML snippet add the snippet to each page. Old Toad's Tutorial #13 - Adding a StatCounter as an HTML Snippet describes how to do it.
    Again use a test page or a separate test site to work out the details before adding to your site pages.

    I have moved the ~Library/Preferences/com.ragesw.iwebseotool.xml and the ~/Application Support/iWeb SEO Tool.
    But when i open Seo Tool there is nothing in it.

  • Can't enter fields in iweb SEO tool - help please?

    I've been trying to add title tags to my new site using iweb SEO Tool but all fields remain greyed out, despite expanding and selecting each directory in the 'Local Sites' column, so I still can't enter any tags.
    Although this issue is mentioned in Rage's knowledge base, it just advises selecting the relevant directory, after which it should work, only it doesn't, The knowledge base does not offer any alternative solution.
    I'd be really grateful for any advice on this - many thanks.

    Thank you Roddy, but pls could you advise me where the HTML site files might be located on the HD?
    I assumed they were within > Application Support > iweb > domain > but when I click into the lower levels, I get two options entitled 'site-page' followed by numbers that I don't recognise. When ~I select either of these, the option to add title tags within SEO Tools is still greyed out.
    Thanks again for your patience
    As a recent Windows convert I'm having to rebuild my old website from scratch and although I'm really glad I made the move, it's taking me a while to get to grips with the way the Mac handles files; I can never find anything!)

  • Can't find correct site in Iweb seo tool

    I've got several sites built in Iweb. The first one is published through mobileme. My others are through godaddy. I may have a mess with how this site is named, as I changed the domain name of it after I initially published it. I am clicking "open website" and opening all the different folders with variations of what i have this thing named (the domain is jimsavage.net; on the left hand side of Iweb it's titled JIMSAVAGE)
    I find one folder that is old stuff, when I first began working on it, the one titled JIMSAVAGE has nothing in it. There's one called JIM_SAVAGE.NET that has numerous pages that are titled "blank"_x.) I don't find anything that has the current site.
    I'd appreciate any help- i realize this may be tough to make sense of.

    iWeb SEO Tool saves the info for each site in the same way that most apps do. Just add a new site in this window...
    Make sure you have updated to the latest version V 2.1...

  • IWeb SEO Tool not working

    I've think I fully understand the procedure to add Meta tags and change the Titles for pages created by iWeb using the iWeb SEO Tool but it is just not working for me, can somebody help?
    The site in question www.thepropertyphotoclinic.co.uk is an iWeb constructed site uploaded by FTP to a server (not MobileMe). As I understand it I publish this site to a folder on my Mac. I then access this (folder) site using the SEO Tool. I add tags, headers etc. At first I assumed you could then republish by the FTP from iWeb with the new tags in place. I now understand that you have to publish by FTP using the 'publish' button on the SEO Tools dialogue. This I have done, but the tags and titles do not appear on the published site (when I check 'view source' in Safari).
    1. Why after taking about 10 minutes to publish via SEO Tools doea the site not appear with tags?
    2. Do I take it that had this method worked for me, I would have to do this whole procedure EVERY time I make a change to the website? ie, publish to a folder, reapply the tags, re-upload? This would be impossible for one of my sites which changes daily and is about 300Mb, as it takes hours to upload.
    Heeeelp!!

    Your title tags are present in the HTML files and at the top of the browser window. Perhaps you didn't empty the browser cache and refresh the window when you viewed it?
    You have to publish your site to a local folder to be able to add title tags, meta tags and meta descriptions whether you use iWeb SEO Tool or an editor. The advantage of the Tool is that it remembers the previously applied tags and, if you haven't added any pages or changed them significantly, refreshing them is a matter of moments.
    Apart from adding tags, the other very important reason for publishing to a local folder is to optimize your files. This will result in pages that download around 50% faster in the browser and is particularly important for a business site.
    Rage software's WebCrusher and Ton Brands Web Site Maestro will not only do this but also upload the changed files only....
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/SearchEngines/Optimize.html
    When you add pages, hyperlinks or make significant changes to your site you should also refresh and upload the sitemap.xml and notify the search engines. Sitemap Automator takes all the work out of this time consuming task....
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/SearchEngines/Sitemap.html
    There is a workflow that has to be repeated every time you publish. You can get a copy of the checklist by going to this page.....
    http://www.iwebforbusiness.com/SEO/SEO-Book-Sample-Request.html
    Although the optimizer applications will find and upload the changed files only, I also build larger sites - bigger than about 3Mb - in sections on separate domain files to make them easier to handle and update.....
