FC Beta 2 Installation Problemo

Apparently -- I was a bad boy.
Trashed my Flash Catalyst Beta 1 DMG. Since then and now, I jacked up my FC Beta 1 install and now I cannot uninstall FC Beta 1. Therefor, I cannot install FC Beta 2.
Help me, help me please....
Is there an available FCB1 DMG build that I can have to reinstall and then uninstall so that I can progress to FCB2?
OR, is there a published manifest available that I may use to manually uninstall FCB1?

FB4 beta 2 installation issues

Hi,
I am trying to install flashbuilder4_b2_win_100509.exe, and i keep getting 'Please select another location to extract the installer to' error. See the attached file. If i choose a different location is still get the same error dialog.
I noticed that the installer temporarily extracts the files under C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Temp\<I1257369022>. This has two directories InstallerData and Windows. I tried selecting FB4_Standalone.exe under the Windows directory, but that didnt help much.
I read there could be some issues with java updates, not sure how true that is, i have Java 6 undate 11 installed.
Any suggestions what i can do here? I have un-installed my previous flash builder 3 and 4 beta 1 versions, cleaned up registry files etc.

Hi,
I've seen this error happen occasionally if the temp folder gets too full, even if there's plenty of free disk space. I've been able to resolve it in the past by deleting old files from the tmp folder, and then emptying the recycle bin.

The format mask 999G999G999G999G990D0000 is the format mask that I selected from the software itself. I also use this format mask for a single record update. If' s ok, no error, but with tabular form with multiple record update, it shows error .I also changed the decimal point to two digits ,select from software pop-up window (this was tested in the workspace provide by Oracle). It still shows error. Last test I put the space like 1 111,111.00 in a single record update it shows error (but if I put 1 in front of 111,111 without space it's ok-no space before). My point is from user point of view.In the first time user input 100000 the software accept it. Opp! it has to be 1100000. The user comes back after submit and put 1 without comma.It shows error (in tabular form with multiple record update not in single row update). While in the first time the user do not to key any comma at all. This may makes some confuses both the users and the developers which had to check error by adding program to checking some where in Page Processing or Page Rendering.

CRVS2010 Beta- Some Installation files are corrupt

Hello,
I am trying to download the CRVS2010 beta. It downloads and when I run the cr4vs2010.exe I get this error:
"Some installation files are corrupt.
Please download a fresh copy and retry the installation"
I have tried redownloading multiple times with different browsers to no avail. I need this downloaded ASAP as we have multiple crystal reports that were ported over from VS 2008.
Please Help.

I just downloaded from the US link and ran the installer and it worked for me. It extracted all of the files and it appears the setup engine is almost the last file it extracts.
I believe this is a permission issue. Does it get as far to create this folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\InstallData\logs
or any \SAP BusinessObjects folders?
Try adding the EXE's to the trusted list in your Anti-virus software and/or firewall and or anywhere else Windows may be blocking executables.

J2sdkee-1_4-beta-linux installation pb

I install j2re-1_4_2-beta-linux-i586 first
then I wanted to install j2sdkee-1_4-beta-linux
When I run j2sdkee-1_4-beta-linux.sh
I get :
Cannot find Java(TM) 2 Platform, Standard Edition
Version 1.3 or higher is the Java(TM) 2 Platform, Standard Edition
is required to run this installation program
I suppose some installation step is missing.
But didn't find anything in doc.

First of all, you'll have to install full JDK in order to run J2EE 1.4 Application Server - JRE will not be enough. If installation still reports the same message after you install JDK, provide -javahome <jkd_path> parameter when you invoke installer.

Microsoft® Windows® XP with SP2 or greater, Windows Vista® Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise with Service Pack 1 (tested with 32-bit Windows XP and Windows Vista)
An incompatibility with Vista x64 or Win 7 x64 may be causing the installation issue. When you say there is no installer icon, do you mean you don't see the installer file once you download Catalyst on these systems? Can you elaborate on what happens when you try to install?

JDOM beta 8 installation - compilation errors

Can someone give me some suggestions? I am spinning my wheels on what to do. This should be fairly simple...
I installed and extracted jdom beta 8, added the location to xerces.jar to my classpath, and I still receive the following errors:
FibonacciJDOM.java:1: package org.jdom does not exist
import org.jdom.*;

import org.jdom.output.XMLOutputter;
...when compiling some sample JDOM code with the following import statements:

import java.math.BigInteger;
import java.io.IOException;
Have the package names changed in beta 8? I have read, and followed the suggestions in the FAQ at jdom.org. What am I doing wrong?

as a novice I find a lot of these projects such as Tomcat &
the like, harder to install than use the dam things.
lots of books are available for using jdom, but its usually
assumed everybody knows their way around autoexec.bat and so on.
i've managed to get swing, MySql and jsp's all to work ,so I can not
be that thick, but still can not seem to get my head around set classpath and all that stuff.
putting the jar files in both the two directories as tobias suggested
worked a treat!

11GXE beta: Failed Installation on Windows XP SP3 with No errors

After struggling to understand why my database can't be started it appears that there was a series of errors during installation that left behind a 'crippled' instance with nor control or data files. NONE of this was reported by the Installation wizard. Only after digging into log files I'm able to see the extend of this failure.
I'm tracing this from the C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\config\scripts\XE.bat file that is used to configure the server
So looking at sequential log.
C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\config\log\XE.bat.log
Instance created.then three scripts are executed
C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\config\scripts\CloneRmanRestore.sql
C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\config\scripts\cloneDBCreation.sql

Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Event Viewer --> Clear All Events

Packagemaker 3.0.3. get user's installation preferences

Hi all,
i have a small problem that seems to be caused by my lack of knowledge on the issue. Basically, what I am trying to do is to create an installer for my application with the PackageMaker.app. I am stuck on one place though, how can I 'get' a user's input during the installation and feed it to a script which is getting started after the install.
Example: I give the user 4 language choices during the installation - german, japanese, french and english. The user chooses one of those and according to this choice my post-install script has to do different things.
Does anybody know how can I achieve such behaivior?

Where you can see that more then half of the variables are empty. Also the '/usr/bin/env' outputs nothing related to language or localization... I think, I set the localization properly in the packageMaker interface so the problem should be somewhere in the script. I am not experienced at all with writing scripts so I am guessing that is the problem. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

CRVS2010 beta - chart legend

Hello,
I created a pie chart with a legend. Usually, when the legend has percents, the last row on the legend has the word "Total" and a percent. The legend has what looks like a field name with underscores.
I right-clicked on the chart and selected chart options - - > general.
Everything on the dialog box has something like "_e_[field name]".
on the chart options submenu, the template and titles options dialog boxes also have the same issue.
Is there some option that I need to change for the dialog box and the title field on the legend to change or is this a bug in the beta version?
I searched this forum for a solution but did not find anything.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am happy to hear that the chart legend is scheduled to be fixed.
This one was a little scary, because it worked in the prior version of crvs. At first, I thought that there was something wrong with my beta 1 installation.
I didn't realize that the chart component was 3rd party.

New installation - Cisco Prime from OVA on VMWare

Hi,
I have just imported Cisco Prime OVA and followed the setup and entered the IP Address, hostname, DNS, Gateway etc etc... When I attempt to enter via the URL https://CicsoPrime01 it doesn't accept the connection. I'm able to ping to the CiscoPrime machine, but can't get in.
I searched and saw some troubleshooting steps such as ncs status, ncs start....
Result:
/opt/CSO01umos/bin/wcsadmin.sh no such file or directory....
Any help?

Bug Report: unable to install CS6 beta

I downloaded and unzipped CS6 beta and installation started OK but gave an error that Photoshop Bridge was running and should be closed. I closed it and got an error that some background programs were running that should be closed. Not knowing which of the very many background programs were affecting the installation, I closed Windows and rebooted. Now the installion program consistently fails to initialize. I have done system restore and downloaded and unzipped CS6 beta again and nothing enables installation to continue. I am using Windows 7 Professional (with and without Virtual XP running) on a Dell Inspiron laptop. Any cures for this?

FF 3.6.13 continues to open after loading Beta 4 what's wrong

I just downloaded Beta 4, yet all my shortcuts are still loading 3.6.13. I can't tell the difference between them as they all look like the FF's logo. I tried to make Beta 4 my default browser, but 3.6.13 still comes up.

The Firefox 4 beta version installs in a different program folder, so you need to create an extra desktop short to the firefox.exe program in that program folder if the installer hasn't done that.
You should also create a new profile exclusively for the 4.0 beta version and create a desktop shortcut with -P "profile" appended to the target to launch that profile.

Thinking of pre installation and post installation

I understand the following is very common question, but I need to know the answer specific to my case.
my case:
My production database has around 100 tables in a single database/instance (no clusterred yet); 3 of tables are growiing very fast, in less than 1 month can use more than 1TB hard disk space, and we have to keep 6 months' data (so in a half year, disk space will be used up 6-10 TB by these 3 tables; every day there are lots of operations on these tables, update, insert and query (no delete, every operation invoked heavy API stored precedure.
questions.
1. if applying cluster, installing in 2 nodes, 5 nodes, 10 nodes, can I expect linear performance increasing to 15%,18%,20%?
2. install nodes in one physical box (usiing vmware) better or 1 node 1 box better, in terms of performance?
3. afer installing Grid, the database install in one of those node or iin another box?
4. any doc telling how to install/configure the database upon cluster/nodes?

Yes, RAC provides for scalability. However, no cluster (RAC and anything else) is capable of simply taking any program (or stored procedure), and make that now run faster across multiple cluster nodes.
The program (stored proc or SQL in RAC's case) need to be able to run in parallel, deal with concurrency, and do this in a thread-safe way. The cluster provides the tools for this. The program needs to support or use these tools.
And, I also think, in 10 nodes cluster, it's better that installs 10 database instances than installing only 5, in terms of performance.Of course, you want to use all cluster nodes. But you can for example create server pools in the cluster and more than one cluster database - and run these on your cluster. A cluster does not necessarily mean only supporting a single cluster database.
A report shows CPU usage is very high constantly during executing (now we use 32 CPU in one box), however I/O and network usages look normal.Unlikely that a RAC will do better in this case - running processes within the same h/w boundary on 32 CPUs will usually be faster than running the same processing across 16 server nodes, with 2 CPUs per server.
Can I still expect linear performance increasing? if no, what can RAC database help me out, or any other way can help me my case?As I said - RAC provides incredible scalability (e.g. my biggest RAC does up to 35,000 rows inserts per second, and uses parallel processing to process 30+ million row data sets using several table joins in less than 120 seconds).
But for any cluster - scalability needs to be part and parcel of the software loads run on that cluster. If the workload of the software cannot be parallelised, if workloads are not designed to be scalable, then no amount of clustering will improve the runtimes of such workloads.
My suggestion is to first identify the CPU related performance problem you have. You need to know WHAT the problem is, in order to decide on how to address it. And whether RAC is a solution to the performance problem.

How can i downgrade from iTunes 10.5 Beta 2 to iTunes 10.5 Beta 1?

i have a iPhone on iOS 5.0 Beta 1 and iTunes on 10.5 beta 2 but i cant sync and when i install itunes 10.5 beta 1 it's not possible to start itunes

The info below corrects the mistake of upgrading to iTunes 10.5 Beta 2 before installing iOS 5.0 Beta 2 on your iDevice.
To downgrade from iTunes 10.5 Beta 2 to iTunes 10.5 Beta 1 you need to trash the iTunes Application before running the Beta 1 installer. Otherwise the icon will just bounce once and the app won't run.
Then once you are back on Beta 1 should should restore your iDevice to iOS 5 beta 2 (you can only use restore, upgrade doesn't work and throws error 3002) you then need to install iTunes beta 2 and then restore from your backup.
